Really sad to see Switchfoot on here, The Beautiful Letdown was such a solid alt pop rock album and one of the very few good things to happen to the CCM scene, what went wrong? Oh well, at least we still have Relient K
Switchfoot have had solid albums post TBL. Vice Verses, Hello Hurricane, Nothing is Sound, Oh! Gravity were all solid albums. I think that's what makes this so disappointing though is that it their second flop in a row (This and Fading West). That just hurts.
While it is a pretty weak album, I wouldn't say Native Tongue is as bad as described here. There are a couple gems, even though about half the album moves towards that Sample based rock sound.

Dude, happy 2020! Thanks for posting your amazing insights and helping me (and other busy people) to further rock education. Keep being the nicest guy on the internet. So glad to have someone sharing the Tool love!
My friend saw Attila live because they were opening for Crown The Empire. She called me the next day saying that they are one of the worst bands she’s ever heard. I feel so bad that she had to put up with at least 45 minutes of their “music”
If that gospel music group was really that desperate for a Christian Rock group to promote, they could easily have gone with Skillet. Sure, this year’s album from them wasn’t a winner, but it’d be more listenable than whatever Switchfoot was trying to do.
The worst albums I've had the displeasure of hearing from pop acts were Ed Sheeran's No. 6 Collaboration Protect, DJ Khaled's Son of Asahd, Kanye West's Jesus is King, Nav's Bad Habits, both of Logic's new albums from this year, and the Backstreet Boys' pitiful excuse of a comeback album (only found out by accident looking at album ratings, and it's hilariously bad). Counting overall, since I'm not going to pretend parody albums or online acts are off limits: Nostalgia Critic's The Wall is the worst album released this year, hands down, and certainly deserves a spot somewhere on worst albums of the decade.
As a big Puddle of Mudd fan it hurts me to say this, but i agree (for the most part) with "Welcome to Galvania" being on here, for me it was so crushingly disappointing that they weren't able to crank out another good album like they had before, instead of me liking almost every track, i only ended up liking 4 of the songs, and that hurt me bad. However, it didn't hurt me as bad as that new Zac Brown Band album, because there wasn't a single track on there that i liked (seriously, what the hell happened to the ZBB?) Papa Roach became awful a while ago (at least for me) so i wasn't surprised that their new album was bad, and i can say the exact same thing about the new Skillet album. I'd say i was disappointed in the new Switchfoot album, but honestly, i feel like Switchfoot gave up after Vice Verses. I've always hated AJR so it didn't surprise me when their album sucked. didn't hate the new Attila album though, i thought it was good by Attila standards, i 100% understand why you didn't like it though and for what it's worth, it wasn't nearly as bad as the new King 810 album. (and as a side note, nostalgia critics the wall is probably the worst album of the year)
I’ve never heard of or anything from AJR till this video. What is that terrible mess!? I know you had to do this video but I’m sad I was exposed to AJR.
I spent most of this year listening to the DropKick Murphy's, Sabaton, Volbeat, and Flogging Molly. I didn't pay attention to a lot of new music that came out.
Switchfoot broke my heart this year. They have been consistently good, and this year they became K-Mart bluelight special Imagine Dragons. Imagine Dragons SUCKS. Being the Christian version of Imagine Dragons SUCKS even more.
I honestly don't even know who Attila is, but I'm a hardcore P Roach fan from the beginning. I love Come Around and I feel like these people criticizing it must reject any depth to lyrics.
@@BallBustinKatei am happy that you don't listen attlia, but about the papa album, yeah i agree with luke here, there is no depth in the lycics. And also i am pretty sure that their previous had more depth than this album.
Hi. Love your channel, could u give me any tips on doing wat you do with the concert/live bands photography please. I'd love to get into it. Thanks man. Keep it up!!
Here's a list of my least favorites of 2019: (Sorry to anyone who likes these albums, no hate I just wasn't a fan) Skillet- Victorious Papa Roach- Who Do You Trust? Scott Stapp- The Space Between The Shadows Avril lavigne- Head Above Water Remo Drive- Natural Everyday Degradation Busted- Halfway There BTS- Map Of The Soul: PERSONA Demon Hunter- War/Peace Frank Carter And The Rattlesnakes- End Of Suffering RAMMSTEIN- s/t Bring Me The Horizon- Amo Okilly Dokilly- Howdilly Twodilly Issues- Beautiful Oblivion Fidlar- Almost Free Buckcherry- Warpaint Set It Off- Midnight Weezer- The Black Album One OK Rock- Eye Of The Storm Motionless In White- Disguise Sleater-Kinney- The Center Won't Hold Puddle Of Mudd- Welcome To Galvania Attila- Villain Chase Atlantic- Phases AJR- Neotheater Nostalgia Critic- The Wall
It's so sad to me to see what Frank Carter & the rattlesnakes have become, Blossom is probably one of my all-time favourite albums but both albums that followed didn't compare in anyway
Speaking as someone who actually took the time to listen to Atilla's newest album, I'd say comparing their atrocious lyrics to the ICP is an insult to ICP. At least there are times when the ICP sounded funny, while Atilla on the other hand throughout their entire discography had not one good line. Or sound for that matter.
My least favorite album of 2019 was "The Owl" by Zac Brown Band---worse than Attila's and King 810's appearances this year, imo, because I'm at least used to their reprehensible antics. I cannot stress enough how appalled I was at hearing ZBB, of all artists, selling out as aggressively as they did. I'm assuming you didn't listen to King 810's album from this year, otherwise it would have been on your list, I'm sure. "Jesus is King" was a damn close second. "Welcome to Galvania" was terrible overall, but it had its moments. "Neotheater" was also terrible, but I think AJR are a bit over-hated. What did you think of "The Space Between the Shadows", by the way?
Mark (Spectrum Pusle) played some of The Owl to Crash and I and we both lost our minds. What happened to ZBB?! Also, The Space Between The Shadows is bad. Possibly the worst Stapp solo album. But, the music itself behind Stapps "lyrics" isn't wretched.
Zac Brown Band is still making music? I forgot about those guys after that Fried Chicken song or whatever that was hit big and quickly forgotten about.
I really like ajr. 2019 was kind of a hard year for me, and 100 bad days (or whatever the song is called) really helped me get through it. I started watching like a couple of weeks ago, great content, great channel
okay people when it comes to Emmerue or Attila, just listen to DevilOOF instead. seriously it's some good Deathcore (granted blackened deathcore, but still deathcore) not this #TRASHCORE as for my worst of the year(i made sure to pick ones you did not cover in this top 5, as that would be beating a dead horse) "The Change" awake at last 0/10 any remotely "good" or "decent" thing from this album has been plagiarized. this is a band that has no info like a Wikipedia page (only the Spotify bio) despite dominating serious XM because they got nothing interesting or personal to say. just from the cover art (which plagiarizes "Mindsweep" by enter shikari), you KNOW how bad this album is going to be. this album also wastes the Ice nine kills vocalist on a feature by just having him hum in the background. the BEST part of the album is THE INTRO TRACK where they plagiarize "welcome to the black parade". I had to restrain myself from saying more because a lot of this I said in my review of the album. for another example of plagiarism play the song "bigger picture" from this album and then "My devil on the bed" by The GazettE, and AAL somehow made their version worse. without even taking into context the fact that they bastardized the atmosphere of the song they were ripping off. this an album so bad, you will be begging for Skillet's "Victorious" "Awful Truth" Woes 0/10 this album will make you BEG for a simple plan! BOTH logic albums 0/10 Has this guy ever even been good? dude sucks, most his disog. is "i am .25% black so I can say the N-word" and bragging about how his corporately planned anti-suicide song did well. seriously do not pay attention to rappers like him, put your attention to rappers like Denzel Curry instead. "Ingigo" Chris Brown ZZZ/10 this album is OVER 3hrs when counting the deluxe edition and it is one of the most Boring albums i have ever heard, this album is Xanax in music form. actually, at least with Xanax, you don't still feel drowsy days after hearing it. background R&B sounds better than this. it's clear this album is only so long so it can gain more spins on Spotify "Hollywood death star" -BOTDF INTENSE HATRED/ 10 Davhine would have done CB's method if they were not banned from Spotify. for this, I will take out all the horrible things they have done and explain these albums' failure purely on a music front. this album Recycles B-sides and like 2 new songs and calls it a new album (this is the same band that reused the same opening track on their first 2 albums) oh and guess what, that said the opening track is REUSED HERE as well. aside from being lazy, the music itself like always is just the worst. ether trying to be very sexual and "erotic" but just comes off as really gross (think a peeping tom who is an old man on meth), or being "woke", seriously even freaking AJR writes that stuff better. and of course, there is more comparing himself to Jesus (oh for those of you that don't know, in regards to the really messed up things about davhine that came out that ago, there was a song in response called "Crucified by your lies" where he compares himself to Jesus.) Davine is the worst of "woke" Culture and the biggest hypocrite, where he will be "oh don't kill yourself your a shining star" and then put a diss track out on a suicidal 16-year-old fan.their is better production in free to use software and the instrumentals justify every music purists hate for electronica. I am going to stop myself here, it's already hard for me at this point to not type profanity. so you should get from this why this album is a failure. but yes, screw this little punk for everything he has done, and his fanbase of apologists wh harass victims as well. also, the cover art is a crappy ripoff of David bowie's "Blackstar"
I met the guys in Papa Roach earlier this year and they are all such chill guys. Love them and their stuff, but their best stuff is from nearly two decades ago. Didn’t like their new album much, but I’ll still jam out to Last Resort every time it’s played.
I've said this before and I'll say it again. I like how Jacoby Shaddix released a song with Mark Morton (Sworn Apart) that is LOADS BETTER than his own band's new album released around the same time.
I could write about the bad album released by Glass Tiger, this year, as its singer isn't capable of singing at the right moment, but why would anybody care about Glass freaking Tiger ? I could write about Fever 333's album that annoyed me a lot but that's probably not meant for me, anyway. But is it just me who is really worried about where Volbeat goes from here ? This year's album has a poor audio quality and that makes the really bad and cheap songs from that album really worse. And that bad audio quality happens at the same time that Volbeat's song quality dropped, too. Effortless album. Their next album might be a disastrous one.
I hadn't heard of AJR before this year and while I think there is definitely a hollowness to their sound, which makes more sense now the corporate aspect have been explained, I actually like two of their songs from neotheatre quite a bit; Birthday Party and Finale. I heard Birthday Party before anything else and the lyrics and "instrumentals" were so bizarre that I kept going back to it. That and the ear worm qualities. It felt like the opening number in a musical about someone's life. Plus the easerhead sample? Wtf?? I just had to listen to it again to try to make sense of it and it grew on me as a result. As for Finale, this is actually weirdly personal. The storyline of finale, if there actually is one and it's not just me projecting, really spoke to me because of a character I have created for my D&D campaign; someone who had the promise to do great things but ultimately failed and is haunted by the expectations of those he let down. The song ended up in my inspiration playlist because of that and I still sing along to it in the shower. Anyhoo, those are my two cents. Fantastic video as always Luke. 😁
I didn’t listen to Villain. I committed to refusing to listen to it. Neotheater by AJR is my worst album of 2019 and it’s not even close. Every dumpster fire of corporate cynicism and malcontent for the art form is present on Neotheater and thus is my sole example of how bad things can truly get even in a year as amazing as this one. I hated Suicide King by King 810 as much as the next guy, but to me Neotheater is the audible equivalent of battery acid to the eardrum.
Honestly, I may hate AJR more than King 810 too. At least I finished Suicide King 2 times. Neotheater (and another 2 AJR albums) were so bad I barely made it once
To be fair I probably would have put Attila on my WOTY list too had I listened to it, but like I said I was lucky enough to avoid the new album like the plague and don’t plan on listening to it at any point in my life. I’m quite happy in my own little world.
Proud to see AJR and Attila on here...though sad to see nostalgia critic’s the wall on here due to the “no parody album” rule (it’s right next to emmure’s eternal enemies for worst album i’ve ever heard). Still, I don’t think your picks could be more on point. There was another King 810 album called “Suicide King” which ranges from laughably bad to boring. You aren’t missing much. (As for that “The click” RTP...I had you covered a month ago with my own review of that album...in your style...please don’t hurt me.)
@@Hailstorm273 Agreed. Simple Plan at least always seemed like they were writing from their hearts and enjoyed themselves, making them a very consistent "guilty pleasure" band to listen to.
Trap snares and pro tools in rock is the hair metal of the 2010s, a fad that was really popular this decade and started off well with some promise, but by the end of the decade, the last dreads of the bands playing catch-up with the fad completely ruined it and made it an embarrassing mess

Hey, don't diss King 810! I'll never forget how hard I laughed when I first heard them
The worst albums I've had the displeasure of hearing from pop acts were Ed Sheeran's No.
Papa roach have always been trend hopping hacks
(and as a side note, nostalgia critics the wall is probably the worst album of the year)
"Fun Fact: Raccoons make terrible pets!" Tito the Raccoon wants to know your location.
I’ve never heard of or anything from AJR till this video. What is that terrible mess!? I know you had to do this video but I’m sad I was exposed to AJR.
I’ve never heard of AJR, but I want to know more about how bad they are. The seconds of the song you played were pretty bland
How does AJR retain listeners? They're so forgettable, I figured they'd be more irrelevant now then they actually are. Sad.
My top 5 best: Tool, Baby Metal, Alcest, Ghost and Vast.
Wasn't Prequelle released last year?
Alcest rock
Vast! All right!
Disagree with P Roach. Come Around and The Ending are two of my favorite songs of the year. I also really liked Subhuman by Attila.
You like attila? Really?
I was not aware of puddle of mudd releasing an album.
Hi. Love your channel, could u give me any tips on doing wat you do with the concert/live bands photography please. I'd love to get into it. Thanks man. Keep it up!!
9:01 we’re coming up on 5 years Luke!
Here's a list of my least favorites of 2019:
(Sorry to anyone who likes these albums, no hate I just wasn't a fan)
Skillet- Victorious
Papa Roach- Who Do You Trust?
Scott Stapp- The Space Between The Shadows
Avril lavigne- Head Above Water
Remo Drive- Natural Everyday Degradation
Busted- Halfway There
BTS- Map Of The Soul: PERSONA
Demon Hunter- War/Peace
Frank Carter And The Rattlesnakes- End Of Suffering
RAMMSTEIN- s/t
Bring Me The Horizon- Amo
Okilly Dokilly- Howdilly Twodilly
Issues- Beautiful Oblivion
Fidlar- Almost Free
Buckcherry- Warpaint
Set It Off- Midnight
Weezer- The Black Album
One OK Rock- Eye Of The Storm
Motionless In White- Disguise
Sleater-Kinney- The Center Won't Hold
Puddle Of Mudd- Welcome To Galvania
Attila- Villain
Chase Atlantic- Phases
AJR- Neotheater
Nostalgia Critic- The Wall
@HelloNurd As a fan of early Avril, I 100% approve of all Head Above Water slander
I enjoyed Victorious overall so we can agree to disagree on that album
....the Nostalgia Critic makes music?
It's so sad to me to see what Frank Carter & the rattlesnakes have become, Blossom is probably one of my all-time favourite albums but both albums that followed didn't compare in anyway
@@johnoneil9188 He made a parody of The Wall by Pink Floyd. He had Rob Scallion helping him out.
@@archivedaccount5990 heavy is the head is actually a really good song
I really like ajr. 2019 was kind of a hard year for me, and 100 bad days (or whatever the song is called) really helped me get through it. I started watching like a couple of weeks ago, great content, great channel
Same but in my opinion neotheater is one of their worst albums
okay people when it comes to Emmerue or Attila, just listen to DevilOOF instead. seriously it's some good Deathcore (granted blackened deathcore, but still deathcore) not this #TRASHCORE
as for my worst of the year(i made sure to pick ones you did not cover in this top 5, as that would be beating a dead horse)
"The Change" awake at last 0/10
any remotely "good" or "decent" thing from this album has been plagiarized. this is a band that has no info like a Wikipedia page (only the Spotify bio) despite dominating serious XM because they got nothing interesting or personal to say. just from the cover art (which plagiarizes "Mindsweep" by enter shikari), you KNOW how bad this album is going to be. this album also wastes the Ice nine kills vocalist on a feature by just having him hum in the background. the BEST part of the album is THE INTRO TRACK where they plagiarize "welcome to the black parade". I had to restrain myself from saying more because a lot of this I said in my review of the album. for another example of plagiarism play the song "bigger picture" from this album and then "My devil on the bed" by The GazettE, and AAL somehow made their version worse. without even taking into context the fact that they bastardized the atmosphere of the song they were ripping off. this an album so bad, you will be begging for Skillet's "Victorious"
"Awful Truth" Woes 0/10
this album will make you BEG for a simple plan!
BOTH logic albums 0/10
Has this guy ever even been good? dude sucks, most his disog. is "i am .25% black so I can say the N-word" and bragging about how his corporately planned anti-suicide song did well. seriously do not pay attention to rappers like him, put your attention to rappers like Denzel Curry instead.
"Ingigo" Chris Brown ZZZ/10
this album is OVER 3hrs when counting the deluxe edition and it is one of the most Boring albums i have ever heard, this album is Xanax in music form. actually, at least with Xanax, you don't still feel drowsy days after hearing it. background R&B sounds better than this. it's clear this album is only so long so it can gain more spins on Spotify
"Hollywood death star" -BOTDF INTENSE HATRED/ 10
Davhine would have done CB's method if they were not banned from Spotify. for this, I will take out all the horrible things they have done and explain these albums' failure purely on a music front. this album Recycles B-sides and like 2 new songs and calls it a new album (this is the same band that reused the same opening track on their first 2 albums) oh and guess what, that said the opening track is REUSED HERE as well. aside from being lazy, the music itself like always is just the worst. ether trying to be very sexual and "erotic" but just comes off as really gross (think a peeping tom who is an old man on meth), or being "woke", seriously even freaking AJR writes that stuff better. and of course, there is more comparing himself to Jesus (oh for those of you that don't know, in regards to the really messed up things about davhine that came out that ago, there was a song in response called "Crucified by your lies" where he compares himself to Jesus.) Davine is the worst of "woke" Culture and the biggest hypocrite, where he will be "oh don't kill yourself your a shining star" and then put a diss track out on a suicidal 16-year-old fan.their is better production in free to use software and the instrumentals justify every music purists hate for electronica.
"it's like Attila but good"- Jared Dines
Me when Puddle of Mudd released an album: Uh Oh they fucked it up again
Worst Rock Album:
Legendary by Skillet
Worst album overall:
Indigo by Chris Brown
@Cable B You clearly haven't heard Iggy Azalea's album from this year, that's torture that I wouldn't wish on anyone
BBKPAO
That is #2 on my list & the only reason Chris Brown is #1 is because of his shady business practice of having 20+ songs on his album
@Cable B Does that mean that Drake was your #1 last year?
You poor soul for listening to Chris Brown
Nolan Vogel I heard indigo too and yeah it’s number one on my worst list
I wonder when AJR will pay Jon Bellion royalties for completely ripping him off two albums in a row.
I honestly like some of those Attila songs lol. Good video nonetheless
Really?
Do you do album or song reviews? New subscriber here
I do! Many in fact. On my channel home page you seen album reviews and other vids I've done.
@@RockedNet awesome!! Got an album coming up but also a handful of singles out now, where can I submit?
I’m glad I subscribed to this channel. Awesome content.
I actually did consider Switchfoot for my WOTY list but ultimately I felt that as bad as it was I just found a lot more that was worse.
I get the logic behind that and understand what you mean. But yeah...these albums are bad.
To be fair I probably would have put Attila on my WOTY list too had I listened to it, but like I said I was lucky enough to avoid the new album like the plague and don’t plan on listening to it at any point in my life. I’m quite happy in my own little world.
You're probably gonna hate me for saying this, but I think Suicide King is an amazing record. It's not as good as La Petite Mort, but still amazing.
Only Atilla i like is Atilla Csihar, the extreme metal vocalist of Mayhem.
I like Attila the hun more than this and he burnt down cities that he raided.
You poor man. Did you really listen to all these albums?
Saw Justin Sane on a photo in the background. Subscribed 😂
AJR: The Simple Plan of the 2010's
@@Hailstorm273 Agreed. Simple Plan at least always seemed like they were writing from their hearts and enjoyed themselves, making them a very consistent "guilty pleasure" band to listen to.
Trap snares and pro tools in rock is the hair metal of the 2010s, a fad that was really popular this decade and started off well with some promise, but by the end of the decade, the last dreads of the bands playing catch-up with the fad completely ruined it and made it an embarrassing mess
I knew from the moment I listened to "Villain", it not only would be the worst album of the year (Even King 810 couldn't touch this level of suck) it would be the worst album I'VE EVER HEARD...
I only had 4 albums I considered a 0 before this. Congrats Attila you have the fifth and by far the worst. In fact I don't even recognize it by it's name, I now call it F*** THIS ALBUM.
Edit: I also saw that line for "Toxic": Song Title and Fanbase description
Glad you caught it. ;)
@@RockedNet Believe me, I died of laughter...speaking of laughter you know who released an album? Quiet Riot...Yes...that Quiet Riot.
Spoiler: It sucked.
You speak my mind so articulately. Love your channel!
Attila is so Bro, bro. So fucking bro. It's like a Monster Energy blood transfusion bro. Brrrrrrooooo! Bro.
Attila is not even music, it’s just noise.
I may like AJR but I can admit that they are stupid sometimes. It isn't for everyone, but their music gave me hope and joy during a time when i was at a really low point in my life. I will not defend their music, however, I can say I like their music because it helped me quite a bit this past year.
Just a thought I wanted to put into the mix.
Whenever I saw Welcome to Galvania at the number 2 spot on this list, I legitimately thought, “Who the hell could beat out Puddle of Mudd?!” And then Attila came up;
I legitimately forgot that Attila released an album this year. The only time I ever heard that Attila released Villain was when Crash Thompson literally dumped on that vile piece of garbage 😂
Oh come on, "Who Do You Trust?" It's not that bad, it has 6 bad songs, much worse is Weezer's
I won't lie that I burst out laughing at the fact that Attila went from pineapple on pizza to murder. Still, they're awful.
I guess you can say we weren't "meant to live" for that switchfoot album 😃👆
I'm sorry, "This is the guy who stole my house"? What does that even mean?!
I didn't even know Atilla released an album this year. Good God.
I have to be the guy and say Nostalgia Critic's The Wall is the worst of this year. Such a disrespectful piece of trash.
Damn! Everything you said about the Papa roach album...was everything I said the week it came out. I even started calling them Imagine Roaches. And I LOVE Papa Roach!
AJR is like a like soft rock mom version of 21 Pilots.
you have a funny and easy to follow along delivery . i also agree and appreciate your taste in music
UNINTENTIONAL NOISE ROCK really is the best way to describe atilla djksdjf
Doug Walker's The Wall was easily awful
If you hadn't decided to omit Parody albums where would The Nostalgia Critic's The Wall album place?
Luke's mustache is the best of 2019
I’ve figured out what to call Imagine Dragon’s style music. It’s like. High school pep rally or pre high school football game hype music. Lol
Could we put over Rocked's future mustache?
Worst of the year for me is whatever the new Puddle of Mudd album is called. It's just bad all around. Kudos to Wes on sobriety though. Too bad that doesn't change his music.
A girl I work with and I were having a Convo about music recently. I told her I liked metal, rock, metalcore, etc and she asked me if I liked Attila. I couldn't help but laugh and then walked away
Atilla should get some award, the "You suck more than Puddle of Mudd" award. Honestly when I heard there was going to be a new Puddle of Mudd album this year I thought it would be the suckiest album of the year. But Atilla proved they suck more somehow, that's got to be skill right? to suck more than Puddle of Mudd not a good skill but a skill all the same.
