The three horsemen of apocalypse: "It is actually surprisingly simple" "Baking a cake for 400 years is perfectly fine" "But first, let's talk about parallel universes"
As for why the loading order causes this gap - it has to do with the way physics are calculated in games. Each frame, the game updates each object's movement, one at a time. Gravity pulls objects down, but only if there is not something blocking their path. It looks like the order the objects are updated are based on their reverse spawn order. If the tower is updated from top to bottom, the top block tries to fall, but there is already a block under it so it doesn't move. Then the second block, then the third, until finally the bottom block tries to move, and it has an open space so it moves. That means that at the end of the frame there is a gap between the bottom block (which moved down) and the second-to-bottom block (which didn't). Each frame the bottom block moves down another 2 pixels, and the block above it moves down 2 pixels. As long as the tower doesn't hit a floor, the gap will remain. But if the tower is updated from bottom to top, then it stays together. The bottom block moves down first, then the second from the bottom is updated. It has an open space, so it moves down as well. Then the third, and so on. So the tower stays together.
@@wesleyxplorer Imagine a game where you play in rounds. Each round you have to move an object "down" if there is nothing beneath it. Try playing with two towers: one where you check from top to bottom, and one where you check from bottom to top. Take note of what each tower looks like at the end of each round.
You know what is more complicated? Your face... Seriously I am seeing it everywhere I go but with hundreds of different accounts. Ultimatum: Learn individuality or go live in bee hive!

(Giant here) Awesome, thanks for spreading this technique Ceave! The video is very thorough and there's really not much I can add. :-) Now I have hope that more people will use it and come up with some mind-blowing combinatorial puzzles once SMM2 comes out. It's not entirely impossible they fixed the delay-shifting (the "Giant gap" triggered by game lag) by then, but measuring the "wiggle" of the moving stack will almost certainly still be possible. That's because for "fixing" the order-dependent wiggle and make all stack rigid, Nintendo would need to construct a bottom-to-top contact graph in each time step to resolve contacts in a unique bottom-up order. Sounds doable, but that would probably cause problems for the arbitrarily complex scenarios that SMM2 will need to support gracefully.

If the word 'complicated' is paired with the word 'simple' without pointing out that they're opposites and they're describing the same thing, most people would find it as a mistake or something else like that despite the descriptive words around them. Plus, I'm kinda just after likes, if you're wondering why I didn't make my comment in all caps and in bold, it's because it may make it look like I'm hating on Ceave. And if you say likes on comments are useless, the more likes you get on comments the more likely you're going to appear in the highest rated comments, not just on the video you commented on, but in other videos too, RUclips's comment system is made to put people who have commented popular comments before more likely to appear in the highest rated comments but only for some people. okay that’s funny
Just don’t.
15:07, "Highlessly." This should *so* be a word, it works so well, and sounds awesome in every way possible. Thank you ceave.

"Mario doesn't have a movie"
Mario movie: *Allow me to introduce myself*
9:28 Now would you look at that, I guess he did need his own movie.
When Super Mario Maker 2 comes out, can you try to make "Champion's Road" from Super Mario 3D world or "Beat Block Galaxy" from super mario galaxy by using 2 state blocks and a global timer?
I will do it
Provided the on/off blocks can be triggered by any impact (and why not), it will be totally doable.
I thought of that to
A SMM beat block galaxy recreation would be so sick 🤠😍
This is the best idea I have ever heard I would rather hear this than watch Ceave’s videos!
Amazing video with some cool tricks! And here I though I didn't want more Mario Maker videos, because your challenge videos were better! But apparently you're just better in general at making videos now! I applaud you, Ceave. You're my favourite RUclipsr, but you're still somehow getting better!
When MM2 is out, you could start the "Tips, Tricks and Ideas with..."-series again. ^^
Gosh the series would be way too long cause there's so much things in SMM2...
It's not like he has to make a video about every single element. Although it would be pretty nice i'd say. :D
I`d love to watch the "Tips, Tricks and Ideas.." series again so please ceave: do it again in MM2
Snake blocks and switch blocks would be a good start to the new series.
especially switch blocks. that`s whole new universe
Nintendo watched this video, heard the joke and either wanted to ruin the setup for the joke, or capitalise off the idea of a movie.

"But so far, everything has been quite simple."
*brain melted a long time ago*
Ceave should really deserve a Nobel price in SMM science... XD
1:43 Voice crack.
Why do I notice stuff like that and why do I bother to write a comment about it?
Haha true

You have to answer that for yourself, friend.
Who else watches Ceave even though the content isnt the type you would normaly watch but you watch it anyway since the videos are so good quality and Ceave is a great presenter?
Didn´t even see anything about Mario maker before...
Why so ?
*IT’S SUPRISINGLY SIMPLE*
Ceave is Austrian. I am Austrian. So, it's actually surprisingly simple
This got recommended to me by youtube, haven't watched mario maker or ceave stuff before, just watching a gaming news channel.
"... but kills an _innocent_ koopa. _Hooray!_ "
38 Years ago: Mario in a game where you climb up and kill donkey Kong
1 Year ago: The reason why this is important is because items remember the order in which they spawn and the physics calculation of Mario maker is based on the spawn order of the entities.
"It’s actually surprisingly simple"
Spends 16 minutes explaining how it works.
Compare it with C programming and it's surprisingly simple.
If you think 16 minutes of explanation already qualify something as "not simple" anymore then oh boy is there a world out there you don't know.
@@TomJakobW It's a shame how dumb some of these people are... People like Yellya Yt are probably the majority of furries.

There's actually a superb example of this sort of contraption being used in one of the best troll levels I've ever seen, it was featured in a very recent CarlSagan42 video called "An ACTUAL Softlock (w/ Endless Fish Puns) | Troll Contest Winner!" with a level titled "Dr. Larl's Stupid House v3".
The level code is EA5D-0000-03D5-5E2F for anyone who wants to try it blind.

8:16 - that similar to the case of the electrons in atoms. When we configurate them with quantum numbers ( n, l, m and ms ) no electrone is the same. Every one of them has a unique set of numbers and therefore the position, momentum and spin of one is different from the other.
Yeah, science is fun.
Interesting theory, but you never take into account a half A press.
so for that reason, let me tell you about parrarel universes...
Amazing how just a minuscule gap in the movement of POW blocks due to lack has a lot of potential applications in Mario level design.

So Ceave how did you solve the meaning of life itself
Well it's surprisingly simple
The meaning of life is to find the meaning of life.
So, therefore by me telling you what the meaning of life is your life has no meaning. You're welcome.
Ceave: "I have just found the question"

The meaning of life is whatever you want it to be.
@@victorsandeen2694so if someone says theyre meaning of life is to bite on kitkats, is that okay?
I saw this used in a troll level a while back.
It had a troll key door blocking a vine, and a key before the door sitting above...
Right before the door was a mushroom.
There was a contraption making use of the Giant gap to kill an enemy with a key.

I could watch Ceave talk about tomatoes for 3 hours and still be interested, he’s just so wholesome
I love how your videos not only explain the game mechanics but they tell a story as well. 10/10 good sir
Why am I learning the same level of theory from a Mario video as a video on Kerbal Space Program?
This is why I subbed this day.

@Awesome Sauce Mario Maker 3: How to make Mario Maker 3 in Mario Maker 3

I can't wait for MM2. Not only because I want it but becase of the tons of videos you'll be able to make
I don't know why, but I thought that meant Majora's Mask 2.
Q: How do bad guys in Marios Bros. surf the internet?

I think you got something wrong here the second law of pow-block-airborness is "the pow-block-airborness of a loaded system must always increase"
This game is a programmer's nightmare
Not unless you are Nintendo...
Mario Maker 3 will probably be a new programming language if things continue like this
MM3 needs to take from LBP and hav actual global logic circuits
I'd say it's actually a programmer's wet dream.
Ceave Gaming: It's actually surprisingly simple.
Vsauce: Or is it?
Narrator: it was not.

Ceave: well, it's actually surprisingly simple.
Ceave: *tells his joke* AD: Lets pick here for the spot of the ad!
Ok , now imagine him with the on - off blocks on smm2 .... *Creates alternate reality*
You jest, but you can basically make two levels in one with them
more like parallel universes buddy

"The most complicated things in Mario Maker"
"It's surprisingly simple"
Make up your mind Ceave.
low IQ detected.
@@hateinc.9289 Me, or Ceave, because it's unclear. If it's Ceave then that's surprising. But if it's me:
Many other people have pointed this out, the word 'surprisingly' goes over a lot of people's heads. So the more likes I get, the bigger the chance to get noticed again. Yes, I realize that's still not a very good reason I should want likes. But when you're on a video that just got uploaded less than an hour ago, you at least have to try to write a good comment.
Those two statements arn't mutually exclusive. It could very well be the "MOST COMPLICATED THING IN MARIO MAKER" while also being surprisingly simple. Being the most complicated thing in mario maker does not make it an actually complex thing, it just means its the most complex thing in that particular case of mario maker.
If most of mario maker is 1% complex and this thing is 2% complex then it is the most complex thing in mario maker, however its still only 2% complex making it surprisingly simple.
@@Lowlightt Yeah, I kinda figured that, read the comment where I replied to Hate. Inc
