Mainstream Rock is a music chart in Billboard magazine that ranks the most-played songs on mainstream rock radio stations in the United States, a category that combines the formats of active rock and heritage rock. The chart was launched in March 1981, as Rock Albums and Top Tracks, after which the name changed first to Top Rock Tracks, then to Album Rock Tracks, and finally to its present title in 1996.

#10, #2, and maybe #7 i believe it was with trapt was definitely not worth to be on this list.
@@LaughWhileItsStillLegal I said in the video beginning that so many BAD songs came out in the past few years that the whole list needs to be redone.
Oh Yeah is probably the worst on this given what Green Day are actually capable of.
How long until you update this to swap out RX (Medicate) with History of Violence? 😂😂😂
Yes Photograph sucks, but all the memes made the suffering worth it
"People were tired of 2020 Green Day". Also, people are tired of 2020 in general.
Yeah. 2020 can just kiss my ass.
I’d listen to Father of All and the worst parts of the Trilogy over and over again if it meant that I didn’t have to live out the rest of this already godawful fucking year.
Wake Me Up When 2020 Ends
And 2020 isn't even half over yet.
@@knightwing5169 Uh yeah it is it's June 6 more months mate
My roommate saw Puddle of Mudd live *for free* several years ago, and he still says he feels like he paid too much 💀
Puddle of Mudd is terrible live.
P O M is just plain terrible all around
Puddle of Mud = Pile of Sh!t 💩
I always called them Muddle of Pudd
He paid in his time and patience
I have a story about Headstrong. I was in Highschool in the midwest at the time, and our welding shop teacher had a CD player in the class/shop that he would let us play our own music on. One day a student brought in his Trapt CD and played Headstrong on it. And only Headstrong. Even ran out to hit repeat on it before he learned he could just set it to constantly repeat on it's own.
Well about fifteen minutes into this, the teacher steps away from his desk, and takes the CD out of the player, and snaps the CD in half. When the dude came out to see what happened to his tunes, the teacher just said "Trapt's banned." and went back to his desk.
That's effed up, man 😂
I remember hearing someone describe Godsmack as an “angry Creed” 😂
emo Nickelback lol
Frankly, even non-religious people tend to think Godsmack is cringe. That says A LOT.
@@zackzallie8735 RIGHT 💯😂😂😂
I can see that

Don’t forget that Aerosmith performed “Pink” at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Let me say that again. The KIDS’ Choice Awards.
Considering what we've learned about Nickelodeon recently, this statement isn't shocking. 😂
Forget "Parental Advisory" warnings. Albums should have Durst warnings instead.
This is gold!! "Warning: contains Fred Durst"
@@IMAMONGUS "May contain ear bleeding vocals."
True
Hahaha
Why do you hate Fred Durst? I’m not a fan of rap-metal or most nu-metal in general, but Durst has a decent voice in my opinion. Sure, he’s a douche but most frontpeople in huge rock bands are. I don’t get all the hate about him.
The worst thing is that my local rock radio station STILL plays most of these songs.
You're just a pussy soy boy liberal who doesn't know how to RAWK. Only the hardest, finest, purest RAWK
(joke)
You listen to radio? Do you also type on a typewriter and ride into work on a dinosaur?
No? Is there a problem with listening to radio? They still put them in cars and shit.
@@SerErryk 🤓
hate to shit in your cereal but fm radio is still common in cars
no idea how Headstrong got so much radio play, but holy shit my local station would never stop playing it.
Green day : nO aUtOtUnE, nO rAp, 100% roCk
Also Green day: oh yeah oh yeah we sound like a nickelodeon Theme song
That’s an insult to Nickelodeon theme songs
The song's actually pretty good, not everything needs to be heavy, rough shit.
No joke, I actually heard that song in a T-Mobile commercial the other day.
Wil Hathaway That’s still rock
it sounds more like Teen Movie Trailer music
I actually liked "Headstrong" when it was first released. It just got overplayed. "She Hates Me" is also a guilty pleasure. The lyrics are stupid but it was catchy. I agree about the rest.
Unfortunately that and Chris T. Brown's Twitter tirades are the only things they'll be remembered for.
I liked Blurry when it first came out too. Not ashamed! I've heard terrible things about POMs live shows but I've never been myself. I don't know enough about them to understand why they get so much hate. I've only ever heard 3 or 4 songs of theirs.
Hey I gotta say, Puddle of Mud did the song Blurry, and whatever you think of POM, blurry is a legit good song, with it's own sound, and a touching and vicious theme to it, I dont know how anyone could not be touched in one way or another by that song. but yeah their fucking Nirvana wanna be singer who shoots guns off his roof towards his neighbors wishes he was Kurt Cobain
Agree with every word of this.
I would agree but his vocals just make my ears hurt. His voice sounds like a clogged nasel cavity that's throwing up in it's own mouth.
"Thunder" by Imagine Dragons. That's all I can think.. not even Believer.. just "Thunder".
Oh i hate that song. I love believer and more but thunder... nope
As much as I agree that thunder was a mistake, imagine dragons isn’t even a rock band, never was. Thunder especially can’t even be passed as a rock song, it’s pure terrible pop. So it wouldn’t have made the list
Just Imagine Dragons
Speaking of... Have a Thunder Parody video. A bunch of kids I know thought it was funny, for a hot minute. ruclips.net/video/1ZxkRzZhZDY/видео.html
Hard rock. Rock up your ass, all day long. Rock n fucking roll.
Up next we have Imagine Dragons and Twentyonepilots
We had plenty of great rock in 2003. Deftones's self titled, Linkin Park's Meteora, A Perfect Circle's Thirteenth Step, Motograter's self titled (this was back when Ivan Moody still gave a crap), Mushroomhead's XIII, and Finger Eleven's self titled (Good Times and Stay in Shadow are amazing songs). But above all of that great music, what was the most successful of all? A guy going, "BURR DURRRRRRR BUDUR BERRRRDERRRRR HERRSTERRRRRR BUDUR BURRRRRRR DURBADUR"
That's the best thing I've ever read. It gets better if you say it out loud. Try it. You'll thank me.
Don’t forget that it was the most popular song of the noughties on the Alternative Songs chart. That happened. We let it happen.
Trevas Elliott There's also Take a Look in the Mirror from Korn, Leave a Whisper from Shinedown, and Three Days Grace's self-titled album.
@@GetYourChicken17 And to keep this list going:
"Deja Entendu" by Brand New
"Collide" by Skillet
"Fallen" by Evanescence
"Absolution" by Muse
"Hail to the Thief" by Radiohead
And Blink-182's self-titled album.
And that's just a few select albums off the top of my head.
Also, De-Loused in the Comatorium (The Mars Volta), Sing the Sorrow (A.F.I.), Audioslave (Audioslave), Elephant (The White Stripes)... there really wasn't a shortage of good rock albums in 2003.

My favorite comment of anything anywhere in 2020
GO AWAYYYYY STAY AWAYYYY
The 'yeah, oh yeah' bit originally came from Gary Glitter's 'Do you wanna touch me', which makes it extremely creepy if you know about Gary Glitter.
OMFG!! Thanks for reminding me that GG ever existed. *shivers of revulsion course up and down my spine* Blech!!
I knew it was Glitter it reminded me of and if you see my comment, I decided on the wrong song. I had Hello Hello It's Good to be Back in my head.
It was the Joan Jett cover and Green Day donate their royalties from the track to International Justice Mission and Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN). So thats good news.
He's interested in teenage girls, what a creep
Please don't remind us!
Honestly, I agree with almost all of this list. But secretly I still love Photograph by Nickelback.
I'm a sucker for nostalgia songs. Ones that make you look back and reflect on your youth.
Oh God, I hope I'm just saying this in my head and not writing it in public. 😔
Agree, Photograph it’s not terrible, I don’t think it should be in this list, it’s a nostalgic song
There isn't a word to describe how bad that song is.
@@eunuchprovocateur4734 lol found the guy who has to point out that he hates nickelback more than anyone else. Super hipster is here.
@@justinphillips8282 I never said I hate them more than anyone else. There are talented musicians in the band. But put them together, and they put out terrible music. Just because I don't think of Photograph as a nostalgia song, I'm a hipster? You sound like an idiot. But hey, at least I found the guy who goes around saying "I found the guy" in every thread.
As much as I hate Nickelback I do enjoy Photograph.
TIL that the singer of Tr*pt is called Chris Brown.
Maybe people with that name should just avoid making music in general.
Yeah Chris Brown is a cursed name in music. Chris Brown the pop star abuses women and Chris Brown the failed rock star is a true patriot which I prefer him even though headstrong is overplayed.
Let's take a step back and realize "Headstrong" was the #1 Billboard Alternative song of the ENTIRE DECADE. Yes, it beat out Linkin Park's "In the End"
*and like that, my sanetiy is gone*
To be fair, I love both songs, but Headstrong over In The End? That’s sinful
But the thing is, is that Linkin park was bigger than Trapt and remained bigger than Trapt even after Chester's tragic death.
If you can find the song before they redid it. It was heavier. Still crap but heavier
What?!?!?
I wish I could go back to 10 minutes ago when I didn't know what the lyrics to Pink were about. I really hadn't given it much thought previously.
Some of these songs actually helped me get through a time when I was forced to confront the ways my extremely low self-esteem was keeping me in an emotionally abusive relationship, so I'll always have a fondness for them.
Honestly, I think the song Rx is decent for what it is. It's not a great song, but I think it perfectly represents 2020, and it accurately depicts what most people were thinking at the time. That's how I view Theory; they don't make deep songs, just songs about general thoughts that run through your head.
Honestly yeah
I agree with you for the most part, except Rx (Medicate) came out in 2017. They released History of Violence in 2020, which was fucking terrible. I am as a diehard of a Theory fan as anyone, but that whole album sucked ass! At least they got back on track with their new album.
As much as I want to agree with you on Puddle of Mudd, Blurry is just too good a song for me to hate them that much
It's a nice simple song I like it too.
Yeah, I don’t like puddle, but blurry is a great emotional song.
Control and psycho are really good too
@@cognitivedissident2881 The harmonics are what really make it for me though and they're deceptively complex
Shaun Feldman I read in an article that the harmonics melody was actually written on a bass and transferred to guitar because it was so cool. I enjoy this song and still listen to it once in awhile. Way better than She hates me.
Anyone else want to see top 10 best songs to NOT make #1?
The list would be endless tho
The Beatles had songs at number one for so long that edged out so many other songs that made it to number two that would have made number one if the Beatles weren’t the Beatles that it’s crazy. Howard Stern did a segment on this once, and it’s actually mind blowing if you look into it.
Like anything by Bob Seeger
but make it only from the bands in this list
Creedence Clearwater Revival never got a #1 hit song. Any of their singles could fit into a list like that very comfortably.
Green Day really peaked with American Idiot (after a big lull). Uno, Dos, Tres took a while for me to get in to, and they are great albums that need some time to grow on you, but the last 2 albums, meh!
I'm a lifelong, die hard "green day" fan, and I agree, "FOAM", was a weak. Album, but not terrible, "oh,yeah", wasn't great, "sugar youth" was a better song on the album, that deserves attention..
I like Oh Yeah! but FOAM has the worst choice of singles of any Green Day album
I enjoyed "She Hates Me". I thought it was a fun dumb song, and it does capture the feeling we all get after our first teenage breakup.
Agreed
Yeah, it and a couple others of these are kinda guilty pleasure type songs. They’re douchey but also catchy.
A friend of mine LOVED that fucking song. He played it on repeat all day for weeks or months. He would load it onto my pc and play it at my house(used winamp and a huge library of music back in the day and had a sweet set of speakers hooked). on repeat. in my home. If he was around i couldnt escape that godamn track. I had to lock my pc after deleting this garbage constantly. After that i couldnt stand the track but then i had the misfortune of seeing them live at a local fest a few years later that had a decent linup otherwise. They didnt sound good live and then they went into a terrible grease medley and that sealed it for me
Yeh. I was 13 when it came out. It is a fun song
He was right about Puddle of Mudd fans being such defenders of the band. I was at a bar in college when "Blurry" came on the juke box. I turned to my buddies and groaned, saying something about how this song was terrible and they were no-talent hacks. Some Karen overheard me and got in my face and yelled "he wrote this song about his daughter!". I told her it doesn't mean I have to like the crappy song. She promptly threw a drink in my face.
Godsmack: /writes song bitching about Motley Crue bitching.
Motley Crue: "What's a Godsmack?"
Godsmack: uhh we got it from an Alice in Chains song dude but we don't like to tell the public.
You should look for the clip where Nikki Sixx explains to Ozzy and Rob Halford why Sully wrote this song. The look on their fucking faces is priceless. 🤣
After this song was released, Nikki found out that Godsmack was in the building while Sixx was broadcasting on his show Sixx Sense and invited them to an impromptu interview.
They declined. Boo-hoo.
@@ericphoenixg real fans know, and respect the fact that they would pay respect to AIC by using it
"Who's Godsmack?" Is more accurate.
Godsmack is the band with 10x the amount of #1 songs that Crue has.
Ohh wow! What a beautiful combination! Thank you
Ouch! My poor ears!
Had a boss that jammed most of the tunes from both lists, ON REPEAT! The radio broke about 2 weeks in. There may have been a forklift involved in its destruction
I didn't know bradley cooper had a RUclips channel, damn he's so versatile
Chris Taylor Brown defending a women? LOL! Not in this timeline.
Too busy deep throating Trump
The Chris Browns should collab on a track. I'd never listen to it, I just want that particular Golden Apple to exist and roll down the shithill that is our lives😏
More like Chris pansy brown
Your imitation of Goddmack was hilarious!! You get a thumbs up just for that. I gotta agree with all 10 choices. To me, the most shocking thing was that some of these some were #1 for multiple weeks instead of just one week. That blew my mind. Great countdown. Thanks and keep smiling🤘🙂
She hates me is the absolute worst. I once kicked my brothers pickup stereo from the back seat because he wouldnt change the station. Busted the face plate. He learned the hard way!
“Theory sound like nickleback lite, and honestly, nickleback doesn’t deserve that.”....ouch! 😅😅😅
Theory of a Deadman, AKA: Theory of a Three Doors NickleFault
The moral of this video: If your band gets discovered by Fred Durst or Chad Kroeger, burn all of your musical equipment and never speak of it again.
Puddle of Mudd ended up sucking after their debut, Staind wasn’t too bad after BTC but they were lost on their heaviness. And really that’s the only bands I know durst found. So you may have a point. But durst at least let them do their thing, Theory was deadass Nickleback2: electric boogaloo
Cold is one of the better Durst-supported bands out there. (and the lead singer is Professor X, no doubt about it)
Moral of the video is find a better class of music and stop listening to bands that all sound alike.
Staind got found by Fred durst and they rock
Limp bizkit is doing this with underground rappers now lol
When I was born "In The Year 2525" was #1. No terrible #1 songs can ever beat that.
Still looks like a masterpiece compared to Crying Like a Bitch. My Sharona was #1 when I was born, damnit.
"2525" would have at least been an alright song, had it not overstayed its welcome- but they kept prattling on and on and it just got tedious to listen to.
i've never heard Wes Scantlin's vocals described as "a giant nose" but i love it. it's so true too. when i think of Wes Scantlin's vocals, i just think of a nose in the midst of a cold. it's part stuffy, part runny, it sounds phlegmy and just makes you wanna protect yourself in a fort of Kleenex.
I bet we’ll over 50% of rock singers have nasal voices. As a matter of fact, some do pretty well, ask Rush and the Scorpions and although I am not a fan of his, Bob Dylan seemed to do all right with the most nasal tone I have ever heard.
He was always trying to sound exactly like Kurt Cobain throughout his entire career. Nirvana and Alice In Chains were Puddle Of Mudd's biggest influences.
@@christopherregan1654 Wes Scantlin was just a wannabe Kurt Cobain. The problem? He has no talent.
Trapt's frontman is such a giant crybaby. I'm still shocked he's still throwing temper tantrums on Twitter.
He's just being desperate at this point and doesn't want to accept that his band isn't relevant anymore.
Zane Kriglowitz right on dude. This is fucking ridiculous.
Ice T murdered them so badly I'm shocked they still have the audacity to whine about anything.

Gotta love how Billie Joe’s reaction to some asshole hitting him with his car is to stand up, passively scold the driver, hit the hood of his car, and then walk off in a random direction singing, “I’m in a crowd full of angels and demons” while people awkwardly stare at him.
Obviously didn’t hit him hard enough.
That is the most Billie Joe reaction ever.
Clearly concussed after the hit

“The 2001 septic tank Come Clean.” You sir, are a poet.

Devon Sterling by that logic should they also arrest the person who made the cover to Nirvana’s Nevermind?
Come Clean was probably their only decent album tbh. Wes wasn’t gonna last long.
Tbh I liked Come Clean. But I still see why others can't stand it.
Wow... I turned my phone off while I walked to the bathroom and when I turned it back on I happened to read your comment. Guess what the first sentence was when I hit play directly after...
Medicate - Is literally a song that makes me laugh Every Damn Time. The “Your girlfriends high right now” “texting ex’s, Netflix Chill” … Every strung out junkies anthem.
Man after hearing all these crap songs I got to listen to 2 hours of Pantera to cleanse my musical soul.
Bless you, my good man.
Pantera sucks
The moment "headstrong" Was mentioned I had flashbacks to being a depressed 13 year old who heavily denied being depressed by using this song as a reason why they weren't depressed.
Trapt is better known for picking a fight with Ice T on Twitter.
And literally everyone else.
I feel like Godsmack all started when the band got together for their first rehearsal and played Walk by Pantera and they just said, "Hey that sounded ok, we could make a few albums just like that right?"
"She Hates Me" is probably the best song on this list by a long shot.
I've read the full lyrics to photograph. I enjoy the song. Made me nostalgic for my younger years.
That's one of the reasons it sucks. A shallow play on emotions. Not about quality at all. Like most country music
Me too.
Fact: I watched a teen female band play an uncensored cover of She Hates Me at a German high school end of year fest way back when. That almost made the existence of the song acceptable.
Thank you for the #1 call out. Back when that was on the radio, it was the only time that I had to flip away from the local rock station (KISW), other than commercials.
Hey.... I love "Pink" and "Photograph" ... one of My first rock records and first Aerosmith album is 'nine lives' which I bought in 2000... That Nickelback song makes me miss my highschool mates in 2009.. i have special bond with that
Did you grow up in rural Midwest without internet? Dam son.....
If a bad song hits home for a lot of people it will hit number one. A few of these songs made me feel like I was n a better place. That will make a bad song seem great, even if it sux.
Those live clips of Trapt are something else, every band member except Chris Brown look like they want to leave as soon as possible.
Don’t blame Canada , they also gave us the Tragically Hip, Rush and Neil Young . 3 anti cheese artists.
Also leanord cohen and jeff healey.. but they dont even come close to making up for Avril Levine, Celine Dion,, Bryan Adams,, theory of a dead man,, nickelback,,Justin beiber,, micheal buble,, Shania twain and Shawn Mendes... someone should build a wall.
Also Devin Townsend, the mind behind the terrifying Strapping young lad😂😂😂😂

@@andreascikota6188 ouch, strange assessment.to each their own but they’re definitely not bubblegum.
I'm in the Way Back Machine so I have to make mention of Paper Lace and their wretched song "The Night Chicago Died," from 1974. I dare you to find a more mawkish, syrupy, cloying song in the annals of #1 hits. Just to top it off, they are also responsible for "Billy Don't Be a Hero," which they also wrote in '74 and wisely handed off to "Bo Donaldson and The Heywoods." I am still not sure how I managed to survive through that muck and, with FM radio just rising, I assure you that I had my fill and then some!
On a different note, I just came across your channel and am enjoying it. Just watched your "One Album Wonders" clip and it was excellent! You focus more on 21st century music and that's understandable, given your age and likely your tastes. It's all good. Am about to subscribe! I run an FB themed music group for 20th century music that requires background on any song/artist posted and you have helped me imagine possible upcoming themes. Thanks!
The fact that The Good Place used “She Hates Me” as a song used in Hell for torture methods shows the writers knew it was the only good time to use that song in the last decade.
dc8rdecoded that’s cause Michael Schur is a comedic genius. I’m glad someone else was thinking of this lol.
I disagree about headstrong being a bad song. It was overplayed and not the greatest but it's good.
Not the worst song, nowhere near the best either.
The song is pretty good. And that's coming from a guy who knows why other people think the song is terrible.
Headstrong is one of the best workout/ hype songs ever. I never understood the hate this song got.
Talk about over played i used to love the eagles but they was played so much i want to throw up on them
Same, it's definitely not the best song, but it's not that bad of a song, I quite like it.
Thanx for posting, Bro🙏

Thank you so freaking much for mentioning that Puddle Of Crud I mean Mud ripped off Suicidal Tendencies. No joke I was literally in the process of bringing it up & then outta nowhere! Thank you sir, thank you. Cheers.
Sick pfp my man
At least Chad Kroeger admits he aims for 'lowest common denominator' rock. Heck, he pretty much made a song about just that: "Rock Star" (off the same album as "Photograph").
It's the age old conundrum with Art in general. Do you want to make money while you are alive or dead? I don't have a problem with people choosing to make money while they are alive as long as they are up front with it.
I checked every Godsmack's lyrincs, I wanted to see how many songs contain "keep/go/far away". So let's see...
Voodoo (CHORUS "I'm not the one who's so far way"), Stress ("get away"), Get up get out (CHORUS "gotta go away"), Bad religion ("now go away"), Keep Away (CHORUS "Stay/keep away from me"), Whatever (CHORUS "now go away"), Moon baby ("far away"), Spiral (CHORUS "I will fly away again"), Forgive me (CHORUS "to breathe with you too far away."), Trippin (CHORUS "Too far away"), Greed ("You gotta get him away"), I stand alone ("you run away"), Changes (CHORUS "I'm moving back onto my ways"), Every part of me("When you're so far away"), Lock and Loaded ("don't run away")
We can see that there are 15 songs and only 8 chorus that are actually concerned. Godsmack played 77 songs. We can conclude that their reputation to always put "keep/go/far away" in thei songs is false.
But why this reputation ? I think that is because their first albums was very popular and 11 songs of this list are from their two first albums. But the fact is that the band evolved (like everything).
To conclude I wanted to say that Godsmack is nos a band that you hear for listen skilled guitarists but for an excellent rythmic, the voice of Sully and Shannon Larkin on drums ;)
Godsmack absolutely sucks. Jmo
@@PuddleOfPizza Faceless is such a great album
@@joshuagibson2520 Have you seen them Live and watched the Batalla de Los Tambores? Sully is every bit as good a drummer as Larkin. They are still the best show I've ever seen.

Puddle Of Pizza What a funny story.
If there is any way you can upload the og video, i loved your take on Like a Rock

"Best Of Butt-Rock Classics" should be a compilation CD.
And it should include Big Dumb Sex, just to annoy would-be smartypants grunge fans.
I felt sure "We Built This City on Rock and Roll" would have moved up to its rightful position at #1. Imagine my surprise to find it not on the list at all! :O
Thank you¡!
We Built This City is Bohemian Rhapsody nearby Rx Medicate lol
TJM060765 That’s not a worst #1 song. It’s the worst song ever.
I agree 100% , but it wasn't classified as rock so that's why it's not on the worst rock songs.
Easily worst song of all time.
Now I know why I stopped listening to Top 40 radio back in 2004!
I usually don't comment on RUclips videos, but I gotta hand it to you bro, you NAILED it!! I almost had to cut this video short because all these songs are THAT HORRIBLE!! HAHA!! Good job!
Fun fact, Aaron Lewis created that song on the spot during the live concert. He only had the chorus written and filled in the blanks from there.
...according to him. There's also a RUclips video where he talked about playing Outside and It's Been Awhile in clubs three years before Staind formed and nobody cared about either song. So he was playing an unfinished song in clubs 5 years before making it up in that concert? Yeah right. That song was written before he ever started Staind.
Someone is saying that those songs were stolen.
Just saying
@@BCTTV_DTJ it’s been a while I heard him mention playing at clubs and know one was interested, outside I didn’t 🤔 you post that video. I’ll try and find it myself. Fred heard him goofing around playing chorus of outside and that’s it. Those chords are easy. He could’ve been playing a similar type song with different words. The song outside was basically Fred saying “I like that, do it tonight” All Aaron had was the chorus and nothing else to fit. He went with his gut, probably tried similar before and changed words as he went. I’m betting it wasn’t the same as clubs before that night.
Can’t believe I didn’t catch how “Pink” fits the album “Nine Lives” since it’s about p***y.
I remember loving headstrong. I used to scream along to it. Excellent at getting out teenage angst
That's why I loved it!! Ty!
That was my #1 fav song of ‘03 !
It has the shelf life of a singular teenage hissy fit, and then you grow up and realize that it's the buttest of all buttrock.
@@WilDBeestMF EXACTLY! that's it's entire worth as a song lol.
A guilty pleasure. I like Photograph by Nickelback.
Same. The lyrics are cheesy and pretty corny but it’s got a nice flow to it and the music is quite pleasant.
Me too! Makes me think of friends that have passed away. And in a good way.
My guilty pleasure is that I like Nickelback in general
"Why, oh why does god hate me"
God: OH MY GOD MAKE IT STOP!!! MY EARS!! STOP!!!
God: "Because you make awful music."
That comment made me think of a far better (but sad) song by Rise Against.
Well, hopefully they dont make a new song this year and call themselves RISE with a phoned in pop sounding electronic/dubstep song.
Nice profile pic! i love rhcp
@@cecilm6945 eeeeeee! Thank you! Finally someone says something 😄
I've never liked Theory of a Dead Man. The singer can't sing, and most of their songs sound the same. Having similar sounding songs would be tolerable if they were good, but we know they're crap.
Ever notice how 'She Hates Me' sounds quite a bit like that 'Tell Me More' song from Grease?
Lol I used to love She Hates Me earlier in the 2010s when I heard it for the first time because this girl I had a crush on moved. Whenever I tried to contact her, she would never answer. When she finally did, she acted like she never wanted to talk to me. This song provided clarity but looking back, I was dumb for being clingy and I now see how bad this song is.
Summer Nights
It's a rip off of it puddle of mudd admitted it
I fucking love medicate by theory lmao. Its really the only song i love on this list
Thank you!! There's literally No reason someone could hate that song. Unless you're a pill popper yourself
@@briceeaton7884 don’t listen to them and don’t plan on listening to them
Me to!!
Outside is NOT a bad song. There are countless other songs that should take its place on this list
Don't blame Canada, they gave us Rush
She Hates Me by Puddle Of Mudd has the same vocal melody as Summer Lovin’ from Grease ;)
No, you will never not notice that again.
Jesus christ, you figured it out! I knew it sounded familiar but couldn't place it... hated the song and the band, but now it somehow makes both worse!
I hate you lol
So does What Makes You Beautiful by 1 Direction
It also sounds like Never Let You Go by 3rd Eye Blind
@@prometheustv6558 Dang... Puddle of Mudd ripped of One Direction. Do they have any shame?
“Aerosmith bunted & still got a hit “ is a good line.
Bunts in baseball have a 70-80% success rate… and then they are counted as a hit. So I don’t think the comment made the point he wanted it to.
@@joeshaw1577 Lol. was about to say it's a moronic line if you know jack about baseball and what a "hit" is. You beat me to it, you beautiful bastard!🤣
When I started this video I was like, "if nicckelback isn't on this list, the list is invalid."
I'm glad we all agree on something.
Nickelback is America's punishment for ignoring The Tragically Hip.
That's actually brilliant.
Preach Brother
Nickelback is a Canadian band.
@@yankees29 You obviously didnt get the joke.
I'd actually forgot about theory of a deadman....now I see why
I agree with every single entry. Subscribed. Love.
Love how for Puddle of Mud they show a clip of their live version of nirvana.....I am surprised that footage has not been permanently removed from RUclips
When it comes to the worst on a list. Taylor Swift owns the top 5.
Agreed
She's not rock though most pop music sucks.
@@davidshumski4629 its not the style that annoys me, its the break up songs, the girl power songs, just in general make everyone dislike each other music
@@victorysaber1608 for instance on pop radio you can hear Aerosmith Pink, big 10 inch record, Jamie got a gun. You would never know they had any thing good
Most of these do sound bad. Though Headstrong is something I want to call a guilty pleasure but I can agree with the rest of the picks.
It's probably on here because of the vocalist's Twitter meltdowns lol.
So you are one of the guys who listen to them on Pandora!!!! 🤣
I had to hear that song every fuckin day at this Kickboxing place back in middle school. It didn't help how that song was followed up by Papa Roach and plenty of terrible nu metal.
If you haven't, check out Psychostick's '#1 Radio $ingle'. It absolutely DESTROYS the 2000s garbage radio rock. It's fucking FANTASTIC. Btw, holy crap. I forgot that Trapt even existed, so...thanks for bringing that nightmare back to me. Even as a teenager I HATED that song. Barf, dude. I also agree that the studio version of Outside was good. I really liked that whole album.
Thanks for mentioning the whole suicidal tendencies theft, I decided to sub after that :)
My biggest Godsmack phase was when I was at my limit with my ex husband. As soon as I divorced him I lost interest in the band. I never really knew why until you just pointed out that most of their music was about wanting someone to go away. Makes sense. I outgrew it.
Voodoo is probably their best song next to the song Greed
@@arcticwolf8150 Voodoo is their best song... probably because it sounds like Alice in Chains.
@@stephaniehammond4425 Not to me it's one of their most unique songs
I’m surprised With Arms Wide Open by Creed didn’t make the list.
Well that's because it wasn't a bad song.
@PrometheusTV So am I, I was betting it would be #1 on this list.
Creed was discounted in his opening statements...
Noble 6 Well he’s bashed that song before so I thought it would be on the list.
Justin Miller How was it discounted.
My 21 year old son texted me one day - unsolicited - that he hates the lack of musicianship, songwriting, variety and overall quality of the music he is supposed to be into at his age right now. So after work we split a pizza and a six pack and I played Yes's "Gates Of Delirium. He LOVED LOVED LOVED it!! He could discern and appreciate the sections and feel their meanings (the cautious bragadoccio of the pre-war opening, the confusing and violent battles in the middle section, and the calm but deep sorrow of the aftermath). He hates the lack of musicianship, songwriting, variety and overall quality of the stuff he is "supposed" to be into at his age right now. You got one proud classic rock papa right here!
Have him listen to King Crimson, Jethro Tull and Gabriel era Genesis then.
@@billpemberton3982 Thanks Bill!
Godsmack aren't the only ones who've written a song about a Motley Crue member- Steven Tyler was in a bar with bandmates and they see this blonde chick at the bar. She tyurns around and it's Vince Neil! Hence "Dude Looks Like a Lady"
Look at this GRAPH...
Mother of god does Tyler Connelly look like Pat Monahan and Adam Levine's abandoned son in the live footage. That explains why Theory sucks more than Train and Maroon 5 combined.
I LOVE Sham pain, medicate, and photograph and Im not afraid to say that.
I like Sham Pain too. Photograph is actually one Nickelback song I do find rather catchy. But I will attest that the lyrics to that song, like many of their others, are just rather silly and hard to take seriously lol.
There’s only two Theory (of a Dead Man) songs that I like…..Slow Burn which was my jam back in the MySpace days and RX Medicate - but only because as someone who is pretty heavily medicated for mental health issues I can relate to the general tone of the song.
Edit: I make this mistake every time I think about the band but Revelation Theory is not related to Theory of a Deadman….so I only like one of their songs
I saw Puddle of Mudd live actually at Vette City, and Trapt and Saving Abel outperformed them. I was about 5-10 feet away from Wes Scantlin. Which in a perfect world would be great, except it’s Puddle of Mudd and Wes practically sang out of his nose for over an hour. I never wanted to get out of a pit faster in my life
I agree with this list! I think what amplified the terrible-ness for many of these songs was the number of times radio stations would play them. "Headstrong" was WAAAAAY overplayed on the radio. I remember switching to two or three different stations and it was playing on all of them 😭
That song really got ran into the ground so hard from all the excessive overexposure. If equal attention had been given to that and some of Trapt's other songs like Still Frame, Echo, These Walls, Made Of Glass, Stand Up and Waiting, they probably would've had more overall success in the long run.
Loving your videos man. Keep up the good work!
