I'm a Black nurse. Just finished a travel assignment from hell in Knoxville. Only Black nurse on the unit. I was only there for 3 mos. It was the most challenging work assignment I've ever had. Never will i subject myself to that type of environment. I'm so happy I'm almost ready for retirement. They don't want us with anything. And they HATE when you know your stuff. Just demonic. I feel sorry for all the black women and men that have to work in these toxic, anti black environments.

A (new coworker) BW at my current place of employment came in saying that she only befriends WW in workspaces because BW are this and that, I just looked at her and nodded, she didn't get a vitriolic response out of me like she hoped, because I knew she'd find out on her own, no protest from me, I stayed quiet. 2 months later she was written up and escorted out. Come to find out one of those new WW "friends" cried and lied on her to HR, she got wrote up and suspended but not fired. She just got back to the office last week, so out of nowhere she came up to my desk and said, "I see why you feed these WW with a long handle spoon." I just looked at her, still didn't part my lips. Mind you I don't buddy-buddy with or talk about personal business to any of my coworkers male or female, blk or wht, when I do talk it's about neutral topics or about work related topics. I just do my work and go home I'm social with the family and friends I already have outside of these treacherous workplaces.

This just happened to me about a week ago. A bw that I work with tried to complain to me about my ww manager being racist after she wasn’t accepted by the ww at the job. I said no no to her and let her know that I would not be having that racism conversation with her. She didn’t want to talk to me when she was dancing for their approval so don’t talk to me now.

When I was a younger woman, I was a Security Officer at a university. My supervisor was a WM. One of my coworkers was a WW who had very long hair down her back.
One day, I came to the office to clock in, a normal routine before the officers went to their posts. Although I had medium-length hair, I was wearing extensions, braided into my natural hair. The braids were straight back, since I knew I had to wear a hat that was part of the uniform.
The supervisor claimed that my braided hairstyle was against regulations, claiming they would prevent me from wearing the uniform hat. I put my hat on my head, proving to him that my hairstyle was no problem. Then I reminded him of the WW coworker with the vey long hair, and that I've never heard him put down the length of her hair, or threaten to suspend her, as he had done to me.
He said "So help me, I'm gonna find a way to suspend you!"
I replied: "Good luck with that task. As you know, I'm here everyday, and on time. The professors, office staff, and the dean at the college that's my post, don't have one bad thing to say about me because I'm good at my job.
If you find some trumped up charge(s) and have my suspended or terminated , l have a pretty good lawyer, and I will sue you. And do not think it is an idle threat. I don't make threats, I make promises.

That's how you deal with someone who's openly hostile towards you. You don't get hostile right back at them. That's why so many black women are getting into brawls with other black women. If you're not ghetto, don't act like it. Don't walk around grumbling about white people, and always glaring at them. That's how you get the reputation for being "rude, aggressive" they won't come out and call you racist, but when it's time to cut the fat? Bye, Reinesha. Female black employees I've worked with see all kinds of things that aren't there. They act like they can't stand to be around white people, yet they apply for jobs around them. Most black women having problems in the workplace are having them because of their own attitudes towards white people. They've been told by their mothers that white people are evil, white people are the cause of all their problems, etc, and they carry this chip on their shoulder their whole lives. You hate them and assume they hate you and that shapes your attitude and causes problems ion dealing with them. You're going to have this self-imposed issue until you find a job you prefer: working only around black men. Maybe become a prison guard or something.

Always looking to see if you have something they don't, they feel the need to one up you in everything, because in their mind, they must have SOMETHING that you cannot. This is why I don’t ever engage with them in a friendly manner. When I see BW trying to be friendly with them and gain their approval it annoys me, because I know WW aren’t interested in being equals.
I had a BW coworker that used to overlook a WW coworkers racism comments. Her response to the WW was to start bending over backwards and being super nice in hopes to gain her favor. She started telling in herself in front of the WW in order to gain trust from the mindset “If I tell some of my secrets, I’ll appear to be an ally and this WW will want to tell me some secrets too”.
I told her repeatedly “STOP TALKING AROUND HER!”
Shortly after, the WW played a large role in the BW being fired
You’re are doing God’s work. Thank you for putting this knowledge out there. This topic has ruined the lives of so many BW and it needs to be discussed, because I have noticed just how oblivious a lot of Black people are when it comes to WS.

If they reach a level of management they are not like us, they are not conditioned to not hire their own to prove they are not discriminating when it's BLATANT discrimination they will turn the entire facility into something that looks Cinco de Mayo. I remember a time my sister and I were getting coffee through a McDonald's drive thru we got to the window and it was a white boy taking our money. We looked at each other with pure joy, it was the strangest emotion, we got our coffee got out of the drive thru and fell out laughing, we couldn't stop laughing. If you don't desire being liked your not as easy to control is such a good point. In addition to the informal groups they try to get you to join a ERG (employee resource group) another way to get women and minorities to participate in unpaid labor and fix problems they create. The most common way they try to control you is dangling a promotion in front of you. I've been working professionally for 19 years (I'm voluntarily underemployed because I'm a senior level individual contributor and I make enough money to retire at 55 so not interested in more money and responsibility) so they can't control me like they do other people although like everyone else I have to work.

I have no desire in being liked, they feel challenged when I ask questions to get more details, but they are perfectly fine with me assisting other people in the department or on my team. I have double the caseload than a lot of people on my team and still get more work done than them. I've never been at a job with so many white women in leadership. I have never went for three jobs since December and not gotten one of them. ATP I'm just waiting on the next opportunity to come along, but we are in a tough job market.

I had a white female co-worker try to make me look bad to our administrator. However, I had all the information and facts wish proved I was doing my job. I provided my work to our administrator and the look on her face it was like ber head exploded that she could not expose me. I walked back with her and said thank goodness I had all my information and work completed. She had such upset look on her face 😂😂😂. I was at another job and a white female worker complained to the manager that a group of blackwomen were engaging with each other and not her. She said it was racially motivated. I said maybe its because they all know each other, and her reply was another blackwoman started the job and they engage with her. 😂

I wish you were available 30 years ago. I’m sure it’s worse since then. Corporate companies are evil. They hire you, and they’re ready to fight with you when you prove yourself competent. Then, they start a game to push you out of your job. You think you can go to work every day and get through it every day until you realize you are going crazy. It’s horrible to think you can retire from a company to secure your livelihood. After over thirty years, it still affects me mentally. Thank God I was always creative to style hair. I got my AS degree in Cosmetology. I’m so much happier. The sad thing is I have clients sitting in my chair and venting about their job experiences. I get so sad to hear their stories and how they are on antidepressants. It’s sad.

Women period will often breed that destructive competitiveness that you mentioned but it’s mostly white women whom are always seeking to control their Black female coworkers. I have experienced this several times, bc just like you, I too didn’t show enough interest in their clicks and wouldn’t bow down to their attempts to control me. Jim Crow mindset is very much alive. I have had several WW and WM seek to befriend me, date me, be a housemate or roommate ... only to learn that they were anxiously jealous and intimated of me because I am kind, smart, driven, introverted with extroverted tendencies. You have to be mindful of WP seeking friendship unfortunately. There is a colonial history that says POC are not suppose to make WP feel inferior and if they feel that way towards you, their motives will be deviant. I notice they will ask questions to get access to my personal information, challenge whatever I say, create chaos to try to stress me out, be 'passive' aggressive so they can gaslight and so I can't use 'the race card' because then I will get backlash for being 'sensitive (to abuse -_-)' so they can have power and control and try to make me feel less than. Of course it is not all WP, but because this part of Wt history is not held accountable and addressed by WP it is passed down generationally just like any other cultural pattern.

They created issues, went and whined to their w .m or w. w supervisors and they put me through hell. I cannot understand why some people feel the need to act as if they are superiors. We are all equals.

💯 white women..i hate to say but ive only had 2 or 3 women managers black or white who ive trusted. Ive run into very few who are secure down to earth , respected my work ethic and didnt turn everything into a competition..i also have to be fair my first white woman boss did not like me at first but i did such a good job for her ( high school internship) she wrote me a letter of recommendation

Spot on commentary! The weaponization of tears is so accurate and other non- black women sometimes try to pick up this weapon to use against black women in the workplace. However, they have lower and inconsistent success rates using this weapon compared to white women.

I’ve come to the conclusion that they are just miserable, are there to keep patriarchy and racism going in the workplace and society. Can’t wait to hear you discuss YT identified POC
mirroring YT women’s behavior in the workplace.

I talk about this some in my videos but I am not a psychotherapist or psychologist so I don’t talk about it very much. I recommend that you check out the channel of Kimani Norrington Sands, Lifting as we Climb. She talks at length about the impact of hostile jobs on the psyche of black women - follow her. We did a joint master course together where we talked about the importance of black women saving themselves from hostile toxic work environments and taught them strategies for not only doing that but for exiting these environments with cash in hand 💰You can grab access to the replay of the course on my website and I highly recommend that you follow Kimani!

Great video. I’m terrified of returning to work because it’s the same as I left it 30 years ago. Unfortunately, I worked mostly with WM, so my experience is they are the worst. BUT…I’d still rather a WM than a WW. If you did a ranking poll on whom we’d rather work with, I’d be interested in seeing those results and the resultant discussion.
I echo the conclusion that we cannot fix this. We can only figure out how to navigate it successfully, and know that it comes with a huge cost to our spirit and soul.
    Thanks for the amazing content.

It’ll likely be WM for majority. Because they are men, they behave in an aggressive way that’s typical of all men. Also, they trump WW in their own hierarchy as they are THE gatekeepers. So they don’t feel they lose anything by a BW working with them. WW are competing with BW because both are women. They hold their whiteness over you as their only shield of superiority.

1:00:01 WM negotiate, but even if BW negotiate doesn’t mean they will be taken seriously. They want to give WM and WW money and opportunities. For BW that’s not the case, we are barely given the opportunity if they don’t have a Black quota to meet.

I was seen as a threat and I would not schuck and jive. I am proud that I maintained respect for myself and always continued ntegrity in my work quality. This has not been easy as we went from a work force that multiple had black men and women in leadership positions to now maybe 1-3 percent in our organization. So glad that your video was suggested to me.

WOW- thank you so much for this. I held ono every word. My initial reaction is: "what are we -black women- supposed to do now?" We are still in the position to just take it. sadly. I was hoping for strategies to combat the crybabies, the gossipers, the fake, pretentiousness, that will continue to exist, since they do it to each other. I very MUCH look forward to the next videos about interactions with island immigrants and the mantra of "black women are not your enemy". Also since very few women of color reach federal govt. senior level executive positions, what can you provide as a playbook or guide to avoid landmines for black women. Both scrutinizing and investigating the: "TOP 10 Pitfalls to navigate around and/or Stay strong in leadership by listening and move strategically, without losing respect"......................I am interested!

When going into these workspaces, it's so unfortunate but BW have to be as strategic as possible while working with White folk. That's why during the interview, you have to ask who would this role report to? And after that question, I ask how long have they been with the company and describe the personality type? My prayer used to be if I have to report to a particular ethnicity, let it be a White male but NOW that has changed tremendously. No luck, with reporting to a WM, WW or BW. So, just praying that it's someone who's post Civil Rights Era, who is focused on retiring and allowing me to do my job without all the hang ups! Yep, and this election will have a tremendous impact on our workspaces!

    My comment got deleted 🧐
Everything you spoke on, I experienced and actually grew because of it. The problem is that a lot of us are waiting for THEM to end W/Supremacy but the system is embedded all the way down to its social media platforms and comments we are allowed to post. I spoke on my experience as well, dealing with supremacy in the corporate world. We keep asking for equality/equality to morals beneath our own instead of demanding what we’re owed. I constantly worked with black women who were afraid to make THEM uncomfortable. We have to stop coddling their race-is-um* and start putting ourselves first. Only we can end W/Supremacy. It’s just a mater of when.

    • @theantihr
      @theantihr  3 месяца назад +5

Black people cannot end white supremacy. Period point blank we do not control the system and we can’t end it. The only people who can change the system and NY supremacy is white people. If Black people could’ve changed it it would be changed already.
