I've never liked Twitch, never liked how their app or website works, I just don't like being on it or using it and I'm not one who watches live streams while live. I would much rather watch when they upload the VOD go their YT VOD channels. RUclips just functions better, reccomended videos actually helps me find new people and channels to follow. It's so much easier to navigate and find what you want and who you want.
Remember when Mixer had that thing that would cycle through streamers close to the end of a match? Just cycling through intense moments was such a cool way to find new people
If people are curious, Harris Heller did a long interview with the current CEO, and he covered a lot of the questions people have about the state of Twitch. He also does impromptu interviews with streamers, so he'd probably join a stream if KF asked.
Here’s another example of why the service in a steady decline: The amount of streamers who are online more than 5 times per week are declining rapidly. I do remember someone who streamed for around 300-400 hours per month. Then in late 2023 her viewership started to decline as she was now streaming less than 100 hours per month.
I love Twitch and I really do consider it to be a viable alternative to conventional modes of entertainment. What I believe Twitch lacks, however, is a transcendent personality/creator whom people would exclusively identify with the Twitch brand. A home grown, well received and charismatic talent that would take on the mantle of an ambassador of sorts. A starlet that could really be able to push the platform upward and yes, I also believe this individual would be female.
Streaming is expensive and their income is hindered by prime subs. How many twitch streamers do people realistically follow or watch? 1-3? 100-30% of their constant viewers don't generate any extra revenue Yeah youtube has to maintain tons and tons and tons of storage, but they can easily optimize delivery and storage, also youtube's algorithm incentivizes discovery, and going to a new vid means new ad impressions
Twitch’s mobile experience is clunky and their pretty much a livestream only platform-so if my schedule doesn’t match a streamer’s then I’m not watching that streamer-it can’t be helped.
Twitch used to be a good platform to stream and is still is not a bad one at that but nowadays people on twitch can be toxic or condecending at times and there has been cases were people have acting toxic on twitch with little to no reprication or consequences to their words and or actions and is not a good view for twitch imo and the fact that depending on a certain thing you are thar you can't control not going to say what it is so RUclips doesn't end up deleting my comment they will even not give the person the proper penalty depending on that thing you are so yeah twitch has biases which is hurting how people view them
I've never been a fan of twitch, I get why creators have moved over there, it is in some ways easier than making videos, but the only interesting thing for the viewer is talking to the creator.
Twitch is all about community engagement big or small but the costs of hosting so many live performers is costing too much money. RUclips's live stream experience is worse in evert way but VOD rewind and that's why twitch stays alive. Also this isn't a fun answer but the cuts that creators get from twitch is way too creator favored than it needs to be to be a business

For me personally... Twitch is for people that are live for me. RUclips is for recorded content.
1:41 Am I the only one that sees the face, dead center, in the video wall?? 😦
I thought I was going crazy seeing it😂😂😂
@carlos16720 Same! Glad someone else noticed. 😅
