I do believe Childe will get a well thought out arc, considering how much Mihoyo loves this character and his lore. Very nice analysis!
I believe that Childe is a good person in a bad situation.
Also, I would love to see an anylisis on Zhongli! Personally, I can see that Zhongli remminsess in old memories constantly, and it almost seems that he’s built walls of maturity over himself a a way to cope with freinds death.
Although that could just be me.
I actually have a script ready for Zhongli so it’s only a matter of time :)
Yeah in all the fatui we meet in the game I think child isn't that bad of dude you sure he awake a monster and almost destroyed liyue but he admitted that he was just a pawn and following order
I agree, I don't think Childe is evil. On my alt account, I'm a proud Childe main. He's traumatized, badly. So obviously that's why he is the way he is, I really don't think he has NPD, I think he has BPD, PTSD, ADHD, depression/anxiety.. shit like that.
It's important to remember that NPD is one of those things that someone can learn how to maintain and hold back from being disordered if they choose to work on it, but that doesn't mean it's going to fully stop affecting them. I do think that if Childe continues interacting with the Traveler and his siblings that he'll find something of a balance - a way to integrate this personality into the order of a life where he's not sacrificing himself as a tool for praise.
I'd actually really love to think about what a more well-adjusted Childe would look like - Someone who knows he had people to rely on even in moments of weakness, or who won't use him only if he's Powerful. He might need to be humbled into cutting off the braggadocious BS but a lot of that also comes from his fears that if people don't see him as powerful enough to keep around they'll leave.
Especially in the event with Shiki Taishou, the other get kicked from the Domain but he's still left there, he's probably trying to fight off feelings of being Abandoned everytime that happened, so made himself out to be indispensable to the other's success.
I know this comment is a year old but this really hits. I feel like Tartaglia feels important and gets that feeling of validation when he's being used. It's really kind of sad to be honest. I would love to see him find some sort of reprieve from this but that's just my lil hopeful brain.
I know he ain't real, but I wanna give him a big hug.
I whould had that Childe also seem to have a wrap sense of peace vs war. It's something you often see with vet coming back from mission, their can't feel safe, they see ennemy everywhere...
One of Childe tragedy is that he had to fight for his life for so long so young that the concept of peace elude him. Always trying to be stronger and his inflated sense of self may just be his way to take back control of his life.
But at the same time he cannot forget his time in the abyss so he always try to find scenario where he be at the center of the chao.
His familly may be the closest thing from peace he know, witch is why he can't help but keep them apart from the rest of his life.
I would say look through what little we know about scaramouche. I’m interested to see how Mihoyo will be able to make him redeemable enough to make a playable character.
Yeah, I'd like to let his story flesh out a bit more before really doing a psychoanalysis. Although maybe in the future there's room for a speculative psychoanalysis haha
I'm interested as well. In fact, I'm looking forward to seeing him again in the story
All the dubs display his character amazingly. Japanese is probably my favourite, just because he brings out the most boyish charm and utterly psychotic sides of Tartaglia and it's just so good. But I'm probably biased because JP dub is definitely my favourite.
I've also seen a theory that Childe got into fights after the abyss is because fighting makes him feel alive again. Falling in the abyss obviously gave him a lot of trauma so I think that theory is probably accurate
Honestly i never noticed some of the narcissistic tendencies he had I guess I probably was paying to much to the fact he tried to kill everyone and most of all his love for his siblings and for the stalkhome(I know I definitely misspelled this) syndrome thing honestly it could be true or he just grateful that she tuaght him to survive and his situation could of been alot worse not saying it was good but meny worse things that could of happened if he didn't meet his master
They didn’t give him title Childe cuz he’s a child😭 Childe in chinese translated roughly as a “young nobleman” sooooo
No its old English :D
it’s an old english title of a young lord who would likely be a knight-in-training, which checks out for childe since he’s the youngest harbinger and is pretty naïve in most of his duties besides fighting
I would say all the harbingers would be a good candidate. Why not start with the one we know her story is over? Signora?
Signora would be interesting but we haven’t actually spent much time with her. Most of the analysis would come from artifact and item descriptions, which can make things a little dicey, but I’ll definitely look into it.
If this series catches on and gets enough traction, then eventually I would love to do psychoanalysis in all of the harbingers. It would be awesome if they all exhibited a different psychosis, but we’ll see. Best thing to do now to support these videos :)
i don’t think he’s a bad guy in his heart, i think he’s extremely traumatized from his childhood and latched onto fighting since it’s one thing he knows he’s good at and it distracts him from being in his head
Another one would be dottore (which you can find in the genshin manga) dottore because I’m curious how genshin (if they decide to make him a playable character) can be redeemed and kaeya because he’s definitely got some issues of his own.
Itto might be another good foil for Childe, depending on what happens in the former's story quest.
What character to do next? I would say Bennett. Considering his role in (as of writing next patch) 2.3, I think there should be a whole lot of material to work with him. Me thinks he has some form of Depression.
Bennett is already on my list! Sadly, there's so little info on him... the sad fate of a Hangout Hero. But yes, 2.3 should be very informative :)
I WAS LISTENING TO THIS WHILE DOING SCHOOLWORK AND LEGIT JUST SHORT CIRCUITED HEARING THE OUTRO HEL P
The new scara lore do be feeding me though, chill with aster’s new video makes some pretty good points
i'm not sure i buy Childe having NPD, there are just too many things to disprove all the prerequisites from him to have it so lets go down the list from 7:15
1. this doesn't match at all, the list states that the self-importance needs to be "without Commensurate achievements" but Childe has plenty of achievements to show otherwise, youngest ever harbinger, surviving the abyss at 14 years old, incredible aptitude for combat, and the list goes on. BIG ego? sure, but it's been established with what he achieved, therefor it doesn't match this criteria.
2. could or could not be, he has a goal of being the strongest he can be, it's not really a fantasy of his, it's something that he works toward every chance he gets, that being said, he could also have fantasies about being greater than he is, so again I think it could go either way.
3.this one is kinda like the last one, depending on how big a scale you think! we know that Childe is the ONLY harbinger that treats his lesser fatui soldiers like actual human beings and not just pawns to be used, it's not hard to say what he thinks of other people that aren't from snezhnaya given what happen at the end of our fight with him tho.
4. ye no, this one is spot on
5. I'm not exactly sure when he act "entitled" exactly, the closest thing i can think of is with signiora, but i don't agree with that take, i think he's actually being more than reasonable given the situation, i don't think he's mad because signiora "stole his thunder" but rather by the fact that he was lied to, and manipulated and used for another harbinger's plan the entire time.
He is the youngest harbinger and he wants to always prove himself, being told that you're sent out on an important mission by someone you hold in very high esteem (Tsarista) just for it to turn out that apparently you're not trusted enough to get the job done and you were just a tool for essentialy a coworker, someone who's suppose to be your equal, and she gets all the credit despite you pulling out all the stops and putting your life on the line?
how can you not be angry at something like that?
6. ye that's fair
7. again, treats his soldiers well, thus showing empathy... BUT he did try to drown a whole nation to do his job so ye this is MORE than fair.
8. not that i can tell? do correct me if I'm wrong.
9. ye ok checks out.
so at absolute worst he matches 6 Criteria, but i think some of them are a bit more contencious or not as extreme as maybe you tried to portray them.
I tried not to bring up his family for these points because again they are very special, so just considered general statements and knowledge about him!
Childe has something wrong with him quite obviously, but i just don't think NPD matches perfectly, he has parts of it yes! but again i don't think it's a 1 to 1 match. But that's just what i think :)
Every single one of your videos just make me admire this game even more… knowing how deep Mihoyo goes to create each character, just makes me want them all even more. Now i want Childe ! 😬 i love what you are doing here
This made me love Tartaglia even more. I think he's just used to being a certain way. My most hopeful mind wants him to heal. He did promise he would return to his family. I really kinda hope Tartaglia doesn't continue down a path of endless battle and genuinely perform a friendship with the Traveller that isn't apparently based on what they have to offer. I'm so invested in his growth that it'd be really neat to see him shed some of that deep shame as NPD operates off of that (to avoid it at all costs) in order to heal.
I wanna believe there's a reason he believes in the Tsaritsa's gentleness and the Traveller as a beacon of guiding light.
Grrr. Catch me getting invested in a fictional character.
This is awesome dude!! Keep making stuff like this
Thanks, I just wish there was a way to get more traction : / Reddit and discord can only do so much
If you haven’t already done it, I think an analogy on Venti/Barbados would be interesting
There’s so much of his past that we know of but there’s also so much we don’t so a character analysis like that is intriguing
If you want someone easier to analyse, Xiao
No explanation needed
Lmao, if childe is a narc so are half of vision holders.
This might be a bit much to ask, but I'd like to know more about Signora
@@voicekeeper8980 how far are you in the story
@@amaira4651 oh shoot! I’m so sorry if that was a spoiler! I’m caught up
@@voicekeeper8980 you didn't spoil it for me, don't worry. I was checking to see if you knew. Also someone else spoiled it for me when I was part way through the Inazuman archon quest. I have finished it now and was at least not spoiled at how it happened
Ngl I think this video misses the mark by a large margin.
I thought so, too. I mean, if I survived lovecraftian hell at 14, then discovered that I could win against fully armed soldiers and became the youngest Harbinger in history, I'd also be pretty confident. I think he just has ADHD and a fuckton of trauma/PTSD
please go on and dont stop
Can we do one for Kaeya?
I'm been sleeping on Kaeya for a while now, but I'll definitely put him on the list :)
Can u pls do dottore
Can you please... Add subtitles...?
Is Alhaitham a similar case? He always talks as if he's smarter than everyone else
Can you answer why qiqi forgets everything!?🙃
I mean, this one is pretty easy to answer, as Qiqi is a zombie, and it's noted that Qiqi's body is in some degree of decay if she isn't actively using it. This also implies that if she spaces out, her brain basically temporarily 'dies' as a result of this
