The Acura TL and TSX were two loved sporty sedans that were combined into one car back in 2015. The #AcuraTLX was designed to blend the strengths of both cars but unfortunately didn’t really do it, harmoniously. For 2021, the all-new #TLX sees one of the most comprehensive redesigns in Acura’s history and while a #TLXTypeS is on the way next year, this #TLXAspec offers a lot of bang for your buck and should give luxury sedan buyers a genuinely good alternative to European offerings. Авто/Мото
The wait is over! You guys have been requesting a full review on the new Acura TLX all summer long and here it is! It gets us excited for the upcoming Type S, as the base engine is more luxury sedan versus sport sedan.
You are definitely my favorite car reviewer. Thanks!!
This car is gorgeous! Definitely an example of form over function though.
Thanks for another great review Sofyan! Your review quality never disappoints!
Car looks great! But would you get the Audi A4 premium plus with B/O sound system or 2021 Acura TLX A-Spec?
Wouldnt it be an American sedan since Honda makes and sells it only in North America???
I’m so glad that they finally changed the interior.
So now you're going to go buy one right?
Nick R maybe in the future:))
it need an update, but I feel they just put the RDX interior in it, and while that works for a SUV as seen in the new MDX, it fails miserably here in a sedan.
I see you like Call of Duty Ghosts!
The interior looks like a mess
Everytime u touch the pad, it sounds like Santa clause is outside.
LoL! It is pretty annoying. Thankfully you can turn it down or off in the settings.
Claus, you're welcome
THIS IS #MAGA COUNTRY thanks English professor!
I thought it was Santa’s Claws 🤣🤣
@@Natethegreat200c You're most welcome, public school student.
This is no longer an Accord with slightly better trim. And that's a good thing.
Unfortunately, some people argue its actually worse than a fully loaded accord 😂
Ed Jones my accord touring has more features and is 15k less!
Manual turbo in the Accord = Acura failed.
Heather Smith Bullshit, your accord has way less things than this TLX
Still an Accord son
I love this redesign. Acura has given it the look of a rear wheel drive car by increasing the dash to axle ratio. I also applaud Acura for going with a double wishbone suspension over struts in the front. I wish they provided Sofyan w/ a better color. The metallic red or the new metallic violet color are gorgeous, especially in combination with some of the more exciting interior colors such as the black/red or black/tan color combinations.
good looking redesign and interior....... but 21 city and 29 hwy for a 6.5sec 0-60?? and dont even get the V6 growl? YIKES
6.2 motor trends numbers are false
Alex Auto got to 60 in 5.8. About the same as the v6 oddly enough.
Right, turbo engines are so boring. Sounds like garbage, 10 speed automatic meant for fuel economy. What the fuck Acura.
Car and Driver got 5.9 seconds
TheBreakfastLover I guess I really need to test drive it myself. It’s not fair of me to just go off of a review, even a very well made one.
So happy they didn't go full digital for displays. Those will look like crap adown the road as better and better panel technology comes out. Nothing beats a classic tach and speedo.
Agree! 100%
Agreed, I prefer a mixture of both.
Plus tastes for design of digital user interfaces will change, making the car feel even more dated.
Agreed
Also, Sofyan, you've been killing it with the production quality, you've come a long way and you should be proud of all you accomplished!
I just bought a 22 model aspec in blue. Absolutely love the car. There is a bit of a learning curve with the infotainment. Living in the mountains, it is effortless to drive around the twisties. It takes a little getting used to how wide it is. As for gas mileage, I am getting 30 mpg overall, and I drive spirited at times, but find myself just cruising a lot as well. Overall a fantastic drive.
30 mpg? I'm getting 12.8 😂
@@cultofmodernism8477 I'm getting 27.8mpg
Gorgeous car! My neighbor just got one, and in person it looks freaking amazing! Wider, longer sleeker. Just gorgeous!! Absolutely in love.
Interior main console looks like NSX's, nice. Can't wait for the Type S.
That type s is nice man
That looks SHARP. Long live the sedan!
Acura is so stupid in terms of packages for this. You can either get the A-spec package or the Advance package. Why can’t we have both like every other car manufacturer???
@andykillsu, Because in the world of profit margins, greed is good~ =(
For some reason, all 3 of the Japanese luxury makes do this. Not sure if it is due to manufacturing constraints or just pure arrogance.
I agree aspec should have had power folding mirrors and surround view cam no need for a advance model really.
I have the 2018 V6 ASpec Elite. Has all the Advanced features with Aspec package! I'm pissed that, I can't have that version anymore. Also, pissed I have to go to a 4cyl to get ASpec package. I don't care if new models feel faster with their turbo 4. Unless it had an INCREDIBLE difference & not similar difference. The engine in the Type S should have been their regular turbo 6 for V6 Tech/Aspec/Advanced . Type S should have been twin turbo & 400+ hp. Could have just detuned the NSX twin turbo 6!! Acura/Honda messed this one up...again!!
If you think this is bad, just wait until the Type S comes out. I was watching another reviewer who focuses on auto industry news. He had the options list on the TLX which included the options list for the Type S. A LOT of features were not represented on the options list for the Type S. I hope the list was preliminary and Acura will change it. The Type S BETTER have every feature available. The G70, which has more power than the S Type, and the refreshed G70 will have even more power than it does now, tops out at around 54k with every single option available. Acura needs to do better with the packaging.
Acura is slowly but surely getting back to their roots in terms of that perfect mix of luxury and performance. This new TLX is definitely a step in the right direction. Welcome back Acura, we've been waiting for you🏎
Many analysts believe that the new TLX is one of the BEST cars ever designed!
The new TLX has been awarded best luxury car for 2021 by motorweek. And one of the best new cars of 2021 by autotrader
Awesome review! I can't wait to get my hands on one!
What time did the MDX embargo lift on the 14th?
cant wait
Kirk Kreifels you’re here i see😅
Oh hi there! Your channel has come up a few times in these comments.
FINALLY!!!! It took you long enough, I’ve been waiting for YOU to review this car Sof!
That old dual stack screen was always the deal breaker for me when I looked at these cars.
Yeah, the MDX was marked off our list because of the dual screens and spare tire location.
I always rate cars on how well they perform on the road and the exterior look.
The dual stack only made sense with the Lanewatch system in Honda. They should have done it with Acura too Lanewatch is awesome
Soyfan's word of the day, bespoke.
The word "bespoke" for some reason brings to mind the Savagegeese & his ethhnically ambiguously friend named Jack (possibly where I first heard it used by an auto youtuber). 🤣
@@KJ-iq7fm I remember Savagegeese used it a lot when he did the video on the Aston Martin.
Drinking game: Take a shot every time Sofyan says bespoke.
Or saying “LEDs” 400 times in a video 😂
It's British.
I've been waiting on Sofyan to get his hands on this one! Redline Reviews gonna tell it like it is!
Same.
and he said its a weak woman car.... so we wait for him to drive a Type-S and tell us IF it's any good..... this obviously is NOT the answer..........
So he can hate on it? 🙄🤷🏼♂️
Oh make no mistake, I've had my critiques of Sofyan, especially when reviewing "certain" American cars. He's gotten better about being a bit more critical of the shortcomings of more vehicles than he used to. The infotainment is a bit confounding, especially considering nearly every competitor offers a touchscreen for good reason. But I also think he was a bit unfair to the 2.0T. They're ALL sleepy off of the line until boost hits.
Tell it like a Hondaboyfan
I definitely like that they went the 'tweener route because it's kind of the best of both worlds. You get the presence and slightly more space of midsize with the dynamics of a compact.
I went and looked at one and test drove it and its really an amazing car and even more beautiful in person and is pretty quick as well acura got this one right the only thing I don't care for is the rims
Agreed, something along NSX wheels would fit this perfectly
@@ericrocha4693 that would be nice
Given that the speaker system is an aspect of the TLX that destroys its competition, Acura should really advertise their ELS system. Many reviewers praised that system as better than some popular outsource brands like Bose or Mark Levinson or Harmon Kardon
Yes. Savage geese covered this topic on his rdx review. So many people omit Acura’s audio quality
@@R1val909 I know. I remember seeing a comment on another TLX review saying "I'd take a Lexus over an Acura any day now, mostly for the Mark Levinsons on the Lexus" Obviously the commenter only cares about the brand over actual sound quality.
[Blank] most reviewers have bad opinions. People like that are the reason big ass SUV’s are so popular over normal more practical cars. Or even mid tier sports cars.
Bose is a low bar to beat. Software tricks can’t overcome shoddy engineering.
@@billbyrd2403 How can you call ELS shoddy engineering when so many reviewers praised that system as one of the best in class?
This is not a boy racer car. This is a man's car. Spacious, stylish interior (including the back), adequate power, and stunning exterior. It is not for drag races or track days. It's not an M4; it's an A6, regardless of how they're marketing it. Slow off the line. The turbo spool up is ... unhurried, lackadaisical, and smooth in normal mode. It doesn't pin your lady friend to the seat; it slowly hugs her with soft leather. The sound system is deeply impressive. The engine does its job, carving traffic with little effort. It'll throw you around a little bit sport mode, but it never feels punchy like the IS300 or surging like the A4. It shines in comfort mode, gliding over rough pavement like an Outback. The AWD is pretty slick too, coming to bear with invisible ease like an Audi or Subaru system. To my complete surprise, the overly stylized center stack is actually ergonomically functional, even though it will take me forever to get used the transmission buttons. The HUD is huge, compared to the Mazda6, and very uncluttered. The gauge cluster graphics are bit dense, but decipherable. The touch pad is intuitive and easy to master while driving, unlike the hideous Lexus interface. As for the comparisons I'm seeing to the Accord, they are not comparable vehicles, regardless of 0-60 times.
Couldn’t of said it any better... This is a gorgeous car, a step above the 2015 TLX I currently own!! An accord can never compare to this it’s for a wider market, this car is SOLID, it’s not pretending to be a Lexus it’s an Acura, it’s a sport inspired executive car. IF YOU WANT PERFORMANCE GET THE TYPE S OR IF YOU NEED MORE LOOK ELSEWHERE! In this economy you have to play safe, sooner or later we will be seeing advancements with NSX based technology I bet.
@@lexanon5315 yeah love those that always say it's a "fancy Accord". Well hell, that's still a compliment being the Accord is not a bad car. There is the stigma with the Accord and TSX and TLX because the Accord has been such a popular car. We could also imagine that some of these individuals couldn't swing an Acura due to the cost difference. There is a difference in the quality, if you've had both Hondas and Acuras you know.
@@drivecfl most definitely, I’ve owned both and they’re two different cars!
@@lexanon5315 Yeah I wonder if there is the same talk about a high-end Toyota and Lexus comparison. That Lexus is just a fancy Avalon..lol
I don't really get why so many people are excited for the Type S. It will have just 350 hp. For refrence the BMW M340i has 382 hp and that is a smaller car and it also has a nicer interior.
V6, quad exhaust?
iishyxvietxboyii1 while turbo v6 and quad exhaust are nice, it will probably be really quiet, Acura should’ve done more in order to properly compete with the German sedans
True 3 series is better
M340 will also be 60k+, the main sell for Type S is similar performance, better reliability and value in terms of price.
And when similarly equipped, the Bimmer is more than $10k more expensive.
And as someone else mentioned, the Type S has quad exhausts. It might seem petty but it's a hallmark of a high-performance sedan like the M3. Even a lesser C43 and S4 has them.
I bet sofyan has the cleanest house ever

Acura is definitely stepping the game up with the new TLX. Great luxury sedan that’s quick and amazing body lines! 🤝🤝🏁 Can’t wait time see the Type S!
Dont get too excited, it only has half of the features you would think a 50k sedan should have. Im waiting for maybe the 2025 Type-S hopefully they'll make something that will keep up with AMG features.
I remember back in January, I caught Acura testing the TLX in downtown Houston. Really cool to see it
The review I was waiting for :') great job man
Waiting on the typeS to drop!
Where have you been, I've been anxious to see ur review on this 😬😬😬😬
Acura sent it to us a bit later than others. Hope it was worth the wait!
I’ve been waiting for you to do a review on this car! Thank you and as always you make the best reviews!
By far the best thorough honest car review I’ve ever watched.
The weight of this car makes it beyond slow. Type S will be heavier and I find it hard to believe that the Type S will be a 4 or 4.5-second car.
I think if it’s AWD, 4 or 4.5 second 0-60 will be very possible
Randy Gonzalez it going to weight about 4300 LBs. I just find it hard to believe that the base is a 6.5 second car and Type S will be 4 4.5. We will see
Even the lighter, more powerful and similarly sized Kia Stinger can't do sub 4.5-sec., the Type S most likely will be as quick a Civic Type R at about 5-sec.
Sofyan saying the TLX A spec does 0-60 in the high 5s.....and that’s with an 4-cylinder turbo
I’m thinking with V6 twin turbo and stickier tires on Type S, 4.5 is possible. I don’t know if I’m right but for Acura’s sake, I hope I am.
solahoi Kia Stinger does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. I think it’s possible the TLX type S will be able to muster 4.5. U do got a good point tho with it being lighter but we still don’t know what final power numbers will be for Type S. Excited to find out tho!
As an owner of two Acuras, I'd like to see a new TSX-S version - a smaller. more personal sized 2+2 to compete with 3-series & A4.
I saw a car like this in Tucson and I loved it. It may be on my list to consider when I buy something fun in a while. When you're seated in the car it seems to feel smaller than it is.
Overall great review, I literally enjoyed with popcorn as new movie release . Only missing was car exhaust note and sofyan orgasmic giggle, you are legend brother 🙏🙏
Great review! I’m wondering why acura never used the ZF 8-Speed. That transmission is possibly the industry standard and everyone seems to like it
ZF 8 Speed is only for Rear drive cars
@@f181234 exactly
f181234 that’s a shame :/ it’s quick, predicts your needs well, but I’m sure Honda’s 10 speed will pair well in the rest of their products
f181234 The highly regarded 8HP ZF 8-speed comes in AWD and RWD but only for longitudinally mounted motors. Honda is mostly transverse mounted, that’s why they have to use the inferior ZF 9-speed.
Honda should made Acura’s rwd and awd , not give us cheap fwd, save it only Honda’s
CL/TL type s was the best when i was in high school.

Brooo! I’m been waiting for your video on the new TLX! I haven’t watched yet lol but I’m about to! Be safe and take care!
Waited for your review first. Love your reviews.
Great video as always, however I think the size is perfect. I always felt like it should be more on par with the size of accord to be able to compete more with a 4 series or 5 series. It’s just the perfect size, just wish it had a little more rear space and trunk space. The ILX should be more on par with the civic and compete with the 3 series etc...
I'm in love with Honda and Acura I'm liking the direction their going. I'm definitely working harder to jump out of my Civic sport touring hatch for a TLX A-Spec.
Hey looks like we’re in the same boat, though I really love my sport touring hatch, it’s hard to think of a reason to get rid of it. It’s damn near perfect.
Hondaforlife.?
you should wait for the type S
I had the original TSX back when it came out in 2004 and it was a great looking, reliable car. I feel that Acura lost its way ever since but this new design definitely works for me. The body proportions are handsome, almost RWD looking ala Volvo/Audi. I test drove this power train on the RDX and loved it.
Surprisingly, I've warmed up to the Acura TLX after watching this video. It seemingly has a slightly higher roof than most modern Sedans. Plus, I find the TLX's fascia more eye-pleasing.
Good review but you’re being way too kind, in my opinion.
Bigger and heavier with less usable space in the interior and trunk and it’s more expensive. No manual, no dual clutch, no panoramic sunroof and engine sounds coming through the speakers. Then when you spend more money on sportier tires, it’s probably uncomfortable???
This all sounds horrible to me. I really don’t get the direction of Acura, but it’s obvious they’re not trying to appeal to many of the old school Acura and Honda folks. There doesn’t seem to be much left of the old company.
same price as last year just 900 difference i work at honda/acura lol its a very nice car really it is
It’s stunner of a car. In person it looks sick. My neighbor just got one. WOW
Same price.. just 900 more 🤣🤣🤣

Good looking car.. looking forward to seeing the Type S, thinking about buying one. I'll admit, I'm a honda fanboy and stick with the family brands.
Exact same position as you dude. I would love the Type S but it's a bit above my budget 😅. The A-Spec is sexy as hell as well
The review I’ve been waiting on!!
Thanks!!! Can't wait for the Type S review. The TLX is on my List. The Infotainment system has me wary.
your videos seem well rehearsed and thought through, i like your reviews although not everyone purchases these vehicle just for performance
Yessss it’s about time

Finally a good review on this beautiful car. I've been waiting for this and I'm loving this acura.
the only real negative reviews were from TheStraightPipes and Consumer Reports (neither of which are considered "driver-focused" reviewers). Literally every other review has been overall positive.
Awesome review! I think they did a great job with this car, still have stuff to improve on.

If Acura added a tuning knob you’d be mixing up the volume and tuning 24/7
I was a little disappointed with the 0-60 time being that the Accord has a sub 6 secs time. In addition, the Accord has a larger interior volume, which appeals to me at 6'3". I can't wait to see the Type-S twin turbo V6 compete with the Kia Stinger GT V6! That'll be interesting!! Overall it's a sweet looking ride with the front end, interior, and the width! However, it kind of gives me Regal GS in the rear.👍🏾👍🏾
That white pearl color exterior is beautiful
My 1994 Acura Integra (manual) was the best car I ever owned and it was so fun to drive. I haven't seen another Acura that I've really liked until now.
I’m waiting for the review on the 2021 Lexus IS 350 Fsport. This Acura looks great tho
I get Lexus is all about reliability for a luxury vehicle, but they really gotta start updating their center console and tech.
Alphonsus Ho the 2021 lexus IS 350 is more of a refresh so there’s not much of change
IS300 4 cyl, 8 gears, rear wheel drive, still eats this thing alive, even with older tech.
Lexus is nice, reliable, and all but their cars have looked the same for like 10 years
@@perkhere2252 looks are of course subjective, but refreshed IS looks great, modern and superior than this. The insides are indeed old, hence if you compare the materials, ride, sound proofing is better in is (this year they also finally added modern safety). The tech is indeed lagging behind. I also believe the acceleration should be equal around 6.5.
The type S should blow away ridiculous old f-sport v6 engine and 6g transmission, but for the price of type-s there are definitely better options (from Germany)
Can’t wait for the Type S!! I’m so getting it.
The intro music was EPIC! Kudos!!
Thank you for this thorough review!
The back sort of looks like the supra but I like the design in the front engine ok but could of been better the V6 is a killer

I am deciding between these two cars in addition to the 2021 Arteon which seems to have more features and options for the money. I am also waiting for the Type S.
Best looking sports sedan today! Clean lines, RWD-like proportions, and a normal-sized grille! Cannot wait for the Type S!!!

When the intro of the car in this video is more exciting than the one made by Acura 🙃
Bought a white TLX A-spec on Labor day. Absolutely loving the drive. Finding reasons to drive the car.
Im glad they changed the door chime finally
The stock wheels could be made nicer and more aggressive for the A-Spec. It’s basically the same for all trims (except the base) just different finish... That’s my only negative about the design...
Type S is awesome. It’s hard to just look at the cars while the reviewers pick it apart for their personal tastes. I guess the A-Spec is the best alternative to spending thousands more.
You guys killed it with the intro🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah that intro was mad!!!
As an Acura owner, I want the fob to stay the same. How are you to say it need to be changed. I love it.
That weight is very disappointing and rear seat headroom looks pretty tight too. The Type S better be fast to make up for the shortcomings.
For me, considering this is right around 5-series size I don’t see too much of an issue with the weight figure.
for the money the 2.0 accord touring is faster cheaper much more spacious and in most areas just as luxurious
Yeah, Sofyan said the Acura used to be a slightly more luxurious Accord. To me that was a god thing!
This car looks great, but it’s way too heavy and cramped to spend 15 grand more than an Accord.
David Kaplan you’re comparing a family sedan to a sport luxury sedan...
This TLX is way more luxurious than the most luxurious Accord. The accord while a nice car, is not in the same class as this car in terms of luxury. Now performance in the other hand, the Accord straight up blows the doors off this.
Maticalise Music Master I wouldn’t say blow the doors off it’s still FWD your gonna have the tires spinning at hard launches
f181234 I might’ve exaggerated a lil bit. I guess I wanted this TLX to be the car to beat performance wise for the segment. I guess with how conservative Acura is that will never happen
Great review. I love the red interior.
If you sped up the pan speed to the music this could have been an epic Acura commercial lol

Cyrus Twolfwood #noreplacementfordisplacement
@@naveenthemachine I've definitely driven decent 4 cyl turbos but the tlx seems less eager to react to the peak. Cyrus Twolfwood somehow I prefer reviving the crap out of a NA V6 so that I can hear it scream and roar at high rpms. When you hear a NA V6 or V8 roar at or near the redline you have to admit its intoxicating 😍

I’ve been waiting for you to review this car! Beautiful car and I love the interior but just seems to lack anything in the wow department. But like you said, for moms or dads that no longer carry kids and want something that’s comfy with a sporting edge, it may be perfect. But how many will choose over the competition, probably not many. Can’t wait to see the type S but I’m thinking it’s going to be just beyond my comfortable financial reach. Nice to see Acura finally making some nicer stuff though.
Love that front end. Acura nailed it on this one.
I want this in Japan. However, HONDA probably will not sell this there.😭
Sorry Acura is American, not Japanese
Some of us want JDM Honda here and we couldn't.
@Fry 18 the parent company is Honda, but Acura is American. Have you been to Japan? I give a $1,000 if you spot an Acura in Japan. You will find Infiniti and Lexus in Japan but no Acura. Great review! I would like to see the 2021 IS 350 F sport next!
Overall, I think Acura could have done more with this redesign. I'm assuming the increase in length was needed to accommodate the type s engine. I wish Acura would have kept the v6 and use the tune from the rlx at 310hp. That would be a badass base engine. That same engine with a turbo could have 400hp or better. The v6 is kind of what made the TLX stand out from most of the competition and the sound was intoxicating. If this car weighs 4000lbs I'm guessing the type s will be around 4200lbs🤔. If I were shopping in the segment I would take the g70 over this.
I'd consider the G70 V6 twin-turbo if I was looking at the Type S. But if I was looking at the 2.0T models I would definitely take the TLX. The Genesis G70 2.0T is slower than a Honda Odyssey, let alone a TLX.
The type s this Spring will be V6 twin turbo.
@@smiley4284 yes I an aware. A 3.0 liter v6. I still think the j35 motor with a turbo would be badass.
