- I took the ladies and my babies to supper at Skip's Beach Resort here in Daanbantayan. I was glad to get a real, DELICIOUS cheeseburger but the Filipinas were more interested in pork-fried rice!

It’s great to see your family out at a restaurant. But there were no other people around to see that most of the family have table manners. Kids getting up on table, everyone had elbows on table, eating with their mouths open, respecting your prayers, being very loud. I know they are primitive but you are not. Teach your kids early.

I hear those "scooters" going by in the background and it raises the hackles on my neck (sorry to say). That was the one thing I couldn't stand about the Philippines. Noise, noise noise! All the time. Barking dogs; scooters and people driving seemingly with no understanding of traffic laws. ( Some guy driving on the wrong side of the damn road almost hit me walking on the curb; needless to say there were no sidewalks for hapless pedestrians.)
Sorry to complain so much.
I'm inclined to believe the Philippines are in reality a nation-state "fiefdom" controlled by a few elite families (like the Marcos and the Aquinos) for their own aggrandizement. The pretext of being a modern democracy is just that, a pretext.
Maybe I'm completely off-base. But I won't be going back to find out more.
Sorry to complain, Mark, on your channel. But I just needed to get that off my chest.
Having said that, on the other hand the prices were great! I was paying not half of what I'd pay in the States but more like a mere 20 or even 10% of costs in the States. Big meals for two dollars; a month hotel room for under $500. Couldn't beat the low prices!

When I was in metro manila caloocan area, So hard to find a good hamburger. Those hamburgers tasted bad to me. I'm used to Texas beef. Maybe it's all the additives and ammonia they add here in Texas. 😮
