Hey Kat! Something I just started doing about a month ago is sharing my EBay listings to Pinterest! When you've finished the listing on eBay, it gives you the option to SHARE the listing to your social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.). It may be a coincidence, only time will tell, but my sales increased A LOT since I started sharing to Pinterest. For now, I'm experimenting with just the Pinterest thing, but I may expand to FB and Insta if my sales continue to go up. Also, sharing to these platforms does NOT mean relisting to the sites so it's SUPER easy......sharing just shows a photo and a description right out of the eBay listing....then if the viewer clicks on the photo of the item, it takes them straight to the listing on eBay. Hope this tip may help someone!!
Ohhhh I just started sharing to pintrest when I'm putting them on poshmark and tumbler which I don't even really know what it is HAHAHAHAH hopefully my sales will go up!
@@doubletakefindsthrift that’s a great tip. Pinterest advertises on google which would definitely get more attention and you can eliminate the ridiculous charges eBay costs to advertise on google. Thanks for sharing! Nurse if you haven’t already Id put this into your next video 😀
Hi Kat congratulations on no longer having a death pile. The last time I watched your channel you were doing an honest reveal of your overwhelming death pile and multiple trailers/storage shed of sourced inventory. Im happy to see you have conquered that issue. I’ll keep watching and just subscribed ❤
@@TheNurseFlipper I think targeted sales are the way to go. I notice I get a lot more offers. Which some sellers say boosts your item’s place in the pile 😆
I have just been pricing my items for what I think is right- BUT- I'd actually considered doing the *mark up, then sale* thing because I know people like sales, etc.... Now I think maybe I shouldn't 🤔 I'm super new to selling online, btw. I have 1 booth in an antique store, that's where I was talking about the mark-up-sale thing. Kat, I always wished you'd talked more about Etsy- whylat you liked/didn't like, why you left, etc. My little shop is on Etsy.
Grateful for you and this channel! Still new in my reseller journey and have been watching lots of different RUclips channels on reselling (you probably have seen my name pop up in your comments a few time times recently), but I have to say… you’ve become one of my top 3 favorite channels about reselling and I really appreciate your candid honesty and the fact that you try to respond to all your comments. Thank you again for all of your help and for being supportive of all of us at different stages of our journeys!
I include my purchase price, list date and lowest sales price in my sku so running sales and accepting offers are easier. I tend to buy low and sell at the higher end to allow that wiggle room for sales and offers. The goal is to get my listings to 1000 pcs by August and then start cross posting by 4th quarter. It works for now. I agree we always have to be willing to change and test new ideas to continue to grow. In addition, I watch sellers I like, such as you to keep myself educated. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
@thepickinpeacock hey friend!! may I make a friendly suggestion? I heard from a Reseller YT'r that it was important to put the actual item name earlier in the title, rather than lots of description of the item, then actual item at the end of title. Example: Disney 2000 NWT Exclusive Mickey Mouse Fantasia Popcorn Bucket... would show up in search better as: Disney Popcorn Bucket NTW Mickey Mouse Fantasia 2000 Exclusive
@@laurieblanchard1171 Thanks I will work on that. I really need for focus on the first few words of my title being key words so it will boost my items to the front of the search.
@@laurieblanchard1171 Thank you for the sound advice. I am revamping titles now. I am always open to helpful information. Funny thing is I have heard the same advice before, but it did not sink in until you pointed it out about my listings. I have been relying on sells similar titles when listing and adding to but not really paying attention to the order in which they were worded. Goal is to revamp at least 10 -15 listing titles a day. Thanks for the helpful advice.
Thanks for sharing that! I’m new so I didn’t want to invest in software to keep track of things. I think putting it in the sku (that’s only for your eyes, right?) is a fabulous idea!
I chose not to pass the shipping discount on to my buyers because I sell one-off vintage items. The discount helps pay for the shipping supplies, and because my items are mostly unusual or hard-to-find if someone wants it, then they are going to pay shipping for it. However, if there the discrepancy between the actual cost and my cost is >$5, I refund the buyer automatically. Thanks for all your videos and for your transparency. It is all so helpful!
That makes sense we do a lot of one off as well, but I figured worth a try to see if there's a difference in sales, but I'm not seeing much so I might revert back at the end of the month
I followed your lead, a few videos back, where you decided to only buy items worth $25 or more. I can't believe how much stuff I pass up now that I would have cluttered up with. To help sales during the slowdown, I am taking lower priced items from my inventory and marrying them with others. For example, I took a pretty wooden box and some chess men who were not selling, and made a listing combined listing, "chess pieces in vintage box" and it sold for $25! I took a bunch of unmatched kitchen utensils, that weren't selling by themselves, and made a lot of 5, and it sold quickly for $25.
The biggest change I made is I stopped buying anything without labels or marks and anything that needs repair or has flaws. I have 3500 listings so I don't need more inventory and have no room to store more items. My focus now is on moving 2X product with OTL's and discounted shipping.
I switched my shipping discount before the deadline. The best thing I did . I do add a few more ozs & it has been the exact amount they pay . I have gotten more sales . I also send more offers to my watchers . I usually get about 5 listings during the 48 hrs they are allowed. I list more every day . I just recently did sell by similar on old listing I didn’t realize they were a yr old . I have sold some old listings . So now every month I will end listings Jan . 2024 etc I have lowered prices on my old listings. I have also changed priority to ground advantage on my old listings
I have definitely been making changes overtime, because my goal was to Declutter my house and now I’m at the crossroads, so all of your videos have been very helpful thank you
You always have been my go to for advise. I started up 2 years ago and am eager to keep growing. I am starting today going to offer the shipping discount to my buyers. Hope it works out for both of us. Best! KP
Hi Kat, I started selling on ebay about 2 years ago. A couple of months ago I started giving my customers my ebay shipping discount. I'm glad I did. When I first started I was afraid that I might mess up calculating postage and lose money but now I'm confident enough with my shipping and it's been great!
Thanks for your authenticity Kat!!! I don’t run sales anymore either. I bought a shirt for $5 that was worth about $80. I sold for $70 in one day. I agree with you.
Im up to 10 whole sales on Ebay and 2 on Mercari in about 6 weeks. Started with some clothes but theu dont seem to be moving so now doing more retail arbitrage. But you are the first person I started watching.
Thank you for sharing. I have been adding more promotion to some of my listings. I also try to have some high traffic items on my shop. Hopefully that helps too.
Yes I think that helps and I used to try to always have a auction or two running at all times, but haven't done that in a while. I think that brings traffic as well, so maybe I'll start doing that again too!
This was a very well thought out plan of action. It made me think of two things. First, although it would have been nice to measure each change with the change in metrics, it seems like if you’re changing how/why your buying patterns change right now, that this is a potentially good time to make big moves. Second, although I love the reseller panels live show, it might be interesting for the panel to answer questions/comments/concerns from each other. Most of your guests have a deep knowledge bank. Maybe we could all learn from the situations or questions y’all are wondering about how others would have handled it or their perspective. Thanks for sharing.
I pass along the shipping discount but add a $1.00 handling fee, and that really helped. $1 adds up and helps pay for the shipping supplies without it making shipping too high for the customer. I was never able to justify keeping the large discount for myself. However, I also realized I needed to make a little extra to help offset actual shipping supply costs.
I just took some denim jackets up to my sewing room. It's CHAOS up there. I feel like I have lost where I was heading in what's left of my life. I HATE all this stuff I bought. I keep lowering prices. Nobody wants it. It's preventing me from doing the creative projects I am longing to do. I am so fed up. So yeah, a change is gonna come. It might be a bonfire in the backyard but something is damn well going to happen and soon. 🔥🔥🔥
I went through the list tonight and look at median sale prices. I am just flat out still overpriced. I really don't even care about the money anymore. It started out as a plan to declutter and it took a strange turn.
I put stuff on sale that I've had for a bit or I just don't want to have in my store anymore. Mostly stuff I bought when I first started and watched a different content creator. Lol.
Great information. I’m was with you, I always price up and then sent offers or sales, but that doesn’t seem to be buyers focus now. I too stopped buying lots, slowly the auction houses have to changed the how they build lots. One or two great things in a box of duds. I’m going to try a few of your ideas, as I know you’re thoughtful and you always do your research.
Yes, been making some adjustment in the last couple of months as well. Have been doing clusters of ending and sell similar almost daily and today just launched a Christmas in July sale. Hopefully this jives the algorithm a little. Sale are happening but definitely a little slower since July 1st. - Thanks again Kat for a wonderful educational and informative video!
I do end and sell similiar daily as well. It is part of my morning routine. I try to do at least 50 per day and then make sure I re-link them with LP so my auto de list works LOL
@@TheNurseFlipper Sure wish I could use LP but sadly it is not available to Canada for Poshmark Canada and Etsy Canada. Hopefully this will come some day! ;-)
Hi. I sell vintage on Etsy but enjoy watching your channel. Still ideas to learn from. Thank you. I never understood the buying low (and selling low). If I for example pick up a 3$ item and sell it for 18 I made (revenue) 15$ (time 6). If I pick up a 15$ item and sell it for 60$ (time “only” 4) I made 45$. Same work sourcing, photographing, listing and packing (unless one is an item like glass😬). Why do so many not think it’s better. On RUclips I see so many people sourcing and saying no to paying a dollar or two more for items that are so much more valuable. I just don’t understand. I have an average of timed by 7 from my buying price. Some are high profits some not. So I work on upping that number and higher revenue per order. Thanks.
I sell vintage on Etsy also, been at it about a year. Started by declutterring my house and have sold 95% of my personal items. Went to thrifting and estate sales to supplement my inventory. Like you, I don’t get those RUclips sellers buying a $4-10 item to sell for $12!! Since I learned to recognize higher quality better brands, I shoot for 10x investment and my purchasing and shipping costs have gone way down and profits way up. Love getting that deposit in my checking account every week ☺️
Being on Etsy, my buyers have always had the shipping discount, I just build the supplies into my item cost and it seems to work well. I usually run a quarterly sale and interestingly enough, I get more sales "after" the quarterly sale. I do offer a coupon to repeat buyers and that seems to work well. I am excited to start using LP and expanding!! I have also cut back on auction lots as well. I prefer to curate higher end items or specific items now.
I buy items low, so I always have a great deal of wiggle room. I use calculated shipping and don't pass the discount on, mostly because I get a great deal of best offers made, so I feel like they are happy they don't have issues with the shipping fee. I also tend to price items on the lower end of normal, unless it's a rare item
I do run sales, in different categories at different times according to how heavy my inventory is in a particular area. I also run storewide sales for a couple days, every couple of months. I try to price my items "midpack" all of the time to avoid bringing out the extreme lowballers during sales, and just accept that I may not turn as big a profit on every single item as I would like. Personally, I think this is a small price to pay. As long as I don't lose money, I'm okay with smaller margins in return for more visibility and more gross sales. I have a small store but my sell through rate is quite good so it seems to be working for now. I think the key is do exactly what you're doing right now and just remain flexible. Oh the other thing I do is purchase things that I know I can sell. I don't waste time with things I am not fairly certain I can sell. If I buy a lot, which I do now and then, I buy lots that I know I will list at least 90% of. I stick with things I know and steer clear of stuff that I don't. More is not always better.
I appreciate your candor. All good info for consideration. Among changes I’ve made is to open a second Etsy store so I can employ different marketing strategies for the 2 very different categories of merch. I’ve had the eBay store for several years and I don’t think I’ve ever found my groove. It winds up being a catch all for odd stuff in the lots I bought just to get the good items. Sounds like you know that story well.
I think my problem is that I feel like I have to save everything because someone can use it... It's so hard to break that mind set for me. I'm still working on it. I did stop selling big stuff due to the storing of the supplies and the item and the time it takes to pack it. That has helped a lot but I still need to make many many changes. I think you can still buy lots to bulk up with limited space.. Just get smalls. Jewelry/scarves/small collectibles/ephemera
Thanks for the info. I have been gradually listing more items in my Etsy shop. I have a antique mall booth for large items. I also have a eBay store but haven't listed anything in years. It was when they started charging fees on postage. I didn't feel it was fair since I offer free shipping. Learning a lot at Death Pile Destruction.
So with free shipping you were always being charged fees on it because you include it in the purchase price. I understand why they did it having been around eBay since the beginning, people were selling things for 99 cents and doing $50 in shipping so they avoided fees, hence eBay caught on and to stop it started charging fees on the shipping. How are etsy sales going for you?
@@TheNurseFlipper Etsy sales? What's that? In the last thirty days I've had 230 views and 177 visits Usually This time of year I have 3;or 4 sales a week. This year nada. Can't understand it.
I have shelving space at a local antique shop and June sales were awful!! I bought a small shelf that was perfect for miniatures so I added minis to my booth and they are selling (price points of $2-3 bucks each!) I also slashed prices on items that have sat for so long; with red sharpie (rather than new written tags which is what the store prefers to deter fraudulent pricing) and put a new lower price beside old and people are buying these items that have sat for months! When I had a 20% off sale things weren’t moving. Maybe it’s the crossed out price and seeing the new lower price… it’s better than removing these items and taking a complete loss. So far it’s working for month of July! Miniatures and Slashed prices! 😁
I use targeted sales based on the age of a listing. I use the store categories to keep track of the age of a listing so you don’t lose that when you end and relist. For instance . Everything I’m listing this month has a store sub catagory of 072024. That way when I want to run a sale on anything over a year old I run the sale by selecting that date category.
Every Monday I run a one week discount based on number of days on the site. It is pretty simple with 7 tiers from 10 to 40 percent every 5%. Takes about 10 minutes to set up every week. The number of items does not matter since it is a bulk process but we do maintain about 1400 items.
It's always good to shift & change as we grow in business & in knowledge! Thanks for sharing! I have a handful of things listed on Grailed & have sold a very bare minimum, but what I think deters the customer now, is that you can only use their shipping & it is atrocious! You don't weigh, they do it by what the item is. A designer tie I listed cost $9 to ships & coats cost I think $25. Also Etsy, just this past week has up their shipping to a 1 lb minimum. As I was listing, it kept showing me in red that the Lbs section had to have a value. I thought it was a glitch for the day, so just saved them as drafts, but it has continued this whole past week. Just wanted to give you a heads up in case you are listing lighter weight items less than 1 lb.
Ohhhh thank you that's really good to know. The jewelry will definitely be affected. It sucks though cause that's like a 3 or 4 dollar difference. That's ridiculous on grailed shipping!!!
@@amy-betharnette9754 I have used Etsy for years & I will always put 0 in the lbs if it's less, but it said value could not be less than 1. I am going to reach out to them if it remains the same this week as to why this change.
@@TheNurseFlipper true enough! And yes sometimes I lose on some bigger items. And those zones can be costly as well. But for the most part not a problem. I also tell my customers in my feedback to them I passed on the eBay discount. It is good marketing and customer relations.
Boy am I chatty tonight! I also use ground advantage USPS only. If I am worried about a piece I will insure it for $1.70. Much cheaper than priority. I also finally started adding a handling fee for glass and big items, not for clothes, Have to pass on some of the cost of bubble wrap and the time it takes. I buy pool noodles in bulk to ship art and glass. The dollar store here in MA sells them very cheap.
@@uncommonthrifts oh that's a good idea I'll put thought to. Ground advantage has $100 insurance like priority does. We do also use mainly ground as well
I have sold on Etsy for years. I sell mostly higher end vintage jewelry. Things have really dropped off sales wise. I do sell on Mercari and Posh but sales seem slow there as well. I am on a break for the summer but will try selling on eBay when I get back. It makes sense that there is a larger audience there and I will see if sales improve.
Kat, you could set up a new store category for sale items and then move the items there in bulk and run the sale just on that store category (please note I only started in January, so that may not be a good idea). You could start 15% for one month, then 20% the next month, etc.

Good content thank you for sharing. I will be trying the 10 item one platform tip. I found out we can list 2k items a month if you have 1k isbn items. The title sucks but it sure helps get will fix it. I wish we could save a template to express lister to speed up the listings for the annoying item specifics.
Thank you for explaining and being willing to change. When you talking about not doing items under 25 dollars,it inspired me to not do anything under 15 in my store.I also see the value of letting items up to move them out. Now as I make sales I will include one of my small 23:27 low dollar delisted items as a free thank you gift.( Many I already got rid of.).I thinking about opening a.booth at a local indoor flea market. I will put clothing on sale because the low dollar cost of good.If a sale draws people in other items will sell. I'm also going through and listing items in the death pile and sourcing much less. I've been watching some small sellers on whatnot and I think I could do that. What do you think about promoting listings.? Do you use dynamic or a set amount?
Good luck with all these changes, it has been about a year or maybe a little over a year that I have started, I have about 640 listings and sales on eBay is very slow now. I am selling 90% jewelry and most of these are very high dollar value, so being slow is expected. Last year when I started I had about 14 pieces listed as standard promoted listings and totally forgot about it. Recently I added the “off site” click ad and then I thought to stop those 14 standard promoted ones but guess what for more than 10 days nothing not even one ridiculous offer that you frequently get, nothing then I started all my listings as promoted standard for 6% charge. Do you think this is a good idea, sorry for long question. Thanks so much for being so transparent and helping the new comers on eBay that helps a lot. I have learned a lot from you.
Love your content Kat! I keep a 15% off sale on eBay all the time. I figured if I pay 20% on Poshmark I can keep this sale year round. My sales have change significantly on eBay I believe because of the sale. I do offer specific item discounts. Interested to see how your changes work out
I’ve had a surprising uptick in sales and I have not done anything different. I don’t understand why because I usually do experience a summer slow down but I’ve noticed this summer is busier than usual. I’ve also had more organic sales than usual. I think maybe it’s because of inflation. More people are shopping online, including me. It’s also a hotter summer than usual so I think more people are staying home because of the heat and for financial reasons. It was 118 in Vegas today. I don’t want to be out in that!
It’s amazing that you put your ideas out for all of us see and explain your thoughts process behind your decisions. I would say 99% of entrepreneurs have a gambling gene 🧬. Let’s be honest, sometimes you have to be willing to risk for the biscuit, so they say. And you have to be willing to change and have an open to new ideas mentality to be a business owner. Well, to be a successful one anyways.
I am listing consistently and I ran a coupon. The coupon ended 2 days ago and I've had more sales today than i did in the last 3 days total. 🤷♀️😂 I was never a consistent lister and i had a death pile. Ive started listing 10 a day so my store has grown and my death pile is shrinking. Its a good feeling. When do you get to a point where youre selling as much as you list a day? Is there a way to predict that? I know that the items have to be good items and stuff like that. Great video. Its hard to change and I totally emphasize with that. ❤
@@TheNurseFlipper thank you for letting me know that. I list 10 a day and I sold 5 today so that sounds about right then. Maybe selling as much as I list is an impossible goal...
@tina_miss_da_meana you would just have to only pickup items with 100% sell thru rate or more which you can do but you would be picking up a lot less and listing a lot less unless you're in a very good sourcing area
I just started reselling less than two months ago and have profited over $1000 on 25 sales. I know that’s not a lot, but just now starting I’m okay with it. I have always done free shipping and I wonder if that’s what’s helped? I do Etsy though (vintage) I do eBay too and I believe only 8 sales but $500 profit. eBay is just so expensive with shipping. Etsy is so much cheaper. So it’s such a toss up on what platform. Poshmark I have actually lost money
eBay and etsy shipping is the same cost when I've compared. But etsy passes the shipping discount on to the buyer so you don't get anything off of that. Free shipping might help, but for me most items are 2 pounds or more, so for me I feel calculated shipping is the best option as it varies so much with me being in FL
Wonderful video. I have always passed my shipping discount to my buyers but add a $1 handling fee to compensate for some of the costs of shipping supplies and fees. I have a question- when you send out offers to buyers, do you allow counteroffers? Thanks.
I really need to set out time to complete my Ebay store setup. It is a bit confusing, though. I can't tell where the information will show up for sellers. Is there a video for setup you would recommend?
You don't have to do anything you just buy the store setup and you have a store, but you can choose to pick featured items (I don't do this a lot of times) and put a header up but that's not required. I don't think I've seen any videos on it though. To edit it go to the seller hub and click on store at the top and edit store.
I live in alaska and the shipping is a problem as far as cost so I post to craigs list to save on money. I have even looked for other resellers being my house is full of treasure and I am at the age for so much of it to leave home. I am open to suggestions and where to start as I would appreciate your help. Thanks for sharing what is going on with your business and you.😊😊😊😊😊😊
If items are on the more rare side I would try posting some on eBay and just do calculated shipping so the buyers bear the cost you might be surprised :-)
Hey Kat, I love your channel, lives and videos. I'm a retired nurse also. I had a question about the label printer and checked your links. What labels do you buy for shipping to go with the printers you show on the links? I wouldn't be printing stickers, just shipping labels. I will buy through your links when I buy. Thanks!
Question any tips for selling record albums, LPs? Places to sell them how to sell them. Do I put them multiple or you sell two at a time I think that fits in that box the cardboard box and they fit in there..
I have a question. If I pass the discount onto buyers, is that somehow “highlighted” on my store? I didn’t choose to stay in but I do give a shipping discount refund if there’s a big difference between what they paid and my cost.
I am not opted in for passing on the shipping discount. After the postal increase, i am considering opting in. Is there a way to only pass on a portion of the discount?
Just got my first dispute :( buyer said he did not receive the item & having accepted his low offer I did not go to the extra expence ( 5 euro ) to add a tracking number for a 15 euro profit. Is it wiser to not accept offers unless its worth adding a tracking number or is this buyer one in a million? as I feel most of my sales would not be sold at all.I am in my ist 25 sales .Thank you for all your info
I only ship with tracking and include that for my postage costs just for this reason, so i would add a handling fee to cover tracking if it's not included with your postage
Sturgis is coming up. I would try to get those pins sold for Harley Davidson. You said you were putting them on sale. I don’t know if if that helps people buy them faster as long as you’re making a profit right but just wanted to mention that people are getting their hardly gear ready and I think it’s the first weekend of August? Best wishes on that.
My only sourcing now is from rummage / church sales. I've found the most variety in one place and the biggest profit margin there. I am wondering - is there a way to offer 50% off on shipping? I'd be happy to do that.
Here in Denmark there are rules for having items on sale. The days it can be on sale is determined by how many days it has had the normal price. So no sale without a normal price. If it had a normal price for 30 days then it can be on sale for 15 days. Always half the days it has had a normal price. If it’s on sale often then the sale price will be considered the new normal price, and if a store then advertise a sale of 20% off it will be reduced from the new normal price. This is meant to not “cheat” customers by letting them think there is a sale when there really isn’t.
@@TheNurseFlipperwe have a “consumer council” and they keep watch and consumers can contact them and complain. They will bring cases to the police and some businesses have been fined. Consumers/customers have great power.

Sorry, another question. I downloaded and subscribed to list perfectly last week. I cannot get past the point where I can add which sites I also post on. I don't have an eBay store, I don't even know really what that is. When I spoke to Customer Service on the phone they said I'm too new at eBAY to consider having a store. I only have 220 items listed. Do you need a store to sell a ton more and make more money? How much merchandise do you need to list before considering this? Thanks. :)
The store doesn't help make more sales, just some added benefits like running sales.I normally recommend once over 250 listings get the starter store I think it's 5.99 or 9.99 a month :-)
I had to change because of my illness bacterial pneumonia kidney issues less work more time relaxing enjoying but I am older/ retired with stable pension/ss income as well other money streams interest generating accounts and such,, although I love selling items and getting the feedback that pairs a specific collectible with a collector,,,
I used to sell on Etsy, but I quit because there is no way to dispute anything with them. They were taking the majority of my profit. How and why do you deal with them?
I'm just trying higher dollar items and very few to start off until I see how it goes. I know a lot of people that etsy is their main platform and they love it though.
my change is I am going to seriously flip properties more with my wife yes buildings, houses, lots profits are huge and its not that difficult just bought a building under valued cleaned the weeds sweeping/painting almost ready to have my new agent list it for his hunch to nab a $40,000.00 profit in 6 months,, done it before and realised over $100,000.00 profit,,, closed my ebay as well other online platforms and set up a business LLC
Hi Kat, I’m a little confused. So you quit using list perfectly and now you and your mom are listing everything on all the sites individually? Isn’t that a much longer process? Just trying to learn here .
Huh? No I'm doing all the cross posting with List Perfectly as soon as listings are created. My mom is still cross posting older listings that were missed from the past few months.
Previously i just listed on ebay and my mom cross posted. So now that we're creating the listings in list perfectly i just put them out to all the platforms myself

This one shows different places to source online ruclips.net/video/0TTUVuUMW-U/видео.html and then this one shows how I use shop goodwill ruclips.net/video/pNYODoiHQ8c/видео.html I hope these help!
Totally agree on not increasing the price to allow for constant sales. The Rebel Reseller noted ( in a video sometime back) she started passing on the shipping savings and it had increased her sales - so I did it as well and it has increased ours. I don't work at it like y'all do-I'm retired-or was retired-went to work for an Estate Sale Company which I enjoy. But we keep plugging along. 😀 Thank you for sharing your ideas and plans.
We've realized that we are here to sell, not to "store." Whatnot has become our best friend once we realized that you really get what you put into it (ie we're not just doing eBay rejects--we're bringing better stuff.) I still love eBay and still am bringing in significant income there, but we like watching our WN go up and honestly look forward to the day that maybe eBay is just for REALLY out there stuff.
HI I have over 3000 items listed and what I did was starting in June I i raised my sale percentage and my sales on every item and my sales took off I noteced the older listing are selling alot I also collect lience plates but I dont list those can you send me your linkj to your ebay store and I look at the plates you have listed I think I will leave thee discount high for aug and bring it down a bit in 4th quarter thanks

Ah you'll have to keep me updated. I'm open to offers on everything but don't hesitate to decline if they're so low i don't think we'll meet at a price for both of us
I think sales are important but no one is fooled by a 35% off sale when the price then matches other items. I’ve never understood this method. Running a much more reasonable sale of 10% off still makes people feel like they’re getting a bargain. That’s basic consumer psychology.
I share all my ebay on a fb page for my ebay store and it helps get traffic. I made the fb page the same as my seller name.
Yeah we haven't had a death pile in close to a year now 🙃
I just thrifted my daughter an Anne Klein dress, with tag over a hundred dollars. Got it for a dollar.
Nice great pickup! I love picking up stuff for myself and the family for cheap!
I love doing that!
Big kudos to you Kat for bagging the inflated pricing/sale thing.
It's so much nicer to not have to worry about if the sale is on yet etc
@@TheNurseFlipper I think targeted sales are the way to go. I notice I get a lot more offers. Which some sellers say boosts your item’s place in the pile 😆
@@uncommonthrifts yes!
I have just been pricing my items for what I think is right- BUT- I'd actually considered doing the *mark up, then sale* thing because I know people like sales, etc....
Now I think maybe I shouldn't 🤔
I'm super new to selling online, btw. I have 1 booth in an antique store, that's where I was talking about the mark-up-sale thing.
Kat, I always wished you'd talked more about Etsy- whylat you liked/didn't like, why you left, etc. My little shop is on Etsy.
@@nathanortiz3671 are you researching to price where the market price is?
Grateful for you and this channel! Still new in my reseller journey and have been watching lots of different RUclips channels on reselling (you probably have seen my name pop up in your comments a few time times recently), but I have to say… you’ve become one of my top 3 favorite channels about reselling and I really appreciate your candid honesty and the fact that you try to respond to all your comments. Thank you again for all of your help and for being supportive of all of us at different stages of our journeys!
You're welcome I'm happy to help 😊
Lots and lots of great tips and takes! Thanks so much for sharing :)
You're welcome, hope you're doing well Margaret!
Thanks for posting this video, Kat. We all learn from your content.
My pleasure!
Sounds like you have a solid plan in place which is great! I appreciate you watching!
We are so excited to see how this new workflow changes your business! 😍
Yes! Thank you!
Ohhhh great idea for sure!
The biggest change I made is I stopped buying anything without labels or marks and anything that needs repair or has flaws. I have 3500 listings so I don't need more inventory and have no room to store more items. My focus now is on moving 2X product with OTL's and discounted shipping.
Otl?
I pass the shipping along as well. As a longtime eBay shopper turned reseller - high shipping is always the biggest reason for my abandoned carts!
Very true! That makes sense for sure
Love this video! Thanks Kat. I’ve been retraining my brain too and buying higher priced items instead of what I’d usually pick up. Less is more now.
Yes that's the key!
I have definitely been making changes overtime, because my goal was to Declutter my house and now I’m at the crossroads, so all of your videos have been very helpful thank you
You got this! I need to de clutter the house some and get some stuff listed from here!
Me too…selling my life’s accumulation.
You always have been my go to for advise. I started up 2 years ago and am eager to keep growing. I am starting today going to offer the shipping discount to my buyers. Hope it works out for both of us. Best! KP
Best of luck! I am having great sales, but with changing so much up I'm not sure the exact reason LOL but I'm not complaining!
Hi Kat, I started selling on ebay about 2 years ago. A couple of months ago I started giving my customers my ebay shipping discount. I'm glad I did. When I first started I was afraid that I might mess up calculating postage and lose money but now I'm confident enough with my shipping and it's been great!
That is awesome!
Thank you very much Kat! Your videos are so helpful!
You're so welcome!
Great video, Kat! So glad you are doing so well. Thanks for sharing. Hoping to be able to reopen my store before long ❤
You can do it!
Thanks for your authenticity Kat!!! I don’t run sales anymore either. I bought a shirt for $5 that was worth about $80. I sold for $70 in one day. I agree with you.
niceeee!
Im up to 10 whole sales on Ebay and 2 on Mercari in about 6 weeks. Started with some clothes but theu dont seem to be moving so now doing more retail arbitrage. But you are the first person I started watching.
Retail arbitrage is great if you live in areas where it is readily available. For me in the middle of nowhere it's not :(
Thank you for sharing.
Good thought Maybe each show we can all do a question of our own for the panel
Thanks for explaining the savings on shipping.
You are so welcome!
Thank you. I'm really interested in everything you talk about. It's very helpful.
I'm so glad!
Happy Sunday Kat! 🙌🏻
You too!!
You go girl. Nice work. Always keep improving 😊
Always!
Great idea!
Thanks for sharing, Kat! I am a newbie (also a nurse) so love learning from you!
You are so welcome!
Lol 😆 🤣 😂 i burned some stuff before the benefits of being in the country and sometimes it's better to pay to learn and just let it go
Oh, bless your heart....hang in there. I sure feel your frustration.!
Maybe try consignment, it gets it out of the house while it's waiting for a buyer.
I went through the list tonight and look at median sale prices. I am just flat out still overpriced. I really don't even care about the money anymore. It started out as a plan to declutter and it took a strange turn.
@@debbiekennedy6030I don't care about the money. I just want it gone so I can sew again.
I put stuff on sale that I've had for a bit or I just don't want to have in my store anymore. Mostly stuff I bought when I first started and watched a different content creator. Lol.
Ah yeah I need to do some of those too!
Thanks for sharing! I do still buy some, but I'm way pickier now

Hopefully this will come some day! ;-)
@@dejavuthrifting yes i hope so too!

Thanks.
For me I have to calculate in payrolly even if I'm 10x money from the buy when I pay someone to list it and then to ship it that 10x goes way down
I sell vintage on Etsy also, been at it about a year.
I haven't tried the coupon yet ill have to give it a go!
You're the best.
You're the best! I appreciate you watching
Thanks for sharing!!
Yes i agree for sure just like if something is a dollar that doesn't mean you have to buy it and even free isn't good lol
Excellent video!
Thank you very much!
Are you doing print on demand?
@@TheNurseFlipper no. First store is vintage and handmade. 2nd store is supplies for Sewists and makers.
Yeah i am buying some just very few
Yes that's great! Getting rid of stuff and making something is better than nothing and having more room for inventory
Hi Kat! Everything you are changing makes sense! Hey, is there any chance of another meet up in the future like you did in Mt. Dora?
Yes possibly. I don't think George is going to mount Dora this year so I'm not sure if we'll go there but I'll think on it for sure!
Oh great idea!
Every Monday I run a one week discount based on number of days on the site. It is pretty simple with 7 tiers from 10 to 40 percent every 5%. Takes about 10 minutes to set up every week. The number of items does not matter since it is a bulk process but we do maintain about 1400 items.
For me i end and sell similar so it wouldn't work by date unfortunately
Can you trying in 0 pounds X oz?
@@amy-betharnette9754 I have used Etsy for years & I will always put 0 in the lbs if it's less, but it said value could not be less than 1. I am going to reach out to them if it remains the same this week as to why this change.
@@thetimelessrosevintage9963 is it because of Etsy’s new form? I hate it because it doesn’t show how much the shipping will cost the customer.
@@cherylchambers2293 Could possibly be. I didn't know it didn't show them the shipping though :(
I have always passed on the shipping discount . In this economy, reasonable shipping is big for buyers.

Yeah ebay is alot 85 to 90% of our sales
Kat, you could set up a new store category for sale items and then move the items there in bulk and run the sale just on that store category (please note I only started in January, so that may not be a good idea). You could start 15% for one month, then 20% the next month, etc.
I could, but we have so many it would be time consuming. I might try today though to pick out quite a few to do 50% off on to try to move them out !

The title sucks but it sure helps get will fix it. I wish we could save a template to express lister to speed up the listings for the annoying item specifics.
Yeah I think they're working on that I heard them talking about it on the podcast the other day!
Thats a great idea! I do trending +3% with a cap of 11% on dynamic :-) on all listings
No the offsite ads I don't think are worth it because you pay per click and that will add up fast.I would just do the regular promoted.
Love your content Kat! I keep a 15% off sale on eBay all the time. I figured if I pay 20% on Poshmark I can keep this sale year round. My sales have change significantly on eBay I believe because of the sale. I do offer specific item discounts. Interested to see how your changes work out
For me eBay runs around 20% in fees as well with promoted and regular fees. I'll definitely let you know
I’ve had a surprising uptick in sales and I have not done anything different.

I haven't got to that point yet lol lol that's how my store grew to 7000 i list about 40 on average a day and sell 15 to 20
@@TheNurseFlipper thank you for letting me know that.
@@TheNurseFlipper ah, that's a good point. I didn't think of it that way. Thank you!
I just opened a store since selling for 2 years on EBay it had increased my sales a lot
An Ebay store?
Interesting, did you start listing more once you opened the store?
@@TheNurseFlipper yes
Thanks.
No I don't because I typically send out my lowest I'm willing to take on them. That's a great idea with the handling fee!
When you say 50% sell through, what length of time are you basing that on? 90 days, 6 months, one year??
90 days
Hey Kat, I love your channel, lives and videos. I'm a retired nurse also. I had a question about the label printer and checked your links. What labels do you buy for shipping to go with the printers you show on the links? I wouldn't be printing stickers, just shipping labels. I will buy through your links when I buy. Thanks!
If you don't use a lot these would work good amzn.to/3xVz1zC

Question any tips for selling record albums, LPs? Places to sell them how to sell them. Do I put them multiple or you sell two at a time I think that fits in that box the cardboard box and they fit in there..
I've not ever done them unfortunately so no help here
I pass along the shipping discount but I don’t promote my listings, for me is one or the other 🤷♀️
I think if I had to choose I would promote lol :D
I have a question. If I pass the discount onto buyers, is that somehow “highlighted” on my store? I didn’t choose to stay in but I do give a shipping discount refund if there’s a big difference between what they paid and my cost.
It doesn't let them know specifically they just see a cheaper shipping cost
I am not opted in for passing on the shipping discount. After the postal increase, i am considering opting in. Is there a way to only pass on a portion of the discount?
I think so, but I'm not sure how to do it
Just got my first dispute :( buyer said he did not receive the item & having accepted his low offer I did not go to the extra expence ( 5 euro ) to add a tracking number for a 15 euro profit.
Kat, I do calculated shipping and wonder if it's possible to apply our eBay discounts to calculated shipping?
Yes that's the default if you didn't choose anything it is already happening
How does ebay figure the discounted shipping?? Do they use my size and weight?? Or do they make up rates? Thank you.
They use size and weight and charge the buyer what you pay with your discount when you print on ebay
Thank you!
My only sourcing now is from rummage / church sales. I've found the most variety in one place and the biggest profit margin there.
I am wondering - is there a way to offer 50% off on shipping? I'd be happy to do that.
You could just do a flat rate shipping. I love church sales myself but don't see them super often. I would do only them if I could find enough!
How do they police/govern this to make sure stores are complying?
@@TheNurseFlipperwe have a “consumer council” and they keep watch and consumers can contact them and complain. They will bring cases to the police and some businesses have been fined. Consumers/customers have great power.
Hi kat im a newbie and have learned so much thanks to your videos. You spoke of using a delister and I was wondering is that part of LP or another type of app? Thank you❤
It's part of List Perfectly :-)
@@TheNurseFlipper thank you I will check it out
Does EBay point west coast buyers to your store so they can make more on shipping?
No, I think it's because stuff is cheaper here on the east coast and we find a lot of things that aren't readily available on the west coast
Sorry, another question. I downloaded and subscribed to list perfectly last week. I cannot get past the point where I can add which sites I also post on. It wants me to add chrome extensions which I’ve done
More times than 8i can count. I am working on a laptop do I need to have a desktop to use list perfectley?
No you should only need to add one extension no more. On your listings page up top it says marketplaces you click that and that's where you link them
@@TheNurseFlipper ya that hasn’t worked and it’s repeating I need to add the extension. I was thinking it was because I was on laptop and not a desktop. Does that matter do you know?

I don't have an eBay store, I don't even know really what that is. When I spoke to Customer Service on the phone they said I'm too new at eBAY to consider having a store. I only have 220 items listed. Do you need a store to sell a ton more and make more money? How much merchandise do you need to list before considering this? Thanks. :)
The store doesn't help make more sales, just some added benefits like running sales.I normally recommend once over 250 listings get the starter store I think it's 5.99 or 9.99 a month :-)
@@TheNurseFlipper Oh great, thank you! I didn't even know there was a starter store, I will look into it!

Yes it's nice when you can be more choosy for sure
I used to sell on Etsy, but I quit because there is no way to dispute anything with them. They were taking the majority of my profit. How and why do you deal with them?
I'm just trying higher dollar items and very few to start off until I see how it goes. I know a lot of people that etsy is their main platform and they love it though.

That's awesome I'm glad to hear it's working!

I think sales are important but no one is fooled by a 35% off sale when the price then matches other items. I’ve never understood this method. Running a much more reasonable sale of 10% off still makes people feel like they’re getting a bargain. That’s basic consumer psychology.
With 10% off we got no increase in sales so for me when I'm buying i typically want 25% off to pay attention to the sale
