The song is from the late 60s done by The Easybeats, the precursor to AC/DC . The Easybeats had George Young, the older brother to Angus and Malcolm Young from AC/DC as one of the Easybeats guitarists as one of the songwriters of this song alongside Harry Vanda, the other Easybeats guitarist.
RIP Michael Hutchence....INXS & Jimmy Barnes legendary music luvn ur reactions to our Aussie pub music legend Jimmy Barnes and the legendary Michael Hutchence RIP❤❤
Jimmy is a genius at collaborations because he is generous as a performer. In Cold Chisel, he often happily sang back up to Ian Moss, and he has sung back up to many other great Aussie rock artists as a guest performer. Its one of the reasons he is so beloved...he knows he's good but doesn't flaunt it, and in fact goes out of his way to support other artists.
INXS were most well known internationally for their 'Kick' album which had developed a more funky sound, but were always a Pub Rock band at heart. Their earlier albums are straight up rock with some New Wave edges - Kiss the Dirt, Dancing on the Jetty, Don't Change - all have Michael belting out, and what a rock voice he has. Jimmy is just unique - not seen his like since - and the Cold Chisel catalogue needs to be explored further. A good starting point is; 'Wild Thing' - live at the Last Stand concert 'When the War is Over' - live 2003 Ringside Tour 'Khe Sanh' - an original recording Also for the Holy Trinity have a listen to some more Midnight Oil Check out the 'Oils on Water' live concert from Goat Island 1985 (just one of the greatest live shows caught on video) Songs - 'Stand in Line' , 'Only the Strong' or 'Read about it' (but really you could do any of the 15 tracks) I think you'll love all these songs from three of the greatest bands to come out of Australia.
This is written by Harry Vanda and George Young(Angus & Malcolms older brother AC⚡DC)& was a 60s hit for them in The Easybeats. Plus, Jimmy & INXS both had the connection of Richard Clapton (personal fave & Aussie Singer/songwriter legend). Jimmy had done back-up singing & table wrecking with Richard (on stage lol) & they were good mates.. & INXS drummer Jon Farriss, had bumped into Richard in a record store & had a fan boy moment(he's a huge fan). From that INXS asked Richard to produce their second album, Underneath the Colours & they became great mates also. Farris has drummed for Richard many times. To start a Richard Clapton journey,... for something more hard hitting- 'I am an Island' (It has Ian Moss-Cold Chisel, on lead guitar, Jimmy Barnes on backing vocals & also Jon Farriss is on drums. Then maybe 'Capricorn Dancer', 'Deep Water', 'Best Years of Our Lives', 'Get Back to the Shelter', 'Down in the Lucky Country'..... ✌️❤️ 🇦🇺
Best Partay Song Evaaa! Yes has an old skool rock feel as was a cover of the Easy Beats song from 1968! Jimmy has the bigger voice but Michael's subtitles should not be underestimated here. Both and the whole band do a fantastic job! Classic toon! Oh fun fact, after the set you watched Jimmy singing at Mushroom 25 concert, he went straight to the other stage and sung with INXS as Michael had passed. Thet did this song with Diesel doing Michael's part.
A great song written by Harry Vanda and George Young …. A song released late in the career of the Easybeats…..their is a video of this by the Easybeats …. The Easybeats version only hit 22 in Australia but should have been bigger.
Great song choice 🎉 It just makes you want to get up and dance. Others have already commented that it is worth finding the live versions. Australia is a very big continent, with the majority of people living on the coasts. We actually have deserts in the middle, and the outback! So in the day, bands had to tour pubs and clubs and be great playing live to get a following. The ones who could excel got a big following and did great. That is where we got the term pub rock. Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes are excellent examples and worthy of all the accolades for their work. Two of the very best live vocalists right here in this song, along with the INXS band who absolutely slay anything they touch 🎉 You've already been told by others that this is a cover of a song by the Easybeats. Their version is funky but not as rock as this one performed in the 60's. The lead singer of the Easybeats was Stevie Wright RIP, who like Jimmy, was only 16 years old when he started in the band. Both brilliantly talented. Back in the day a lot of Australian Groups did covers......but the Easybeats wrote their own, originally by George Young and lead singer Stevie, and later by the formidable team of George and Harry Vanda. Even when the Easybeats broke up they were called upon to keep writing to get their band out of debt! Their songs were hits for others including Love is in the Air by John Paul Young, Walking in the Rain by Grace Jones (also performed by themselves in their band Flash in the Pan), Show No Mercy by Mark Williams, and Running for the Red Light by Meatloaf. They also wrote a very Epic tune for Stevie, called Evie parts I, II and III. Flash in the Pan, and had another hit with Hey St Peter.
Jimmy Barnes should have been huge In the US he had a huge amount of hits In Australia that would have been hits In the US too. True story Eddie Van Halen actually rang Jimmy Barnes wanting him to front Van Halen when David Lee Roth left but Jimmy declined then Sammy Hagar was given the position.
Meatloaf’s song Running for the Red Light got sued for copying this song. Harry Vanda and George Young were subsequently added on the song writing credits.
open for INXS, before they took off, for jimmy's band Cold Chisel. The song is a cover of The Easybeats, written by Harry Vanda & George Young the older brother of Angus & Malcolm who formed AC/DC

Jimmy in Van Halen woulda been next level 😎😎
Vanda & Young could flat out write a song. You can hear the elements that would go on to become AC/DC in the style.
The Lost boys is my favourite film ❤ love this song 🎵
Good pick up -- yes, this was a cover of an Easy Beats song from the 60s. 😊
Meatloaf’s song Running for the Red Light got sued for copying this song. Harry Vanda and George Young were subsequently added on the song writing credits.
