Thanks everyone who watched, subscribed, commented and talked shit this year, we appreciate every one of you!
Look forward to this every year!
Thanks to Banger! Is 2024 the year that Blayne gets added to the channel picture? :)

This channel is so fucking important. Thank you guys for all the hard work and being there for all of us! Your lists never let us down.
Lmao
Important? If you consider garbage to be good music.
🤡🤡🤡@@johnstrika9170

Moonlight Sorcery - HORNED LORD OF THE THORNED CASTLE (Blayne Smith, 24:32)
You're awesome, thanks.
My personal vote for best of the best goes to Mansion's Second Death. As a horror movie fan this has been my soundtrack for January. Thank you to Banger TV for flying the metal flag.
Great picks I also am enjoying Moonlight Sorcery if they had just a touch more vocal diversity Id have them in my top 3. Ive picked:
1st Aeolian - Echoes of the future
2nd Sylosis - A sign of things to come
3rd Cattle decapitation - Terrasite
Not that anyone cares!
Thans for an entertaining year Bangertv \m/
Nice, I've been waiting for this. Great year for metal.
Some favorites off the top of my head: Horrendous, Panopticon, Tomb Mold, Dodheimsgard, Baroness, Enslaved, Hellripper, Thantifaxath, some other shit my old drunk mind is forgetting.
Love the Sam impression man.

2. Entheos Time Will Take Us All
3. Vintersea Woven Into Ashes
4. Ne Obliviscaris Exul

What a great year 2023 has been:
1) Dødsheimsgard - Black Medium Current

Great list. I just added all of these to a playlist!
Moonlight Sorcery and Valdrin are at the top of my list this year. Thanks, as always, for doing what you do Banger Crew. I find so much amazing music from you folks.
Awesome pics! Always fun to watch and go buy metal you don’t know how you missed!!! Was sad to not see “Vast Reaches Unclaimed” by Majesties!
Loads of festive listening ahead . Thanks Dudes!
definitely a diverse list lol. My album of the year (even though it's not entirely metal) is Svalbard - The Weight of the Mask. The emotions on that album are raw and real. Really gets me going. Cattle Decapitation is number 2. Still singing the chorus to Scourge of the Offspring to this day lol.
I love your pics guys! Happy Holidays 🤘🤘
thanks for the interesting reviews. will check it out.
Thank You Blayne and Hayle for chosing Moonlight Sorcery's release, that's mine too!
Very happy to see Necrofier on your List, Daniel!! It is auch a great, but underrated album! Thanx!
Hearing a few seconds of a band is more valuable to me than descriptions

Amazing picks! Here's mine:
1.Cloak: Black Flame Eternal
2.Frozen Soul: Glacial Domination
3.Hellripper: Warlocks Grim and Withered Hags
HM: Crypta, Enforced, Raider, Hanabie, Blackbraid, Obituary
Great picks from everyone. I am looking forward to checking out Mansion in particular, that album sounds like it could be incredible. For anyone looking for new Fuming Mouth is called Last Day of Sun, not Out of Time.
I thought I had a killer list of top albums of the year myself, until I saw this video. Seriously, where do you guys come up with these stuff? Half of your picks I didn’t even hear about, and many were absolutely awesome. Keep up the good work guys! 🤘
Some fantastic albums/bands! Hopefully we can make it on this with our next album next time 🤘
First time ive seen any of your vids and definitely gettng a follow. Lots of love for the death and black which is great ro see
Do more of this !! This was awesome!!!
Talk about a great year for metal! Let's hope 2024 will be another good one! My albums of the year have to go to:
1. As Gomorrah Burns - Cryptopsy
2. The Awakening - Kamelot
3. Zwielicht - Mental Cruelty
4. Hymns From The Apocrypha - Suffocation
5. The Dark Tower - Burning Witches
6. Terrasite - Cattle Decapitation
7. Shades of Sorrow - Crypta
8. Downer - Ten56
9. Forgone - In Flames
10. Here For None - Warmen
That In Flames record was probably the comeback album of the year. What a nice, overdue return to form. 🤘😳🤘
Should put a list of all the albums in the description so we could check them out. I forget the names of the albums so I have to rewatch the video every time. That being said, awesome vid like always. One of my favorite YT channels! Btw, wormhole or the new Zenith Passage records deserve some love!
My top 3 were Enslaved - Heimdal, Aeternus - Philosopher and Thy Catafalque - Alfold.
Damn, didn't know anything about Final Gasp but when you mention that Arthur Rizk is involved, you know I gotta check it out.
Upon Desecrated Altars by Left Cross is definitely my aoty. Keep up the good work guys!
Majesties - Vast Reaches Unclaimed is my aoty. Looking forward to Spectral Voice next year 🤘🏼
Fantastic record of wall to wall creative riffs. one of my tops for sure. I'm assuming you like Inexorum and Obsequiae as well?
@@goregrind1 haven't listened to Inexorum but I definitely love Obsequiae
My AOTY has to be Oak Pantheon’s The Absence. I know Blayne wasn’t impressed when he checked it out on his metal monthly stream - fair enough, but every single song draws from a different genre and the fact that it all blends together so brilliantly is a feat I WISH I could achieve. It’s easily weaselled its way into my very short list of comfort food albums.
My favorite was definitely Exogalactic by Xoth. Shame that it wasn't as popular as some of the other releases this year.
Great album, was my second favorite this year.
Agreed. This album is a masterpiece and the taste makers are sleeping on it! Easily album of the year for me.
6 by Graveyard is a great record I’ve not seen much talk about it.
Some great picks! So many fantastic releases this year. My highlights are:
Sulphur Aeon - Seven Crowns and Seven Seals
…and Oceans - As in Gardens, So in Tombs
Sühnopfer - Nous sommes d'hier
Bloedmaan - Castle inside the Eclipse
Moonlight Sorcery - Horned Lord Of The Thorned Castle
Ahab - The Coral Tombs
Honorable mentions: Nithing, Arkhtinn, Wormhole, 1476, Ildskaer, 7 H. Target, Dryad, Deathcode Society, Böotes Void, The Night Eternal
Diggin' Dekay's Street Tombs shirt. Their album Reclusive Decay is my favorite death metal album this year
they were SO GOOD on the left to die tour
In one minute Dekay just gave me so many home work assignments..... My favorite kind of homework!!
only kind of homework worth doing tbh
Without further ado, here's my best of 2023 list!
1. Air Raid - Fatal Encounter
NWOTHM, classic Malmsteen style.
2. Hellripper - Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags
Black N Roll from Scotland
3. Enforced - War Remains
Hardcore/Crossover. Similar to Power Trip.
4. Obituary - Dying of Everything
Old-school Death legends. Heavy riffs, haunting and in your face vocals.
5. Wytch Hazel - IV: Sacrament
Christian metal, with a trad flair. Very catchy and good riffs.
6. Powerwolf - Interlludium
Modern Power Metal giants. They're blowing up. Don't miss the boat on them.
7. Smoulder - Violent Creed of Vengeance
NWOTHM. For fans of Chastain. Fronted by Sarah of Banger TV.
8. Nervosa - Jailbreak
Modern Death with classic Thrash influences. All-female.
9. KNIFE - Heaven Into Dust
Modern Black N Roll/Thrash.
10. Legion of the Damned - The Poison Chalice
Very catchy and melodic modern Thrash.
Honorable mentions:
1. Cirith Ungol - The Dark Parade
Classic metal legends. Celebrating their farewell tour in 2024!
2. Crypta - Shades of Sorrow
Nervosa-esque (ex-members) with harsher vocals/screams.
3. Green Lung - This Heathen Land
Stoner/Doom Metal. Sabbath and Sleep influences
4. Helms Deep - Treacherous Ways
Modern band with a classic vibe. Halford-like vocals, which can be overwhelming at times.
5. GAMA BOMB - BATS
Modern Thrash, with tons of classic influences, headbanging riffs, funny lyrics and interesting jazzy arrangements which work very well!
This was great! I took many notes for later. My favorite of the year was devil music by portrayal of guilt
glad to see Moonlight Sorcery, Ulthar, Hellripper and Thantifaxath mentioned. My top 10:
1. Malokarpatan - Vertumnus Caesar
2. Varathron - The Crimson Temple
3. Hoplites - Ἀντιτιμωρουμένη
4. Wayfarer - American Gothic
5. Dødheimsgard - Black Medium Current
6. Panopticon - The Rime Of Memory
7. Horrendous - Ontological Mysterium
8. Odz Manouk - Bosoragazan
9. Runemagick - Beyond The Cenotaph Of Mankind
10. Furia - Huta Luna
Hell yeah for the Furia shout-out.
I'm gonna CHEAT and throw out a HUGE curveball - my album of 2023 was recorded in 1981! It's "Who Art in Hell" by Genghis Khan.
Formed when an English guitarist came to Canada and decided to start a NWOBHM-style band - this album is influenced by Iron Maiden, Angel Witch, Diamond Head - all the NWOBHM greats of that era - except it's CANADIAN!
For whatever reason - it NEVER got an official release - until 2023!
Go and check it out on RUclips - the title track "Our Father Who Art In Hell" should grab you right away if you love the NWOBHM style.
Sounds cool, I will check that out.
My fav metal albums this year: END, King Gizz, Telos, Fromjoy, Spirit Possession, Liturgy, Big Brave, Cryptopsy, Full of Hell & Primitive Man
Album of the year.....Green Lung: This Heathen Land
Not sure if splits count but Dream Unending/Worm - Starpath was my favourite
Great picks everyone! Mine is Vast Reaches Unclaimed. Tomb mold was a close second. Can't wait for 2024 (blood incantation please?). Hope all of you are doing well and keep up the great work!!
Banger Host's best metal albums of the year haw become probably my favorite video from BangerTV. I always make a spotify list of all the bands mentioned and listen to at least 2 tracks from each. (Thanks for picking 100 albums Dekay, jerk). My taste in genres has been pretty close to Sarah and Dylan's, but over the years I've been moving closer to Blayne's. Metal is a massive genre and it's been a great journey listening to some things I normally would avoid.
My AOTY: Carnosus - Visions of Infinihility
next year i'll pick a million albums
This is the video I always wait for at the end of the year! But I missed Sam
My pick for album of the year is Sermon - Of Golden Verses. Their first record was very good, but I was not prepared for how much of a leap in quality they made with their sophomore. Prog Metal without wank but with emotions and power aplenty, and a unique mystical atmosphere. The peaks like the final song are transcendental.
Runners up:
Soen - Memorial
Riverside - ID.Entity
Dark Flood - Illusion of Light
Xoth - Exogalactic
( AVKRVST - The Approbation ) from Norway was a brilliant Prog rock / metal release of 2023. A band you should check out if your into Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Katatonia etc.
This is the one I have been waiting for 🙏🤘🤘
Dekay with the home run again. He just kills it.
thanks! love putting together this list every year
@@daniel_dekay great list and amazing delivery. Happy holidays man.
‘Treacherous Ways’ by Helms Deep is my absolute number one.
The beginning of the bit with Connor had a very faint microphone noise thing in the background which sounded almost as if someone was literally taking a long hit from a bong elsewhere in the room. So fitting😂
It takes me so long to watch these vids cause I have to stop at each album I don't know and listen to a few tracks and save the albums to a playlist. Thanks banger!
Same hahaha
Took me 3 sessions to get through it all including the comments. You all Rock!
Dekay mentioning Exmortus made my day
we
Can we get a playlist with all the bands mentioned?
Man your members are being add up year by year ,great going
My albums of the year are Nightmarer - Deformity Adrift & Enslaved - Heimdal. Couldn’t just pick one. Keep up the great work. You guys rule. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Awesome choices. Deformity Adrift Redux was even better!
@@joshmcguffie5156 holy fuck! You weren’t kidding. Didn’t think that album could be better. Thanks. I didn’t even know that existed. 🤘
@@joshmcguffie5156 didn't know that either. Sounds even better
Yay… moment been waiting for!!!

Excellent Banger year. Thank you
Dekay picked Final Gasp?! Pleasantly surprised by his picks every year.
tryna keep you on your toes!
I have been waiting for this since January 1st 2023 ❤
My AOTY has to be Eyes - Congratulations. Such a massive and engaging slab of metallic hardcore - simplified and focused without ever becoming simple or one note. Highly recommended!
I spent more than 3 hours getting to know "SOM" on your recommendation! Thanks...
Frozen Crown - Call of the North
All killer and no filler. First Euro power metal album I ever really liked and damn is it a masterpiece.
Have you heard LOVEBITES yet?
I'll give me top 12 metal releases. I'm as surprised as you at my #1, but it kept growing on me until it was pretty much tied with my second pick. My over-all favorites list had a lot of non-metal on it this year, but I just gave you guys these.
12) Dokken - Heaven Comes Down (Oct. 27)
11) Howling Giant - Glass Future (Oct. 27)
10) Satan's Fall - Destination Destruction (Nov. 03)
9) Acid Force - World Targets In Megadeaths (Nov. 03)
8) Air Raid - Fatal Encounter (Feb. 24)
7) Raven - All Hell's Breaking Loose (June 30)
6) Alice Cooper - Road (Aug. 25)
5) Immortal - War Against All (May 26)
4) Night Demon - Outsider (March 17)
3) Freeroad - Do What You Feel (Jan. 27)
2) Obituary - Dying Of Everything (Jan. 13)
1) Metallica - 72 Seasons (April 14)
Thanks, all!
You should give a listen to the album ‘Treacherous Ways’ by Helms Deep. John Gallagher of Raven on bass. It’s so good.
Top 3 for me have to be: Wayfarer, Blackbraid, and Panopticon. Really enjoyed the Dying Wish LP too. Thanks for all you do BangerTV!
Mansion - Second Death. It is f'n brilliant. I can't stop listening to it.
Love the Cattle Decap pick.
We love Bradley!!!
Some interesting selections that I need to check out, but Banger really needs a power metal reviewer for these end of year lists as there were some great releases in this genre. My list of great albums in no particular order (all genres):
Green Lung - This Heathen Land: Occult doom from England. Couldn't stop listening, great tunes and haunting lyrics.
All for Metal - Legend: Cheesy as all hell? Yep. But they know what they're doing, the songs are catchy and the leading vocalist kills it.
Angus McSix - Sword of Power: The best vocalist in modern power metal gets his own band and releases an album that is up there with the best of Gloryhammer. Never fails to put a smile on my face.
RoadWolf - Midnight Lightning: Not a lot of attention for this, but this 1980s hard rock/heavy metal style band put out a whole album of great songs. The perfect album to listen to before a night on the town.
Night Demon - Outsider: Night Demon release an out-an-out classic. Haunting songs, great music.
The Night Eternal - Fatale: Took a few listens, but this eventually got really under my skin. Dark, occult and catchy as all hell.
Cirith Ungol - The Dark Parade: The Lords of the Dead nailed it with their second comeback album. Whisper it, but I think this is their best album. They are heavier and more ferocious than ever, and Tim Baker's vocals are insane.
Hellripper - Warlocks Grim and Withered Hags: Yeah, another great album from the Scottish king of black n' roll.
Overkill: Scorched: Best album in years. Vicious, fast but also willing to slow it down when needed.
Gamma Bomb - Bats: Are Gamma Bomb the most consistent thrash metal band in the world? Discuss.
Frozen Crown - Call of the North: power metal with some death metal bombast. Excellent
Sadistic Force - Midnight Assassin: Evil and fast blackened thrash. I love this kind of music, but often find songs just blur together. Not here as the band introduce just enough variety to make each song stand out.
Moonlight Sorcery - Horned Lord of the Thorned Castle: Power metal + black metal? Yes, please!
Nice picks, thank you guys! But the only thing is missing on BangerTV is some kinda Brutal Death Metal piece. Not that kind of Cryptopsy, Dying Fetus, Suffocation "brutal", but the real underground brutality which bring something new to the table, like Nithing, Ungraceful, Paroxysm Unit, Dehumanizing Encephalectomy, Out of the Mouth of Graves, Celestial Bifurcation, 7 H. Target, Vomi Noir, Cadavoracity and so on. This kinda music made my top this year :)
Good choices! I would also add the new Crepitation.
@@diprosopus8904 totally agree, awesome album! There are much more like Vasculitis, Tortured, Dead & Dripping, etc :)
Hell Yes, Necrofier, Cloak, Hellripper!
Hey Dylan, thanks for turning me onto Lattermath. That's exactly the type of stuff I'm looking for.
Moonlight Sorcery, cattle decap and Hellripper are my top picks for this year
My faves this year were:
1. Cattle Decapitation
2. Sanguisugabogg
3. Dying Fetus
4. Fires in the Distance
5. Cryptopsy
6. Suffocation
7. Obituary
8. Xoth
9. Frozen Soul
10. Katatonia
5. 'Death Pill' by Death Pill
4. 'Horned Lord of the Thorned Castle' by Moonlight Sorcery
3. 'Yallah Beibe' by MC YALLAH
2. 'Sator Arepo' by Judgitzu
1. 'Seasons Dreaming Death' by GraveRipper
Very surprised Dylan didnt have Ne Obliviscaris' new album in his honorable mentions, one of the best progressive metal albums of the year and I was ecstatic to see them perform some of the songs live earlier this year.
As with me personally these last 5 years, been collecting/listening to bands of "old". From legends I've never properly delve into or the obscure & rare gems...
But of the few 2023 albums I've listened to, my favorite Metal release this year is either VORNA's "Aamunkoi" or WHITE SKULL's "Metal Never Rusts".
My #1 is definitely Air Not Meant For Us by Fires in the Distance.
Its so hard to narrow down my list but some that have been on repeat for me are:
1. Air Not Meant For Us - Fires in the Distance
2. Exul - Ne Obliviscarus
3. ...And Everything In Between - Unprocessed
4. Descent - Orbit Culture
5. Violent Creed of Vengeance - Smoulder
6. Second Death - Mansion
7. Superbloom - Silent Planet
I still have a lot to listen through from 2023 though and youve given me plenty of homework. My list will likely expand dramatically.
Midnight Sorcery is on my top 10 too, and of course Cattle Decapitation. (It's almost too obvious of a pick. That means it's deserving.) I'm checking out Enforced now because I missed it before. Holy smoke! Same goes for Entheos, and that Shadows album is also something else. Little outside of my genre, but it wouldn't be if that's what Heavy Metal always sounded like, with all the crossover genres. I would never have considered spinning that without seeing this recommendation, so thank you.
This video is all I need to get by.
SALUD!!!
1. Sulphur Aeon - Seven Crowns and Seven Seals
2. Wayfarer - American Gothic
3. Vertebra Atlantis - A Dialogue with the Eeriest Sublime
Man, I am so glad I watched this. That Moonlight Sorcery album is fucking siiiiiiiiccccckkkk! I can see why so many put it on their list! Reminds me of Children of Bodom (RIP) one minute, then Winterfylleth the next. Gonna be working my way through a lot of these recommendations!
My fave is definitely Dokken's "HEAVEN COMES DOWN"; fantastic album, full with killers! Runner-up; "HUNGER" by Maggot Heart. How u guys cannot mention it; easily slays 'em all.
Shout out for the Lattermath referral. Never head of them but that album is a banger! I liked it so much better than so many others on this list.
My top-3 is Asinhell, Cattle decapitation and Enforced. Reckon it's first time my top-3 was all mentioned in Banger TV.
Panopticon. Blackbraid, Shylmagoghnar, Hellripper, Aeolian, Faidra, Thantifaxalith, Asagraum, Primordial, Moonlight Sorcery, Sacred Outcry, Crypta, Wayfarer, Howling Giant, Ne Obliviscaris, Thats my top 15 in no particular order except my overall number 1 is Panopticon.
Dying Fetus is mine also Cattle Decapitation and Marduk 🤘🏻
Mithridatum, AHAB, Acausal Intrusion, and Thantifaxath were my top 4 albums of the year.
