Another get tool in OneNote for taking minutes is the audio recording function...With the permission of the meeting attendees you can record the meeting and type notes at the same time. When you are finish the recording play links are created that correspond to the notes your typed. This allows you to skip to a specific part of the recording regarding the note you made, to hear what was discussed. I love it.
As a mature aged student starting a new under grad degree this year, there wasn’t a lot of information on OneNote that wasn’t exclusively business oriented, and I had to learn by doing. I’m so glad I found your site, I have learnt so many new things to enhance what I’m already doing, which is basically the keeper of all my course notes and research. We get the office 365 suite free from my university, and it’s been invaluable to sync across my devices, a windows laptop and an iPad. My degree is heavy on academic reading, so I ‘drag and drop’ downloaded PDF’s to reading mode directly into OneNote pages (setting up folder, section and page system beforehand is important, one PDF per page). This syncs directly to my iPad, which I do most of my reading on, via a comfy chair. Clicking on Draw, selecting highlighting tool, I use my Apple Pencil to highlight and pen to hand write notes (a finger works just as well). This then syncs to my laptop. When writing assignments via Word, it’s easy to refer to highlighted notes - enabling me to go completely paperless.

Leila, I'm awe-struck by the quality level of your video tutorials. You have a deep sense of teaching. I've produced some internal tutorials at the company I work for and I can appreciate the amount of efforts it requires. Your attention to details is truly impressive. There's not a single word out of scope, no repetition, neat examples and your speech sounds absolutely natural (with a discrete and classy touch of charm on top). A powerful tool no one talks about is OneNote's ability to index audio. In a meeting or presentation, you can click Insert and then record. OneNote will record and index the presentation. If you take notes you can indicated the spoken phrase and then later do a search for that phrase and the recording will go right to it.
I use OneNote for managing thing at work and also keep notes regarding my stuff. I have locked the stuff notes since it is personal information. Really like it. I have noticed that you go to the lock icon each time when actually all you have to do is press 'enter' key and type in the password. That easy.
Leila, I used OneNote as a way to share project files with my team who were spread across the US, (we managed over 150 locations of our companies real estate and office space design projects for a large engineering and architectural firm). We placed the OneNote file on a SharePoint site and set up each office design project with a Notebook template in OneNote and set up templates sections and pages which were laid out the same for each project. This allowed everyone to have access to the most current information on the project and know where it is located (if the team members uploaded it of course). It is a very powerful tool for keeping everything organized, and even expandable to multiple people using other Microsoft applications. Thanks for all of your learning videos they are very clear and informative.
I use an alternate method to distribute meeting notes. (I meet with many teams and don't want to manage permissions to my OneNote.) Instead, I take notes as Leila describes. To send, in OneNote select File --> Send --> Email page. I delete the link to my OneNote page that is at the top of the message as a default and send the rest! (I also the link and dial-in details for the original meeting, which appear as default). So easy!
I would too - but I like to use google home - shopping list, and in that case I just tell google to make a list (any list) and then tell it to add things to it
Thanx a lot Leila for sharing your knowledge, i have tried to learn as much as possible about One Note , To Do and Outlook (They are such a good programs in my work ) and you have given me a very big help on the way.
Thanks for sharing Leila, I dont currently use One Note but I may go back and watch you first One Note video before I start exploring the possibilities further...
If you want to save the full web page, just save the page from the browser as html only or full web page. If you want to preserve the formatting, get an extension like 'Single File' which will save the whole web page as a single file and preserve the formatting.
OneNote is the best app Microsoft ever created! I have used it since its intro and much of the last 10+ years of my life is documented in those notebooks but it is always great to hear another users view and application. To have meeting minutes in attendee hands before they have opened their laptop after leaving the meeting is nirvana! Thank you Leila. You are certainly pretty wonderful in your delivery and knowledge.
The Web Clipper is also very useful with context menu (mouse right click). This way I use it to save only selected text, or pictures, not the whole article. Thanks for your videos!
Sehr geehrte Frau Gharani, im Zusammenhang der Umstellung auf OneNote bin ich bei meiner Recherche auf youtube auf Ihre Videoschulungen gestoßen. Hi Leila, I discovered recently your tutorials on RUclips. They are so helpful in my line of work. Thank you for your organization and helpful tips for the Microsoft Apps.
Glad I found this video. I wanted to be able to highlight and make notes from a webpage in OneNote. Google Drive works but it can not what I found OneNote and WebClipper can do. I subscribed to find our more on how I can utilize OneNote for content creation. The bonus with OneNote is that it is synced with my PC, my laptop and the Samsung 360 Pro that I preordered. Samsung is doing some great partnering with MS. Thank you for the video!
