    They put the instrumentals into the sets to give Saiki's voice a break during their shows. For example their last show at Tokyo Garden theater to 8000 Madiacs had a setlist of 26 songs.

    the 'do not speak over kanami's solo' started off as a lighthearted respect for the lead guitarist's skill. it later morphed into a byline by other maidiacs who are too earnest to a fault for wanting reactors/new listeners to recognise the level of musicianship that she -- and they, as a whole -- show.
    you have every right to do whatever you think comfortably suits your channel. we only want these ladies' music to be heard and appreciated honestly. if their brand of music doesn't create a protracted interest, we're still grateful for lending your ears to this very special group.
    if you're hooked, then welcome to the pigeon hole.

      @NERDING OUT with Rickshaw no. it's sort of a self-deprecating humor that got adopted by the band-maid community, and it has somehow become an 'overbearing' verbal admiration -- which can rub off in a wrong way on some people who aren't familiar with mincho-zilla's skill.

    They will be back in the US in May for the festivals Rockville in Daytona and Sonic Temple in Columbus, OH. What else they might be doing in May-June is not announced yet. And they will back again in August for another festival though which is also not yet announced. Speculation is Lollapalooza in Chicago. Most of 2023 is a big tour in Japan but there are some gaps. Like in June after the US festivals they could do Europe, but absolutely no word about that. The Japan tour ends in November with a concert at the 17,000 capacity Yokohama Arena.

    Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this song performed live twice in Tokyo and dropped my jaw twice 😲. I believe so did many of American audience at 12 venues in the last October. This song has been normally played in the middle of the setlist to give Saiki, lead vocalist, some break. Most of the audience at B-M's one-man (or one-person) concerts had, of course, already known their skills and talents. They played this song, however, as opening at three festivals (Download Japan / Summer Sonic, Japan and Aftershock, USA) and in Guns N' Roses concert in Japan as support to the legendary band. Yeah! they showed off their skills and talents to the audience who knew nothing about the girls in maid outfit on the stage. I felt as if I heard them screaming "Hey guys! Listen to us and open your eyes wide! We are not the persons that you think ! Salute us!" 😄

On the Polyphia comp, I only know their newer stuff but if their older stuff is anything remotely like this, I need to hear it!

    I'm a lot less triggered by pausing than I am by "what's her name." *"What's her name? WHAT'S HER NAME?!?"* Just give me a second. I gotta breathe. Deep breaths. Okay buddy, you need to commit this to memory: *Kanami Tōno* - for the same reason you know Jimi Hendrix or Jimmy Page or Eddie Van Halen or Steve Vai. I'm cool. Breathe. Okay, I'm joshing. A little. But Kanami really _is_ one of the great composers and you'll find out if you keep listening.
    I saw them October 21st in Dallas and it was great. They played this #8 and it's transcendental. Just close your eyes and surf on the song wave.

    I wouldn't worry too much about what viewers think of your production decisions, except that it can effect your success -- assuming, that is, that you care about success. I think most of the more entertaining reactors pause for comments and then rewind to the last transition so that viewers don't can pick up the tread of the music again. Actually, that's pretty important for your reactions. You want viewers to plugin to the music so they can properly digest your comments/reactions. If they lose the thread, that can't happen. And you'll lose viewers. But, you should do whatever you want I'll watch all the same.

    • @nerdingoutwithrickshaw7817

    I too grew up on B&B, having a good time while reacting is my preference. The pausing for longer comments is great, if only so you don’t miss out on chunks of the song while being fun and funny.
    The reactors that just bob their heads during the song and then say “that was great” at the end usually lose my attention much faster. I’ve heard the song dozens of times, you talking isn’t going to ruin it for me.
    And comparing them to polyphia is fine. Where I groan is when I hear “this sounds like an anime intro!”

  • @saldiven2009
    @saldiven2009 Год назад +4

    You mention comparisons to Polyphia and Animals as Leaders, which isn't completely out of left field. They do dabble a bit in some progressive elements in their instrumental pieces.
    One thing I do appreciate about Band-Maid when they do instrumental pieces that those other two bands kind of lose is that Band-Maid instrumentals still have a melody. They often have a musical theme and then do variations upon the theme through the course of the song. Each verse isn't the same as the other verses, even though the melody is still there.
    Like, AoL are a bunch of talented musicians, but sometimes their songs are just total note salad. You could hum the melody to this song, but try humming Polyphia's "Playing God" or Animals as Leaders' "Monomyth." Those bands make songs for musicians to nerd out over; Band-Maid makes songs for people to participate in during a live show.

    • @nerdingoutwithrickshaw7817
      @nerdingoutwithrickshaw7817  Год назад +2

      Yeah I totally feel you. With animals as leaders the songs that are most memorable are the ones with a repeat riff. Lots of their stuff is impressive but I want to love a melody and have it stuck in my head.

    Just do your own thing and enjoy the band. The real fans dont care how you run your videos, they'll just offer up some songs you might like, or talk about individual band members. To that end:
    Blooming (music video) -> pop rock with nice guitar solo
    Rinne (music video) -> metal song made after someone in Japan said they were too soft
    Daydreaming (music video) -> something soft for a change lol
    Special mention:
    Band-Maiko - Gion-Cho (music video) -> wear kimono and have traditional instruments weaved in with the regular rock stuff, also video has subtitles now
    Band-Maiko - Secret Maiko Lips (music video) -> as above BUT most people do a reaction of back 2 back with the original rock song called "Secret My Lips"
    Band-Maiko was an April Fools release, and the band said online they'll be changing their name and style of music, etc as a joke. Turns out people liked it so much they want the joke to keep going and have them release more of this stuff.

    Oh, so you have encountered the meme of "Shut up! Kanami is speaking!" Yeah, that's a in-joke. Some get ovezealous and undersell the joke part. Sorry about that. (Band-Maid is a comedy in their own estimation - serious about their music, but for the rest it's a comedy.) But as for picking the right song, seems you haven't yet encountered "Pick anything - literally..." or "What's you favourite B-M song? - The last one you listened to." And you have yet to discover that this is. a Pigeon Cult? (of the Small Pigeon variety. Po!)

    Don't pay much attention to it all, not worth it... The only reason fans of this band get very specific with their requests is, people love their live performances, and they started a world tour in 2020 with a full professional video and sound crew to get all the quality recordings from these shows. Well, they just got the started and Covid came along and shut it all down. So, the high-quality live video you would want for a first listen reaction is not always available. Some songs you'll hear "do the live, do the live..." other songs you will get requests for the MV. Their last tour here in the US only has cam video available, not really suitable for a first listen reaction. Many Band Maid fans might actually be trying to steer you towards the best available experience with their specific requests. Others are just whining.
