Okay, Weird Al making a disclaimer that the recent Kid Rock music isn't him making a parody of Kid Rock is one of the funniest and best things I've heard in a while from him. And one, considering the quality of Al's music, that's telling. And two, this is the year we got Al's biopic parody movie with Daniel Radcliffe, so this is another terrific year in the great journey that is Weird Al's career.

The fact that Mainstream Sellout is Grammy nominated for best rock album is continual proof that the Grammys never have or will give a shit about real rock and metal music.
Well it went to a well deserved artist with actual talent "Ghost-Imperia" Great job Tobias Forge and congratulations 🎉 Thank god, the other runner ups were complete trash 🤮
My biggest shock here was that Kid Rock was even still releasing new music. That disheartens me even more than MGK's continued aping of emo rockers to get chicks.
I actually heard the Kid Rock album. I tried to listen to MGK and made it 4-5 songs in before I was wondering what I was doing with my life. Take what you will with this.
Well, with you having to endure these bad albums this year, I might as well share a story involving me and one of your BEST albums from last year. So, I went to see Lingua Ignota at this small venue in New Orleans last month. I got there a bit early, and she was hanging around for a bit after her soundcheck and before going to the Green room. I met her and chatted with her for a sec. Then right before she left for the green room, I showed her your Best Albums of 2021 video, on the segment on her Sinner Get Ready album. She really seemed to like what you had to say about her and her album. So there’s that!
This is a little related, sorry about the ramblings, but I see people refer to those e girls with the stupid bright dyed hair and the other bright everything as goth. I wish people actually knew what a goth was. Everyone talks about wanting a goth/emo girl but they really are talking about the average teen girl of the digital age who doesn't know what a cigarette is. That's what they want.
@@Radio-Friendly-Unit Pretty much. That’s another subculture that today’s society throws around towards people that have dyed hair and piercings: goth. Goth is more than just that.
@@quentinbringthenumetalchil5125 Some girls think they're goth cause they have bright purple hair and once in awhile they do "makeup" that looks like black metal corpsepaint without the white. It's quite stupid honestly
As someone who has followed Skillet since Alien Youth, I’m glad the band found success in an industry where that’s often hard to come by, but ever since Comatose, I’ve just been like “…okay?” I guess you either break up before your time as an underrated cult favorite or live long enough to see yourself admitted to the butt rock pantheon If I’m being perfectly honest about my feelings, the band has always been somewhat trend-chasing; their first album was grunge in ‘96, but then they sharply veered into Marilyn Manson-like industrial rock for a few albums before eventually finding the sound they’ve pretty much stayed with
@@RockedNet i am not ashamed to like their first few albums. Hell, when I first started looking at going to college, I wanted to go for film directing and I already had a project in mind of making a student Concept film based around a half dozen of their songs about a injured veteran and portraying mental health struggles as literal battlefields. That was before I realized I would be at Burger King the rest of my life with a film degree. No, i am ashamed after all of Coopers ridiculous bullsh*t and Chad Kroeger levels of Ego-mania like you discuss here
There's nothing wrong with liking Skillet at all. I'm a huge Skillet fan. I'm afraid Skillet is in a creative rut and they have no idea how to get out of it.
I am a Skillet fan but after the last album Victorious they have OFFICIALLY hit the point of no return. It’s sad because they are a good band and all. They’ll never make another album as good as Comatose (which is in my opinion their magnum opus)
I used to like Skillet a lot back in high school and the first 1 or 2 years of college. More specifically the albums "Comatose", "Awake" and some of "Rise". One thing I appreciated about those albums was that the band wasn't explicit about their religious beliefs in the music itself. Anyone could listen to those albums and get something out of it. The only reason I even knew they were religious was because I read through their Wikipedia page one day. Sucks to hear they've regressed.
@@thecountoftuscany3447Im a Christian and i wanna make this very clear: once you figure out John Cooper's political views (he's transphobic and homophobic) then you begin to realize that Dominion's lyrics are pretty much just him constantly whining about liberals.
100% agree with all these picks. As someone who was asked to play FFDP for my radio show by music promoters I sat there listening to these songs as I played them on my show thinking "Are you sure this came out in 2022? All these songs are blending into one!" Even my friend who was massively into FFDP told me that "Afterlife maybe worse than And Justice For None".
Three bands/artists representing the “Save America” and Let’s Go Brandon crowd of viewers A band that’s a secondary brother to Papa Roach A person who fell in love with an emo girl, is more hated than Nickelback, and thinks he’s “weed”. Not surprising to see any of them on this list.
Absolutely and beautifully SAVAGE ^_^. After finding so much focus in my now California sober lifestyle, I'm starting to think about creative projects again. Following this channel gives me pointers on how to avoid common mistakes artists can make, our gracious host here speaks the truth.
I knew that both Afterlife and Hotel Kalifornia were going to be on this list. It won’t stop me from liking them, but I also don’t disagree with what was said about each since most of it I agree with it. Each group has the ability to get the ingredients right but they don’t. I believe each group could right the ship, it’s just a matter of if they choose to do so.
I too liked Afterlife even though it was slightly disappointing. Though I can understand why someone wouldn't like it. Still, I think it has a few great tracks like Times Like These and Thanks for Asking
Commercial success has never really been a measure of product quality, regardless of the product in question. Sub-par products with top-tier marketing have always been able to do well commercially.
You are spitting facts! Just because something is successful doesn't mean it's good, and just because something is unsuccessful doesn't mean it's not good.
@@thingfish000 yeah thats so lame about so many so called "legacy bands", and this is coming from a guy who listens to mostly old school metal 24/7, bands like Iron Maiden or Metallica can put a decent new album and people will buy those albums, but other bands like GnR, Def Leppard, Motley Crue etc live off the nostalgia produced by songs that where radio hits 30 years ago.
Bollocks Loads of the best metal bands are modern its just slightly more alternative stuff like symphonic, folk, melodeath, gothic ect if people are into metal theyll know them
From what I listened to, and I didn't listen to any bad albums, the one I hated the most was Planet Zero from Shinedown. Boring riffs, questionably bad lyrics, fill to the brim with useless interludes that didn't do anything to connect the songs together, I thought it was a total mess from start to finish..
I guess you who hated the album didn't get it at all. You must be either Republicans or Democrats and think our country is just great. For the people who loved it we think our country is going to shit and he is talking about both sides and how they are ruining this country. Daylight was a beautiful moving song and A Symptom of being human was about anxiety but that we all sometimes have those feelings as humans, and the interludes told about the next song & what it was about.
I really enjoyed TDG explosions but maybe that's because it helped i saw them live this year and it was my first heavy rock/metal concert and was right up the front so the "explosions" tour holds a place in my heart
2022 was a tough music year for me. Three of my favorite bands all released new albums this year (Skillet, Shinedown, Panic at the Disco), and all three were GARBAGE. It’s heartbreaking to see really
I personally like a lot of their songs, but I've seen times and times again that, even if I like them, I've been less and less excited about new albums "New Empire" vol. 1 and 2, even if I find them good, had to grow on me as at first I didn't like them (I remember looking at my dad in disbelief the first time I heard it). I'm trying to avoid the new album because I'm scared that I'm going to hate it. I heard "Chaos" from that album and I was disappointed... It's also very similar to "Khaos x4" by Poppy... And this makes me feel more strange about it (and it stopped me from wanting to listen to the full album) Hope my comment is understandable, I'm not from an English-speaking country!
I'm really thankful I convinced myself to not listen to the new MGK album when it came out. I thought Tickets to My Downfall was mediocre at best and thought he might put more effort into his next album, but alas. Besides that, I've only heard AfterLife from the albums you put on this Top 5 list, which was a noticeable improvement from FFDP's usual drivel but not enough to make it good. Good video! On another note, why is there a DragonForce video in your Top 10's & Lists playlist?
I hadn't actually known you listened to the entirety of the Kid Rock album so I was shocked when I saw him in the thumbnail - then thought it'd just be an honorable mention the way SImple Plan fit as unlistenable. That said, the Weird Al tweet is the only good thing to come out of that album's existence.
Yo, I’ve been a huge fan and subscriber for a long time. I love your vids and spread the word for you. You’re videos get better and better. Thanks bro.
Honestly, I did a pretty okay job of avoiding bad albums this year, so the most I can add are good albums that could have been better, like We by the Arcade Fire, which is alright but doesn't come together, or Air Guitar by Sobs, which is a perfectly fine power pop record that lacks the personality of their first album.
I hate that the Punisher logo is associated with the alt right. That’s an awesome character that embodies vengeance and dark violence from a broken man. Leave it to a 5FDP fan to see a tragic character like that as a cool badass to look up to
He’s in tune with the Force too. Both of his Star Wars themed songs made incredibly true predictions. In fact the one was released before the movie and had to have only a couple words changed to get the plot right. (The Saga Begins).
Well, I can say one thing for Kid Rock, he can drag bands down with him pretty hard these days. I never cared much for Monster Truck to begin with (saw them open for Alice in Chains and living in Canada they get heavy rotation on the rock radios), always thought they were boring dad rock with a singer you'd swear is like the younger brother of Chad Kroeger. But when I did see the music video and the back pedalling the band did over the sellout move, they were done in my books. If there was a top 5 worst falls of rock/metal this year, MT would likely be #1.
I used to have the issue of being tired of giving bands another chance, then I realized the solution was to not do so. If word gets out any these bands put out something extraordinary then I will check it out. Otherwise, hard pass
“This is probably the worst album Kid Rock has ever done.” That is quite a feat, considering how much he sucks. It’s almost admirable that he can keep making worse and worse music.

I’ve often thought that the reason rock is dead is because after say 96 it had all been done to the highest level & there was nowhere left to go…I mean what band today can even come close to Nirvana,Tool,Soundgarden,Rage,Pantera,RHCP,AIC,Pearl Jam,etc in their prime(s)?
I couldn't agree with #1 more, like it still baffles that as to why MGK is still making rock music after that terrible "cover" of System of a Down and this album. Like, good god...
"Andrew Pappas" As a 17-year-old who is a fan of SOAD, that cover disgusts me. I only checked it out after a month it was released. Plus, I sung it at my course when I was doing Music and Sound Production (I have already completed my first year of it and I am going to begin my second one next year) along with Chop Suey, Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit, Foo Fighters' My Hero and Spiritbox's Circle with Me. Fingers crossed he doesn't cover Bring Me to Life or In The End by next year as I will end up getting pissed if MGK does it
MGK has always given me the impression that you'd listen to him if you're constipated and laxatives haven't worked. As much as I like the band, Shinedown's album Planet Zero to me was a step backwards compared to Attention Attention. While I can appreciate a band trying new things it, this album just didn't hit quite like Shinedown's previous albums as no songs really stood out for it.
Planet Zero was such a letdown. Terrible album. I had already heard the best song on it on the radio before listening to the album (Planet Zero). I love that song, but there's only a handful of songs on this album that were at least decent.
Skillet releasing stuff as bad as the single I heard off Dominion really shocked me because they DO have musical chops. Especially when you start going back into their older stuff that was heavier and flirting with nu-metal like Collide.
Thank you for sticking to your guns and not talking about Imagine Dragons' "Mercury". They have officially gone nu-metal with Bones, and Eric Kripke and Seth Rogen should be ashamed of themselves when they thought that was the song worth promoting the new Boys season with
Mgk is so incredibly cringe ..I just feel like dudes that listen to him are In the same boat as the dudes that watch my little pony..I just can't help but seeing that
What do I think? Afterlife - I keep getting sick of hearing the album, as it feels like going backwards. AJFN is still worse, but oh lord I couldn’t stand it. Ivan please stop. Hotel Kalifornia - Yeah it sucks. I am kinder to the band than most people are as I actually do have some fun with American Tragedy and Notes From The Underground, but yeah it’s one of their worst. Don’t even get me started on the Skynyrd lyric in Trap God. It’s a shame because the guys themselves seem like good guys in person, it’s just that their music most of the time doesn’t hold up. Dominion - Holy crap Skillet has hit their low point here. White Horse is absolutely the worst song they’ve done I agree. John Cooper has pretty much become insufferable at this point and the band keeps losing me with every attempt. I Guess Collide will be their only good album. Bad Reputation - I mean, it’s Kid Rock. Of course it sucks. But yeah this album makes Devil Without A Cause look like Follow The Leader. Don’t listen to Kid Rock. Mainstream Sellout - Fuck this album. Worst album of the year for me. Makes TTMD look like a masterpiece in comparison. Stuff like Emo Girl and Papercuts give me ear cancer. At least the previous album benefited from its production. Go back to Rap Colson.

Can’t help but think that MGK looks like Brann Dailor of Mastodon. Expect, of course, Dailor is massively talented and, from what I heard from others, one the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Well, at least Kelly can claim that he kinda resembles someone awesome. So…at least he’s got that going for him…
I agree with your top 5 being bad, not the worst I've heard this year though. Well, I actually didn't know Kid Rock had a new album. It's probably the worst. As for Simple Plan, maybe it's nostalgia, but I really liked it.
Album was great & had a lot of good meaningful songs. I think the anxiety part he talked about is unfair too since Pierre has talked about his personal anxiety problems throughout the years.
Haha now I want a video where you have to listen to all of Kid Rocks discography. It could be an endurance challenge on how long you last before slicing your ears off 😂
My daughter (18yo) loves Panic at the Disco… my husband hates and rags on them on all the time… they both saw this list when it was posted… tonight’s dinner table conversation was quite entertaining for me and my son. 😂 I also don’t disagree with any of this!
You know it's painful to the ears when you stop at five when it was a supposed to be a top ten. I feel your pain. And is it just me or does MGK's Tickets To My Downfall foreshadowing the current album?
I knew something was off about Dominion from the moment the single version of standing in the storm dropped Like how tf do you go from surviving the game (probably the only good track on the album) to whatever the hell else happened. Which sucks because I was hyped for it, and the day after it launched just made me want to go back to Victorious
I'm a huge Skillet fan and while I didn't hate Dominion I understand it if others did. Skillet is in a creative rut and it seems they don't know how to get out of it.
@@concertsintoronto exactly!! I thought th lyrics were very cringy! Too grandiose, almost like rap, didn't tell any stories about real life at all. I also think Lzzy's obsession w/ " Girlpower " needs to fade out, because she's made that point over & over & over again through th years. It's like, we get it Lzzy! Stuff like ' Here's to us ' ' I like it heavy ' ' Break-in ' ' American Boys ' ' Familiar taste of poison ' were all awesome & real. They need to get back to that imo
I agree! I thought maybe I grew out of the whole “girl power” messages in their songs bc their previous albums came out when I was a teenager. The thing is tho I still listen to those previous anthems and love them aside from nostalgic reasons, so idk the new album was just generic for my taste
My personal pick for #1 worst of the year is Muse - Will of the People. I was literally nauseated by the album. Every song just sounded either overbloated or too up-tempo for it's own good. Dunno, Machine Gun Kelly just seems innoffensively dull by comparison.
My worst album of the year is Alestorm - Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum. I know that Alestorm have a tendency to go for low-bar humour and songs about pirates. But at least their previous two albums were musically interesting with a good choice of cover songs. I was so excited given how much of a bop P.A.R.T.Y was, but that turned out to be the only highlight amongst literally re-hashing songs but with a worse melody. I thought for a moment they were going back to their roots in the Black Sails at Midnight style sound, but those albums felt inspired musically. This did not.
I had real doubts when their sixth album came about. Their seventh one just put the nail in the coffin, really disappointed to see them fall and badly at that.
@@RockedNet Don't bother. P.A.R.T.Y is the highlight of the album. The rest is literally re-hashing old songs with worse melodies. They didn't even make a joke for the final "wooden leg" song.
Redoing the song Tortuga I think was the biggest let down for this album as they tried remixing a song that didn't need to be remixed and bar P.A.R.T.Y. and a couple of other songs i have to agree this was a let-down for the band.
I forgot they even made a new album this year. But that was because Curse of the Crystal Coconut has kinda dented a little of Alestorm for me where I'm finding myself in circulation of their first five albums.
Honestly, in my eyes, the biggest crime that the Kid Rock album commits, aside from the cringe, is being boring. It's mostly just extremely corny dad rock that doesn't even try to offend people. Not even the first two tracks are effective in that. I mean, yeah they're hilariously bad, but even they are so predictable. It's almost as if Kid Rock doesn't even believe a single word that comes out of his mouth. Not worth getting mad about.
I used to be the a die hard skillet fan, and I do still love their their music. But what I love about them, even when I was a christain and now, is that they gave a bibical message without shoving the whole Bible thing in people's face. It allowed them to express the values of their religion while also allowing others to receive the same message, but apply it in their own way. And its not that being explicitly open and direct with your music when it comes to religion is wrong, its great actually, but skillet has lost the charm they once had. Also the front man, john, has a podcast, and expresses some far right, transphonbic views. As a queer person, it brakes my heart to know the leader of a band that got me through so much, thinks people like me are disgusting. But I will be looking out for Jen's next solo album.
Skillet went so downhill after their album 2016 album Unleashed, which was a somewhat decent album from what I remember. Tried listening to the album Victorious and I only managed to get 3 songs into it, Victorious just sounded like a terrible re-hash of the song Feel Invincible. Cannot stand Machine Gun Kelly, the guy is an absolute joke.
Glad to see I wasn't the only who thought Skillet's new album was trash. Not only the music but John Coopers attitude towards things. So Prophet Cooper is the perfect title. As a FFDP fan, I did not like this new album from them. Im tired honestly of hearing about how bad and tough Ivan is but still confused on why he's alone. I tried to give the album another chance the other day and I was bored with it by track 5. On the plus side; Paleface, Plagues and Blood Butcher put out some really good stuff this year! I'd recommend listening to them instead of this travesty that was deemed as "Rock" or "Metal"
Cooper is the biggest hypocrite of a Christian I've seen. He's INCREDIBLY pro-life (he celebrated the repeal of Roe V. Wade, aka the death of women's rights, like it was the second coming of Jesus), but bitches about the world being hypocritical (his whole feud with Cardi B) among other things
@@nu-agegamer3548 oh I agree. He dove nose first into that christian nationalism very hard. I used to like skillet but after seeing his mug in news articles and hearing one of his podcast, I'm amazed he still has followers.
@@metalmadnessreviews I like him as a singer, hate him as a person. Again, he's just a hypocritical Christian. He literally encapsulates everything I hate about Evangelical Christians, which is that he calls out things that are "evil and sinful" by being hateful (towards Roe in particular) but obviously fears sin himself. Where's his fear of sin when he's hatefully calling for a nationwide abortion ban? Like, damn.
I wouldn't want to step to Hollywood Undead, if only because it would feel like I'm kicking a small yappy dog. Like at this point, I keep feeling most of these bands are like what Motley Crue was in the 90s.
Couldn’t agree more with some of your picks, especially Mainstream Sellout, that album is 🗑. But also I would also include Muse’s Will of the People cause along with Love Sux (Though I didn’t hate that album as much as you did or as much as WOTP, thought it was alright) it just left me so disappointed cause even though both Muse and Avril are far from their glory days, listening to them, I just think to myself that I know these acts are capable of so much more to the point where it’s becoming sad.
As a former Skillet diehard, Dominion, John’s antics, and especially White Horse and all of its christofacism left me completely appalled. Glad I left this band in the dust.
I can't stand MGK. If tickets to my downfall came out at the peak of pop punk, the album wouldn't have even charted. The album would have been middle of the pack trash that would have been forgotten after a week of release. Mainstream sellout is at least perfectly named because he is exactly that, a damn sellout. I heard emo girl and it is nonsensical pandering trash that should have been scrapped before release
Well this year wasn't too bad for rock and metal as a whole. Shadow of Intent, Korn, Corpsegrinder, Motionless in White, Lamb of God, Slipknot, Lorna Shore, and Disturbed all released damn good albums this year. Also, as someone who still loves the albums Collide and Comatose (collide was once my favorite album of all time), it's sad how low Skillet has sunk as time went on.
@@TheMovieBuff96 yeah, September 22nd. I haven't listened to it yet as I'm listening to the albums in chronological order for every band I listen to, and I have alot so far so I haven't kept up with Megadeth as much as I'd like. Currently finished Endgame (which I loved) so I'm close
Unfortunate about Skillet because they were one of my favorites for years and I wasn't even aware they were a Christian rock band because they never sounded preachy. Guess they got tired of people enjoying it for the music.
I think MGK lost his marbles and starting hitting the crack pipe after Eminem wiped the floor with his ass. Lol. Now he just is crying for attention as far from rap as possible.
Im surprised you didnt mention how Kid Rock stole and ripped on the album title of one of my favorite Thin Lizzy album's. He gave Bad Reputation....A Bad Reputation?
MGK has his audience. He could continue doing his Punk stuff and live well. But man that guy has no control. He need to learn how to read the room and chill out.
First he becomes a rapper then he pisses off Eminem then he became ((rockstar)) because he can’t take criticism then he pisses off Slipknot what now is he gonna become a country star and piss off Dolly Parton
@@reynaldohtf the name Dominion was taken from Dominion Theology, the idea that a nation is to be governed by Biblical law. Sounds a lot like they're promoting fascism
I was honestly expecting you to put Nickelback's Get Rollin on this list, along with Disturbed's Divisive, since you gave both albums a 5/ 10. I'm a fan of both albums by the way, I had a good a time with them personally.
5/10 is hardly a top 5 worst of the year kind of score. It is honestly pretty accurate. It is fine, but it is just more of the same. After Evolution back fired, they decided to play it a bit TOO safe with the followup.
@@crazydud3380 I guess. Evolution was such a disappointment of an album, Divisive is a lot better for sure, although a lot of the songs do sound a bit samey.
Pandering and being frozen in time for the wrong reasons are all that these artists have going for them. A Three Days Grace album on a Worst Of list in 2022? Gee! I wonder how and why. Hint, the soul of the band went to Saint Asonia. Oh and my pick for Worst Album of 2022 to me? Disturbed's Divisive. Yeah, I'm going there. You mean to tell me that Disturbed couldn't come up with anything at least decent to good from Evolution to Divisive? That's 4 years in between! 4 years of waiting to hear "Bad Man! Bad, Bad, Bad Man!" and people think that Disturbed is back to their roots?! I'm sorry but no, they've lost me on this one.
it's sad that 5FDP has gone down the drain, i liked a lot of earlier stuff they did like "Remember Everything" and "Never Enough" but they just cant seem to get their shit together as you said, just comes out too samey and Ivan Moody sounds like Ozzy is more coherent than he is, which with all the drugs Ozzy took over the years, that's saying a lot.
I'm a Skillet fan and I hate White Horse. I always skip it if it plays on Spotify. I personally didn't hate Dominion but I do understand if others did. The production isn't good and some of the lyrics are eye rolling. The talent in the band is not being utilized which sucks because I've seen Skillet live three times and they are great live.

I laughed so hard at Weird Al's tweet when I saw it.

That's awesome to hear. Thank you for doing that!
MGK’s description of an “emo girl” seems close to what a TikTok E - girl is.

As someone who has followed Skillet since Alien Youth, I’m glad the band found success in an industry where that’s often hard to come by, but ever since Comatose, I’ve just been like “…okay?” I guess you either break up before your time as an underrated cult favorite or live long enough to see yourself admitted to the butt rock pantheon
If I’m being perfectly honest about my feelings, the band has always been somewhat trend-chasing; their first album was grunge in ‘96, but then they sharply veered into Marilyn Manson-like industrial rock for a few albums before eventually finding the sound they’ve pretty much stayed with
This is an interesting way to find out that Six Feet Under did not release an album this year!

I am ashamed to admit i like Skillet and am a fan and I didn't have a clue they released a new album.
Don't be ashamed. Like what you like. I was a SKillet fan years back. I think they just went off the deep end.
No, i am ashamed after all of Coopers ridiculous bullsh*t and Chad Kroeger levels of Ego-mania like you discuss here
Skillet’s early stuff was really good. Dark and experimental, while still being somewhat radio-ready
There's nothing wrong with liking Skillet at all. I'm a huge Skillet fan. I'm afraid Skillet is in a creative rut and they have no idea how to get out of it.
I am ashamed to admit I saw them live at Godstock 98
You’re not kidding about people not wanting the Kid Rock album. I live in Alabama and still don’t know anyone who’s listening to Bad Reputation.
The only “Bad Reputation” I like is the Joan Jett song.
Kid Rock’s new record wasn’t released, it escaped.
I am a Skillet fan but after the last album Victorious they have OFFICIALLY hit the point of no return. It’s sad because they are a good band and all. They’ll never make another album as good as Comatose (which is in my opinion their magnum opus)
Yeah I think Unleashed was their last decent album
They were so experimental in the 90s, then they blew up after Comatose and never stopped making that album afterward. It's sad.
@@ryanahr2267 The albums after Comatose aren’t anywhere close to being compared.

@@user-wc2pk9iw6c I liked Rise, thought that album was alright
I used to like Skillet a lot back in high school and the first 1 or 2 years of college. More specifically the albums "Comatose", "Awake" and some of "Rise". One thing I appreciated about those albums was that the band wasn't explicit about their religious beliefs in the music itself. Anyone could listen to those albums and get something out of it.
The only reason I even knew they were religious was because I read through their Wikipedia page one day. Sucks to hear they've regressed.
Skillet is legendary and I'm saying that as an athiest, Dominion absolutely rocks and has some of my favorite songs ever

And justice for none isn't bad

I knew that both Afterlife and Hotel Kalifornia were going to be on this list. It won’t stop me from liking them, but I also don’t disagree with what was said about each since most of it I agree with it. Each group has the ability to get the ingredients right but they don’t. I believe each group could right the ship, it’s just a matter of if they choose to do so.
I too liked Afterlife even though it was slightly disappointing. Though I can understand why someone wouldn't like it. Still, I think it has a few great tracks like Times Like These and Thanks for Asking

I agree, Planet Zero the album was terrible.
Putting MGK and kid Rock is kind of Fish in a Barrel, isn’t it?
I agree with that 100% honestly. I mean, yeah, they’re both terrible, but it honestly feels like punching down sometimes. It’s just too easy.

I didn't hate Dominion but I understand why others did.
Agreed, Planet Zero was terrible.
I listened to "Middle Of A Breakup" by Panic! At The Disco a few months ago, and it was just awful.
As someone who used to really like Hollywood Undead, I had no clue they released anything since 5.
I personally like a lot of their songs, but I've seen times and times again that, even if I like them, I've been less and less excited about new albums
"New Empire" vol.
And this makes me feel more strange about it (and it stopped me from wanting to listen to the full album)
Hope my comment is understandable, I'm not from an English-speaking country!
Övergivenheten by Soilwork has been my favourite album of the year. I had never listened to them before, which is a big regret.
You deserve 10000000 likes just for having to put up with these. You have my respect buddy!
Honestly I love the kid rock album in the same way I like the films by Neil breen
Its strange to me how they break the songs into parts but they don't really expand as expected from other bands that do that.
I hate that the Punisher logo is associated with the alt right. That’s an awesome character that embodies vengeance and dark violence from a broken man. Leave it to a 5FDP fan to see a tragic character like that as a cool badass to look up to
11:50 what do you think about Weird Al? I saw the movie and started watching his videos. The man is hilarious and talented.
He’s in tune with the Force too. Both of his Star Wars themed songs made incredibly true predictions. In fact the one was released before the movie and had to have only a couple words changed to get the plot right. (The Saga Begins).
8:22 “White Horse” isn’t just a song about the Rapture; it may very well *be* the Rapture.
MGK gets offended when Rock Legends call him a "Journeyman" the guy is softer than Charmin.
I agree, he's an asswipe
I miss when Skillet made albums like Collide and Comatose instead of contractually produced garbage every 3 years
Well, I can say one thing for Kid Rock, he can drag bands down with him pretty hard these days.
I love how the only reason Simple Plan's album isn't on the list is because you can't listen to the whole thing. I feel that.
I used to have the issue of being tired of giving bands another chance, then I realized the solution was to not do so. If word gets out any these bands put out something extraordinary then I will check it out. Otherwise, hard pass
I feel bad for Travis barker cause he got a born with horns tattoo and MGK went and changed the album title.

Most of those are good to great, but I’ll listen to Kid Rock before I listen to Nirvana or Rage. Two of the most overrated bands of all time.
Morbid Angel smokes all those bands.
MGK's voice is literally unbearable. His whole public persona aside, it's literally one of the worst things I've ever heard in my life.
The last song on the Kid Rock album has him talking about pooping his pants. That says it all.
They have officially gone nu-metal with Bones, and Eric Kripke and Seth Rogen should be ashamed of themselves when they thought that was the song worth promoting the new Boys season with
Imagine Dragons went nu metal? What the hell are you talking about? I didn’t hear any ounce of nu metal on Mercury.

Did not hear the full album. Just the P-A-R-T-Y song.
Was honestly a boring year
Good year good music got Kendrick Lamar. Black Star. And Jack white the smile The Weeknd
3:28 gee I wonder how Rocked will feel when he finds out that Elton John, at 47, made songs for an animated Disney film.
He's even worse on Twitter/X.
@@nu-agegamer3548 I know. I guess a side effect of the alt right pipeline is having shit music taste
So would you say Skillet has come full circle? They started off electronic 20 years ago.
ruclips.net/video/few2v1KW2g4/видео.html
But dominion is where they went into electronic and forgot about their rock roots
It's funny to come back to this video and hear the segment on Kid Butt-Rock's album after seeing Todd In The Shadows' TrainWreckords video on it.
I had absolutely 0 idea that Simple Plan put out an album this year. Looks like they really have faded to irrelevancy
On the plus side;
Paleface, Plagues and Blood Butcher put out some really good stuff this year!
It was such a bummer Panic played the ENTIRE new record on this year’s tour. I get promoting the new album but my god.
As a former Skillet diehard, Dominion, John’s antics, and especially White Horse and all of its christofacism left me completely appalled. Glad I left this band in the dust.
I didn't hate Dominion but I understand why others did.
LoL, Christofascism. LMAO, even!
MGK just likes the idea of alternative culture, that's it.
Not an album, but what were your thoughts on the two "new" Guns n Roses tracks that were released this year?
GNR is my favorite band of all time
Those songs were not good
@@JDP2104 That's because they weren't even god enough for Chinese Democracy. They're just left over table scraps.
@_ JDP2104 _ they're missing a guitarist who wears a KFC bucket on his head
have to be honest though, the music video for kid rock's ''' Aint nobody gonna tell me how to live'' is very entertaining
You forgot to add Megadeth to the list my man
@@ncrveteranranger4454 I didn't know that Megadeth released a new album this year. Awesome! I hope it's as good as Dystopia was.
I’m 51 and never listened to any of this shit. Thank Christ.
Hey Rocked, can you please do a video on the Australian alternative trio, Chase Atlantic? Thanks.
Honestly? I loved the new Panic despite its flaws. Probably gonna make my best list.
As for the worst of the year, yeah, Skillet. Fuck em.
Joan Jett should be pissed too
@@flor9389 She should. Kid Rock just making dead people cringe beyond the grave and making the living get the idea of suing someone
MGK has his audience. He could continue doing his Punk stuff and live well.
But man that guy has no control. He need to learn how to read the room and chill out.
A nonce can’t be controlled though
He’s not even continuing with rock anymore. He really is a damn sellout, and to think he had something good going with TTMD
First he becomes a rapper then he pisses off Eminem then he became ((rockstar)) because he can’t take criticism then he pisses off Slipknot what now is he gonna become a country star and piss off Dolly Parton
He’s not punk in the slightest
@@sdFreerey ttmdf was garbage what crack are u on
Honestly, I think Skillet went too far with their religious message this time.
Why mentioning the religious messages? Is what they do, have respect!
I liked Divisive even though it was a little underwhelming. I thought the track with Ann Wilson was freaking great tho
@@JDP2104 I really liked Divisive, especially considering how unmistakably ASS Evolution was!
Ngl man it's kind of bummer when you reveal two of the albums in your thumbnail when you're only doing 5 albums. Love your content though
