I"ve never really given OneNote any thought until I purchased a Surface Go last year. It has now become my go-to note-taking app. One important feature I love is the ability to record audio while taking notes (i.e. during meetings) and then jumping to specific segments of the recording based on what I typed or written when I review these notes. Anyhow, great tutorial and great channel. Already subscribed.
I am intoxicated with this knowledge. I can't keep calm about it. I did some OneNote training recently, which was productive, but I was too tired to practice or grasp it until now, and I am feeling on top of the world with this new found knowledge. Thank you, Leila. I hope to pay this back soon.

Thanks for the tips. I've used OneNote for years & wouldn't be without it now. One thing I would say is don't build too complex a hierarchical structure. I found I had several notes that could easily exist in more than one of my hierarchies & it was frustrating trying to decide where to file them. In the end I started creating a new notebook per year (just to keep the number of notes per book manageable), and use the excellent search feature to find what I want.
Long time One Note user, but obviously I've not put it to greatest use. I have about a dozen notebooks, and over 1000 pages, so I've been a fairly "prolific" user. Your overview is EXCELLENT! Can't wait to put more of the functions to good use! Thank you!
This is the best "quick" video that packs the most useful information! I've had a love/hate thing going on with OneNote for years and this eliminated the "hate" portion! Thank you!
Leila: You and your team, have an amazing ability to provoke ideas as well as those nuances of ideas. May I say thank you for redirecting me to ‘One Note’. A very pleasurable experience.
Thank you! As a MAC user I was getting more and more frustrated keeping track of things - and took a note to look into OneNote. And now you've done just that for me! I'm heading over now to look at your other OneNote vids now. Thank you very much again!
My favorite features are: being able to type and draw in a free space, being able to move and resize text and drawings and having a large amount of open space to zoom in and out from!
About 2 years ago a colleague from another team showed me how he uses OneNote. Our team started using it for all of our notes and it has really freed up our brain capacity! We have so much information in OneNote now but it's easily found with the search function. You can always just dump anything on your mind in there and go back later to organize the information because it's so easy.
Great vid! Have used OneNote for years for same reasons you mention but have drifted away from it recently. Saw this vid and after watching it am reinvigorated to use again. The new, at least for me, tips and tricks are compelling and push me to start using it again. So thank you!
Wonderful tutorial Leila. As you’ve mentioned there are many other features. I use OneNote for many things but the main one is researching. Features I often use are, clip from webpage - can clip the entire page or just the article, since I have tons of information I love referencing either pages, sections, words or paragraphs - easily done by highlighting the sentence or word or page or whatever you want and right clicking then select copy link and then you could insert this link anywhere you wish. Inserting a RUclips link aromatically embeds the video. Notebooks, sections or pages can be easily shared by creating a pdf of them. One other fantastic feature is that you can share a notebook with other people and all of you could collaborate and populate information there and it updates live for everyone with their name tags attached to the info they’ve added and you could play back history - as in rewind or forward - so you’d be able to backtrack events later to catch-up anything you’ve missed or gotten mixed up with. You’ve got access to your notes anywhere you can find a computer linked to the net. A great feature for students is that they can record voice from a lecture whilst capturing notes, once the recording is done, it inserts that recoding into that page. OneNote is awesome, I can’t function without it!!!
I don’t know if you meant “Copy Link to Paragraph,” but I use that function a lot to create a hyperlinked Table of Contents for a page. I’ll highlight a section header, “Copy Link to Paragraph”, paste it at the top of the page, copy the Page title, “Copy Link to Paragraph”, click the link to the last link copied, then paste the link to the page title under the section title. This allows me to quickly jump back to the top of a page and browse the Table of Contents for that page. The other cool thing about these Paragraph Links is you can paste them to multiple places. I don’t do it as much, but if there’s a new term used throughout a section of my notes, I’ll paste a link to a glossary everywhere it appears in that article. Once I’ve read the glossary entry, I just hit “Back” to go back to the original article.
@@josephcoon5809 we are both on the same point, you’ve just elaborated more on this feature, you could hyperlink just about any content and add that link to wherever you need for easy reference or to quickly get to other parts of your notebook. Thanks for your input.

One GTD thought is within Tags. I can see where creating an "Agendas" tags for either a person (manager) or a group (team meeting) would work really well. Then, when you have your meeting, you just click on tags and everything comes together. This concept could also work for Waiting-For's for a person. Thanks! It would be great if you could cover One Note integration with Outlook (Microsoft 365) particularly organizing meeting notes using hierarchy feature
In the OneNote 2016 interface it connects to the Tasking module of Outlook, which I recommend for ultimate productivity. OneNote provides the overview of the project, and is a central location of disparate information; yet Outlook tasks allow you to curate the tasks that you want to focus. You pull them into Outlook via OneNote 2016 by "tagging" them as a task. Then in Outlook, I have a section to the right of my screen that is a mini window of my tasks curated from OneNote and tasks that are embedded in my emails.

No more searching thru multiple network directories and local hard drive looking for a file. This One Note is so handy and easy to use, it saves me a lot of time all the time. I now can open up files that I am working on and a list of files and a list of tasks that need to be done and so on. able to share files with others very easily.

Thanks Leila- I am constantly suffering from too much to do, not enough time and my son suggested i try this app. Just started and it got very confusing but your video was very helpful. Thanks much from the ADDD guy...
Hi Leila,
I from Israel was exposed through RUclips to your wonderful channel I really enjoyed watching the videos and learning wonderful insights used with Excel mainly and with other applications, although I am not an office manager this interests me very much, and I am very happy to learn more tricks and tricks.
Thank you very much, and on this occasion I wanted to say that adding the subtitles is very important, since I do not speak English completely, and when there are subtitles I have the option on RUclips to choose an automatic Hebrew translation, so I am more confident that I understood what you said.
Thanks again, and good luck in all the blessed endeavors.
I like how you left out the common and intuitive features and focused on the productive and unique features of the app. 😎👌 You're very organised as well. 😀
I wish there was a migration function to transfer backups from another app. 🤔
You are a great teacher! explanation is so simple! I love it.
I personally use a quick screenshot feature by "Windows + s" shortcut key.
windows + shift + s
Appreciate all the Tips...before listening this session I was just knowing word "Note" But post this session, I'm sure now I won't ideas any more. Superb class for professionals like me !!
OMG anybody else love the wall behind her!!!
I will have to screen shot it and put it in my One Note

Oh I got it, I will start an on line business, and hire a book preservation specialist and stimulate the economy bu paying them a 6 figure income to keep the books looking amazing.
And only occupy an small amount of their time, say 1 hr a day?
Truly my dream to hire people and pay them ridiculous amounts if money to do things I want to enjoy but not maintain...😂🤔
I feel like I'm in a lecture hall.
Awesome work.
Thanks for making me look like a genius with my team Leila 😊
i like that part "pretty cool right, dont tell your teachers" i never kne how to use one note. now i do. thank you leila
This is one of the most valuable RUclips channels I've ever found. Thank you.
This lady is super good . Very clear explanation with no errors . Thank you
Forget excel, teach us how to speak like you
Simon Xue amen!
LOL, ... Yes, that in itself can be very absorbing, ... (respectfully; smiling) Well, it all goes full circle. Knowing enough to share, interesting info, and ... having the blessing of a nice, speaking voice, ... sharing with a patient softness, and connective logic.
😅
Btw it is Onenote not Excel
@@DivyanshMMMUT that's the joke
Great Tips. The main difficulty I have with OneNote versus other note taking or data collection apps is that I cannot have a consistent size page throughout. Can you set up a page size (i.,e. Letter or A4) and then write and insert info in a continuous view format.
i like the back wall of books
Me too! I immediately liked it when I saw it.
@@LeilaGharani first thing I noticed. impressively good. Will you please let me know how it holds with time? I've doubts with it.
@@anilrajnarooka "let me know how it holds with time"
It's not real books :)
Looks like something Hildi Thomas from Trading Spaces did to a home makeover.
@@silversolver7809 that makes sense :) thanks.
As a software developer, I use oneNote to note steps, process and snippets. It gives a sense of order in the work we do.
Especially coloring and moving texts wherever we want , having lots of blocks, makes it more unique.
How do you use it for blocks, color etc , any tips or videos?
Thank you. I appreciate that you talk slowly and clearly which is perfect for someone hearing info for the first time!
She has a great and clear voice but I think the speed of her speech can be faster. I tried 1.25x and find it better.
2x is better in my opinion.

Hi Leila! Amazing video! I especially appreciated how you listed out gear and resource links. What program do you use to overlay the video with the text? It's flawless and I love it! I went through the comments but didn't see it mentioned anywhere but it is highly effective and visually appealing to keep people interested in the video and able to follow along easily. I also teach at a college so from one instructor to another, you are definitely great at what you do!
Hello There, I do have the same question for Leila. Between, did you manage to get the answer by any chance? Please do let me know if you had found. I am gonna do the same thing if I find it.
@Leila - Very composed video, I should say. Your tone was good without major ups and downs and your voice was clear and crisp. Very good effort.

Very good video, i have been using onenote for years to not only sketch down ideas, but also make notes from books as i read them (yes that said!)
But another nice feature you didnt mention is how you can share a book with a 3rd party by inputting an email address.
I absolutely love it. A number of teachers are also using it as a teaching tool. I included, designed an entire GCSE Astro course using it.
loved your OneNote turorial and also loved the backdrop with opened books on the wall.
Leila please prepare an OneNote Udemy Course, I will buy without thinking!
Wow this feature is new for me and I love to listen you. My favourite one extract words from any image.
This is really very convenient.
Thanks! It would be great if you could cover One Note integration with Outlook (Microsoft 365) particularly organizing meeting notes using hierarchy feature
yeah that'd be great. Also how one could go about using onenote in teams meetings
@@melifluous-vibz Hi, I am now using on OneNote version on Microsoft 365; some of the features that I used in the OneNote 2016 version, I can't seem to find. That's the context of my earlier comment.
Great job on video. I ignored this program over a year thinking it was just another fancy sticky note program. It is much better than that. No more minimizing windows to open certain programs. No more searching thru multiple network directories and local hard drive looking for a file. This One Note is so handy and easy to use, it saves me a lot of time all the time. I now can open up files that I am working on and a list of files and a list of tasks that need to be done and so on. able to share files with others very easily.
Thanks for your time and knowledge. Today I realized OneNote has a Reading Coach. I am amazed. I think finally I will improve my pronunciation and reading skill. 💕💕😊😊
I think I'll just continue having hundreds of .txt files in my documents folder and slamming my keyboard on the desk to name them
OMFG. Seriously you do that too?? LOL omfg too funny
I love the builtin snipping tool and the audio recording device in it!
Howdy Leila. I am a long time and avid OneNote user and really love it.
Just started taking notes some in OneNote and loved it, this video mentioned some great features I never would've thought it may have. Thank you very much!
Great to hear, Jesse!
I use the One note for my daily activity tracker. The beauty of the One note, it allows me to create my taks as checkbox list and I can mark those tasks are complete.
I was going to buy a notebook just to practice math, I see I have no need!
You are amazing. I am so happy that I came across this video. I subscribed 👍🏻🎆
Welcome aboard!

Hi
I teach using OneNote. When I write(draw) "+" sign, it automatically attaches left and top points and it looks like a "4". The same issue happens when I write"=", "7", "11" etc. I would be thankful if you could help me with this.
Thank you so much for the tips and tricks! Coolest feature for me is still the 'copy text from picture!' Changed my note taking completely.
Love that too. It's just so convenient.
I haven't used OneNote since I don't now how to, but surprisingly, I badly need this app! Thank you so much!
sticky notes - available within windows sticky notes app, and android onenote - but not win/mac onenote (yet)
S. M. Thanks for the conformation, was looking for that function and could not find it.
I really had no Idea this app has a lot of features. I thought it was just some notes/to-do list app.
At the time of watching this I say 2.2K likes and 19 dislikes. "Good Note stop telling your people to do that.?"
hi Leila, I am a One Note user. Your video is insanely useful, e.g. copy text from image . Thank you for your effort and wish you with every success.
Glad it was helpful, Edwin!
Thanks Leila! I am a past Evernote user but lost my notes when I exited a job position. My current employer offers Office 365 with OneNote. Your video will definitely help me get started.
2 minutes in, my notes look so much better! Great way to use "recipes" as an example. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful, Stefano!
Really great, thank you. I just discovered my favorite feature!
Taking handwritten notes on my Samsung Note phone in OneNote appears magically in my laptop's OneNote, and it's even easier to write on the phone than on my Wacom tablet and it appears nicer.
Also, I can scan paper documents with OneNote mobile and it goes to my notebook on my computer, too.
Wonderful!
Awesome! It's the best video I've ever seen about OneNote. I've been using for fews months and I was not aware of theses features. Your voice is perfect, so I understand almost all you say. (I'm a portugueses speaker with a bit english fluency).
Thank you so much for your tips and advice in this OneNote video. I have been using OneNote for about 6 years and, like many people, over time I was comfortable with the way my note system worked, so I just kept using it. After watching your presentation, I learned some tips for OneNote that I had never considered, and I'm looking forward to incorporating these new skills into my record-keeping both historically and going forward.
You have a wonderful teaching style that is very clear with details and easy to understand. I believe "we are never too old to learn" so I will now follow you to keep an open mind on my skills. Thanks again for the tips.
Stay safe as we end 2020 - wishing all who see this a Healthy, Happy New Year 2021.
Omgosh Leila! This was timely and on point, just what i needed to get my head wrapped around how to effectively use OneNote across multi platforms to be more organized for school, work and life! You did an AMAZING job explaining everything!
