Bro that Kittie take is blasphemy...Poppy is great and all, but not ANYWHERE on their level, her version sounds like a drum and bass cover with some guitar sprinkled in. Kittie sounds like the meme of the girl watching a house burn down, but metal af...what are you smoking because I need some bro
Update: six feet under have 3 cover albums with a 4th on the way. I’m not joking.
Finn, you could do an entire video with just "Deftones - B sides and rarities" and another one with "Between the buried and me - the anatomy of"
There will never be anything funnier to me than MGK having an emo phase at the age of 30
He’s in his 30s???
@@Ramanahayes 33 as of this year
How about Jared Leto in mid 30’s
That sounds even more cringe written out lol
Bryan Stars emo selfies makes MGK look like a genius
Saw LB with Korn before 3 dollar came out and to be honest...faith was totally insane to hear live. I had to get their tape mailed to me. I'm old af.
I didn’t know Cinnamon Girl was a cover until years later either. Neil Young’s version is fantastic, super cool vibe. Type O did a killer job turning it into a different song that’s equally as good.
You should do a whole Misfits cover tier list. Literally every punk band has covered them so it could be a whole a series.
AFI, Aiden, Goldfinger, Avenged Sevenfold, Green Day, Alkaline Trio, Dropkick Murphy's, Sum 41, Bethemath and even Buck O Nine have all done Misfits covers. And that's just scratching the surface.
You just mentioning Aiden made my day, thank you. Their cover of white wedding is also amazing.
(sincerely, an emo who didn't have friends that knew any of my music)
The NOFX cover of "Last Caress" is GREAT 😂
@@benamisai-kham5892 Agreed. Aiden rocks. I've seen them and William Control many times. It sucks that Will is done playing shows though. But atleast he still releases music once in a while.
The Lemonheads cover of Skulls is pretty rad too
Another great cover, not metal but a fantastic cover nonetheless, is Sublime's cover of The Descendants 'Hope'
Body count’s cover of reign in blood is an awesome slayer cover
Edit: and Ice T’s cover of institutionalized was also awesome
We got so many nu metal bands covering 80s one hit wonders, but never any 80s one hit wonders covering nu metal. I need Dexy's Midnight Runners covering "Nookie." We all need that.
If I ever heard Flock of Seagulls cover Static-X I would die a happy man.
Give Kevin Rowland half a chance and he just might. He's all about the weird and different.
Faith is S tier.
Preach
Classic
Wishlist for next time:
Fear Factory - Cars (Gary Numan)
Fear Factory - Your Mistake (Agnostic Front?)
Mushroomhead - Crazy (Seal)
That period where industrial/nu-metal bands covered 80's and new wave songs: Blue Monday by Orgy, Dope doing Spin Me Right Round, Coal Chamber with Shock the Monkey, Deadsy and Tom Sawyer, etc.
Didn't dope do fuck the police? That shit was badass
Glad to see I'm not the only one that remembers Dope and their fantastic cover. It was so fun.
ABR opened one of their recent tours with Chop Suey on the PA, as if the venue was playing it just cause. Then the band comes out mid song and goes right into their cover.
Coolest fucking opener to any show I've been to in a long long time.
Wolves at the Gate is dropping a cover album with sick metalcore covers of Incubus, 30 Seconds to Mars, Linkin Park, 21 Pilots, Deftones and more. They're seriously great covers. Heathens, Breaking the Habit, and Pardon Me are all on RUclips and they're so good. Peeps need to check them out!
Super glad you like the Orgy cover. Was gonna flip a lid of not 😂😂 Candyass is a super interesting and progressive album as far as nu metal goes as well.
Hey Finn, have some suggestions for a next part of this video.
-Any song from Undisputed Attitude by Slayer
-Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm
-Sweet Dreams or Tainted Love by Marilyn Manson
-American Woman by An*l C*nt
-Sad but True by Royal Blood
Trivium's cover of Slave New World is pretty rad! These are all super valid takes :)
For the next one of these you should do a Foo Fighters cover. They have so many that they put their stamp on like Darling Nikki, Baker Street, Band on the Run, Down in the Park, Have A Cigar, I Feel Free, etc
Six Feet Under is a band I genuinely cant help but start laughing when I hear them.
Lol?!!!!!!!!! Eeeeeeeeee
Agreed with Matt Greiner being one of the best drummers around today. Such a great and genuine guy too
Orgy's Blue Monday is the best cover I have ever heard. They took a good original song (New Order isn't for everyone haha), kept the heart of it but slapped it with their soul! They made it better! Orgy's cover of that song and Nine Inch Nails cover of "Dead Souls" by Joy Division (fun fact, Joy Division is New Order) are the two covers, in my opinion, who did it better than the original.
Finn shouting out Orgy and Poppy? Lets Go!
That Orgy song was number 1 on TRL for a long ass time in the 90s.
I watched a system of a down cover band called Chop Suey play recently in the UK. Their bassist was Sam Totman from Dragonforce.
Love the love for Orgy. Their first three albums are awesome.
The person who’s favorite album is graveyard classics 1 lives in a house boat, has one eye and eats cereal on sundays. Has one hand the other is a hook basically he wants to be a pirate but really is a janitor at Subway
A cover that I personally adore is Non Serviam from Moonsorrow, to me its better than the original from Rotting Christ, they definitely made it their own
The best A7X cover is Wish You Were Here which I think was released on "The Stage" deluxe edition or something. Also unrelated but Post's country covers are all S tier and i think hes doing Stagecoach this year LMAO
Honestly you should cover the Dream Theater cover of the whole Number Of The Beast album
Finn you are absolutely on fire in this video. Genuinely made me laugh out loud when I least expected.
“He looks like a goddamn blowup doll!”
“He saw the foot and he took it”
Fuck lol
I loved the Limp Bizkit cover of Metallica's Welcome Home.
S: Metallica, Limp bizkit
A: Avenged sevenfold
B: Type o, August Burns Red
C: MGK, orgy
F: poppy, six feet under
When in my country we had a competition in which the winner would be picked as a singer/band who would go to Eurovision one of the bands was a copy of MGK. I don't know why they did that because I know the vocalist from a different band and dude is alright singer but for some reason he thought that creating a band that imitates MGK and Travis Barker was a good idea. The band did not even pass preliminaries. They played once and then disbanded.
Check out Obituary's version of Circle of the Tyrants. Or Dark Angel's Immigrant Song
i’m ok with you putting that cover by limp bizkit where it went but you should have heard their cover of sanitarium by metallica. it was insanely great. 😊
We need more content with Finn dunking on chris barnes and six feet under
6:40 first heard this on the family values album. Fun song.
Lol and the next one!
Before the red hat will be the title of Limp Biscuits band documentary
A cover I'd heard a million times before learning it was a cover was Born to Die by Amity Affliction. Still think it's one of the best covers that I can think of.
I love Six Feet Under. The last album (2020) just hurts! It makes my heart bleed.
I would like to know where do you rate, Tool’s version of No Quarter by Led Zeppelin
Very cool idea by the way, keep doing what you are doing, it is very entertaining. 🤟
5:58 They ran through all the numetal thots and got killer make up tips from them. It was a cycle of success that just worked for them.
Gotta agree... Manson Sweet Dreams???🤔
Check out Deathcrush by Murdered. Interesting cover of Mayhem.
From Ashes to New did pretty solid cover of A7X Nightmare
It will never fail to infuriate and confuse me when Finn doesn’t put himself in the same category as a lot of the “hot guys” he mentions! Bro, you are absolutely good looking! How do you not see that 🙈
The thing about the ABR cover that you’d respect more is if you knew the story behind it.
For about a decade now, chop was the last song played on the DJ list before ABR took the stage. It’s because the first tour they tried doing it, the crowds would go just as hard for the song playing over the PA as we would for their actual set.
ABR took notice. Apart of me thinks they don’t even like the song. They did it for us.
The girls in kitties went to my high-school, granted 8 years prior to me but still pretty cool 😅
Ayeeee I've been pushing this cover onto all of my metalhead friends since they dropped it xD🤘🏾🤘🏾 I too am quite blown away by how good they made it
And yeah Matt Greiner fkn rules dude he's been the drummer-god I've worshipped since 9th grade lol that guys the fkn man, yo
*p.s. You know you hoin' not putting ABR up there in the S slot tho lolol
You insult our heavy lords and saviors
Back in 2006 I saw Trivium and Avenged Sevenfold two days apart. They both did Walk, and I hate to say it but Avenged Sevenfold's rendition was waaaaaaay better.
Love that Blue Monday cover.
Orgy style was so cool in the 90s
I would just like to say that I had multiple Six Feet Under covers on my ipod in 2006.
If you're going to include Type O Negative, then why not use their "Summer Breeze" cover song instead? It slaps.
Have you heard their Highway Star cover?? ITS AMAZING
paranoid ? black sabbath? paranoid is my favorite cover of theirs personally
@@DOWNPOUR_ I haven't heard it. They must've covered it after I got burned out on Type-O. I was pretty much Bloody Kisses and then moved on.
@@JacksContent I haven't heard it. They must've covered it after I got burned out on Type-O. I was pretty much Bloody Kisses and then moved on.
@@pekerhed101 highly suggest you check out their later projects . both october rust , world coming down , and life is killing me are all three amazing albums . their last , dead again is also pretty good , but not near as good as the other last three . highly suggest you check them out man
I spend the full runtime of these videos trying to pick which soundbite is gonna be the closer and Finn surprises me every time.
I'm only halfway through and I'm picking 6 Feet Under TNT
Hell even Pantera is covering Pantera these days.
I recently discovered Type O Negative, they have damn good catchy songs, the voice is unique, the writing is outlandish. Would be very cool to see a solo video on them.
"World Coming Down" is easily in my top 10 albums of all time. 🤘🏽
Faith was the first time I heard anything akin to screaming and that basically changed my life.
Same
I was not a fan of the screaming as a kid but I've grown to appreciate it's satirical spectacle.
Orgy is criminally underrated! Candyass & Vapor Transmission are front to back solid albums. They definitely stood out in the new metal scene. They’re aesthetic, their gear and sound were great!
Punk Statik Paranoia LP was also amazing.
Yes, robur is correct PSP was a great record too.
And, they're back with a new album that is also great! :)
I KNOW they’re great!
Their 5 good songs are classic, the rest.....
Best cover song from a band I’ve heard is My Chem’s Desolation Row cover. It captures the My Chem vibe, but has more of that punk sensibility. Goes hard. It’s both unique from the original and is just a banger. I didn’t even realize it was a cover at first.
I always wished A7X used their own guitar tone for Walk. Would have been ✨ S I C K ✨
Flyleaf did a good NiN cover back in the day. The greatest cover to me will always be Cap'n Jazz 'Take on Me' and I consider A-ha metal since they are from Norway.
The best cover band I've seen is the Linkin Park cover band Hybrid Theory
That's hilarious because Linkin Park went by Hybrid Theory when they first went out on tour.
@@Darrkness Darrkness that's the true it's funny as hell I remember that was one of their names before they settled on Linkin Park but the Electronic group Hybrid threatened them with a lawsuit over the name because it was similar to their group name fast forward to now there's a cover band using that name 😂
@@DarrknessT…That’s probably why they chose that name as a coverband for Linkin Park!
Trivium's cover of Master of Puppets is absolutely fantastic and even sounds better than the original in some places. Their cover of Slave New World by Sepultura is great as well. Their covers are extremely underrated and never get the attention that they deserve.
Their cover of the song Iron Maiden rips too
Yeah hard disagree with the Trivium cover there. It’s ok at best, Matt Heafy sounds like he’s trying to imitate Hetfield too much in his vocals
Type O Negative's best cover is Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath.
Summer breeze is my fav
@@DONNICOMUSICand paranoid
Metallica can be put in the S+ tier again for the Mercyful Fate Medley. 11 Minutes of FIRE
Finn saying “non ironically” 5 times for Orgy like it’s a word is the best part lol
Hey Finn, you keep doing covers of System of a Down, but what about System of a Down's cover of Snowblind by Black Sabbath?! Their version is one of the most different and unique takes when compared to the original!
I also love their cover of Metro. But in fairness, I think that I may have only heard the original Metro once.
The best covers are where they totally rebuild the song but still capture the original spirit of the song. My personal favorite is by a trio of Indian musicians called Beard of Harmony who cover "Right in Two" by Tool on a rooftop. You can hear the ambience of the city and dogs barking the background. The bass player uses a stand-up bass and you can see the strings vibrating due to the frame rate. It gives me chills every time I hear it.
Type O Negative's cover of Paranoid is really good too
Nekrogoblinkon’s cover of Chop Suey! Is great IMO.
Edit - Also I’m upset there’s no mention of the greatest (cover) band in the world, Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies! And yes I know they’re no metal but neither is MGK 🤷♂️
Gotta disagree about Spit, I like Kittie's version better specifically because it's so raw and unrefined. It's as honest an expression of adolescent rage as you'll find in nu metal -a genre literally built on that (and I mean that as a compliment).
Man, we need Ill Nino on these covers lists... Their cover of Faith No More - Zombie Eaters was so dope. While we're here, how about Nonpoint's cover of In The Air Tonight? Stellar cover.
You gotta check out Korns cover of “Would” or “We Car A Lot!” They even remixed Rihanna’s “B**** better have my money”!
Metallica best cover band ever. And thanks to Finn for introducing me to Poppy. She's pretty badass. Next time you do one of the Cover tier-lists, throw some NFG on there. They got 3 cover albums/EPs and some are pretty excellent.
That Poppy cover sounds great. Yet another musician I got into because of PRMBA
I think a great cover has to transform the song, while still landing on something equally as brilliant. The Bauhaus cover of Ziggy Stardust is a perfect example. True covers are fun to hear once, but only once.
A7X Walk was very well done. You’ve got to really know how to play to pull that off
You need to hear Spider God’s Black Renditions. It’s black metal covers of Britney, Christina, Backstreet Boys, Bieber, Twice, Kanye etc. etc.
Such a good album!
It's a long shot, but hoping you'll check out The Kovenant's version of Spaceman by Babylon Zoo, and Khonsu's version of Army of Me by Björk.
Both are very different from the originals.
The latter being even barely recognizable, yet SO good. Super atmospheric.
Oh, and also Imaginary Flying Machines' version of Tonari no Totoro. The theme from the Ghibli movie My Neighbour Totoro.
It's bonkers, and the vocalist is INSANE.
To this day I still blast Blue Monday by Orgy..it’s definitely one of my most favorite covers to listen to.
When I bought the first album of Limp BIzkit and heard Faith..I loved it! I love George Michael and never heard the song covered like that before. Seeing them in concert when they played that song, mosh pits opened up all over! Good fxking times for me.
I love Type o Negative Cinnamon Girl, they also covered Summer Breeze which I love.
Tho not on the list I love Marilyn Manson covering Soft Cell Tainted Love and Metallica covering Tuesday’s Gone by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Cinnamon girl is one of my favorite Neil Young songs. Sounds good live. The cover takes away how dynamic melodic and heavy it is
Mansons covers are pretty sweet, better than probably everything after GAOTG.
Metallica’s cover of whiskey in the jar by Thin Lizzy is excellent!!
Love Orgy's cover of New Order - Blue Monday. For me, it's better than the original too
Type O Covers are great. They always make it their own. I even think their Cover of Black Sabbath (the Song by Black Sabbath) is better than the Original. And Hey Pete (Hey Joe Cover) is also great.
Goddamn Blue Monday is a good song. 1999 was a wild time. You remember when we all just collectively decided everyone should listen to industrial disco metal? What a time to be alive. There was a brief moment when Orgy, Static X, Powerman 5000, Rob Zombie, and Rammstein were all topping the charts at the same time. And I mean TOPPING the charts, like they were the most popular music in the world. Tune into TRL at any given moment and you'd see the beautiful bastards of Orgy or the Static X dude (R.I.P.) with his liberty spiked cylinder hair. So much hair gel. What a time.
I think Wayne used school glue to keep the spike up.
The crazy part of the Chop Suey cover by ABR is that they use that song to warm up.
I think Faith gets a pass due to its cultural timing. No one says its an amazing cover, everyone just loves where they were in life when it came out!🤙🫶
we not gonna talk about Type O- Negative's cover of "Summer Breeze" or the dumpster fire that was Limp Bizkit's cover of "Behind Blue Eyes"???
I literally had my fingers poised over my keyboard after Finn said "A for effort"...but he wisely and hilariously corrected course immediately 🤣😂🤣🤣
What a trip. Glad to see that orgy cover getting some love.
The Poppy "Spit" cover sounds rad, gonna have to check that out.
For AC/DC cover redemption check out Godflesh - For Those About to Rock. Great example of making it their own with full integrity.
My favorite was always It Dies Today's cover of Enjoy the Silence.
And Thrice did a great cover of Carol of the Bells.
Did you hear Breaking Benjamin's cover of Enjoy the Silence? If so what did you think of it?
@@rdp16rulez I'm not a fan of BB but I listened to it twice. It's nice and very well produced for its time. I think it's a little too close to the original DM but... I don't know if that's their style. I dig the howls at the end.
I also didn't know for years that Cinnamon Girl was a cover. I already loved it as a standalone song but it's also a really interesting take on the original.
'You should check out From Ashes To New covering Paramore's 'Decode' or Bad Omens covering Duran Duran's 'Come Undone' ! Very good
Should’ve done Limp Bizkit’s cover of Metallica’s Sanitarium. That shit is actually really good
There is Korn cover band in Brazil, called Freaks.
Hey! Portugal is not weird, it's a great, shockingly underrated country. It actually has the greatest UNESCO site rate per capita. And there are actually 10 million people, not 2.5 million.
I feel like I should cancel you for this, but your content is too great... 😅
august burns red does incredible covers
Favorite cover of all time probably has to be Fear Factory's Cars who they did WITH Gary Numan.
Should have done the cover of chop suey by Nekrogoblikon!!!
And KoRn doing “Wicked” was legitimately impressive af
August Burns Red also did a cover of the Zelda theme song and its epic AF.
Agreed with Orgy! Love them! That cover is amazing, and the rest of the album is killer too.
I used to work with a guy who loves Six Feet Under so I've heard like all 4 volumes of their cover albums lol I will say while they're mostly awful they do have a few bangers
