- #ad Hurricane Idalia struck the Nature Coast of Florida on August 30, 2023 as a category 3 storm, which was the strongest hurricane to ever enter Apalachee Bay. A storm surge of 6-10 feet was recorded from Cedar Key to Horseshoe Beach to Steinhatchee, FL. Team Dominator was on the scene deploying storm surge sensors using Flex Tape by @FlexSeal and of course the sensor survived the powerful, record-breaking storm surge. This is the 5th hurricane storm surge in which a Surginator was deployed using Flex Tape!

Never Stop Chasing

Excellent review, narration, & video footage of Hurricane Idalia. Reed, I hope you stay safe & never stop chasing!
Wow team dominator using flex tape on the surginator! That truely dominates!
I just changed majors to meteorology, hoping to have a career in the field like this someday, it would be sick
If anyone has any tips on the specifics of getting into a job like this then please talk to me, I want to be able to stand outside in crazy weather and do a bunch of research, maybe even photography and videography along with it
Hello all you Dominators. NSC
Hello Team Dominator. We must never stop chasing
I remember when you filmed this! I have never seen the parts with the Flex Tape, though. Thank you for taking us with you and showing us about the flex tape!
To flex tape I Luv your product keep sponsoring Reed and I’ll keep buying your products I hav Two here now
Cedar key is like 30 minutes away from me … this storm was the first time in my life that we ever left our homes. It was so crazy
Why do I not recall this storm? I usually seek footage of any and all the hurricanes that come through..this definitely seemed more like a flex seal commercial more than anything else 🤔
Reed is a weather legend 💯
THANKS
Reed, how do ya feel about this increasing trend of chasers behaving recklessly and clearly placing their lives in damage for clicks? A week ago had a group drive through arcing power lines chasing a tornado. Another guy driving into an EF3 and totalling his vehicle. I don't grasp how these people contribute anything positive to the chasing community or really society at all.
Yes it is a dangerous trend. I just hope people aren’t trying to emulate my style of storm chasing. Up-close tornado chasing is an art form that can only be mastered by experienced, however. You simply have to survive when mistakes are made to learn from them.
@@ReedTimmerWx Even medicine (surgery, etc) is considered an art and a science, despite the extreme schooling and exams required for entry, because of the "deluge" (I'll see myself out in a second ;) of complications that can, and will, arise.
"To err is Human" - To keep trying with humility and grace, in the face of adversity, is honorable.
Never stop chasing, man.
@@ReedTimmerWx so the stuff you do had decades of experience behind it. I get you sometimes get placed in difficult situations but you have at least 1000 tornadoes to back up your work. I think all of us appreciate and respect you and your work. But I have never seen you drive under live power lines and I am pretty sure I never will unless you are escaping certain death. But driving into arching lines is the single dumbest thing I have ever seen a chaser do. That's not an accident that's someone being a dumbass. But at least they got 1000 views from it I guess.
❤Thank you❤Sending lots of LOVE, plz sHARE❤❤❤
Crazy eh. Glad I live in BC Interior. Love your work. Stay safe all of you ❤️✌️👍
Incredible footage Reed !!! That surge was no joke !
Flex Seal for the win!
Awesome. Have a great day reed
good job my friend! shared!
I remember watching storm risings surging threat where they used the surginators on delta and zeta. And they return in 2023 on Idalia! AWESOME!!! Never stop chasing!
Great catch, guys. Thank you. ❤✌😎👍❤
Reed your awesome man.
This is such a powerful video
That flex seal tape really seals and really works!
Keep on truckin', Reed!
Thank you Paul - happy Halloween
Superb work Reed. I love your science. Ken M
Surginator survived. Great reporting? What was the surge? I remember one was deployed on Fort Myers Beach for Ian before the track was finalized. NHC NOAA should use Reed as a primary resource. Was it recovered?
Hey Reed!
@1.44 Okay Dr. Timmer. 😊
Love flex tape
I'm not gonna lie, you had me worried a bit by staying where you did. Then being in the storm waters, yuck. As always though, you kept us informed and collected data to better be able to give notice to ppl and save lives. You're are an amazing person and the passion you have for your job is another level. If you ever need a back up camera person that can also aid in medical emergencies (ER Nurse) let me know. My family would be ok without me for a week or so.
Seeing what occurred in Rolling Fork and another location was also hit, where they were asking for ppl with atv's to come assist bc the ppl couldn't get out and they were doing to take the assistance to them. Too many trees down, cars destroyed, homes as well and all for them to get out. That situation put the bug in my ear about getting another vehicle, supplies, and a smaller trailer to haul 4 wheeler on to go assist when these tragedies occur. The logistics of doing this is not one that can be pulled together overnight. Definitely something I'm looking into and seeing if it is financially doable. Anyway, awesome job, be safe, and never stop chasing. 🚓💯
I’m just curious what is the point of measuring all that stuff during the storm? How does it help you?
Excellent coverage, Dr. Timmer! Your livestreams are the best in the storm chasing field!
16ft storm surge...?!

Sue, count the free money, sue again, count more money , sue , get bad cops fired, count even more money. Money is only way to hurt police departments, sue sue sue , after enough bad cops are fired , police department pays out more money then they have maybe all cops will do right . This in no way is anything against the good police officer's out there , and there are a lot of good Cops out there
Kinda… suing will bring attention to the issues, maybe… it also doesn’t guarantee removal of the violating officers. We also need to elect legislators who will enact bills that redefine what the police are meant to do and minimum training requirements so they can actually enforce it. Lawyers go through 8 years of school, but cops who enforce the law understand it in a year long course? No way… the whole system needs to be amended.
