If I recall the full story, the song was released by the time of Terminator 2 and Arnold himself was a big fan of the band. They pledged to include it into the official soundtrack, but the producers of the movie wouldn’t accept it (I don’t remember if it had anything to do with royalties or simply an artistic choice). The solution was for Arnold to convince James Cameron to have the song playing in the stereo as John Connor is passing by (I think he actually reacts to it in the movie maybe lip syncing or dancing to it, but that might be my memory failing me). Anyway, in the end, the song was not officially released as part of the soundtrack, but it is instantly associated with the movie. So much so that, as soon as Arnold’s T-850 shows up on screen, he’s carrying a shotgun disguised as a box of flowers (as a reference to Guns N’ Roses).

In the off chance that you read this, I often return to Pink Floyd reactions that are particularly simpatico to my own feelings and yours definitely are re-watchable. This time I found a second compatibility. For the first time I noticed a logo on your pink top, mostly hidden by your hair. A few times I was able to see more of it as you moved during your reaction, so I'm convinced it reads "Case Western Reserve University." I was in grad school at CWRU in 1979, already a Pink Floyd fan and supercharged by the release of Pink Floyd The Wall in cinematic form. In the 1980a, I was able to teach at another university and included The Wall, A Momentary Lapse of Reason, and The Division Bell in film classes and popular culture series. Seeing the Case Western Reserve text on your top took me right back to those halcyon years working with the next generation of students and making sure they had exposure to the greatness of Pink Floyd. So watching your reaction this time not only took me on the journey of the music, but you also took me back to a time in my life when so much of this was new and real and important. Thanks!

Don't worry about being emotional listening to Pink Floyd. I'm 75 and been listening to Pink Floyd for nearly 60 years. I am still moved to tears by their music. Their sound is greatly enhanced by having 2 keyboard players to provide layering, a second percussionist and not forgetting Dave Gilmour is supported by Tim Renwick on rhythm guitar and occasional lead on some songs. The bass player Guy Pratt (who still plays for Dave Gilmour) has played for many top artists including Madonna, Michael Jackson, Bryan Ferry amongst others. (He also happened to be keyboard player Richard Wright's son in law).

So glad you feel the emotion. 5 million people saw Pink Floyd on this Pulse tour and all felt the same. You will have noticed by now that there is no strutting around or great display. The band come on to stage at the start of the concert with no introduction and just play. Those few words at the start of High Hopes were the only thing said until they said goodbye at the end after the last encore "Run like Hell". Love your reaction.

The best band, the best guitar solo from the best concert ever. Welcome to Pink Floyd. Every live performance from Pink Floyd is an emotional journey. Been a fan since they started in the 60s and still love their music. Though PF stopped performing after the death of keyboard player Richard Wright, guitarist David Gilmour has continued to perform live to the present, his last tour ending Dec 2024 (aged 78). Nick Mason, the main drummer also has toured with his band playing early Floyd songs. He is now 80. Bass player Guy Pratt plays for both bands.

This really hits home with me. I also have stage 4 chronic kidney failure. I pray that my son feels this way about me.

When he sings the latter slow "I need your love" section, what is missing? I think the audience was in awe and shocked by the moment. Not a sound was heard from that huge filled auditorium. Tons of respect as Elvis saved the pitch perfect falsetto for the ending. An incredibly emotional performance. No wonder that one of the writers of Unchained Melody called Elvis' version his favorite out of hundreds that were sung. RIP, Elvis. You live on in your music.
