As a Colombian, I'm super proud of this guy. Tough as nails, fought his way through poverty and violence, like many of us do. Getting to where he got, starting from where he started, is truly a feat of the human spirit. Eres un grande!
What a beautiful journey. I cried watching this. This is truly amazing to watch. No1 deserves the gold medal like he does. Proud of Colombia. Lots of love from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤
Oscar if you are watching this just want to let you know that you are fighter. And you are inspiration for many of us. I am preparing for an exam and and I came to this video you inspired me to work lot more harder. Sending love from India.
whatever success he attained, it never hurt more than it did in Beijing. To be so hungry and expereince such heartbreak, it stands to reason that moment in China would be the fule for a lifetime.
For anyone wondering what happened to Oscar at the Beijing Olympics, he was suffering from a (yet undiscovered) "herniated disc between two vertebrae in his neck that compressed the nerves responsible for mobility and sensitivity in his arms". He had to undergo surgery to fix it before the London Olympics and again 6 months before the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Dude is the definition of grit.
This video should be shown in every school. It's a prime example of focus and hustle when it comes to chasing your dreams. It's not a walk in the park, but anything's possible if you put your mind to it. 12 years! What a champ!
I'm an Ecuadorian and I remember this moment as it was just yesterday, all my family was rooting for Oscar, Colombia is our country neighbor and we as fellow latin americans, we suffer the losses and celebrate our victories as one, because only we know the struggle that is to achieve the spotlight in the podium at the Olympics, not to say, to win a gold medal in our conditions is going beyond the impossible with our governments and "sport" committees lacking any attention and support to our athletes.
For me its between this one and the one about the guy who had lost his wife a year prior to the olympics in a car accident. Both of them had different things motivating them, but both won Gold at the end. The human will is special
Bro this truly teared me up. When get up from your failure and train hard with singular vision to finally achieve the long due success - that’s the triumphant nature of humanity. This is more than just a gold medal in the Olympics.
This is what the Olympics/sports/life/achievement is about. It’s not one straight line - its a journey of constant pain/hustle / grit/hard work/ and determination
Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better. And in the end you'll be a champion... And yes, you proved it...This video literally made me cry...❤
Weight lifting is probably the only thing that is closest to world peace. Everyone is competing with themselves to be truly the best version of themselves. Everyone cheering for you no matter what race. North Korea winning gold that one time is also unforgettable, but this Colombian winning gold after 12 years is truly a remarkable testimony that we never want to give up..
Beauty of the Olympics. They have the same story of our first historic Olympic Gold Medalist in the Philippines, Hidilyn Diaz. Both are true blooded Warrior and Champion! 🇵🇭🇨🇴
Tor would be proud of that lift. To see someone reach the peak of their sport and to claim the victory of everyone else is a beautiful sight, especially when it has been a difficult path. He earned that. Olympic Champions are amazing.
They know EXACTLY when to bring in the piano to capture to emotion in it’s entirety. I’m not getting teary eyed, YOU are. Honestly, sport has the ability to bring out the best in humanity. Add in beautiful music and it’s magical. Also, his last view walking off that stage seeing the Olympic rings. Goosebumps…that memory will never leave him.
Holy cow! This is awesome, you could not only see how determined he was on the Gold but he looked better than ever in that event, his Physique is insane for a clean athlete that also had such heavy spinal surgeries!
That Silver medal had me in tears already. I love when athletes are so proud to get Bronze or Silver. Anyone who is a stink face when they get 2nd and 3rd place are so ungrateful. But this dude was the happiest EVER to get that Silver. It really shows his phenomenal character ❤
From tears of pain to tears of joy! An emotional and inspirational athlete. His journey is similar to Filipina weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz who won silver in Rio and gold in Tokyo. 🤩🇨🇴🇵🇭
What I know about weightlifting could be written on the back of a postage stamp but this was a great video! What a wonderful athlete! The toll on the body and mind from that kind of continual punishment must be overwhelming, yet he persisted until he reached his goal. Let's not forget the team around him, his family and friends either. They will also have shared his journey and some of that pain, as well as the joy of success that eventually came. Well done Mr Fosquera! You conquered not only the sport, but yourself as well. A true athlete.👏
This story reminded me of the story of Hidilyn Diaz of the Philippines 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭 . It also took 4 Olympics for her to get the gold ( none in the first and second try ( 2008 & 2012 ) silver in the third Olympic stint ( 2016 ) and gold in the fourth appearance ( 2020 ) , exactly the same journey as him.
