      Why do people suggest live performances before they listen to the superior studio version?

    • @gregglass119
      @gregglass119 7 месяцев назад +2

      Because, if a band is comprised of top-level artists, the live performances are always superior to the anti-septic and contrived studio versions.
      For a band like Led Zeppelin, I would choose to see them live over listening to a studio recording any day of the week.

    • @benaiah2119
      @benaiah2119 7 месяцев назад +3

      @@gregglass119 the studio version of every song is 20x better in my opinion. It’s the way you were meant to listen. A live performance is good but the original is how it was meant to be heard. So I think it’s more appropriate to suggest the original first. Then a live performance.

    • @lyndoncmp5751

      Because a lot of reactors want to watch as well as listen. There are no good visuals to go with the studio version of Since I've Been Loving You, and Zeppelin live were very visually fascinating.

    I was lucky enough to see Led Zeppelin in concert in 73 at Madison Square Garden . My girlfriends and I took a train into the city, stood in front of the Garden and got 3 scalped tickets for $10 a piece. Hands down my favorite band and memory for a 16 yr old girl.

    Studio first, live later. That way you get to hear the song the way it was meant to be heard, and then you can still react to live versions later, and it allows you to make a better assessment of their live capabilities. Those requesting live first, already know the song so they are not considering a first time listener. Zeppelin is my favourite band but i would always recommend studio first for a first time listener. I see some are suggesting "Since i've been loving you". I agree but studio first.

      Virtually all bands are different live, but LZ especially. The studio versions are baseline works of art that the live versions play off of. If you don't know what it's SUPPOSED to sound like, then it's difficult to truly appreciate it.

    I can NEVER get enough Led Zeppelin. Unlike a lot of bands, I don't have to be in a particular mood to listen to Led Zep, it will create a mood of its own. They're that good.
    Excellent background music for housework! You'll get a lot done, and hardly notice the work.

    Robert Plant said the Led Zeppelin song he wants to be most remembered for is Kashmir. Kashmir live at Knebworth 1979 official video is their best live performance of Kashmir, and one of their most epic live performances. Here you will also see how their "look" changed from the early 1970's to the late 1970's. This represents a general fashion trend. One of the many things that make this performance so epic was John Bonham's drumming. He was absolutely at his best during this performance. Robert's vocals are also some of his best. I saw Led Zeppelin 3 times between 1969 - 1970, and I'm envious of the people who saw this concert, and the one at MSG 1973.

    • @roseannecohen
      @roseannecohen 7 месяцев назад +3

      I'm envious of anyone who got to see them at all. Sadly, I did not. John Bonham died before their 1980 tour to the U.S. I was 13 and it would have been my first concert. Instead, my first concert was AC/DC at 15.

    Enjoying your reactions, always amazes me when young people discover great music and realize it's worth listening to more! Studio versions are how the band intended the songs to sound, then the live versions will amaze you when you see how great they were at reproducing their music live! Either way you decide to go, listening to the music is the important thing ... If I could give you advise, it would be to start on the 1st album and work forward so you can see how they progressed through the years. What makes this band different, is their ability to play many genres of music, so it will never sound the same and very often surprise you with how diverse they truly are! Good luck and enjoy the ride!

    The live Madison Square version is great also , it is much longer than the studio version and studio versions seem to be the best before going to live versions but I am biased towards that because that is how I did it growing up and not having the instant selective choices that are available now .. Everything on the Madison Square Song Remains The Same 1973 film should be seen because it is brilliant .

Later, I worked at concerts and was backstage at about every classic rock act you can think of, including Led Zeppelin. Now, at 72, it's a lot of fun to watch young listeners discover this and other amazing bands that my generation grew up with and almost took for granted.

    Whenever you're hearing a song for the very first time, 99.99% of the time you want to listen to the official studio recording first. There are very, very few exceptions to this hard and fast rule. Especially when you're listening to a song from the 60's or the 70's because live performances were typically not recorded very well in those days.

    Very nice to see someone react so positively to this song which is now more than 50 years old.
    I really liked this song when I first heard it back then and I actually like it better now. It can easily stand any comparison with any rock track produced since then.
    I am glad that you 'got' the lyrics of song. You'd be surprised at how many people don't.😊
    Halcyon days as far as music is concerned.
    With regard to recommending other Led Zeppelin songs, there are just so many. 'Good Times, Bad Times', 'You're Time Is Gonna Come', 'Communication Breakdown', 'How Many More Times', 'Dazed and Confused'' and those are just from their first album (a vinyl copy of which I still have and still play). The list is not endless, but it is very long!
    They were simply the best at what they did and to this day I have never heard anyone better.

      Nice list. Little short, though, haha! They had SO many GREAT soulful and other songs, aye? hardly anyone ever asks for a reaction to Baby come on home. Shame, it's an amazing (non-album) song!

      @@AmjadAliSyd "Tea for one" is so underrated. Casual fans barely know about it. Anyhow: Well, welcome aboard!! Hearing that kind of comment from GenZ's makes us Old School Zepheads (GenX here, born in '65) pump our fists and go "F*ck Yeah!" You seem to be fully infected by The Fever, heh. It is a glorious sickness ("Sick again" and again and again...). You prolly may know all about this already, but there are many awesome quality bootlegs out there. New levels of admiration and wonder! The channel "Led Zeppelin Boots" is very extensive. "Led Zeppelin Rarities" is another. Anyhow, you have really good taste in music, lol!

    Their live versions of this are always awesome as they can't exactly replicate that electronic part (with those weird stereo effects) so they improvise when playing live and it's awesome. There's also a 20 minute + live version of this song but to be fair it start off with this then goes into a medley of a couple of other songs and then returns.

    • @Scoobydcs

      They dont improvise because they can't replicate the studio. They're masters of their craft!
      they improvised because that's what they do! Both live and in the studio

    This was a re-work of Delta Blues man Willie Dixon's 'You Need Love' first recorded by Muddy Waters on Chess Records in 1962, and LZ's best rendition was Royal Albert Hall. You know what's goin' on, girl... 😁

    If you listen to the studio version first and live second then you are experiencing the music the same way we did back in the day when this music was brand new. I am a 71 year old hippie who has had a lifelong pursuit of great music and when I am watching reactions to music I prefer the reactor to have their first listen the same way I did ! Their are only hand full of performers that transfer well to live recordings but when they do it is worth your time.

    Robert Plant, Jimmy Paige, John Bonham, John Paul Jones, what a team they made, one of the greatest bands ever. Try Immigrant song, Ramble on, Dazed and confused, When the levee breaks, The battle of evermore. Many, many more that I could add all so good.

    If your looking for more Led Zeppelin to react to try the song 'Kashmir' it's another classic! Either the studio version or there is also a great live performance from 1979!

    Always do the studio original recording first, especially with stairway to heaven along with the lyrics. Then you can always watch the some live version of it later. This video that you watched here is the studio version overlaid with images of a live performance. Next one, black dog.

    Welcome to the world of being a fan of the best rock band ever! "Since I've Been Loving You" is a very popular vid with reactors. LOTS of Robert mesmerizing the audience! For more of all four members, check out "Kashmir at Knebworth '79" The drummer will blow your mind! To see them ten years younger than that, go back to 1970 with "I can't quit you baby." (Royal Albert Hall) It's FIRE!! For a softer side, check out "Going to California. Earl's Court, 1973) Robert will conquer your heart even more there for sure, lol!
