So that means, if Abacchio hadn't left for the boat then, Mista would have has no choice but to stay in a 4 man group (with Bruno, Giorno and Trish or fith Fugo, Abbacchio and Narancia). That would have probably killed him in the spot.
My favourite thing about Giorno, is that unlike every other JOJO is that he is the only protaganist who is proactive rather than reactive, which I always assumed to be something he inherited from Dio
It's kinda funny how popular Part 5 has become. Because back in the day it was considered one of the worse ones, if not the worst. It was mostly because we had a really bad scanlation, so like blurry images and weird translation.
Which is an unfair reason to judge the entire story itself by. Bad fan scanlations and bad fan translations. I wasn't around in the fandom during those dark days so when I personally got to it I just couldn't understand the hate part 5 apparently got. I thought it was absolutely fantastic.

I'm so glad you had a great take on Fugo staying behind. So many people are harsh on the character because THEY wanted him to join without being able to see things from his perspective. He's always treated like a traitor despite the fact that he felt betrayed first
The explanation I got for King Crimson ist that he makes the whole universe experience lag while he is the only one with high speed internet, so he can solely decide the outcome during the lag while everyone else just experiences a quick glitch. Like if you're in an online game and see a shot coming your way, so you move out of the way, but suddenly you're dead anyway.
The anime is a blessing for this part, unfortunately Araki’s concepts for some stands simply outstretched his ability to portray it in manga form but works perfectly well in motion.
Giorno is genuinely my favorite JoJo, which is generally a weird take, but I just love how subtle he is as a character. In such a maximalist show a character whose primary traits are quite subtle is really refreshing. Like... he's a combination of Jonathan and Dio's character traits, with some of his own sprinkled in. That's super interesting. It also makes for a very quiet character, which is also very interesting to me. Idk i like him.

Bruno Bucciarati is definitely the mom of the gang. That's probably why he's my favorite "Jobro" from of all the parts so far (Speedwagon is a close second haha).
I'd say Part 4 is my favorite, but just remembering the scenes with the video made me emotional. Every single character moment in part 5 is just so raw and real, this part just made me a mess 😭
I just love that out of all the JoBros Speedwagon's "Best Waifu" tittle and Bruno's "Best Mom" tittle is universally accepted in the fandom. Also look forward to the Metallica fight and GER. 😊
Read Purple Haze Feedback, noww!!! This book (non-canon, but illustrated by Araki himself) does such a good job driving into Fugo's psychology, and it's so much fun to read.
Another small thing about the boat scene that usually goes under the radar is that when Mista is giving his reasoning to going on the boat he tells Giorno directly that Bruno is the type of person that knows what he’s doing as if convincing him just in case he has some hesitance since he’s new to the crew
Honestly Merphy becoming an anime/manga fan has been one of the best things that’s happened to my feed in years. It’s really reinvigorated my love for the genre and jump started my immersion into one piece purely off her enthusiasm alone.

Seeing you already made part 2... KO you guessed at the end something most people did not understand as clearly until it was explained later. I am rather impressed with that.
my fave fight is the train, mostly because I love Pesci and Prosciutto, I love their dynamic and I love how they seemingly have a toxic relationship only for it turn out to be extremely wholesome in its twisted way, i also love the twist that pesci is the true villain of that 'arc' as he devleops from a weak, foolish joke into a formidable and dangerous foe.
Watching and understanding Part 5 was a whole different thing. Without understanding what fate is to JoJo universe any part is like watching a movie with blindfolds. You will get it especially last episodes.
I think one of the craziest things about Jojo Part 5 is how lethal it is. Other than Bruno vs Giorno and the Gang vs Mario Zucchero (the boat fight) every fight afterwards has always ended in a death for someone. It really sells the whole mafia warfare idea when someone will more than likely die at the end of a confrontation.
The number 4 in Japanese is very often treated like the number 13 in English. In its original reading it sounds like the word for "death". This superstition is such a thing that they usually read the number number 4 as "yon" instead of "shi"

I do love when people appreciate Abbcchio's character 🥲 he's my favourite and a lot of people watching part 5 just hate him for hating on Giorno (while he's absolutely right to hate on him lmao)
The art direction in the animated version of this part is amazing. The location art is so true to life and the use of gunshot sound effects for punches really add to the gangster feel. Slow start, with only a few great battles (the train arc was dope), but awesome finish. Hot take, but 7 page muda > road roller.
Part 5 has my favorite stand battles in the series. It really feels like Araki has figured Stands out and is just firing on all cylinders. I'm so glad you called out Grateful Dead+Beach Boy and the White Album fights. Those are my favorites in all of Jojo with Grateful Dead+Beach Boy being number one. I completely agree on how great Mista and Bruno were as characters in that fight but also how well the antagonists are developed and characterized. Part 5 still has 1 more of my favorite stand fights of the series that you haven't gotten to yet but I really think all of the fights in Part 5 are on another level. Not that future parts don't also have great fights, there's plenty of amazing peaks to come, but for me, when people ask what I like about Part 5, though there are many reasons, I always start with, "It has the best stand fights in the series imo."
Araki drawing old characters in his new art style is pretty wild. Slim Jonathan is nearly unrecognizable. Part 5 has some inconsistencies, but I love the ensemble cast. It’s also great to see more confident/established Stand Users go at it.
Jojo does something which a lot of shonen don't which is it usually makes the mc the coolest good guy character. Part 5 is similar to series who have a badass sidecharacter who steals the show in Bruno (like Levi,Gojo,Yami, All Might whoever...) as well as having a solid cast that plays equal parts in winning
Its like what Jotaro once said to Josuke, no ability of a stand can bring the dead back to life. I'm so excited for you to see the rest of Part 5, I just know you will be thoroughly excited for a specific reason.
Merphy when you will get to part 7 100% read it in color because 1.there's no official translation yet meaning that scans in b/w are bad quality. 2.coloring of the part 7 is absolutely gorgeus later. At first it's rough but soon enough it turns into the mist beautiful colored manga you will ever see in your life.
Fun fact: JoJo chapter 514, (Part 5 chapter 75) White Album Part 6 (The part of the Ghiacchio fight where Giorno slams his hand to reveal the ice in the air) was released in July 19th 1997, alongside the first chapter of a rather peculiar manga about a rubber boy who wanted to be the pirate king called One Piece.
@@figo5862 That tends to happen when you have a 10 year lead on it lmao, but one piece has been slowly catching up since JoJo went monthly in 2003, and it will prob pass it in a few years
14:40 okay this might be for the bit, but technically the parts Giorno makes are only temporarily seperate. They take time to heal and be accepted by the body, but eventually it'll be like nothing happened.
You're correct about the era thing There're 3 eras Era 1 is 1, 2, and 3 Era 2 is 4, 5, and 6 And our current era 7, 8, and 9 Most people believe pt9 will likely be the last part Oh yah, and pt7 is currently being animated
The One Piece manga started with the end of episode 19 here right after the Ghiaccio fight in 1997. Yes - right after the guy with the Devil Fruit hair
despite part 5 not being my favorite (dont get me wrong i still like it a lot, just not as much as the others), bucciaratti is my absolutely favorite jojos character, he is just the biggest bro ive ever seen, the mom of the group with a heart of gold and also an absolute badass using his stand in the most creative and exciting ways, total mvp of this part for me.
I dont know if you noticed but with Mista's Stand, not only is the number 4 skipped but the numbers bully Number 5 because he is the 4th one and a coward representing his phobia.
Golden Wind is my least favorite, but I always love to see Merphy's overwhelming positivity and it makes me want to give it another shot. Maybe I'll listen to the intro and outros and skip everything else in between, that could be good.
I've watched all the other parts many times. But I've only seen part 5 once. I'm going though it again with a friend and I think it's absolutely worth it to go through and really see if maybe things will have changed once you see the small details or if you still feel the same way. Definitely give it a rewatch
Ghiaccio, the ice guy’s rant about people mispronouncing Italian words was one of the most random and best introductions to a character’s persona. I also think he is one of my favorites in this season.
Do you remember Hinrigh from Hunter x Hunter? Guy got a lot of coverage the last few chapters, which has been a huge reference to JJBA in a lot of ways. His ability is more or less Giornos.
Giorno is my favorite! I think it's really special that he's as kind and righteous as he is despite being Dio's son, having an upbringing similar to Dio's, and having never been loved in his life. On a lighter note, another fun quirk of his is how politely he speaks. It may not translate well to English, but he really sticks to formal speech patterns with the rest of the team and generally only slips into informal speech in highly stressful situations. This makes him disobeying orders and piping up with his own ideas even funnier because he's technically so polite about it. Abbacchio can be screaming at him, and Giono will be like, "I deeply appreciate your input on this situation. Respectfully, I disagree ."
Omg im so excited for her to finish part 5. This is definately my favorite part and I love how much she loves the characters and their relationships cause that is such a big part of what makes golden wind so great to me. And her investment in these characters is so nice to see
Part 5 is my favorite Part in JoJos so far, I love the gang, the stand fights and the funny moments. One thing I really enjoy is how hard they lean into the gangster element in the fights of this part, when they fight enemies they don’t just simply defeat/knock them out/incapacitate enemies and possibly become friends afterward which can be a common occurrence in anime. These are literally life and death battles where they’re fighting to survive basically every other episode or 3 and I enjoy that distinction. Araki does a great job in making this part feel like an old school mob/gangster movie at times
Part 5 is probably the most consistent part of Jojos although imo part 2 is the most endearing so its always between those two for which is my favorite.
Favorite part, jojo, and villain, just love it so much. Especially because it was the first part i watched while airing. Such a good time seeing everyone's reaction week by week, then netflix had to kill our jojo fridays in part 6
Part 5 is my personal favourite, and I’ll say it only gets better and better as you move onto the second half, in fact that’s kinda the case for most parts as things just get crazier and even more fun! So I’m looking forward to see how you react to the end! Also, as to why Giorno is considered the least favourite of all the jojo’s is mainly due to the fact that part 5 is really about the whole crew rather than just giorno, he often takes a back seat while the others have their time to shine, with each of them having fantastic moments and shining like their own main characters. Some have even described him as the support of the group with Bruno taking the leading role. I’ve never had an issue with it though and I love them all!
"I'm nervous for my family" as brutal as part 5 is, the found family is so strong... and it might be my favorite part. Giorno is my second favorite Jojo after Joseph which is so impressive
yes part 5 !! this part is my absolute favourite and i’m glad that you are enjoying it as well. your analysis on fugo’s boat scene also made me like him even more. i would prefer if there’s more showcase of his ability before sending him off tho.
One thing I do love about this part is how it’s informed by real world stuff. Despite the inherent weirdness JoJo’s has Araki still tries to add in bits of real world stuff into his series to kinda balance that out. I find it interesting that Abacchio’s backstory involves the corruption of the Italian police by the Mafia, which is a real thing Italy still deals with to this day. Also I love the tension, the danger, and the urgency this part has. This group of found family just being forced on the run and having to fend for their lives. Reminds me a lot of water 7/Enies Lobby in that way.
Part 5 pretty much immediately became my favourite when I first watched it. I have loved ones who've struggled with substance abuse so especially as a tween Giorno's dream really connected with me, and the androgynous designs of most of the cast made them all super relatable as a queer person figuring themselves out. I know Part 7 is definitely the best written and the genre it pulls from is one of my favourites but Part 5 hit me at just the right time, so it's gotta be my favourite.
the skipping ahead on the timeline of a youtube video is a good analogy for King Crimson, but i also want to add that it has the caveat that the person being skipped does not remember the portion that got skipped either, so they do not remember what they were doing in between the portion of time that was erased. also bruno seeing himself instead of the boss is part of what confuses people about how king crimson works :3
What I also love about Giorno is the detail that he is the first protagonist to move the plot by himself. Every other JoJo has reacted to the villain directly harming their status quo somehow, but Giorno decides that he wants to start his journey himself after seeing what the Mafia does to his hometown. He has his own ambitions, or "dreams" I guess, which he lets everyone know (just that he conveniently leaves out that he wants to be the new boss of Passione). That's why he's so stubborn when he's supposed to follow orders he doesn't agree with, like Abbacchio's. Personally, I relate to that a lot.
@@rickmel-q7m Well, it's not directly harming him or any of his loved ones, right? He chooses to get involved while the other JoJos get dragged into the conflict.
@@rickmel-q7m Dude, I‘m just saying he’s the one to take action. Diavolo isn‘t threatening the safety of Giorno specifically or any of his friends. He‘s just being generally evil. If you look at Jonathan, he was forced to fight Dio because he was constantly attacking him, his girlfriend, his dog, his dad, etc. He was just reacting to Dio‘s antics. Joseph got a deadly ring implanted in him that he had to get rid of, and before that he was just being attacked by Straizo and tried to rescue Speedwagon. Jotaro? His mom was dying, he had to do something. Josuke? Wasn’t trying to get involved, but Angelo forced his hand. Same with Kira. Giorno is the first one to start this battle on his own terms. No one in Passione even knows he exists, except for Luca who was quickly killed by him. Bucciarati coming in to investigate wasn’t planned, but Giorno’s request to join him was what really got the ball rolling, he actively used the opportunity for ambitions that aren’t directly forced on him. He wasn’t clapping back, he was planning a whole revolution. He actively killed Polpo not out of self-Defense, but because he think he deserved it after he was already part of the Mafia and in the clear. And he was the one who nudged Bucciarati to get close to the boss and gave him the strength to revolt against Diavolo.
@@geschnitztekiste4111 you seem to be misremembering a lot of things, since giorno was attacked by a goon in the middle of episode 1 (and was then attacked by bruno at the end of it) the pillar men only attacked joseph because he tried to stop them... it's not like they traveled all the way to the US to hunt him down or something red hot chilly pepers didn't want to fight josuke and co, which is why he kept trying to intimidate jotaro into leaving the city (since he was afraid of getting beaten by him) and only directly attacked them after they insisted on going after him i also don't remember kira going after any of josuke's friends before they started looking for him.
i started watching jojo 2 months ago and part 5 is my favourite.
Viz is going to release the part 7 english manga next year.
NO DO NOT READ IT IN COLOR WTF
Seriously though the color scans look genuinely awful until like chapter 20
26:06 Then that means the Boss is doing a solid job of keeping his identity a secret. :v
You just reminded me that this series has more pages than one piece
@@figo5862 That tends to happen when you have a 10 year lead on it lmao, but one piece has been slowly catching up since JoJo went monthly in 2003, and it will prob pass it in a few years
GOLDEN WIND!!! people say this is peak jojo...
I have literally never heard that take but it is probably my favorite part lol
@@cjsdizzy you never heard it coz of star ocean and steel ball run...
cjsdizzy It's the most popular/favored Part in Japan.
Giorno is my favorite GioGio honestly lol
Definitely my favorite part, steel ball run is close, if they didn’t botch sandman’s character it might be my favorite
Hope she reads part 7 might take a bit to be animated
YEEEEEESSSSS MY FAVORITE PART!! With my favorite main cast, minor villains, main antagonist!
If you are interested in Fugo, he has his own light novel called People Has Feedback, which takes place after part 5. But it isn't authored by Araki.
After you finish part 5, you should definitely check out Purple Haze Feedback.
14:40 okay this might be for the bit, but technically the parts Giorno makes are only temporarily seperate. They take time to heal and be accepted by the body, but eventually it'll be like nothing happened.
Part 5 has my favorite Jobro cast, some of my all time favorite stands and stand battles AND my favorite opening songs. FIGHTING GOOOLD!!
I can rewatch part 5 over and over! Also I LOVE MISTA!!! 😚
You're correct about the era thing
There're 3 eras
Era 1 is 1, 2, and 3
Era 2 is 4, 5, and 6
And our current era 7, 8, and 9
Most people believe pt9 will likely be the last part
Oh yah, and pt7 is currently being animated
Its kinda funny to hear how jarring the new art style is for you, because in manga the art changes like 3 times in every part
If you want to see what happened to Fugo after part 5, you should definitely read Purple Haze Feedback!
Thanks again for making these ! It’s been so fun watching you in your jojo journey !
The One Piece manga started with the end of episode 19 here right after the Ghiaccio fight in 1997.
Yes - right after the guy with the Devil Fruit hair
Merphy x JoJo's is always an instant click for me!
despite part 5 not being my favorite (dont get me wrong i still like it a lot, just not as much as the others), bucciaratti is my absolutely favorite jojos character, he is just the biggest bro ive ever seen, the mom of the group with a heart of gold and also an absolute badass using his stand in the most creative and exciting ways, total mvp of this part for me.
I dont know if you noticed but with Mista's Stand, not only is the number 4 skipped but the numbers bully Number 5 because he is the 4th one and a coward representing his phobia.
they could never make me hate pt.5
I want to be a Gang-STAR ⭐️🙆🏻♀️
This part reminds me so much of part 3. A group going on an high stakes adventure, it’s so strong. I hope you enjoy the second half!!
Part 5 is my 2nd favorite. Part 3 on top
Personally, I relate to that a lot.
the mafia ruining his town IS messing with his status quo though
@@rickmel-q7m Well, it's not directly harming him or any of his loved ones, right? He chooses to get involved while the other JoJos get dragged into the conflict.
@@geschnitztekiste4111 have you ever lived in a town for more than 5 years..?
@@geschnitztekiste4111 you seem to be misremembering a lot of things, since giorno was attacked by a goon in the middle of episode 1 (and was then attacked by bruno at the end of it)
the pillar men only attacked joseph because he tried to stop them... it's not like they traveled all the way to the US to hunt him down or something
red hot chilly pepers didn't want to fight josuke and co, which is why he kept trying to intimidate jotaro into leaving the city (since he was afraid of getting beaten by him) and only directly attacked them after they insisted on going after him
i also don't remember kira going after any of josuke's friends before they started looking for him.
i started watching jojo 2 months ago and part 5 is my favourite. I love Giornio sm, hes so baby gurl and hes a charecter i try to look up to in way cos hes brilliant, gorgeous, has an unshable resolve, hes caring, hes clean, hes charismatic- Basically all things i wish to be even tho hes 15 and im actually18🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I love how Mista manages to shoot himself more than he shoots the enemy
Seeing this uploaded highlighting my explanation ON MY BIRTHDAY OF ALL DAYS... I imagine this is how Dio felt the moment he learned Jonathan had a furnace ❤
Think part 5 is my favorite, from the characters, to the story, to Music. Man I love Goirno’s theme! Gets me every time! 🎶🎷
