    When Bolt was running, it doesn't matter which country you live in. You automatically cheered for him not because you picked a side or whatever, but its because he made you feel for the sport that he was in.

      Yea i remember in my teens watching all these races..I always remembered the White French dude always coming in 4th / 3rd or 2nd place and very far behind Bolt. If Bolt wasnt there he would have a few more wins

      You mean Christophe Lemaitre? I think he has achieved amazing despite being in the Bolt era. To win the 200m bronze in Rio 2016 and a 4x100 bronze in London (I believe) competing against athletes in the golden era of sprinting!

      The way your phrased it is brilliant. Definitely is diabolical. If I'm a competitor I would be furious and depressed at the same time. When a person is so dominated that they can beat your jogging that plays with you psyche .

    I've heard many athletes say this, no matter how slow you ran throughout the season, once you contested with him, you're going to get a personal best time. He pushed everyone to do their best.

      If any one of those runners were a foot taller than the rest, they too would have been the GOAT, unimpressed due to this and it cannot be changed. Its like a runner with one leg running against one with 2, disadvantage on one side, no matter what. Do they put him a bit behind, as with the lanes? No, they don't. It is not a legacy, it is sheer luck and height.

      @@Omar-kl3xp Actually Bolt was at his absolute best from 2008 till 2012/2013. We must not forget that in 2013 he ran a 9.77s into a headwind, cool night and in the rain. That's easily a 9.6s high/9.7s low with no rain, warmer time and just a bit of a tailwind.

    One of my favorite things is seeing even the silver winners smiling and giving a high five to Bolt bc they recognize and respect his abilities and are just happy to be there to compete. Olympics really bring the world together in that way.

      I think so too. I think he could have broken his own records in 100m, 200m and 4x100m. Makin it impossible for anybody breaking these records in our lifetime. I also think he could have participated in two more olympics, but as he said he had achieved what he set out to achieve and there was no more motivation. We will always miss him. I always watch Usain Bolt and Shelly- ann Fraser Pryce races, specially when I am down. These races lift up my Spirit.

    My son and I watched all Bolt’s Olympic performances and celebrated with chest bumps and high fives every time he won! Those were the days of wine and roses! And the Olympics in Beijing were possibly the best of all with these performances in the Birds Nest Stadium!

      True.. Bolt's 100m record is untouchable (for now). But I feel his 200m olympic record will be broken some time in the forseeable future. He shouldn't have eased up in the 2012 final, he would've gone under 19:30 😅

Kishane maybe since he did so well in his first international race... but even then I'd still be extremely surprised.

    I was lead to this video because my father continuously watches Usain Bolt highlights & former races. I thought to myself, how does he watch so many of these. This morning I decided to watch one myself.

    A beautiful documentary, I remember watching the 2012 Olympics as a kid, and seeing Usain and Mo dominate made me see what I could do with hard work and dedication. This was great, and I imagine many more generations will watch this and aspire towards the same success I dreamed of in 2012.

      Yup he got to keep the baton. When it became apparent to the crowd that the officials were going to take back the baton (and...to be fair, it was protocol), boos rained down on them from the stadium.
