Having seen them perform this live elevate this another several levels ...
Kanami, lead guitar and songwriter. This was definitely my favorite Band Maid song.
Band Maid actually released an EP just prior to their US tour, this is the opening track and you've already done the title track Unleash!!!!!. There are two other MV's from the EP, Influencer and Sense (which was previously released as a single and was written for an anime). These four tracks are the more straightforward songs from the EP , the other 4 Corallium, Balance, I'll and Hate? are in Prog Rock territory, to me anyway. I Find the question mark in Hate? rather funny because the lyrics do not leave any doubt in your mind how Saiki (who provided the lyrics for this one) is feeling about whoever is the target of the song.
Enjoyed the reaction. Fellow guitar nerd here. It's the bassist, Misa, who's playing through an Orange. Kanami's using a Mesa Triple Rectifier (that's what I have). But yes, she has an endorsement with PRS.
Yup
Kanami = PRS custom 24 + Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier.
Miku = Zemaitis "Flappy Pigeon" custom + 5150 EVH
MISA = Black Cloud signature custom 5 string + Orange amp
Love her guitar. Best action out there.
Three different commentators from 2016 (paraphrased): "C'mon, are those girls REALLY playing those instruments?". Well, by jingo, I think that they just might be doing that! Thanks, ladies (Band maid, Lovebites, Nemophila), for helping to make hard rock and metal great again. Hats off to Japan. Band Maid forever!
Hi ! I'm surprised nobody suggested "Rinne" in your ears yet, one of their most "metal" song to date... With "Warning" ?
Thanks from Band-Maid's homeland 有難う💛。 I witnessed this song performed flawlessly in Tokyo as 12th song in the setlist and Band-Maid played it in 12 out of 13 US concerts as 8th to 11th song. Most of the audience at those venues had, of course, already known their skills and talents. When I heard that they played this instrumental piece as opening at Aftershock (huge festival in California) on Oct. 9 and at Saitama Super Arena on Nov.6 (as support to Guns N' Roses), I felt very proud of them. Yeah! they showed off their skills and talents to the audience who did not know who the girls in maid outfit on the stage were. I felt as if I heard them screaming "Hey guys! Listen to us and open your eyes wide! We are not the persons that you think ! Salute us!" 😄
Carlos Santana is Kanami's hero. He plays with a PRS as well.
I grew up with Santana. I drifted more towards Vai, Rhoads and Dime though. Ben playing the baritone PRS in 2004 is why I tried them out. Best choice I ever made.
Saw this live right after Onset at the DC show.
Jaw dropping.
Many of us just recently saw Band-Maid play “From Now On” live. OMNG! Kanami riffed her ass off. And the BPM’s matched the DB's! 😶🌫Thx, T-Bro!
I just posted a comment and for some reason it vanished. No idea why. I will try again.
I saw Band-maid in October and they played From Now On which was fantastic live. They put on one of the best shows I have seen in my almost half century of going to concerts and festivals. Kanami plays PRS because she was heavily influenced by Carlos Santana who, of course, also plays PRS.
If you haven't heard, Lovebites has a new bassist and will be releasing their 4th full album called Judgment Day on February 23. I am sure they will go to Europe for festival season and hopefully will have a US tour in the fall.
We will keep an eye out for it for sure.
Fun fact: Randall Smith started Mesa Engineering after modding a Fender Princeton. Carlos Santana was a customer and gave it the "Boogie" name.
Went to see Band-Maid back in Oct. at HoB Dallas. These ladies are this good live. It's crazy to watch them play for nearly 2 hrs and be this good from beginning to end.
Yeah, I was there too. Quality music from Sense to Domination. I even heard Mr. Rock and Roll approved! "A-KA-NE!!!"
@Surfing a Song Wave it took until he said that for me to realize who it was they were talking to. I was on the Misa end of the stage, so I couldn't hear the crowd at the other side very well.
@@Ephem13 He was about 25' to my right. I didn't see him until about 15 minutes before the show. His personality i's hard to miss.
I could hear Misa very well from where I was. She's a force of nature.
@@Ephem13 I was just a short distance behind him, so I had already seen that he was there before the show started. What a phenomenal performance that night for Miku's birthday!
I was in Dallas also, and yes, the ladies exceeded my expectations! Great songs and very fun and entertaining as well!
Yeah.....more Band-Maid....more!
You gonna feel good.
YEAHH THEYRE BACK
Actually Kanami the lead guitarist uses a prs with a mesa triple rectifier amp setup the barefoot assassin misa uses a black cloud black smoker bass n orange amp setup
For completeness, Miku plays Zemaitis guitars through an EVH 5150
@@edwardallen4051 true i was simply sticking to his comment on what mincho uses
Thanks Guys!
They played this song when they opened for Guns N'Roses last month in Japan.
No, didn't hear Ben Burnley. Seldom do I hear a BAND-MAID song and think of someone else. I can almost always pick out a BAND-MAID song on streaming music even if I've never heard it before (I was pretty late listening to the songs on this EP beyond the title track) because Kanami just sounds like Kanami. Was there a chord progression that sounded similar to the chord progression in a song by a different band? Maybe. That's music for ya. They have an older song, written for them by someone else, with a chord progression similar to a Nickelback song. When they play it live, they own it in a way Nickelback probably couldn't. That's all that matters.
Kanami (lead guitarist) does use a PRS but uses a Mesa Boogie dual rectifier. The Orange amp you see belongs to MISA (bass player) and the rhythm guitarist uses a 5150. All of the girls have been very loyal to their amps and do not deviate from them unless on tour overseas and forced to use rentals.
I believe it's a triple rectifier.
Kanami uses a Mesa Triple Rectifier. If she used a Double it was because it was hired for the tour.
Cheers!
FYI - .......The Maid outfits are their trademark. so yes....they will ALWAYS wear them onstage
My fav instrumental by the ladies is not actually an instrumental as such...it's the non vocal version "Giovanni"..Watching the ladies performace in the white room makes my heart race....Kanami's fingers of fire..Akane's feet of fury...(limps really but it doesn't fit..so)..MISA's pick of power..and Miku's magic tying them together.
The best part was when you didn’t listen to MISA’s bass solo.
All the ladies are a dream..Don't think there's a band out there that wouldn't want any one of these ladies in their band..Akane " I am Gorilla" 🦍(drummer)..My No.1 drummer ever...I love her style and creativity,...All done with grace and a beautiful smile....She is my "emotional support animal".
Although they played other instruments first, the drummer, lead guitarist & bassist didn't start on their current instruments until about their junior year if high school & the rhythm guitarist just started 9 years ago when she formed the band.
Actually she didn't start learning to play until after the Thrill mv blew up and she realized they would be playing much larger venues and she couldn't fake it anymore. So it has been more like 7 years.
@@danw6048 yes indeed. From what I understand, Miku decided that the guitar could not just be part of the costume anymore. One commenter that I read, said that Band Maid is the only band that the founder of the the band fired herself twice, then replaced herself, then rehired herself to take a part in the roles she fired herself for.
@@scottmcgregor4829 Yep. Miku knew what she had in Kanami when she asked her to join, but she really was not involved in Kanami recruiting Akane and Akane recruiting Misa. She quickly realized that she didn't have the type voice to front such a powerful trio of instrumentalists playing rock, so instead of changing the sound of the band, she demoted herself to a support vocalist and brought in Saiki as lead. From my understanding, she made that decision very quickly. I have no doubt that Miku has a healthy ego, but she always puts the band first.
@@danw6048 I love that about Cluppo. The other Maids have completely come out of their comfort zones on stage because she instinctively knew how to coax them out. On the other hand, to me she has probably made the most obvious advancement as a musician and a vocalist. She even stands and has that guitar player swagger now. I am probably one of the few Band Maid fans that even loves her Cluppo music.
@@scottmcgregor4829 I saw them in Dallas and it was good seeing all of them having a time to interact with the audience, even Misa. The Misa Opening Ceremony was pretty funny although I don't think she cared much for the Lone Star beer. I have my Miku rally towel from that show proudly displayed.
the outfits arnt gonna suddenly dissapear after 10yrs
It's 10 years now! 😉
Breaking Benjamin is our local boys, North East/Central Pennsylvanian here. I do love me some Breaking Ben (seen them many times live), but I'm not really getting the similarities TBH... "From now on" IS heavy as fuck, so that is at least similar I guess... but BAND-MAID FAR exceeds Breaking Ben in musicianship otherwise.
The more I listen the more I am amazed. I am old enough to remember when the US used to have this type of talent. I miss those days.
I guess you guys haven't seen ASTERISM and SAISEIGA. hope you check them out :)
if you like Lovebites and Band Maid you got the two best new Japanese bands IMO. Can hear some Breaking Benjamin, but I'd say much more Satriani influenced, myself.
Yes, Breaking Benjamin, thanks I couldn't put a comparison to what I was hearing, but I love BAND MAID
It's nice to have an instrumental from time to time, because Kanami often buries her lead so far back in the mix to make way for Saiki's vocals. Nice to have her out front and having fun.
Also, yes, the Gorilla is quite a drummer. Took me months to stop nitpicking the drums for other bands after getting on the Band Maid kick. After a while listening to Akane, everything else feels so... sparse.
Shoulda heard this live. Mind blowing
Love this song🤘🏻
This is good stuff
The lead guitarist, Kanami, uses a PRS and a Mesa Triple Rectifier with Mesa quad box. The Orange rig is Misa, the bass players rig, she plays Black Cloud Custom basses. The rhythm guitarist, Miku, uses Zemaitis guitars (most often her signature series) and EVH Amp and quad box.
Cheers!
The maids got quite a few very good instrumentals. Onset, my favourite: without holding back... they even made some instrumental versions of some songs from "Unseen world". First they made "Play", but Saiki loved it so much that she begged them to make some lyrics.
All are great compositions... but one of my absolute favourites is "Blooming".
Masterpiece!
BTW... Good to have u back. Mrs cute as always!
I hear you. I can't get into Baby Metal, either. To each their own.
Well, Baby Metal isn't really a band is it? Maybe that's why. A big difference between 3 little girls with a backing band and 5 serious musicians.
Cheers!
Same
You also want TRiDENT on your side...My second fav Japanese female rock band...A very talented trio....Tracks... "Ambivalent" LIVE at Zepp..."Spoopy"...."Voltage"...."Cry Out"..and many more worth checking out..They are class.
The Orange is the bass guitar output. The PRS is using a MESA Triple rectifier
Akane, the drummer is a virtuoso in this song and really shines. I think this song is to show the naysayers out there that this women are the real deal. I have heard of Breaking Benjamin, but not listened to them. Thanks to Covid though, I caught a terminal case of BandMaiditis. Fan for life.
And live they are even BETTER.
But have you ever heard of NEMOPHILA. They are heavier but still really good. Try REVIVE or the live version of Sorai
They reacted to Nemophila 4 months ago: ruclips.net/video/lJl_76rPY4Y/видео.html
@@ChadTheDragonLord thanks I just looked at it. It's a shame they haven't done more NEMOPHILA but maybe they will in the future.
これぞjapanが誇るhardrockerです。
hey would you check the new album of NEMOPHILA, "Seize The Fate"? it's sounds great. from the hardest one to the ballad one
I talk to Miku every once in awhile , wonderful human being ! very smart , funny and witty ! she loves to laugh !
BAND-MAID just uploaded 2 Lives from their 10th anniversary concert. DON'T YOU TELL ME and HATE? These are how you entertain the fans!
A track for those who think Kanami's solos are "too short." Too short? Well, she is, MINCHO (shorty).
Sir I like your beard it reminds me of Wolfman Jack but of course yours looks a lot better!!
NIGHTWISH!!!!!
Band Maid is awesome in all way.
My recommendation "Asterism" Rising Moon. I think you may like it!
I wonder what you would think of Band Maid's version of the theme song (Dawn Winery. ) Another instrumental.
I didn't like beer early on, but look at me now haha...if there's one Babymetal song that you would like it would be BMTH Kingslayer ft BabyMetal live in Tokyo. Even the people that ruuuun away from BabyMetal cant help but to give this song their just due. (The cutesy cheerleading thing they do in a lot of their older songs does not take place in this song and for their new album too). Ohhh finally the live version came out like last month after 3 years waiting too!!
"whatever the hell the guitarist name is" ????
I'm definitely with you guys on the Babymetal thing. I just don't get the fascination. Babymetal music, to me, is overly synthesize and heavily backtrack music. BandMaid is hard in your face. Straight, what you see is what you get rock.
Breaking Benjamin - Diary of Jane 😂🤘
The only Band Maid song I like, well done. This is a metal song. Love it.

Don’t feel bad. It took me three years to start liking Babymetal. I’ve been a fan now for six years. I guess they have to grow on you. Well, don’t give up one day. All of a sudden you will start liking them. LOL
Greets from Shinjuku...welcome to the best rock band on the planet. His Holiness TinyHat-san welcomes you to the International Fellowship of Maidiacs.
