But as we all got older, I settled down and had a family. He has been divorced multiple times and never seems to be able to keep close friends or relationships. Eventually people see it’s all one-sided with him. My daughter is almost 3 and he’s never even shown interest in being an uncle to her. It’s like he competes with a toddler for attention. Just all really sad.

As someone with ADHD, I can recognize his "stream of consciousness". That's exactly what he's doing. I also go on tangents with branches of loosely-related ideas, and mist people with ADHD do. Granted most of us have FAR more self-awareness and get carried away in a conversation of interest with someone we know, not a hostage. At the end he even says "I got the impression you're a fellow NEURODIVERGENT person", thus admitting he identifies as ADHD/Aspergers. This blew me away. The reason being ‘cause I can see way too much of myself in him. He’s a lot worse, especially with just how long he goes on without any prompting or positive reinforcement, making it seem like he isn’t nervously trying to work his way up to any real point like I would, and instead just making the whole “beating around the bush” thing his entire shtick. There’s no higher objective beyond simply continuing to talk. The fact that I kept seeing words, phrases and speech patterns that I often use was the worst part. It was like looking at a caricature of my own issues, exaggerated for dramatic effect.

As a person that is dating a man that doesn't talk a lot. I feel like in the 2 years of our relationship he has said less to me than this dude unloaded on this complete stranger of a woman in an hour.
He speaks like a legitimate redditor who spends all of their time in debate servers. None of it makes any sense. At no point does he even try to make an attempt to ask her out on a date. The reason being ‘cause I can see way too much of myself in him. He’s a lot worse, especially with just how long he goes on without any prompting or positive reinforcement, making it seem like he isn’t nervously trying to work his way up to any real point like I would, and instead just making the whole “beating around the bush” thing his entire shtick. There’s no higher objective beyond simply continuing to talk.
The fact that I kept seeing words, phrases and speech patterns that I often use was the worst part. It was like looking at a caricature of my own issues, exaggerated for dramatic effect.
