you can rest assured they went 100% as well. Both Ronnie Baker and Marcel Jacobs broke their PB in this race. Jacobs even broke the European continental record. This is the FASTEST semi in Olympic History.

This is an amazing feat. But remember this was the semi finals the other 2 black guys were just trying to qualify for the finals but he did force them to exert 90-95% of their full speed to catch up. His finals time was 9.98 whch isnt terrible seeing how he never came close to breaking 9.9 due to his very weak finishing ability and he was gassed from the semi final run. Although there r 40-50 runners who consistently faster than him (under 9.9), his fastest time 9.83 has only been beat by 15 guys.
Back in the days in Olympics you won’t see an Asian in finals . But nowadays in Olympic finals Chinese , Japanese & Koreans reaching as like black Americans , Canadians , Caribbean islanders , British , French , German , Portuguese or African origins go through 😅
