- Hurricane Ian slams the Florida coast, and Reed records the worst of it from Pine Island. Join Reed inside the eyewall of Hurricane Ian and watch the unbelievable storm surge progression before your very eyes. This is a LIVE weather report with more footage coming soon.
The eyewall is the most dangerous part of a hurricane, where the most severe weather and highest winds occur. The eye of the hurricane is the weakest part of it, while the eyewall, is the most dangerous and destructive part of it.

If Lt. Dan had both legs, he would've been a storm chaser just like this guy. Friggin insane 🤣 but awesome!
Lol thank you sir
He saw too many episodes of Twister!
If Lt Dan had both legs he wooda boinked gumps mom like the school superintendent
Absolutely! Lt Dan vibe for sure!
Fuckn Toni Miller Nikki m all at house held hostage me on film
This guy is a wildman. I saw his videos for first time yesterday him chasing a tornado in like kansas or sum and now this guy is Florida with us and actually out in it. Respect man. You are like the Steve Erwin of catastrophic weather. Stay safe.
lol get on the hurricane and ride it like a crock
Crikey!!! What a beauty!!!
He is a professional storm chaser
@Big Griff - Well, if you just discovered Reed, you're in for a treat. Some of the most outstanding, outrageous, spectacular extreme weather footage known to the human species awaits you, captured by Dr. Reed Timmer. Yeah, he's a wildman, but that's what it takes to record the phenomena he intercepts. But it's more than that; he's in it for the science. He knows what he's doing, and you'll learn a lot from his videos.
Yep 🎉
Smiling the whole time! Geez, Reed, you must be the only guy on the planet who gets his kicks like this! Thanks for taking us where no man in his right mind would want to go! Prayers for your safety!
Tons of people love storm chasing….
I’d like to stand there for 5 min lol
No amount of professionalism can compensate for the risk in this kind of situation. That being said, Reed is doing something that makes him wildly happy, risking his own safety (a risk that he’s quite entitled to take) and it makes ME wildly happy to hears those signature whoops of delight.
He is not acting professionally at all in this video.
@@earlysda huh? The man has a PhD in meteorology and obviously knows the dangers. This is his passion, if you can't hear it in his voice you're not paying attention.
@@bobbyheenan4061 Show this video to 7 billion people, and without doubt over 80% would say he is not acting professionally at all.
My neighbors ran outside in a strong typhoon because some of their carport panels were being blown away. They were just as unprofessional as this Mr. Reed is.
Having a PhD doesn't make one intelligent.
@earlysda
Reed knows exactly what he is doing. It may not seem like it to the untrained eye, but his actions are calculated risks, all drawn upon from, yes, his education and decades of experience.
@@prima808 Prima, you are cetainly welcome to support an unprofessional action.
I choose not to.
You’re an absolute BEAST, Reed! I love your videos, and the fact that you stood out there in a category 4 hurricane... you’re braver than I’d be. Thank you for capturing this!
Reed you are an absolute beast!!!! Pumping out content literally right in the middle of a storm! You are taking it up to a whole new level! People don't actually understand what goes into getting this to premier so quickly. You and your team are GOATS
@@zacc2462 It’s called passion!
@@zacc2462 To be fair to him he is also gathering his own data with his own sensors too,but yes he is a bit of a madlad
Thanks for watching, never stop chasing
The GOAT
@@ReedTimmerWx Always!! This is what real passion looks like! You are a Legend Reed!
Standing in the eye wall of a category 4 hurricane, just a few mph short of category 5. Holy crap!! As I sit here in sunny Tennessee.😂 The most passionate storm chaser on the planet that ever was or ever will be. Legendary.
Stay safe 🙏
Absolutely 💯
If you think you think this is really a high cat4 landfall you’re as gullible as the day is long.
I know right. Im in nashville and i am loving our weather finally. Fall and spring is my favorite weather for sure here
@@froggynzack oh it has been amazing. We are at a campground right now soaking in the fall weather.
Reed racing to meet the eye wall while dodging downed trees screaming "WWOOOOOW" or the "wait till you guys see this" and show us the waves in this video. I'll never forget it, what a ride!
I lost both my cars and most of my house to the 3foot water that came through my house. Mercifully my dogs and cats weren't hurt. But I never thought the wind would never stop. I have been through a number of hurricanes from hurricane Hazel to this one and this was the worse one. Hope we don't get another like this
Your last 150 mph storm was 18 years ago, so if your over 60, odds are that you won't live to see another. If your under 40, you'll probably see several.
Also lost my house to it because I’m in a rural area only like 5 feet above sea level next to a river so the river flooded into my house but I’m fine now rebuilding my house in a year
I pray we never get another one like this. I was in Placida in my home during the worst of the storm & I agree it seems like it would never let up. I don’t know if I could stay for another one like this & i’ve been down here for 26 years and lived through many storms & I was never frightened until this one. I’ve never been paranoid before but I think we’re all getting a little paranoid when we’ve lived through a storm like this. 🙏
Hold on! Is he in the middle of the eye of the storm? I'm in central Florida, already hunkered down and the wind gust is only @ 45 mph , right now.....Jeez man! this is beyond unbelievable. You were born for this 👏😱😳
you got hit by it to?
I feel so sorry for everyone affected, Reed please keep yourselves safe 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Florida has been getting hit by hurricanes for centuries. I do not feel sorry for anyone that lives there... it was their choice knowing full well that their property would get destroyed by one. As a U.S. citizen and a non-Florida resident, I am getting sick and tired of my Tax Dollars going to bail them out every year.
@@BL-jt3qt If you don’t like it then leave! Go to Russia they don’t use their tax dollars to help those in need.
@@cliffordsoukup2472 It would be cheaper for U.S. Tax Payers to move all of the Floridiots out, then fence off Florida and let it grow back to the swamp land that it originally was instead of spending Trillions of dollars to keep rebuilding it.
It makes me sad to see the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. God bless and protect Florida and all who have been affected by this monster storm. Mr. Reed I hope your ok.
@@lucymartinez4182 ... with that kinda excitement, he's more than ok ... may GOD protect them both and the people in Florida !
There is no better high than the high you get when you're there in the thick of it watching, hearing, feeling, experiencing mother nature unleashing her truly awesome power. This guy is crazy. I love him for it! I’m working out here and have seen the damage it’s caused, hats off to everyone who stayed during this storm.
Reed you are still a madman! Amazing footage...but its not worth your life. PLEASE take great care!
I think hes a jrk off.
Some of the best storm surge footage I've ever seen. I love how Dr.Reed always gets his adrenaline rush from his storms
Yesssss!!!
I love the weather... especially storms...Reed is the only guy I know that gets within a stone's throw of a tornado and lives to tell about it...keeping in mind for those who seek to do the same please keep your personal safety in mind.. keep calm and chase on!!
I live in Parrish Florida, Manatee County and lived through Ian. The storm surge and all that water is insane! Thank you for showing this.
Dr. Timmer: Wow, thanks for the informative look at what the actual horror a hurricane brings to peoples lives. I have never seen a storm surge before until you risked your well being to bring this to us. Stay safe.
Dr. Timmer, I was closely following you yesterday with great angst and then your feed went blank. My 12 year old son and I finally felt relief when we saw your video on CNN!
Excellent job of documenting this and I hope you will be able to share details of this storm event from beginning to end. Keep up the great work.
Respect from Kentucky.
Watching from Ky as well. Go Cats & and Reed!?
The power of it is…I have no words. Stay safe Dr. T, I’m sure you’re right where you want and are supposed to be!
I love seeing how happy and passionate this man is about weather. It brings a smile to my face. Great footage as always. :)
Glad you guys are all happy, people died, many lost everything, and the damage was catastrophic. Many people rode this out in complete terror. I was lucky and evacuated. Please show some respect.
I know you probably wont see this, but you are a legend Reed! Saw some negativity on Twitter regarding your video on the storm surge and people thinking you're insane for being at that place during a hurricane. But dont let them get you down, its amazing to feel your adrenaline during livestreaming all these storms over a year. Keep it up, already looking forward to tornado season!
This video is the only way to show what happened. This is what he does, he risked his life to show others this storm. This is what he was born to do and he's smart and knows what to do and what not to do. AMAZING FOOTAGE THANKS!!!

You perfectly nailed it. Recorded the whole powerful cat 5 Ian. Nice job! That storm made a real high storm surge and most people were taking shelter. I hope you recovered from that high damaging storm.
Reed you ALWAYS have the best footage!!! Cant get any better then the video like we are standing in the middle of eyewall!
I first heard of you when you came to my city last year (Houma LA) for Hurricane Ida and I thought you were nuts for being out in that beast! Especially driving all the way to Lockport to get in the eye!!! But I couldn’t stop watching because you were showing me my town flying away and being destroyed while all I could see is my neighbors roof blow away piece by piece. What you do is dangerous yet fascinating and I (and many others) thank you for it!!! Stay safe! 🌀

Reed was just born to do this ..there’s nothing fake about his enthusiasm..he understands the danger of these types of storms , hell in 2018 he was smack-dab in the middle of Hurricane Michael mind you with the window rolled down in his truck while it was putting the beats on Pensacola and Mexico Beach..Beast mode be damned.!!!!

Probably starts with education in meteorology, climate sciences and or geophysics. If you love it enough, it can be done.
This video Reed took is on Pine Island / Lee County which is currently off the grid. Only 1 road in and I'm assuming he rode it out there with the massive storm surge. As long as there was a higher building on Pine Island he should be fine. He’s probably prepared as his vehicle had a lot of gas on top of it from looking at the video and he will emerge soon I would bet once the grid goes back online or he can get off Pine Island. His vehicle may have even got swept away if he didn't have it secured somewhere. I have friends in Fort Meyers Beach that said vehicles were going everywhere in the surge. So, who knows at this point, but either way hope he was prepared and hunkered down.
he did lose the vehicle and i hear the bridge took damage.
