- Velkhana is a traditional dragon with the slim, upright body structure of Elder Dragons like Kushala Daora. Its scales and shell are a unique crystalline blue. Its head has a tiara-like crown of small horns. It summons ice to cover its wings, limbs, and tail. Its thin, lance-like tail is highly flexible and can jab at enemies.

You evade the first 2 tail stabs to get hit by the 3rd when it jumps and flies.
THE STABBING NEVER STOPS.
You cut off the tail and get stabbed by a new one she fashions out of an icicle.

the best songs in the series are the ones that really dont sound like they belong, like safi and xeno
I love how it perfectly captures the feeling of evil and malevolence in Velkhana, as it literally freezes creatures for no reason.

@@hmmman2257 I dont think it does it on purpose, velkhana is completely friendly to you unless you attack her first.. i think the air surrounding her is so cold it freezes all creatures near her

velkhana and their magical ability to make themself and air phase through ice
Is it that bad for most people? I’ve only used Insect Glaive against her and thought she was fun.
@@JGuy97 Insect Glaive is a hard counter to Velkhana's breath and supernova, so you really only have to worry about their physical attacks.

My first fight with Velkhana was pretty smooth but when she got her ice armour I was being blasted by ice attack after ice attack
Every returning monster: Get it theme change or get new subspecies/variant
Velkhana: Keep her theme twice and didn't change her appearance
Her theme is just that good 😅
They got rid of the vocals theme from base Rise, and she's already a fifth gen monster, so she doesn't need to get her theme changed

love the different parts of the world and musical inspirations for the themes of each elder dragon with the same skeleton as velkhana
• toaster gets a mix of medieval european influences and feels almost like a roman gladiator too, in rise he gets more middle eastern which works surprisingly well
• kushala has hints of romantic era classical Russian music and x files type alien mystery
• velkhana's kind of just West European classical music (feels more French than from other parts of europe)
• Vaal is big boy gothic European man

I tried so hard to cut that tail because that tail stab got me annoyed and killed so many times....
Well I felt stupid after it started Tail Stabing the crap out off me after that got cut.

velkhana was the monster that fucked up my patience the most so far, but I have to say... I really like the monster's design and I also loved its soundtrack, although it has its negative points, it relieved me in certain things.

nah its hitboxes are fine, tigrex has more questionable hitboxes, also if you mean the tail stabs then i mean of course their boxes are slightly expanded, otherwise they would rarely hit anyone
As soon as i heard broken hitboxes i immediately thought of plesioth-
this monster and hunt was def in my top 10. it gives you little breathing room.
She's back in Sunbreak. Its theme has not changed at all, but did it really need to? I personally don't think so.

I love how every song in MonHun builds either tension or oppression.
In this case, though, this song really doesn't fit the "traditional" Monster Hunter song. Instead it's this regal, almost-march that sounds way too grandiose. Almost like Velkhana knows it's better than you, and doesn't need to regard you, or anything else for that matter, with anything other than sheer pretention.

Funny story, actually: I'm already feeling defeated from my first run-in with a Tigrex, so I move on to something significantly easier to gradually build up the skill level: A Kulu-Ya-Ku to start. I'm hunting it, right? I'm in the middle of thrashing it when suddenly the music changes to an unfamiliar theme. I kid you not, a whole ass VELKHANA shows up and stabs me, and I get fainted. On a Kulu-Ya-Ku hunt. Embarrassing.

@@redstinger0966 Not normally, but during a certain part of Iceborne's story it is. I've had it happen against a coral pukei before when I went back to grind parts for a weapon upgrade.

Someone just now in Sunbreak skimmed through the turf war animations for Kushala, Malzeno, and Rajang, and they found the enemy number Em124 as the culprit.
For anyone that doesn't know, that is Velkhana's ID number

Could it be Nergi? Since Nergi has turf wars with those monsters, and seeing my edgelord vs another edgelord will be awesome. Or is 100% confirmed velkhana?
@@XivinevG it's one hundred percent Velkhana because the ID is confirmed to be Iceborne only. Nergi is Base World. What we don't know is if it's a Variant or base Velkhana. A ton of people are saying it's a Variant since Elders typically get Variants.

I have quite the long story with MH. I first started with gen, then moved to 3U(really loved this one), after clearing 3U i moved to p3rd; when i was done with p3rd i moved to GU, and then to 4U. After clearing all of those i finally got a decent graphics card and played both WorldBorne and rise(not sunbreak, i'll play that one on the switch). The point is that, out of all those games, only 4 monsters have made me say: "fuck this i'll try tomorrow." Those monsters are 3U's BrachyDIOs and Lagiacrus, Yian Garuga, and guess who? Velkhana. So at least for me, having one of the monsters that made me sweat is nice and got me all pumped to fight against an old rival.
Sumarized, welcome back old friend.
I like vel a lot but when I speedrunned IB before SB TU1 I raged to vel so much
I don't remember the Velkhana theme slapping so hard.
You will never understand the pain of ice of velkhana when I first fought her with her ice tracks and stabbing tails and the climate delaying some of my energy 😩
