If Paramore is your "guilty pleasure" ...you should probably question your shameless pleasures, and figure out, whether they are or are not something you should feel guilty about...
I'm a metal head and most of my friends are, I don't feel guilty about that but I do about liking a few Paramore songs Lmao. I think "guilty pleasures" are different for everyone depending on who we hang out with and what kind of music we like. For someone into mainstream pop they might have extreme metal as a "guilty pleasure". I definitely see how a die hard punk fan would personally classify Paramore as a "guilty pleasure", that's not really an insulting statement either it's kinda cringe for Finn to think it is
I think nobody should feel guilty for listening to songs they like. Even when it's something totally different than your usual playlists. It's good to have some variety.
@@dominikaksiazek7177 I agree but I think it's just a harmless saying, it's not like people feel seriously guilty LoL they might be a little embarrassed to admit it but they are actually complimenting it saying "this isn't what I normally like but it's great and I like it anyway"

@@emobassist yeah I can understand that, I'm only like 7 years younger than Finn and people did that when I was young too, I'm sure I was and am still guilty of it myself but more of unfairly judging the music than people who listen to it. I never liked the "core" label and made/make fun of that music sometimes but I'm never being super serious, I like some of those bands. A lot of people when they're young take a hard line stance on their taste in music, it's kinda like one of the first tribal experiences for a lot of people and it can get pretty toxic sometimes. I guess I just see "guilty pleasure" especially in music differently than most? I've always really cherished them, they feel more personal in a way, but I can see how it can definitely be toxic to feel like we have to hide what we like from people.
We need a shirt with you on it saying "Here's the thing....."

"Emergency" from "All we know is falling" was my introduction to Paramore. I was telling everyone who would listen they were gonna be huge. One of the few times I was right.
First song I heard off that album was Pressure and I instantly became a fan
Those 2 songs are amazing "all we know" is weak so was a terrible choice by Finn to showcase the album
Found that on a Warped Tour '06 compilation. Still my favorite Paramore song
That Write Zombie track sounds like me leaning my guitar up against the amp while it cycles through affects and my dog wags his tail against the strings

Godflesh first album Streetclean is a perfect example of a debut that hit hard. No filler. 10/10

All We Know is Falling is my favorite Paramore album. It hits so hard for me for some reason.

Just caught Sum 41 on their farewell tour and it is honestly in my top 3 concerts I’ve been too in the last 20 years. Sad to see them go..
you should tier list sophomore albums. i feel like they're generally more interesting in a meta perspective.
2nd or 3rd albums are mostly the best in a band's discography.
This is the perfect point between youthful roughness and experience/finding your band's identity before starting to repeat yourself or loosing the identity of your band.

@StuartHetzler typically this term is for sports due to the fact that there is higher expectations for someone, and they get more spotlight in a competitive sense, therefore stats will drop.
I don't think it applies to musicians.
Most underrated debut album is Core by Stone Temple Pilots. Everyone focuses on the big 4 of grunge for good reason, that they always forget about the other grunge bands of the time like STP who were also dropping classics.
That's because STP isn't Grunge. They just got lumped in by some people. STP is a straight up Rock band. A great one at that.
How is it underrated? It was a huge album when it came out.

@@BigOwl51 core gets higher reviews now than in the 1990s. It ranked number 11 in a rolling stone article for best 90s album just a couple of years ago.
A 25th anniversary album came out like 5 years ago and went platinum.

The fact that people STILL don't realize that Carnivore and many Type O Negative lyrics are edgy for the sake of being edgy or are outright satire/sarcasm (especially in Carnivore's case) astounds me, especially when in Race War specifically he literally outright "breaks character" and says racism is stupid later in the song
53% of Americans between the ages of 17 and 65 read at a fifth grade level or *lower*. So this does not at all surprise me. Literacy in all media is dependent on understanding concepts, and people are lagging behind in that.
They read it as the break being the character and the rest being sincere because it aligns with their personal beliefs.

I saw Rage in tiny club in Portland back in 92 just before the first album came out … I was lookin for the DJ scratching shit- no one had heard a guitar make noises like that. Band at the top of their game already. I met the guys after + they gave me advance copy of the album. Blew me away + still does. I agree with u on the other annoying stuff but that first record is indeed untouchable!

That RATM debut still sounds fresh today. Like, it could come out right now and feel completely current. Really amazing debut.
One of the greatest bands of all time. 3 albums, all S tier. Completely unique sound at the time that even now sounds ahead of the game.
Imitated by loads of bands basically all of which are complete shit.
An all time great guitarist and frontman in the same band with an incredibly solid rhythm section.

Half hour of power is amazing. It’s probably not the best thing they ever did. But it’s all there, the pop punk choruses, the metal influences, and just sounds like they’re having a good time. It’s definitely better than a lot of later albums but doesn’t get talked about often enough

I completely agree. It is such a good album and it doesn't get talked about enough at all. I think one of the main reasons it gets a little dismissed is because the production on some of the songs isn't quite as crisp as AKNF etc.
Peter steeles sense of humor and sarcasm went over most peoples heads, you could not make jokes that he used to make in interviews like that now these days.
RATM first album is iconic. I never heard that first White Zombie album, it really does sound like 2 songs playing over top of each other. Great video!

Weezer, Third Eye Blind, and Boston are all also S tier debuts in my opinion
yep the Third Eye Blind first album is a classic. I would actually argue the best songs on that album are the non-singles like 'The Background' and 'Motorcycle Drive By' and all of the singles were awesome.

Everytime, it's never the same thing 100% of the time.
Hot Take: The debut album from Catch Your Breath from several months ago is the best debut album since the self-titled debut album from SOAD.

Pressure from Paramore's first album is how I discovered them before Riot was out. I was playing in a band w/ a female singer @ the time and that was one of the songs we covered. I use to make my girlfriend at the time sing it while I played it on acoustic so I took it to our singer Brittany who was actually a big Paramore fan (go figure) and already knew it.

The first Sum 41 album is amazing, and I remember thinking they were gods after seeing the vid for "Makes No Difference" as a teen. They were from about 2.5 hrs away from where I grew up In Canada too (Avril Lavigne was about 1.5 hrs from me), so it was mindblowing to see something so cool from Canadians not from Toronto, Montreal, or Vancouver

As December Falls has one of the best recent debut albums I've ever heard (from 2019). They only had 2 EPs to practice with before recording it. 2 albums later and they've been to #1 in the UK rock chart.
I think Rob zombie said when they started they actually knew nothing about music or even how to play instruments but I can't fully remember, think it was on a rogan podcast
I first heard of Sum 41 on a VHS copy of the Dragonball Z movie “Bardock, The Father Of Goku” and “Makes No Difference” was on the credits.

All We Know is Falling is my favorite Paramore album and Riot is actually my least favorite. One of chatters said All We Know sounds generic but that’s exactly how I feel about Riot. Like most people, Riot was my intro to Paramore. And it was so generic Radio Disney sounding that I wrote them off for years as just a boring chick band. Then I eventually listened to their debut album and my view on them flipped completely
That Sum41 video has very soulful dude bro energy.

As you can tell by my screen name I am a fan of white zombie. Their early stuff is pretty run of the mill noise rock.
Getting J. who was an actual guitar player pushed them into the direction they went into. That is why I hate Rob for how he treated them because Sherri Ono had a problem with the past relationship Rob had with Sean.
Also if you do this one again, Kid Rock and Offspring need to be on it.

Clearly you didn’t research Paramore. Haley had a deal with Atlantic before Paramore formed as a band. When they did as part of her deal, they got Fueled by Ramen to “release” the record so they could start out with some indie cred. Atlantic was funding everything. That’s when FBR became the farm label for the majors.

Paramore’s 1st album is one I still listen to today. I do like 1 song unironically off No Doubt’s 1st album, “let’s get back” it’s pretty good, but I have to be in a mood for it haha

When I was in 8th grade and my friend said he was into Pantera, I thought he was a fuckin' poser because I remembered seing old videos, but I hadn't heard "Cowboys from Hell" ... a few weeks later "Vulgar Display of Power" came out and I was awestruck :p

Sponge 'Rotting Pinata' is a perfect rock debut album that no one knows about which is sad. Blessthefall 'His Last Walk' is a bonafide classic. Of Machines 'As If Everything Was Held In Place' might be the greatest debut of all-time to me.

Maybe the first album by Pantera was really by Panthera. I was thinking it sounded somewhat like Ozzy also. that is minus some great soloing. THE RHCPs sounded like bad Frank Zappa.
