I admire charlie my parents said if I get 30k followers They'd buy me a better camera for recording..begging u guys, literally begging.
I want a horror movie where the marketing team does everything they can to hide that it's a horror movie until release and then people go in and get traumatized
I’ve always said the exact same thing 😂 but I always wondered if they can legally do that.
Barbie
POV: The FNAF movie (jk but you know some parents are gonna swear it said it was a kids movie till the day they die)
Wouldn’t that be illegal?
I remain resolute in my belief that the best horror movies do exactly that - not advertise themselves as horror movies.
That's not to say they advertise a completely different tone or subject matter, mind you. They set the audience up for drama, they're honest about that. But they don't let on that it's "horror" drama until the audience is already in their seat and thoroughly invested.
Think about Jurassic Park. It's a movie about dinosaurs being resurrected, the wonders of future technology! And half the movie involves characters being eaten alive, or nearly eaten, by rampaging dinosaurs. Characters being hunted, trapped, brutalized by these animals. We see very few of these deaths directly, but the implied violence is absolutely horrific. Jurassic Park is a horror movie, through and through.
Having your memory erased on purpose and then forgetting why you had your memory erased so you go and try to remember everything is actually a really hilarious premise

Isn't that just Total Recall

There was an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation that was almost exactly like that lol
@@monowired But in Amnesia, Daniel did not go and try to remember everything. He went back into the castle to kill someone per instruction from his former self. Only then did he find clues along the way and remember, no?
The first insidious has a special place in my heart. To see what is happening with the franchise is devastating

Great franchise but the last two movies were kinda weak like what MK said. This one is definitely cash grab territory.

To be fair, Insidious 1 was the first movie to really popularize Tiny Tim music in horror, so they almost earned the trope
Insid 1 was a good time
Was gonna comment exactly this
We need Charlie to do Tiny Tim covers.
Hearing Charlie sing “living in the sunshine” was far scarier than The Red Door

Bro fr😂😂😂
16:38 Also scarier than the insidious demon.
I'm glad horror movies aren't scary anymore wish it went to trash sooner
Horror has come to a point where the true horror lies in being forced to see the movie in the first place.
Edit: The amount of bots in Charlie’s comment section could probably make a better horror movie than whatever this is.

💀 Fr. As a huge horror fan never have I ever been this offended by something I completely agree with
There's lots of good horror movies coming out though. Barbarian, evil dead rise, hereditary, X....etc
The last good horror movie i saw was Hereditary
To play devil's advocate, I kind of like that the theme of this movie was about after you successfully make it through trauma, how do you move on from trauma. And the main idea is you can't just forget it ever happened, because if you do, you aren't mentally ready for when life inevitably brings struggles again. It's message is to not forget, to confront it and learn from it, and that you can get through it with someone (your family).
This. I love this.
It was nice to see a film with an actual message
Well said
This!
Any movie can have a good theme. What matters is the execution of the theme.

It’s starting to feel like Mr. Krabs’ house from the “Me First Dollar!” Episode.
One of the biggest issues with this film was screen time for past characters.
I believe specs and tucker deserved a little bit more instead of just appearing on a RUclips clip.
Carl should have been involved in helping josh gain back his memory (since he was the one that took it away from him) instead of renai just doing it on the couch
Elise could have helped josh or dalton in the further and even face off against the red faced demon (which I believe had been teased throughout the series)
And yeah i expected more screen time for the red faced demon as well.
completely agree!!!
I already watched the film on Netflix, and i was not engaged for the entire film and i think that it is not good and completely forget about it and move on.
I saw this movie in theatres with my boyfriend and his mom, who have both been fans of the franchise for a long time. Maybe it was just the energy of being in a theatre full of fans, but I liked it. I definitely think they were overly milking the franchise, but it’s not nearly as bad a case as others, like the Conjuring 3.
Yeah I didn’t think it was that bad, the comments make it sound like it’s going down as the worst film in cinematic history😂 idk I enjoyed it
I agree in a full theatre it was worth the money at least. The last Conjuring movie that came out was doo doo! I would have been pissed if I paid for that. The red door had too many jump scares for sure but there was some good creepiness in the there. It’s a dumb/fun horror to watch on a Sunday night. There’s so much crap horror that a relatively ok horror movie nowadays is ridiculed like it’s the worst thing ever. Charlie’s too good for us now lol.
I don't mind the insidious films or the conjuring films but I always get so confused by which ones which
I think this one being direct sequel to 2nd movie is the final movie in this franchise, or at least the story of this family. I think they should make a new franchise or IP at this point.

It was hilarious rewatching Twilight with the context of Pattinson being Batman 😂
The last horror film to actually scare me was Hereditary, they nailed everything. The "blurry scary thing in the background" trope with the mother in the corner and in the attic, the shock horror of mutilation, the suspense chase.
Midsommar was also made by the same guy and was also great
That one was great. I couldn’t take my eyes off it.

Honestly surprised at how much Charlie disliked this one. It’s hardly the best horror ever & has its faults but I was surprised at how much I began to care about the father son dynamic & really enjoyed some of the execution. There’s worse ways to kill a couple of hours
For sure
yeah i think the problem is that horror people dont like it because its barely a horror movie and no one dies. its a pretty decent story of a father and son working through their problems together with a horror back drop. For me it really resonated as a story of a father and son finally breaking the addiction/abuse cycle.

My favorite horror movies are when the threat is super unknown and intimidating. Part of why I like The Thing and Alien so much is because the survivors feel really competent and they do the most reasonable or logical things in their situations, but are simply unaware of just how outmatched they really are
Those series are definitely in my top 5. Sigourney weaver was my first crush as a kid.
Add in the first 2 predator movies. For some reason those 3 series/sets of films take place in the same universe to me.
@@shadowstonar360same, I loved Sigourney Weaver and Alien is a horror movie I can look fondly back on
Making the characters competent actually makes the threat that much more intimidating. We see MacReedy systematically piece together how the Thing monsters behave, with the soldering iron blood test being a very clever idea for identification. In Alien, Ripley frequently makes intelligent decisions and once she takes command of the crew, the survivors actually listen to her orders. And Predator goes out of it's way to show that Arnold and his men are all badass soldiers, making their one by one deaths at the hands of the Predator midway through the film that much more significant. That's why these classic monster movies not only have their iconic monsters but also iconic heroes.

To be honest, I think this has been happening for a long time now. Every paranormal activity after the second one, and that's being generous, had entered that territory. There's honestly only been a handful of American horror films in the last ten years that pass the smell check and only a couple of those were by all definitions, good. Horror lost its way a long time ago but, arguably at least in the West I don't know if there ever truly was a tried and true method for success in that regard. The standards by which what people found truly a horror experience varied wildly even back in the day and quite a few sharks were jumped after one movie or another found a new way to make things scary, spooky, or actually horrifying and too often their sequels lose all the good will and meaning behind what made them good.

The art of horror and scaring people is becoming a lost art nowadays. I think a big thing that horror nowadays needs to rely less on cheap jump scares. They need to implement ways to overstimulate our senses and play with them to make us feel scared, feel unprepared for the scary. Make us feel like we are in the situation ourselves and full on creep and scare us this way, fancy camera movement and editing as well can help this but a good storyline as well can help make it make sense and keep the tension and the feeling of being on the edge while watching the movie. Just a shame that a lot of “scary” movies are just shock movies
