FIRST FLASH FLOOD INTERCEPT of 2023 - tragic flooding in New England
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 16 июл 2023
- This video shows the first flash flood intercept of the 2023 flood season. The damage caused by this flash flood is why the life threatening tag was included in the flash flood warnings by the National Weather Service. This flash flood carved up Highway 113 near Madison and Conway, New Hampshire after 3+ inch rainfall rates. The boulders and sediment from the flash flood buried a pickup truck and forced residents to evacuate. This was a second flash flood event after the tragic flash floods in Vermont and eastern Pennsylvania and southern New York. With El Nino raging in the Pacific Ocean, we expect this late summer into fall to be very active for flash flooding. Turn around, don't drown!

I knew when you posted on Twitter that you were going to New England there would be no NASCAR race on Sunday. Your footage is amazing. Thanks for all you do Reed. Never Stop Chasing!
You know the weather is bad when you see Reed Timmer cruising in your neighborhood
Yep. It's when I start to pay attention. I keep an eye on Reed so I know when to panic.
Facts 💯
Right about that
Bruh...if he's ever up here in Alaska...I'm not sure if I leave or stick around to find out why😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dr Reed Timmer once again running toward danger to show and explain the dangers of flash flooding. He is an American Treasure. Thanks Reed for all you do for all of us. God bless you brother
Thanks, Reed. You’re better than any corporate media in times of weather disaster. I have friends up there and I appreciate this video.
Great footage Reed. I didn't think you would come out to the Northeast. I'm from CT and we got heavy rain as well and had flooding in many areas. Nothing like this though.
Soo true
Reed is an amazing human for doing all of this.
Yo... Its crazy seeing reed in my area after 20 years of watching him in the Midwest. There are multiple shots with places I have literally been. Wild.
Heck of a way to get the bugs washed off your vehicle! Stay safe Reed!
Reed thanks for delivering news that all of us want to know. You are POPULAR!
New England is my favorite place was watching all day yesterday for rotating Supercells. Had several watches and warnings but only one EF 0 Around Worcester county. NH and VT got slammed hard. Thanks for coming into the area Reed. Definitely always value your opinion and observations.
I watched a rotating mezzo cloud go right over my job in Philadelphia. My co workers couldn't believe it
I hear that, I live in Rhode Island and the "Blackstone River" is still pretty angry !!
I think he's awesome! How can you not get excited about weather with Reed? It's sad but good to be able to see the reality people back there are facing.
Hi Reed. Thanks for coming up to New England. As you saw, we get some crazy weather too! Safe travels from northeast CT. Best,
Awesome footage! Got some pretty bad flooding here in southeast PA as searches for missing people are ongoing. Been a fan for 4 years now, and you know you got bad weather when this man pulls up!
Prayers for New England Nice chase, Reed! Never stop!
We've been here since '86 and never have I seen 113 like that. My plans were cancelled today because of closed roads.
We were up there last week working and it was brutal. The valleys are narrow, which makes it hard for water to flow.
Dang! 😲 This is my old stomping grounds for over 25 years. NY and much of New England, including Wooster. Coastal rains, Yes. Flooding never. Tornadoes hail No! Those road breakaways scare me the most for You Dr Reed! Please stay safe and well now! Brightest Blessings to whomever chooses to read this! 😳✌️❤️🦋🙏
Everyone up there please stay safe...
We never get weather like this in New England, so it's really quite a shock. Thankfully where I live in southern New England it hasn't really impacted us too badly. Just lots of rain and thunder, some minor flooding here and there. Vermont really did get it the worst.
Agree
I had a feeling you would travel to my neck of the woods. It’s been crazy. Yesterday was wild.
Texas Wed... Massachusetts by Monday... Key West by Saturday....
Great report and images, Reed🌟
Prayers for all the affected🙏
What car rental company approved a new BMW SUV for Reed for a chase??? Bad mistake.
I live in southern New Hampshire and yesterday we had several Tornado Warnings which is very unusual for the Northeast region, thankfully where I was there wasn't any major flooding and even if there was, I was on higher ground.
Great coverage, Reed. Hey media, this is what real journalism looks like!
Great footage Reed sending love and prayers to the people impacted thank you Reed for all you do.
Great video Reed & team. Flash floods are so powerful, and people need to heed warnings. Thank you for your efforts to report and educate all of us regarding extreme weather conditions.
Born and raised New Englander here. Never seen anything like this in my life. Absolutely wild stuff. Thank you for the footage!
You really never stop chasing! it was very interesting thank you!
Oh I feel so sorry for the people living in this area. This is absolutely devastating for them. Thank you for showing us Reed.
Ps :if reed see this is ur my favorite meteorologist )he loves his job sm he did this made his life and I want to be like him and he will always be my fav
Wow, incredible. Those roads are destroyed due to the flooding and debris flow. So very sad for the destruction and I hope all people and animals are safe. Thank you for being there for us, Reed.
Incredible footage! 👍👍🐐🐐🐐🐐
Better footage than WMUR - Thanks Reed!
Love getting coverage from this part of the northeast. Thank you Reed!
Boy this year's weather has just been NUTS!
THIS STORMING TOUCHES SOO MANY IN SOO MANY DIF WAYS: I WORKED AT SUMMER CAMPS FOR KIDS IN VT AND NH -- NOT A GOOD SITUATION AT THIS TIME!!!
I live in Gloucester Massachusetts and was hoping to see a tornado but just got rain and one or two rumbles of thunder and that was about it. There was a EF 0 in north Brookfield Massachusetts yesterday though
Been watching reed for years now hit just about every major weather event. Living in mass and not having many tornado warnings or major storms except snowstorms we had a tornado warning for my area . I told my wife that reed would be on his way to our part of the country. With all the rain and washouts glad to see a weather legend show up 👍👍
I never thought that i would see reed in New Hampshire!
Thank you for coming to New Hampshire.
I was on the outskirts of major catastrophic flooding in central N.J. 1971. Whole towns were under water in many areas. Prayers for all being affected! Flood waters terrify me. Stay safe Reed!
Thanks for showing this. Its hard to understand these flash floods if you don't live in that kind of area. Seeing how those roads fall apart is amazing.
Great Coverage, Reed! Thanks for sharing your world with us.
Mother nature still holds the aces, what power she has. Unbelievable
Flooding freaks me out the most of weather events. I’ve had nightmares about floods, yet beautiful dreams about tornados.
Wow! AMAZING footage Reed 👍
I live in the Lakes Region of NH, and I have never seen anything like this before. Our whole area is just a mess, and we have more storms coming today. Be safe out there, people. It's not over yet.
Reed God bless you for everything you do your an incredible man God bless you keep safe praying for all the people from these damaged places
Yes, so sorry to hear about this tremendous storm, BC Canada had similar storms that washed out the highways the only highway that connected BC to the rest of Canada. We got through it, so hope that you do too! One World!
Been watching you since before your dominator days, grew up wanting to be a storm chaser just like you, joined the army instead but might always go back to college. You are one of the few major inspirations I’ve had in my life.
Kudos to the sound editor on this video!
Wow! Prayers for everyone experiencing this.
I can only imagine what that flash flood would’ve looked like at its peak. Incredible!
Yes I just missed it unfortunately
Thanks for the video and info Reed
Hi from Vermont! Thank you for sharing the stuff that went on in our state!
Most folks associate Vermont with good skiing and romantic moonlight. This is damn scary. Hang in there, people.
When a live stream becomes a live flood!
Thanks again, Dr. Timmer.
Maine is an awesome place. We made a trip up there several years ago. Like taking a trip back in time. Camden and points West were so much fun. Please recover quickly.
You always put the safety of others first before your own, any one who is in harm’s way owes their life to you because you get the warning out to them
Happy to hear everyone's okay.
That was incredible video Reed well done. The power of mother nature...wow!
Welcome to my neck of the woods!
Nicely done! You pronounced Worcester correctly. And with the New England accent 😊😊😊😊
So happy for you to be able to get this coverage. I live in these parts currently and super scary seeing all my local rivers raising so much and hoping it doesn't effect us. We still have forecasted storms coming in later on this week even tonight.
Props to Reed for correct pronunciation of the city
Thanks for this. This is a real good example why it's important to carry flood insurance. All it takes is once and your investment, your home, is wiped out and regular homeowners ins does not cover floods.
Reed you missed the tornado that set down in N. Brookfield, MA. It was only rated at F0 with 80 MPH winds and stayed on the ground for 2 miles.
*Thank you for this!*
I feel so lucky. We only got 5.5 inches of rain over here in Waterbury Connecticut and our basement only flooded to a depth of half an inch. I can't imagine the hardship they're going to go through.
Welcome too New England Reed! Wishing you safe travels
Personally, the slide-in windows were distracting from the great video footage. THX for getting into the 'Danger Zone'
Joplin Missouri here.
I just discovered your channel and I'll be watching with great interest. 👍
Reed we get horrible floods here in Pennsylvania. Mainly in the county
Dominating in a BMW! Wasn’t expecting that. Nice to see you checking out other weather events. Fast moving water is no joke. Stay safe out there.
Dang that is a lot of water. That Tacoma will come right out with the crawl button! Reed you have the best coverage out there. Keep up the good work.
Looks like it saved that house from being washed away. Served as a dam so to speak
The rental car company gave him a bmw that he has to be careful with😂😂
Whats up reed timmer great live stream 🔴🌪️🌪️⚡⚡👍💯💯👍🔴
wow. tyvm for ur coverage.
We had major flash flooding here back in '09, but most of ours was standing water. The rainfall was too much for the sewers here to handle. I feel those people. We had I am guessing around 3 ft of water in our basement here from that storm.
what radar are you using to track the storm?
Painfully familiar to us across the river in Vermont. Renewed flash floods last evening in Northeast Kingdom and southeast of Burlington almost a week after our cataclysmic flood.
Be careful Reed ! I thank you for the videos !🎉🎉
@6:35 the house, garage and Toyota clearly appear to have withstood the flood in tact! Shout out to the homeowner/truck owner!
can't fight Mom Nature!
Fantastic footage! Never stop chasing!
Was on i89 southbound Montpelier vermont to Richmond yesterday and it rained like this for a solid 25 min straight. Can't imagine 24 hrs of it.
Dr, Timmer is in. Been seeing your ex on TV a lot lately. Don't worry, you don't need a relationship right now. You're doing important work.
😳why would you even mention this?!?
That truck looks like the new Tacoma Goalie model. It definitely saved that front porch.
jersey too had floods
Hi Ried. Glad to see you doing well. Even though these storms are scary, it’s very fun and interesting to learn about these massive beauties! Thanks for the great content as always. :d
I’ve seen rainfall and flash flooding events like this and even much worse too many times here in Southern WV and South Central WV over the many years And I feel bad for the people I have to deal with storms like this, no matter where it happens
Hey Reed wish you had been here at Nash County NC We. Had an EF3 tornado today
Love you Reed!
You never see high risks that north
Always watch the mountains. Landslides, rockslides, debris flows and etc. Sometimes just from massive snow melt.
As you're introing this video (0:26 heading north on Holden St.) you are almost up to crossing the path of the 1953 Worcester Tornado (70 years ago, June 9). 48-mile path - Petersham, Barre, Rutland, Holden, Worcester, Shrewsbury and beyond. Never Stop Chasing!
I was looking to see if someone mentioned this! My dad was a student at Assumption College during that tornado. He and the student he was tutoring over the summer were in a classroom and were caught in the eye, which went right over them. They had to hold on to doorknobs to keep from getting sucked down the hallway and out into the tornado. They had minor injuries but were very lucky!
Awesome video Reed wish you would have streamed live from there but I definitely enjoyed the video hopefully you will be chasing soon this week
Reed is amazing! @4:00 those river stones/boulders are worth a fortune here! If I had a huge truck and trailer I'd take them ALL back to Angelo! Big $!
I live in this area and something I've never taken into account because we have never really had floods like this that I can remember.
It's all mountainous terrain so when you live down mountain 3 in an hour for 2 hours or 3 hours gives you almost a water avalanche type effect.
Moving forward I'm going to always keep this in mind where I live in conjunction to elevation, where the rivers and streams are on my property and I would never live on this road at the bottom like these people just because of extenuating circumstances like this.
You always want to be higher up.
It was pretty bad
Wow,sad but that gray car actually stopped the house from flooding !
