@MollyBoyTV Molly lad bro, check out this 90s music band called Seven Mary Three song called Cumbersome (react to the official music video). You got to check out this guy's singing vocals bro.
4:15 The software 7.0 line is an odd one you'd have to have been there to get...when this album came out, AOL (America Online) would put free CD's in every store and the big selling point was the latest version number...and 7.0 was the version at the time, and they were EVERYWHERE...many of SOAD's songs focus on topics like commercialism, consumerism, and capitalism...they are Armenian, and if you know the history of that region of the mid-east, you can understand why...
You are absolutely right, their music is choppy, with a lot of time, tempo, rhythmic and stylistic changes. Usually this can really be annoying or exhausting with a lot of bands, but they are good in making it flow so seamless, that you can easily vibe with it. That's what makes them so great. Also their lead vocalist is one of a kind. They are definately my favorite band of all time.
System of a down is often labelled Nu Metal, because they had their breakthrough during the Nu Netal era. And there are clearly Nu Metal influences. But there is much more than that. They themselves don't really like that label. They have elements of nu metal, thrash metal, speed metal, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, punk, eastern european and middle eastern folklore. A more accurate label would be alternative metal. They are clearly on the experimental side of metal.
watching your face drop at 5:30 was great hahaha I think watching you react is also giving me goosebumps. Not just from the music, but reacting along side someone else adds to the goosebumps. I read a comment saying that you were reacting to the music of their teenage years in Metallica, and I thought that was cool. This is the music of my teenage years. You'll definitely enjoy the band! 🤠
Remember when CD's came out and they told us they would last forever. I had to replace a lot of my 90's CD's multiple times too through loss and scratches. Hooray for playlists.
@@bobhawke7373 ya they never mentioned that scratches would completely ruin them 😂 playlists are nice but there's nothing like putting in a CD and letting it play from beginning to end
I still remember myself 16 years ago at the age of 10, alone in my room jamming to this song, thinking: "This sounds so f*ckn good". And that's how all my passion for this band started.
SOAD rules. Two of my favorites are "Psycho" and "Deer Dance." Both off of the Toxicity album. Their guitarist (Daron Malakian) is a madman musical genius, but he does not play many solos.

Close to 13k views in 1 day! Looks like we need more System of a Down. Suite-Pee Sugar…the first 2 albums are play start to finish no skipping. Anything off those will work for me. An incredible one of a kind band🤘
AWESOME REACTION MOLLYBOYTV! SYSTEM OF THE DOWN HAVE MANY GOOD TRACKS!! "CHOP SUEY" "ARIEL" AND "BYOB" AWESOME BAND!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS AWESOME VIDEO 😊 🩷 🔥 🤘 ✌️
SOAD are one of my fav concert experiences as well. Saw them at a smaller venue when they were touring the Hypnotize album. I had floor seats, general admission, and was able to get right up front. Serj first came out in pajamas and a house coat doing Tai Chi 😂. They are so good live.
Damn, I must have had bad luck, SOAD is one of the only bands I've ever seen live where I left thinking, "what the fuck did I just pay to see?" It was literally the worst live show I have ever been to. I literally couldn't even tell what song they were playing like 85% of the time because the guitars drowned out everything. Thankfully, Korn opened for them and they killed it (as is tradition).
@@chrisj7656 KORN always kicks ass. It was a small second stage like during the day when I saw SOAD. Some bands sound shitty at some venues too I’ve noticed. Sound man problems idk.
Good to see you up and about, mate! Strap in for a wild ride with these guys! "Fuck The System" will make your head come clean off!!! SO MANY BANGERS!!!
My favorites are Chop Suey, Ariels, Question, Hypnotize, Forrest, I‐E‐A‐I‐A‐I‐O, Streamline, Sugar, and BYOB. All bangers you won’t be disappointed guaranteed.
My top 3 System of a Down songs have to be 1 - Suite-Pee 2 - Soil 3 - P.L.U.C.K. All 3 of which are off their 1st album, Serj Tankian is another extremely talented vocalist, and on those 3 songs he is absolutely brutal it's amazing, I highly suggest them
System of a Down is radically great every song feels completely different from the last also both the singer, Serj Tankian, and the Guitarist, Daron Melakian both have their own respective bands and each comes out with bangers! Great music library to dive into.
OMG I can't believe I'm a whole day late on this one. I've been waiting for the start of your SOAD journey. I could almost cry. 😅 I'm super excited for you. lol This is a fantastic reaction and I know this video is going to do well. Congratulations. 💜 I've said this before but your dynamics (style and choices) are amazing... and I watch a shit ton of reactions. Top tier stuff. I've probably sent you a list of their songs a million times already... but just in case: BYOB, Chop Suey, Aerials, Hypnotize, Question!, Lonely Day, Sugar, Spiders. To start. lol 😅
I love watching people hear the music I loved back in the day for the first time. It is like I get to experience the song for the first time with them all over again.
Awesome, bruv!!! These guys are amazing...they are Armenian Americans and they really rep their home culture hard...you can hear that Mediterranean flavor sprinkled over their tracks...LOVE these guys!!! This is ALSO a great rabbit hole...they have GREAT tracks... "Chop Suey" "BYOB" "Aerials" "Spiders" "Hypnotize" are ALL must listens!!! Thanks!!!
It is genuinely lovely to see someone having the exact same genuine reaction that we all had the first time around when these songs were released. You have barely scratched the surface so far, this journey is something I am sure you are going to love!
Late 90's and early 2000's my early teen years, rock was my world, everything about it, so it's so weird seeing people saying they never heard music that was my life, thats just show how music is so wide and theres always something to discover for eveybody in every music genre.
I think it's called Nu-Metal. For songs, BYOB, Ariels, Chop Suy (Suicide Chopped in Half), those are the ones people usually start with. Great Band, they grow on you.
This is a really great example of a band where the traditional music (Armenian, in this case) of their background influences/informs the output of the band within the context of the heavy music they make.
I'd vote for "Aerials" next, 'cause that's my favourite song of theirs, but they're cool in general, so it's all good. Yes, this song was a good place to start. I think this was the first song of theirs that I ever heard, actually. Serj Tankian has a great voice...very powerful. They're an Armenian-American band from California.
Growing up I loved metal with guitar solos and I had friends who only liked nu metal and that didn’t have solos in it. Now a days I can appreciate both for what they are but I do remember just being obsessed with solos in the beginning of my metal journey
This era of music is unbeatable. I highly HIGHLY recommend "Pain" by Jimmy Eat World. They were a massively popular band whose music is unfortunately more well-known than their actual name. Amazing lyrics, solid guitar work, and yes, a brief but very worthwhile solo.
They are all Armenian and their music has the vibes of such. Heavy, yes, but you can hear it in their music. First rock concert I ever went to, they were a part of, back, back, back in the day. Like 98, 99, when their first album came out in a small club lol. Shit was awesome
What's crazy about this reaction is, only the other day Serj came into my work. He lives in NZ now, and I was completely fanboying out, while still trying to play it cool 😂
System of a Down is just controlled chaos musically. The tempo changes and drops are so random, yet flow together so well. Very few bands can pull off what they have done and make it sound so natural.

Everybody forgets Serj had brilliant solo stuff too
Money, Honking Antelope, and Saving Us (off the top of my head) are my favs from Elect the Dead.
still, SOAD is better
I still listen to his concert with The Auckland Orchestra, brilliant performance!!!
Some of my favorite stuff is his songs he did with Buckethead
