I'm a weather nerd. I follow & am fascinated, primarily, by tornadoes but living in AL I'm also interested in hurricanes. I want to compliment you on this video. I watch a lot of storm videos & yours is the clearest example of storm surge I've ever seen. You stayed put & thus gave the winds & surge context for your viewers. I think it could be used as an educational tool for kids & other storm virgins to illustrate how intense the winds can be even in a cat2 as well as how storm surge "works" & how fast it happens. Great job! Congrats & blessings
TheActualTruth God is the Creator of all that is “seen and unseen” Colossians 2, and allows storms across the globe ( called “weather “). But we are the ones who live on a planet that’s been corrupted by sin. That said, God tells in His word that He takes no pleasure in the blood of anyone, but that all might seek Him , though He is not far from us. He gave us free will to live where we chose to. I have worked in LA off and on since KATRINA and RITA. These storms will always be here. We fortunately can be prepared to our best, although it is a sad situation for many to whom my heart goes out. I worked LAURA and have already had a meeting with my company to head back to LA after things settle after DELTA. Respectfully yours
Very nicely shot the structure of the hurricane taking all the risks especially the center of the eye when it had stopped raining all of a sudden and then it was followed by the heavy rains along with the storm surge which was the .back of the hurricane . I read about it and through this video I practically saw it. Thanks guys for taking this wonderful video. Be careful and safe .
Good advice for earthquake country too, because lowlands can be swampy, and then you get liquefaction, which just jiggles your house to death. Solid bedrock is always better. And of course, with earthquakes you sometimes get tsunamis, so....yep, high ground.
How about you all stop putting CO2 in the atmosphere instead of praying. If the water temperatures are that high, hurricanes will form. It's basic physics. God can't do anything about that fact, as prayer doesn't help stop gravity if you deliberately drive your car over a cliff. So if you want to pray to alleviate humans from natural desasters like hurricanes and wildfires, pray for people to stop their consumerism and ressource wasting lifestyle.
Bet it's insane to be in the perfect path to experience the rainbands, eyewall, eye, eyewall again, and rainbands again. Interesting how winds blow one direction on one side of the wall then go the opposite direction on the other side. Feel bad for Louisiana being hit twice in 6 weeks apart from hurricanes. Hope everyone there has been safe.
I sat in my garage approximately 20-25 minutes away in Lake Charles from this very spot and watched it rip through my neighborhood with no problem nor obstructions. I pray everyone made it through.....again!

Dry air is said to have driven the stronger winds in the upper part of the atmosphere down to surface level, even though said dry air and wind shear eroded the south half of Delta. Even hours after the storm had passed, the winds were still pretty strong, which is unusual. Yeah winds tend to be a little stiff after a hurricane passes, but these winds were more stiff than average hours after. The rain ended long before the winds finally died down.
