Frankly, if RUclips decided to actually _try_ at making their streaming section more navigable and fleshed out instead of just occasionally bribing Twitch streamers to switch over, Twitch wouldn't stand a chance. Every year I witness Twitch sink deeper and it perplexes me why RUclips won't invest more time into improving their streaming interface.
RUclips doesn't need to that's why. Despite how much ppl complain, RUclips has become almost a must have. Twitch is niche and will always be. RUclips just has to wait and they will outlive Twitch easily.

I'll give you a perfect example of this so you'll see why it's worth it: You've probably heard of the game Genshin Impact. Anyone were familiar with that game has also probably heard of the game they made after that called star rail. Now, these are very popular games with a lot of young people playing them, and one particular meme from Star rail was one of the characters Japanese attack voice lines "KURU KURU!" Somebody took those adorable voice lines (which were already a meme because of how freaking cute they were) and vocoded it over the Super Mario world ending theme, specifically the part that you hear in the "pet the X" memes. That video currently has 2.2 million views on RUclips. Guess where the video came from? Facebook. That's right, FACEBOOK spawned a viral meme for a popular gocha game. If you actually care about growing your audience, stream everywhere at once, RUclips, TikTok, kick, and yes, even Facebook.

Advertisers will want this and twitch has done it with their blessing. I genuinely can't imagine how Twitch is this out of touch with its user base. They will be shutting down with no revenue and simply won't know why. Truly a ship with no captain.

If he can dodge RUclips's bullshit, and if the money's good, he will not skip a beat transitioning to RUclips. He already has a VOD channel, all he needs is a new layout, and he's good to go. It is genuinely insane to me how companies think tightening the leash for extra money is ever a good idea, these are the people who pay your bills. They would be absolutely nothing without their creators, yet they treat them like they are lucky to even go live. They should be on their knees, begging for advice, yet they are too diluted to ever ask for help.
As we see, this is the result of tightening the leash a bit too much, as the head popped off and now they are losing their bloodline of streamers and their sponsors
I think the craziest part about this is that it doesn’t necessarily matter if they push this through or not - big creators that have their own ties to brands and their own networking are likely already planning exit strategy just because they even suggested this idea at all

@@0verWay The reality is we use Reddit because it is where the users are. Going anywhere else, you will not find the userbase. Bill gates is not going to do an ask me anything on some random website, the reality is that the users of Reddit are the goldmine that we go there for.
Not really. People who use 3rd party apps are in the minority. The problem is reddit is removing freedom to customize(which alot of people dont care about). And the possibility of more ads(imo what the majority is concerned about). Honestly i've tried other 3rd party apps and reddit is just easier to use. This one is especially wild because it's exactly the OPPOSITE kind of stupid that every other company is doing. Twitch is forcing you to not do ads, and everywhere else is forcing you to see as many giant ads as possible.
So twitch will force us to watch 6 non skippable ads and cut everyones pay, but if a creator gets a sponsor ad read thats the boogie man? Twitch will literally pimp out every single creator unless they don't get a slice of their pie I guess, and if thats the case their response is to ban the pie.
Another AWFUL change they slipped under the rug was the ability to multi-stream for non partners/affiliates. If you want to stream on twitch in ANY capacity, you are bounded to that site and that site only. RUclips, Kick and Rumble do not have this policy, so now aspiring streamers have to choose between simultaneously streaming on 3 different platforms all on the upswing, or shackle themselves to Twitch as the boat hits iceberg after iceberg. The optimal career move is becoming more and more obvious and time goes on…

The death of entertainment starts when corporations get involved. I miss the days when streaming and internet videos were starting out. It was a very wholesome time.
100% agree, It was inevitable unfortunatley, as soon as money is to be made then big corps will roll on through, the days of sweaty fighting game tournaments filmed with one camera looking at the screen with a bunch of nerds shouting and cheering are gone, the days of GDQ being a passion project are gone, games being released in their full and final form with no cash shops are gone, it goes on and on, i think even the next new thing that returns to it's roots will eventually fall because it will grow too big and the cycle begins anew.
I'm kinda tired of seeing ads on RUclips despite having RUclips Premium. This is a double-edged sword. The only solution is how the advertising sponsors change their guidelines. I don't want my fav creators going broke and I also don't want to get ads despite paying my hard-earned money for Premium. That's just my perspective
It's crazy how nearly 20 years later, RUclips is still the best platform for content creators despite all the terrible changes they make. It's even crazier how Amazon is so good at taking a successful business models and absolutely destroy it.

This is a stepping stone. As you said, this is a means to force every streamer to get their sponsorship through Twitch. However, eventually Twitch will adopt a policy similar to the UFC where if a sponsor is not directly affiliated with Twitch, you are not allowed to stream in association with that sponsor. For context, the UFC adopted a similar policy where a fighter can only dedicate a small percentage of their kit to endorsements. A short time later, UFC fighters had to adopt a policy where a fighter was banned from endorsing competing companies who were otherwise directly affiliated with the UFC company brand. I. E. a fighter endorsed by Under Armour or Nike could no longer where Under Armour or Nike kit because the UFC as a company now has a contractual sponsorship with Reebok. Refusal to adhere to UFC policy invalidates any agreement to fight in the UFC forthwith. So imagine for a moment that a game streamer could no longer stream or had to suspend their stream because it was found out that this poor streamer was using a PC built by CyberPower, or Origin, or Digital Storm; and they violated Twitch policy because company policy clearly states that in order stream you must adhere to the company endorsement and be using a PC made by Acer or maybe even Apple; and this just steamrolls down the line. To what boom mics you can use, to what headsets can be used, what books livereader's are allowed to feature; all the way down to what chairs you are allowed to sit in should you even decide to continue live casting instead of Vcast.
I've heard 'twitch is dead' so many times over the last couple of years, but this is the first time I thought, 'damn, I know plenty of creators that this will adversely effect'.
They'd be far more adversely affected if they left the platform.. Because doing that means you lose 80% of your viewers in the short term, and most won't come back. They have to rebuild a whole audience on RUclips, and the youtube audience is older and less emotionally clingy than the Twitch audience. Hardcore parasocial relationships are very profitable, and it's harder to get that going on youtube than on Twitch because there just aren't enough 13-18 year olds up in here. On youtube you're going to have to rely on whales, because there's not much of a tipping culture here. Twitch knows this, and they know that those who hop over to RUclips will earn WAY LESS than if they just hunker down and stay on Twitch. Welcome to exploitation. Literally what capitalism does. This rebelling against Twitch will do literally nothing, cause Twitch knows there's no alternative. Rumble is for nazis and incels. RUclips is a voluntary 90% cut to profits. Twitch is laughing its ass off at all these twitchers pretending they have somewhere to go. We will only solve stuff like this if we stop trying to defeat it one rule-change at a time... It's a systemic issue, not one of a few guys making bad decisions. They need to maintain growth, the only way to do that in a saturated market is to exploit harder, so that's what they do. This is how capitalism rots everything. Stock owners leave the second there's no more growth to find in a business. Twitch has to do this, because they need to grow or die... Capitalism.. Literally how it works. Investors don't keep their money in a dying platform. Twitch is trying to convince investors that there will be profits for them in the future by screwing over their workforce (streamers). Exactly how all the firings every year works. Investors want to see drastic measures being taken, that means the platform owner is willing to take steps. These are the steps they're taking to appease the investors... That's how it be.

RUclips's userbase isn't mostly comprised of lonely mark children who are willing to spend their parents/part-time job income on a guy who they watch play video games. "Content creators" who feel entitled to constant flows of income for doing nothing need to suddenly come up with a way of actually being valuable in their own right.
They announced this right after GDQ ended too. You can't run GDQ with these new rules; you need space for the couch, donation tracker, MSF/Prevent Cancer, the prizes, the sponsors at the bottom left.
Isn't that like the last half a decade for the platform
