“Back Door Man” is an old Blues term that refers to a person who slips out the back door as his side-girl’s husband opens the front door. Zeppelin was very rooted in blues music dating back to the early 1900s. Zeppelin was one of many white bands to play and expose many of the great blues artists during the 60s & 70s. This helped to restart the careers of the many blues artists of the time who were all but forgotten and therefore struggling just to get by.

This song was actually a blues song. The phrase "I wanna be your backdoor man" isn't what you are thinking. Howlin Wolf and even The Doors sing about being a backdoor man. As the husband was leaving for work out the front door, the lover was coming through the backdoor of the house. I really like both of your reactions! Lex is great.

Who doesn't love Lex's reaction!?!? But I have to add, the magic that Bonzo brings to this song is amazing! He brings a whole new dimension to the song when the drums start.
'Back door man' just means lover. An old blues reference - the husband goes out to work through the front door and the lover comes in through the back door.
Lex's reaction at the very beginning is the greatest reaction I've ever seen! I love it and I love her. I'm so excited to see someone have an instant love to a band that has been my favorite band since the first time I heard them over forty years ago. Thank you Lex for bringing me such an awesome gift!
Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest bands of all time. Even though their music is easy to appreciate immediately I highly recommend listening to it for a few years to fully absorb just how dynamic it is. An audiophile gets an emotional response from hearing all the high defintion aspects of a song and Led Zeppelin delivers this complexity in spades.
Lex is such a 70's rock chick, she gets it. This genre is heavily influenced by blues. There are hints of classical, jaz, country and folk but the blues influence is the most obvious. Watch Lex let the Music flow through her and bug-out. Reminds me so much of living through the 70's. Deja-vu. (All over again). Loved this reaction. #Hangovergang
Now this is rock. Pure granite. It's so great that so many reviewers appreciate this music. The first time I heard this album I thought hell this is heavy. Plant is amazing, the band is firing in all cylinders. It's criminal that this music is not taught in schools. Radio stations need to play this classic as it can't die.
About 15 years ago I was waiting outside a bar in London. My band was playing there that night and I was waiting there with my bass guitar to be let in for a soundcheck. I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned round to see Robert Plant looking me right in the eyes. He must have been amused by my shocked reaction because he walked off laughing. 😄 I suspect he did it just to freak me out because he could see that I was musician and knew I'd recognise him.
Lex's expression at 0:27 is EVERYTHING! Don't you love it when you hear a song that causes you to have the same reaction?! 💗 it Lex! You are precious!!
Took you a bit, but you got it! Very visceral, primordial and sultry indeed! That song shook the music world in 1969. That opening guitar riff was earthshattering.
"Whole Lotta Love" was released in 1969. Like so many other British Rock bands, Zeppelin were obsessed with American Blues. They had an unapologetically sexual vibe. Great band. And a great reaction. Your RUclips channel rules.
Just FYI: A "Back Door Man" is a woman's guy on the side. He came in the back door as her main man was heading out the front door to go to work. The phrase has been around since at least the1920s - probably earlier than that.

If it is a put on, you should be an actress because this type of happiness is virtually impossible to fake.
Zeppelin are like Queen. They are a band composed of musicians who were all world class. When Lex describes them as "delicate but hard" I imagine it relates to the fact that while they are playing hard rock/blues music their instruments are all being played so precisely they come together like an orchestra. Whether you like Zep (or Queen) is just personal taste but they are among the finest in their genres

Brad must have real hearing problems if he places Plant with AC/DC! I get the feeling that the overt sexuality of this tune turns Brad off! Well, too bad for him.
Lex totally gets it - the “it has butter on it” OMG I laughed so hard. Absolute perfection
Lex is like those people who see numbers as colors. Her reactions are so visceral. She hears sounds and immediately turns it into visuals and emotions. Awesome!
People like this should make music of their own imo.
And Brad is like....huh what? Ah yeah..I don't know what you're talking about but his hair is long..
Lex and synesthesia!
i like lex. she gets it straight away always
And it doesn't hurt that she is so doggone cute
The perfect first reaction to Zep: “Can we turn it up?”
Love seeing a new Zepplin fan be born. "It is the soul of rock n roll." Nailed it Lex.
Lobe how you worded that!
*love
Lex discovers Classic Rock and becomes an instant fan! Of course a song from the legendary Led Zeppelin 🎸🤘🎤
This was 1969. Led Zep is roots of hard rock and metal.
Try Dazed and Confused, Kashmir, Rock & Roll and Stairway to Heaven.
Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath are the roots of hard rock and heavy metal. The Unholy Trinity.
Opening a whole can of whoop ass with these guys. You could do reactions to Zeppelin songs for a month straight
Lex's reaction is the BEST!!! Finally reacting to the mighty Zeppelin, the greatest rock band of all time
I'm 71 years old and I listened to Led Zeppelin since the first came out. I really get a kick out seeing Lex reaction, it makes me laugh. She is a hard rocker no doubt about it.
I laughed when she said can we turn it up. Keep Rockin.
Remember Brad, you don't have to analyze every song. Just enjoy the music and the weird lyrics that really have no meaning and are not meant to be picked apart. People were so stoned all the time back then, they just wanted music for the "trip".
Yep LMAO I remember when I was young and used to think every rock song had a deep meaning to it, the hours I spent trying to figure out crazy lyrics from people high on drugs
I never paid much attention to lyrics. I cared more about the vibe of the song.
weird lyrics? people being high? it's a straight song about fucking 🤦♂️
It's an old blues lyrics by Willie Dixon, nothing fancy at all
@@JulioLeonFandinho right!!? 😜
Sometimes lyrics just are meant to conjure images and not tell a story.
This is the music I was raised on. Crazy you've never hear Zeppelin until now. Legendary.
They reacted to "Stairway To Heaven" and must have forgotten, even though Brad was thoroughly triggered by Robert Plant's pants when he watched it. In fairness, many of us were...
Indeed!!
@@Gekokujo76 I think this is a re-upload from before they had reacted to Stairway.
This helped to restart the careers of the many blues artists of the time who were all but forgotten and therefore struggling just to get by.
ruclips.net/video/WoqR7ztdTCg/видео.html not the back door man but just good old muddy waters, sound familiar?!?!
@@capricorn1971ad Willie Dixon wrote Back Door Man! Recorded by Howlin' Wolf!

"back door man" in a blues sense meant sneaking out of the back door when the husband came home....it doesn't necessarily mean the colon cavalry...
Ya know... I was trying to think of a way to say that.
In the words of Led Zeppelin "You know sometimes words have two meanings".
Lex: they’re referring to…
Brad: some things
I laughed my ass off.
😀😃😄😁😆😅🤣😂🙂😉😜🤪😝
there is not a single band or artist with a larger collection of masterpieces than Led Zeppelin. You have so many more to go.
Since ive Been Loving You would be right up your alley
Black Dog
Little skiffle band from liverpool has a larger collection😡
@@Brandi6666 lol, I think it's difficult to react to The beatles because they always get blocked, would be cool though.
@@Brandi6666 - yeah - Wings is epic.
This is one of the most iconic guitar riffs. Next LZ songs “In My Time of Dying” “Ten Years Gone” and “Fool in the Rain” please🙏🏻🙏🏻
Such interesting choices to group in that category with "Whole Lotta Love." I feel like most would pick from I-V maybe Houses, all though I've always been partial to "The Rover." Interesting
I pretty much like every Led Zeppelin song but Fool in the Rain and Ten Years Gone our next level.
Funny how Muddy Waters did it first and Page ripped him off.
@@BlazinRiver1 actually they ripped off the Small Faces.

Fool In The Rain for sure.
Instant reaction from Lex, brilliant. Her analyses absolutely nails the heart of everything she listens to.
If everyone had a Lex or a Brad, the world would be a better place.
As long as I had a Lex box for when i had a headache ;O)
So true I love these two
Brad has a reason to live.
FACTS
OMFG Lex's initial reaction to their sound was just the best thing ever! I would suggest When The Levee Breaks and Babe I'm Gonna Leave You.
...or any Led Zeppelin song...but those are a couple of my favorites, There seems to be so much more depth to this generation of music than contemporary ..stuff...Lex gets it, she always does.
Led Zeppelin is THE rock band of the late 60's and 70's.
Lex has SO got the vibe!
LZ was a pretty straight ahead blues band turned up to 11 their first 2 or 3 albums. They sounded suspiciously like the Blues Breakers, basically Brits playing their version of Missippi Delta Blues. I mean their lyrics could have been written by Muddy Waters or Robert Johnson.
October 22,1969 to be exact is when that song was released

Lex's reactions are incredible. She detects those awesome tight grooves immediately and locks in. You rock, Lex.
She is genuinely wonderful.
First ….. Lex is stunning …..
Next : it’s nice to see you enjoying all kinds of music, but you got the best, Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band in history..
"Its like the soul of rock and roll!" "The rockier version of the Blues." You both nailed it, in different ways. That's EXACTLY what it is! Love you guys.
No they didn't lol!!! He missed the entire point of the song till she said something and tooknher the entire song to figure out it was very graphically about sex. Freaky sex too, you know, the good stuff, as he said he's gonna be schoolin' her.
@@0001captainawesome It’s both, I think.
Who doesn't love Lex's reaction!?!?
But I have to add, the magic that Bonzo brings to this song is amazing! He brings a whole new dimension to the song when the drums start.
1st Album, listen to DAZED AND CONFUSED next, and believe me, the whole album is FIRE !
I believe they have reacted to Dazed and Confused already, this is a re-upload.
lol I laughed so hard at Lex's reaction to the opening. Imagine hearing this song for the first time it's like getting hit by a train.
Lex knows whats its like to actually feel music! You have just scratched the surface of one of the greatest bands ever - PEACE LOVE n HIPPYNESS!
She is the embodiment of the divinely feminine.
'Back door man' just means lover. An old blues reference - the husband goes out to work through the front door and the lover comes in through the back door.
Thank you for the explanation, most people probably never knew what that meant, I sure didn't.
thiefs do that too like they´ve ripp this riff from old blues song hehehh
Lex's reaction at the very beginning is the greatest reaction I've ever seen! I love it and I love her. I'm so excited to see someone have an instant love to a band that has been my favorite band since the first time I heard them over forty years ago. Thank you Lex for bringing me such an awesome gift!
I agree, her face when he starts singing.
1972.
@@johnnix862 1969
No, you're right. It was 1969.
I knew the second Robert Plant started singing this one that Lex was gonna lose it! This song is as epic as her reactions!
We call it blues driven rock. You need Led Zepplin's "Lemon Song". Dazed and Confused works too.
It gets me every time I see that banner with the name spelled the way you just did. lol
Each member was an absolute master of their craft. The epitome of rock gods. Please do more zepplin soon.
One of my favorites that no one ever checks out is "In The Evening". The groove rolls on forever.
Achilles Last Stand for me
@@joehynes5452 My absolute favourite Zeppelin song, Presence is just a masterpiece, comparable to Abbey Road.
😄 I suspect he did it just to freak me out because he could see that I was musician and knew I'd recognise him.
thats amazing dude
I assume you haven’t washed your shoulder since!? lol. Jk. But that is a dream come true. Wow.
Lex's expression at 0:27 is EVERYTHING! Don't you love it when you hear a song that causes you to have the same reaction?! 💗 it Lex! You are precious!!
“The soul of rock n roll” couldn’t said it better! Legends!
Brad: I think the song is about how much he likes his girl
Lex thinking: It's about f*#king, baby.
As usual lex is right
Hahaha
Yeah....its not about his girlfriend. He's singing about getting down and dirty with a woman. Probably just met her. This is from late '60's.
at 7:48 of the video she definitely tried to send the signal to Brad.
Just FYI: A "Back Door Man" is a woman's guy on the side. He came in the back door as her main man was heading out the front door to go to work. The phrase has been around since at least the1920s - probably earlier than that.
It's also using the other entrance when you're already inside the house.
IYKWIM
Also, the phrase was taken from the iconic blues song that was covered by the doors... backdoor man
In the words of Led Zeppelin "You know sometimes words have two meanings".
Ah, it has other meanings.....
Mark, it doesn't mean coming in the back door, it means exiting through the back door when the hubby pulls in the drive.
Zeppelin was the best band EVER....I'm 65 and still rock the hell out in my car..My son who is 40 has all Zeppelins music...We had albums back then and I still have mine...Listen to Black Dog and Stairway to Heaven.....The Lemon song is, well fairly suggestive but we didn't get all wound up about that back in the 70's, we just wanted Rock. Jimmy Page is one of the best guitarists ever lived and Robert Plant singing...Whewww...loved watching this
Led Zeppelin Are Legendary Music Icons,, Considered To Be "The Founding Fathers" Of Hard Rock/Metal/Blues..They Have An Absolutely HUGE Catalog Of Classic Hits Well Worth You Time.
Lex has incredible taste and always amazes me with her enthusiastic reactions to classic songs such as this one. God bless
That whole thing was watching Lex have an epiphany in real time.
It’s kinda validating - watching that kind of experience through someone else’s eyes confirms that my own love of some of this music is not just because of age or exposure - This really is something special, no matter when you’re from.
You are so right. When it’s great, it goes beyond time. It never gets old. It’s just Great.
@@stanleyrichiii4474 still rocking to Zeppelin almost 40 years later from introduction. Whole lotta love, one of my favorites of all time. Could sit and name so many. Zeppelin was in my most influential time of music.
I agree. It's like if you could animate the way listening to this in the 70's made you feel, Lex does a spot on performance of that.
Lex just had a religious experience and didn't know it....Her instincts for good music is on the money.
Saw them at Pirate's World in south Florida in September '69, both nights they played. Wow! When Page pulled out the violin bow for this song it blew the crowd away. I knew their music but we didn't have video back then so didn't know how he achieved that sound until seeing them live. Their power on stage was incredible.
I was at that same concert. I had only heard their first album
Led Zeppelin can't be explained; they're a force of nature. Best rock band in history.
Lex, rocking out. I love it. Brad's 'lets see how it goes' style of enjoying the music is the perfect counterpoint. I really enjoy watching you both. Thank you.
This is Lex's best reaction ever.
Lex is a conduit. She just gets the good stuff straight away...
When the guitar returns after the long drum part, and Jimmy does that long bendy note during the break, I get an eargazm that's hard to match. To me that whole break is the peak of a perfect song.
“Way way down inside I’m gonna give you my love…I’m gonna give you every inch of my love” is a dead giveaway as to what this song is about. A very powerful spell on the song too as you can see from the female reaction 😂
And the superb bass of John Paul Jones makes what is already legendary, even better.
For years and years in the UK .the Beatles was voted No 1band of the year..Led Zeppelin was the band that took over as the Beatles disbanded..UK was full of heavy rock bands
Lex really makes me smile. It warms my heart to hear her reaction when she said she loves this💖
That may be the best Led Zepplin reaction ever lol
Lex is hilarious when she gets into a song.
Brad, don't worry, after 1 or 2 more songs you'll see they're a legendary band for a reason.
Literally my favorite band of all time. Y'all just earned about 60 billion brownie points with me :)
I've seen a lot of reaction videos and this is THE BEST ONE EVER!! Lex you seemed like you might spontaneously combust out of pure joy. I watched 3 times in a row bc your enthusiasm was so amazing! .

Thank you for sharing with all of us. This song is 50 years old and I still crank it up every time it comes on!
I was 19 in 1969 when this was released. They were way ahead of their time and remain timeless.
First Time Hearing Led Zeppelin,, WOW,, What An Epic & Incredible Journey You Both Have Ahead Of You!!
I grew up with this band and saw them in concert twice, so there’s not much you can tell me about Zep, what I’d like to comment on is this young lady’s reaction to them.
Her level of excitement and pure joy is heartwarming, it reminds me so much of my youngest daughter when she is happy. If it is a put on, you should be an actress because this type of happiness is virtually impossible to fake.
I'm jealous. But the influence they had on the bands I grew up on is unmistakable and greatly appreciated
I experienced the 70’s as a teen and loved every minute of it, from AM to FM. Led Zeppelin defined hard rock back in those days. They were truly ground breaking. LZ played the spectrum from hard to soft and their songs still connect to me.
What an experience that must of been i wish I was there
I can only imagine the vibe. You are a lucky person.
Zeppelin. “In My Time of Dying “. A masterpiece! I don’t know if you’ve ready for it.

Call me crazy but … it’s an absolute privilege to watch Lex react with so much uninhibited passion!
This made me smile. Lex was really getting into it and was excited and Brad was sitting there like a wet lettuce😂
