11:25 I think an important thing to understand about about Dio here: when he becomes a vampire he literally and figuratively sheds his humanity. He was already an evil person but it came from an understandable place of an impoverished, abusive childhood and jealosy towards the Joestars. After his transformation his insecurities about becoming his father, his pain over his mother's loss, and so forth, it is all gone leaving behind a truly evil.
While I like this interpretation, one of the characters says that he was clearly born evil. I interpret that as arakis intention, cause he is extremely inhuman in his actions from his first minute on screen
Jojos never changes, except that it immediately changes everything whenever it feels like it and then ignores those changes to make itself exactly the same again.

Please continue making these videos for the other parts. It’s very interesting to see a book reader’s perspective on anime especially very unique ones such as JoJo.
Youre gonna love it. It has ups and downs but its one if the most unique stories ever and actually has some crazy plot concepts . Combined with the most ridiculous art style and humor -
FUN FACT MERPHY: the reason there are several scenes where the characters pose and the colors invert or switch is because in the manga, there are no canon colors for the designs of the characters, while the anime chooses only certain colors to depict the characters as, any colors are could be used for them
The colors are also used as symbolism. There is normal colors through part 3 but in part 4 they somehow make the sky yellow and purple and it doesn't even make us blink an eye it looks so perfect for some weird reason
im thrilled youre talking about jojo now. I fell off with the show after a while but Part 1 is my favorite by far and one of my favorite anime arcs in general
Please, I beg you, continue this series. It is near and dear to my heart, and I am overjoyed to see that someone loved Part 1 as much as I did. It keeps getting better, not to mention more and more bizarre!
One thing I love about this series is Araki-sensei's passion and deep understanding of western music, from the characters to the name of abilities they are all references to songs and bands he likes.
It's not that the series "gets good" after part one. Part one is pretty great. HOWEVER, the parts after part one get EVEN BETTER! Things get even more absurd, more flamboyant, more expressive. The art style and animation is incredible! Can't wait for further reviews!!!
Merph like Jojo?!? AND IT'S PART 1 JOJO!?!?! i could never guess.... well, welcome to the bizzareness of Jojo-universe... trust me sometimes absurdity is an understatement for this series.... it is super weird but in a good way. And dont worry, it will get even more bizzare in each part.
YES!!! Jojo is such a fantastic vibe! Some people struggle with part 1, I've even heard people say they struggled w/ part 2 but no clue why there... I love the entire series! I can understand the criticisms of part 1 but overall it's fantastic!
No definitely give us more videos for each of the parts! If you loved part 1 I think you're going to love all the other parts. Araki is a master at introducing characters and making you instantly love them only to have them ripped away from you... think Oars Jr at Marineford... but for a whole series lol
You are so cultured for being a Part 1 enjoyer. I am so glad you didn't skip it. Personally Part 4 and 2 are my favorites. I'm interested in seeing your reactions to the rest of the parts, sound like a fun ride!
I CAN EVEN LIFT THIS ROCK! is such an underrated meme. You are not ready for part 2, but you are way less ready for parts 4 and five. Those two are some of my favorite battle shonen (with HxH and One Piece). And Part 6 has a great protagonist and one of my favorite endings in all fiction. Jojo is one of a kind, and is one of the few shows were you can read spoilers and not understand ANYTHING at all. In Jojo ANYTHING can happen Dio is the most charismatic pure evil character ever
Oh my goodness yes, Jojo is such a fun time but you might want to consider splitting Part 3 into multiple videos as it's the longest (48 episodes). The other three seasons after that are all 39 episodes
MERPHY ON JOJOS LETS GOOOO about your last point reviews about each part is the way to go and i will gamble on my beard that you will love Joseph more than Jonathan
I love Part 1 of Jojo, and I'm glad you do too! Like all the other comments say, it really just gets better from here. I get the feeling that you'll enjoy the heck out of Parts 2 and beyond too, because every part dials up the weird factor and somehow makes it work.
JONATHAN MY BELOVED!!!! God I adore his pure spirit and he has the best theme in anime. We potentially might get an announcement for part 7’s anime soon and I can’t wait
So glad to hear your love for the first part. As you pointed out people saying it "gets good" after the first part is due to what the series becomes post part 3. I love phantom blood for what it is, straight up good vs evil
Happy that you mentioned the monologues. Of course JoJo has it's heartfelt and iconic lines. But the hyper specific, most out of pocket metaphores and similes also stick in my mind. For everytime I think about Dio pleading with Jonathan only to realize he's dead, I also remember Dio yelling shit like "Even more disgusting than frog urine!"
I like part one, and please do a video for each part 😭! Since you understand what this show is, a BIZZARRE adventure, I think you’ll like most of the parts. I am worried about some tropes though, hopefully they don’t turn you off the show
I think you'll love part 2 and I'd like you to keep doing these segmented updates please. I actually think Part 3 is where you're going to struggle the most
SONO CHI NO SADAME.......JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOJO'S and Merphy getting into this bizarre tale and adventure let's freaking go love to see it this series is a very beloved manga to me
more part by part vids please 🗣️ also imo JJBA does change a lot but it’s pretty gradual, especially when you remember this story has been going on for 37 years
PLEASE keep the reactions going! Fans give the disclaimer on part 1 bc most aren’t used to absurdism. Based on what you liked about Phantom Blood, you’ll love Battle Tendency.
I love absurdity and anime, and only managed to watch like 20 episodes of this show. it got too much even for me XD Wishing you'll have all the fun with this bizzare show Merphy.
The true genius of Araki is that he puts his characters first. What they do and how they do it always matters even if the story goes off the rails sometimes. And the characters only get better from part one.
"But no one is a bigger fanboy of JoJo, than Speedwagon" I want to add to this by showing something the anime cut from the manga. When JoJo wins in the burning mansion and is in the hospital, Speedwagon thinks about how he lost everything and thinks the following: "(Mr. Joestar) must be feeling the most absolute loneliness! There's no one to comfort his heart! And there's nothing I can do! I want to help him, no matter how little! Give him hope of living! Take his hand to transmit it to him, even if he is unconscious!" And when Erina closes the door on him (that doesen't happen in the anime) he thinks she's a nurse and tells her: "Hey, wait! Open the door! You can take care of his health, I don't care! It's his heart I'm worried! He needs someone to cheer him up!" He's literally the best friend ever 🥹🥹🥹

One Piece is a gateway drug. Now that it is a firmly in her veins the addiction has begun. :D
I can relate so much to this. lol I felt so sad when I found out we weren't following Jonathan anymore... But you're gonna love Battle Tendencies! it's amazing and so absolutely memorable a memeable...
IT BEGINS!!!
Please continue making these videos for the other parts. It’s very interesting to see a book reader’s perspective on anime especially very unique ones such as JoJo.
Wait so now you are a JoSis?? The JoBros welcome you to the music playlist turn to manga that is Araki's work
Youre gonna love it. It has ups and downs but its one if the most unique stories ever and actually has some crazy plot concepts . Combined with the most ridiculous art style and humor -
WE GOT HER BOIS!
Also very important detail, Erina was pregnant when she escaped the ship, every new protagonist is related by blood to JOJO
FUN FACT MERPHY: the reason there are several scenes where the characters pose and the colors invert or switch is because in the manga, there are no canon colors for the designs of the characters, while the anime chooses only certain colors to depict the characters as, any colors are could be used for them
Crazy
The colors are also used as symbolism. There is normal colors through part 3 but in part 4 they somehow make the sky yellow and purple and it doesn't even make us blink an eye it looks so perfect for some weird reason
Is this also why Morioh has yellow skies and green pavement?
@@Corredor1230 it looks so natural we don't question it
im thrilled youre talking about jojo now. I fell off with the show after a while but Part 1 is my favorite by far and one of my favorite anime arcs in general
She's gonna love part 2
Please, I beg you, continue this series. It is near and dear to my heart, and I am overjoyed to see that someone loved Part 1 as much as I did. It keeps getting better, not to mention more and more bizarre!
One thing I love about this series is Araki-sensei's passion and deep understanding of western music, from the characters to the name of abilities they are all references to songs and bands he likes.
Jojo is honestly one of the funniest shows I've ever watched. I've never had to pause another show to calm down because I was laughing so much.
Please talk about each part! It changes, but it stays really bizarre, don't worry
If you love part 1 you will love part 2 even more! Glad you are hitting the classics and would love to see you talk about jojo's part by part
Merphy you gotta underSTAND, you'll love the series even more with the changes :)
She’s no match for German engineering
Neither were the je-I mean yeah.@@boybiboy21
Also, don't worry, one thing that stays a constant throughout the series IS the bizarreness.
YES!!! Jojo is such a fantastic vibe! Some people struggle with part 1, I've even heard people say they struggled w/ part 2 but no clue why there... I love the entire series! I can understand the criticisms of part 1 but overall it's fantastic!
Ah yes I can't wait to hear her thoughts on upcoming parts! Future Jojos are incredible!

You will never understand how excited and happy I was to see that thumbnail. I have been waiting so long and am soooooooo excited!!!
In Jojo ANYTHING can happen
Dio is the most charismatic pure evil character ever
Oh my goodness yes, Jojo is such a fun time but you might want to consider splitting Part 3 into multiple videos as it's the longest (48 episodes). The other three seasons after that are all 39 episodes
Wait until parts 7 and 8
You love to see some part 1 appreciation
MERPHY ON JOJOS LETS GOOOO
about your last point reviews about each part is the way to go and i will gamble on my beard that you will love Joseph more than Jonathan
I'm so happy she's watching this. My favorite anime.
Definitely do a section review each time. There’s so much to talk about.
I love Part 1 of Jojo, and I'm glad you do too! Like all the other comments say, it really just gets better from here. I get the feeling that you'll enjoy the heck out of Parts 2 and beyond too, because every part dials up the weird factor and somehow makes it work.
There are very few manga and let alone stories that match the weirdness and energy of Jojos. It onky gets more fabulous and bizzare from here.
JONATHAN MY BELOVED!!!! God I adore his pure spirit and he has the best theme in anime. We potentially might get an announcement for part 7’s anime soon and I can’t wait
Please do at least one video for each part! Would be wonderful to see you go through this bizarre adventure
The One Piece to Jojo pipeline. The exact reverse of my introduction to One Piece. I was a massive fan of Jojo before I got into One Piece
Real
yes part 1 is really good, peak manga
So glad to hear your love for the first part. As you pointed out people saying it "gets good" after the first part is due to what the series becomes post part 3. I love phantom blood for what it is, straight up good vs evil
Jojos is such a unique piece of art. It’s just something to be enjoyed for what it is. But also THE THEME SONGS GO SO HARD!
OMG SHES ON JOJO!! SHE LIKED PART 1 !!!
*Aggressively JoJo Pose*
I like part one, and please do a video for each part 😭! Since you understand what this show is, a BIZZARRE adventure, I think you’ll like most of the parts. I am worried about some tropes though, hopefully they don’t turn you off the show
Frog-punchingly good. It only gets better from here.
I’ve never understood people who thought part 1 was bad. I’ve been hooked on Jojo since episode 1.
Never in my life would I think that someone would call Jojo their comfort show but I respect it
I think you'll love part 2 and I'd like you to keep doing these segmented updates please.
I actually think Part 3 is where you're going to struggle the most
SONO CHI NO SADAME.......JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOJO'S and Merphy getting into this bizarre tale and adventure let's freaking go love to see it this series is a very beloved manga to me
more part by part vids please 🗣️
also imo JJBA does change a lot but it’s pretty gradual, especially when you remember this story has been going on for 37 years
I have been soooo waiting for this!
Also JJBA is my favorite anime I will never get tired of it!
Also yes every single part gets better and better. Part 5 is my personal favorite
PLEASE keep the reactions going! Fans give the disclaimer on part 1 bc most aren’t used to absurdism. Based on what you liked about Phantom Blood, you’ll love Battle Tendency.
The best thing about jojo is there is ton good memes too
Your next line is "wow you were so right part 2 is way better than part 1 and i totally dont miss Jonathan joestar"
Glad to see part 1 get some love
Please do a video on each part. Each part is unique and it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on each one.
You're going to have a hell of a time diving deep into this series.
I love absurdity and anime, and only managed to watch like 20 episodes of this show. it got too much even for me XD
Wishing you'll have all the fun with this bizzare show Merphy.
To me the craziest introduction in part 1 is jack the ripper.
The true genius of Araki is that he puts his characters first. What they do and how they do it always matters even if the story goes off the rails sometimes. And the characters only get better from part one.
Yeeeeeeesssss finally part 1 appreciation
"But no one is a bigger fanboy of JoJo, than Speedwagon"
I want to add to this by showing something the anime cut from the manga. When JoJo wins in the burning mansion and is in the hospital, Speedwagon thinks about how he lost everything and thinks the following:
"(Mr. Joestar) must be feeling the most absolute loneliness! There's no one to comfort his heart! And there's nothing I can do! I want to help him, no matter how little! Give him hope of living! Take his hand to transmit it to him, even if he is unconscious!"
And when Erina closes the door on him (that doesen't happen in the anime) he thinks she's a nurse and tells her:
"Hey, wait! Open the door! You can take care of his health, I don't care! It's his heart I'm worried! He needs someone to cheer him up!"
He's literally the best friend ever 🥹🥹🥹
