Canadian sprint star Andre de Grasse won the silver medal in the 200 m and bronze medals in both the 100 m and 4×100 m relay at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. De Grasse won the bronze medal in the final in 9.91 seconds, a new personal best, behind Usain Bolt and USA's Justin Gatlin. He became the first male athlete to win a medal for Canada at the 2016 Summer Olympics. De Grasse finished behind Usain Bolt again, in 20.02 seconds to become the first Canadian to win a medal in the 200m since Percy Williams at the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam.

With Bolt finally retired Andre got his GOLD in the 200m, well deserved.
And he wasn’t even supposed to get gold based on expectations 😂. He always get third place! The USA was supposed to sweep this event with gold silver and bronze. Andre had a chance at get bronze but usa men fail their expectations for all the sprints except the 400m hurdles lol

De Grasse single handedly won Canada the bronze medal in that 4x100 relay. The gap he had to close to get that was insane
And single-handedly won the bronze (upgraded to silver after UK stripped of it) in 2021 (Tokyo 2020) ... another insane gap upon receiving the baton.

I feel like USAIN never reached full speed his whole career. He was running at 90 to 95 percent capacity tops
I think he did run at his 100% in that 9.69 race until the last 15-20 meters when he slowed down. If he ran at 100% for the whole length, he would have scored under 9.5
Yup thought the same. Noticed he always slow down before the finishing line like he wait for his opponents.
He definitely tried his best in 2016 vs Gatlin but he wasn't in his prime back then so he had to.
