Best rock band ever. These girls rock and never disappoint. Listen to "Domination" Live or "Freedom" Live next. You're missing out on Saiki's and Miku's vocals.
I like that their all in disorder. The lead guitar plays the singer part, the bass act as the lead guitar and the second guitar is doing the bass part. And the drummer is just solid all the way through. Great band!
Kanami , the lead guitarist has played piano since she was 4 or thereabouts, she picked up the guitar in high school when she noticed that the other girls loved the guitar players and being very shy she thought it would be a good way to help her make friends. Her guitar hero is Carlos Santana but it was when she heard Larry Carlton that she decided to get really serious with her guitar playing. She is, by the way, the composer of the band, Miku on rhythm being the lyricist.
Really nice breakdown Ed. I was going to say something like this, but you nailed it. The back story of this band and its members is possibly even better than their music haha
@@sugaanessena3143 Yes, but I never use that on a reactor's first reaction to Band-Maid as they don't know what it means as they have no context. I do the same for Babymetal and their Fox Hole.
Domination Live has earned it's spot as the goto first recommendation for people that stumble into Band Maid for the first time. It gives you a real feel for the band. It's basically the band's theme song at this point, or to use your idea, this is what they'd walk out to if they magically turned into wrestlers
Through the US Tour, and the Japan tour with GnR, this was used to open the show. They did some of their other instrumentals and Miku's songs to give Saiki her break

Band-Maid to me is the best band in the world right now...all 5 members are great musicians. they write and produce their own music...it's really a perfect grouping. Welcome to the Band-Maid community :)
Misa the bass player generally uses a pick, it enables her to play faster and also gives a sharper ( I think chunkier) tone. She also employs slapping as she is very adept at switching between pick and slap and will play fingerstyle when it's appropriate for the song.
@@PoppaPryce One of the best ever, Chris Squire, used a pick when appropriate. Others have too but somewhere along the way, a stigma was attached to it. I say the more different ways you can play, and different tones you can create, the better. Limiting yourself to one way to play is a ridiculous concept. Like a painter using half a palette.
@@interstellardave Pretty much so. MISA started on a four string Fender jazz bass using her fingers, and now she's using five string basses and picking, slapping, finger-picking; whatever the song calls for. She's one of the most versatile bassist I've ever heard.
From JAPAN ■Introducing BAND-MAID and the latest information. Thank you for reaction BAND-MAID. (^^♪ BAND-MAID is a five-member girls rock band. They are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. The members have not changed. They are a hard rock band and fans consider them one of the best hard rock bands in the world. They usually have 20 songs and 2 hour gig. Formed in Japan in 2013, led by side guitarist Miku Kobato. Kobato has experience working at a maid cafe in Akihabara, Tokyo, and came up with the idea of playing cool music in her maid outfit. That's why the band was named BAND-MAID. "Thrill" was the first music video of 2014, reaching 2 million views in 2 weeks, and they escaped disbandment and decided to become a hard rock band. Also, they perform LIVE overseas and increase the number of fans. Now they write, compose and arrange all their songs. 130 original songs. And 46 songs have been released on the official RUclips, all of which are killer songs. ■ They will be the opening act for Japanese rock band The Last Rock Stars American performances on February 3rd, 4th, and 10th. ■ They have just finished their13 gig tour in the US. ■ 10th Anniversary Concert at Tokyo Garden Theater on January 9th of this year. They just finished 2.5 hours of 26 songs and Long Alive tickets are now on sale. ★They will participate in "Welcome to Rockville 2023" and "SONIC TEMPLE 2023" in the United States. ★They will have a US tour in May and August of this year. ■ Official videos are often not blocked. ■ ■ Hard Rock : Rinne・ DICE ・Thrill ・Unleash!!!!・ Sense・ Warning! ・After life ■ Cool Rock : Influencer ・Bubble ・Manners・ Nonfiction Days ・YOLO ・Different・ Blooming ■ Great Live : DOMINATION ・PLAY ・FREEDOM ・REAL EXISTENC ・CROSS ・CHOOSE ME ■ Power ballad : Wonderland ・Endless story ・Daydreaming ・About us ■ Acoustic : "Catharsis" Acoustic Ver. ・Sayonakidori" Acoustic Ver. ■ Instrumental : from now on ・On set ■ English lyrics : Dragon Cry ・Don't Let Me Down (not their lyrics) ■ Japanese Style : Secret Maiko Lips・ Gioncho (April Fool's Day Gift BAND MAIKO Version) ■ My favorite song right now is the band version and acoustic version of "Puzzle". (^^♪ BAND MEMBER They are unique, serious, shy and cute women. Miku Kobato : Side guitar, backing vocals, lyricist, band founder, publicist, good at cooking. Saiki : lead vocalist and youngest, Members refer to her as teacher and make a lot of decisions. good at cooking. Kanami : Lead guitar, composer (prolific genius), good at piano. hobby is reading. good at making sweets. Akane : Drummer, good at funny faces, big eater. loves anime. She has many friends. Misa : Bassist, playing with bare feet. She is the most shy and reticent. she is good at cooking (^^♪
@@Running-withscissors Thank you for your reply. Since last year, I started a new job, so I haven't posted as much as I used to. This is a sentence introducing BAND-MAID only for the first reactor, and only the latest news is rewritten. Their cooking was introduced on various occasions, and I knew that Kobato and Misa were good at cooking. Recently, Saiki introduced herself and said that she is good at cooking. Kanami has been talking about making sweets for a long time, but she seems to have started cooking as well. Akane likes to eat, but it seems she was not good at cooking, but recently she seems to have started cooking with the help of the members. Their cooking is sometimes introduced in fan club videos. I made it by imitating Kobato's mille-feuille pot, it was very delicious. Their cooking stories make them feel closer.
The BAND-MAID effect has taken over. DO NOT adjust your screens. DO NOT adjust your volume. What you see and hear is real, FUN and AWESOME. Always. And then they do it LIVE!!!!! Have a hunky dory day. Peace. 9.48
Happened to start with their one instrumental. They do have a fantastic singer. BTW they have a song called DICE with one of the best ever openings with drums and bass. Check it out!
I remember the 1st time I heard these girls 3 years ago. They blew me away. You are on the road to a lot of great music. MISA, the barefoot assassin on bass. Miku, the little pigeon on rhythm and backing vocals. Kanami, The Riff Goddess on lead plus she is the main writer. And the beautiful ice princess Saiki on vocals. So much good music in front of you!
Actually, Kanami started playing guitar in high school...although she has played piano since she was 3. Kanami (lead guitar) and Miku (rhythm guitar/vocals) write the vast majority of BAND-MAID's songs.
Great. Best Rock Band in the Earth?...no, Best Rock Band in the Planet?...no, Best Rock Band in the Universe ?... Yes. This is a fact, and wait until you see them live, (official or fancam), with their amaizing singer or without her. Pick any song, yes, any song and go to the 'Unseen World'(You will understand later ) and sorry, this song is a snack, a marvellous snack, but nothing yet. Be ready for the impact...

Welcome to the Pigeon Hole... now.. just go find any live performance .. sit back and enjoy the best band going.....and yeah Domination Live Freedom Live .. No God Live .. I saw them at Aftershock last year and this is the first song they played on the 2022 US Tour ! I was blown away my maids were evolving how happy i was =)
Welcome to the Maidiacs!! Believe it or not, that's just the tip of the iceberg and the more you hear from them and get to know them, the more you'll love 'em! Some suggestions: Domination, Play, Freedom, Onset (instrumental), Real Existence - all Live, because that's when they really shine! (Best MV's: Blooming, Thrill, The Non-Fiction Days, Dice, Secret My Lips, Unleash) Thanks!🤘🤩🤘
Since this song is an instrumental song, there are no vocals, but regular songs have strong vocals. This song was created to raise the awareness of the audience at the opening of the live. They are working with 5 people. Vocal: Saiki Rhythm Guitar & Vocals: Miku Kobato Lead Guitar: Kanami Tohno Base: Misa Drums: Akane Hirose They always provide songs that don't disappoint the audience. There are really a lot of songs I recommend, but if I carefully select 3 songs. 1. Blooming (Official Music Video) ruclips.net/video/uUt_JBMocKM/видео.html 2. DOMINATION (Official Live Video) ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html 3. FREEDOM (Official Live Video) ruclips.net/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/видео.html In addition to the three songs above, there are many catchy, hard and melodious songs, so please enjoy them.
Hard rock, not heavy metal, but yea, lots to explore... and aaah...yea...lead guitar, bass and drums are all natural born talents (that also do the grind and put in the work).
Welcome to the fandom! Best rock band on the planet! ♥ I suggest these Band Maid songs: Thrill, Dice, Manners, Bubble, No God (live) & Turn Me On (live) The last song is not on their youtube channel. Link - ruclips.net/video/l9ibUQ-V-Z4/видео.html
Only the greatest band you never heard of..... Check out "Domination" LIVE to hear them with their lead singer. Stay with these girls, they're for real. GIZE!! .....glad you liked them.
Welcome aboard, Poppa Pryce. You are embarking on (along with many others - 165 million YT views plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (124 songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ruclips.net/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/видео.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits like Sense, Glory and Unleash (from their own Anime MV (series?)): ruclips.net/video/7LB_EPS48HE/видео.html) And many songs are represented with over 45 well produced music videos. ruclips.net/user/BANDMAID Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts: ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” ruclips.net/video/nAdWnIRjGak/видео.html Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (February 14, 2020) “Domination” ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html ZEPP 2018 “Real Existence” ruclips.net/video/-qQnKILR5u0/видео.html Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and other full concerts are on bandmaidprime.tokyo, bili, and official Band-Maid’s DVD/BD/CD. “P and D²” 30+ Photo Collage videos at www.youtube.com/@PinD2/videos And some of the better quality fan videos are excellent. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009 Band-Maid Members: Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 28 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 31 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 31 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 32 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 30 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans. [BAND-MAID NEWS] BAND-MAID PRIME - Special Video Distribution Website. Welcome & Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) * For your info. Canadian band "Rush" came and play in Japan in 1984. Four concerts including one at Budokan, the same legendary arena where Beatles played. Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
Have you heard of Influencer yet? If not, watch Influencer next. Because it's a complete BAND-MAID with vocals in recent MVs. If you want to listen to another instrumental song, i recommend 'Without Holding Back', which has a more funky bass and double kick drums. After that, if it's BAND-MAID, anything is so good.
They are an earthquake ... a tsunami ... a tornado of musical energy that cannot be stopped ... hold on to your hats folks ... they are crushing the competition ...
Man these Rock and Metal bands from Japan are all killing it right now and Band Maid is just the tip of the iceberg even Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin attended one of their shows, here’s another all female Japanese metal band to check out: LOVEBITES and their song Judgment Day ruclips.net/video/m3uGjp-P7DI/видео.html if you dare lol
Within the Rock Genre, you wont find many bands as versatile as these ladies. So many suggestions for songs to react too. You want Blues Rock, check out manners, you want stadium rock, Endless Story, you want a ballad? Daydreaming. Something more along Math/Prog, Blackhole. And they are just as good live as they are in the studio. Domination is usually where people start on their live stuff, and Thrill which is an older song, is usually where people start off on their journey. One of my personal favorites is Blooming. Very high intensity. The lead singer Saiki, is just as amazing. Her voice is her instrument and carries just as hard as everyone else.
BAND-MAID - live songs Freedom, Domination, Play, Dice, Influencer, Thrill, On Set, Real Existence, all songs with guitar and bass solo's.. Bro, its time for J-Rock/Metal all Japanese female Bands..another TOP Metal/Rock Bands LOVEBITES - new song Judgement Day, live songs Set The World On Fire, Break The Wall, The Hammer Of Wrath, Holy War..all songs is in English and with crazy dual guitars solo's.. NEMOPHILA - new songs Seize The Fate, ZEN, other songs Revive, Dissension, Raitei..all songs with crazy dual 7string guitars solo's.. HANABIE - songs We Love Sweets(don't judge a song by its title), NEET GAME, new song Pardon Me.. ASTERISM(female guitarist), songs Dawn, Rising Moon, Blaze, Church, all songs with crazy guitar solo's and 7string bass solo's..
When I first heard Band Maid, I immediately thought they were a heavy hard rock band bordering on heavy metal from the 1980s. The lead guitar Kanami Tōno has that play style of a Joe Satriani and/or Eric Johnson. The drummer Akane Hirose is ultra fast, tight, and clean with beats exceeding 200 bpm. The bassist Misa has no comparison with some of the best solo bass section plays I've every heard. The lead singer Saiki Atsumi has a strong voice with speed to do rap and the style that borders between bands like Heart and the Runaways. Miku Kobato started the band and she does the vocals, guitar, and she is the lead spokesman for the band. What I love about the band is the diverse musical styles they have put into their repertoire with a main focus on heavy rock that moves into metal, disco, funk, blues, jazz, rap, and progressive instrumental rock. They are basically god level professional musicians that are technically disciplined.
MISA! MISA! MISA! Holding the line in Solid Guitar Rock, Band Maid has picked up the Mantel of Rock'n'Roll where the West has left it behind! More Band Maid Always!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
I am posting the first part of an information file. I post this to all new reactors of Band-Maid. Due to RUclips's filters I have to split it up into multiple comments. To get the rest of the file, someone needs to post a reply to this comment. Welcome to the BEST LIVE HARD ROCK BAND IN THE WORLD!!!! 98% of their songs are best viewed LIVE. There are a few where the MV is better until the Ladies release a new LIVE version of those songs. Of which "Warning" is one. Car chases, explosions, beautiful women and Hard Rock, it is all in there. There are one or two others, but those are debated heavily between us Maidiacs. You will find that Band Maid has an EXTREMELY Loyal and Protective as well as Supportive Fan Base. We call ourselves Maidiacs (Maid EE Acts). Many of us are on the Band Maid Fans Discord, and we will search out new reactions to Our Ladies music, daily, sometimes hourly. 😁 Band Maid Is; (In order of joining band) Name/Age: Nickname: Position: Miku Kobato Small Pigeon/ Band Founder, Secondary Lead Vocalist, Rhythm Guitarist, Main Lyricist, Age: 31 Koba/Kuruppo/ Backing Vocals, Backing Tracks, Arrangements 10/21/91 Cluppo Kanami Tono Princess/ Lead Guitarist, Primary Composer, Backing Vocals, Keyboards, Backing Tracks Age: 31 Kanamincho/ Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Arrangements 9/28/91 Mincho Akane Hirose Gorilla/ Drums, Percussion, Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Backing Tracks, Age: 32 Ah-Chan Arrangements 12/14/90 MISA Barefoot Assassin/ 5 String Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Backing Tracks Age: 30 MISA-MISA-MISA Arrangements 10/15/92 Saiki Atsumi Ice Queen/ Primary Lead Vocalist, Backing Vocals, Lyricist, Backing Vocals on Backing Age: 28 Sai-Chan/ Tracks, Backing tracks, Arrangements 2/8/94 Sensei (Teacher) And yes this is one of the Ladies instrumentals. They have several strictly instrumental songs, then they have also released instrumental versions of other of their songs. And while this may be an instrumental, there IS singing. Between Kanami and MISA's instruments, you are hearing virtuoso's. And Kanami has been playing guitar since she was around 17, maybe a little bit before. She has been playing the piano however since before her 4th birthday, so she was already a talented musician when she went to learn how to play guitar. MISA the bass player and Akane the drummer also learned how to play piano as children. Miku, the rhythm guitarist however has only been playing guitar for about 8 and half years, and is considered by many to be one of the top 50 Live Rhythm guitarists currently. To get the remainder of the information file, I would need someone to post a reply to this comment.
@@Timber1508 Thankee. Here is the remainder of the file. Band Maid was started in 2013 by Miku Kobato. At the time she had just left the Idol Group, Lil Cumin and she didn't like the type of music she had been performing. She approached her management agency with the idea of making an actual band playing rock music but dressed as maids. She had worked in a Maid Cafe and thought the image of maids playing rockin music would create what she called "The Gap" between what you see and what you hear. The Management company was like Ok, go ahead. Miku then looked around and found Kanami a singer/songwriter who was posting her own videos on the internet. Miku had her agency contact her and Kanami thought the idea was cool and agreed to join. Miku then asked if Kanami knew a drummer who might be interested. Kanami had worked with Akane in the past and there is 2 versions of this, the first is, Kanami literally walked over to Akane's apartment and asked her, the second is Kanami called Akane and asked her. (Akane has said in 2 different interviews that 1: Kanami called her and asked if she could come over and 2: in a second interview Kanami just came over) Akane was actually hesitant as she had worked in an "All Girl Group" before and didn't enjoy it as it wasn't the type of music she wanted to play. After hearing a Demo, Akane was like ok, but was still slightly hesitant because of the "Maid Outfits", but she agreed to give it a try. Akane was asked if she knew a bass player and she had gone to Tokyo School of Music with MISA and had worked a couple of jobs with her. So Misa was contacted and after she heard a demo she was like I like the music, but she also was hesitant about the "Maid Outfits", but she relented and joined in as she really wanted to play the kind of music she heard in the demo. The 3 of them then "Auditioned" for the record company and passed the audition. Now we have the "Core" members. The 4 members worked out some songs provided for them by the record company, and a setlist and they had performed 3 times with just Miku on main vocals. Miku after those performances felt that her voice wasn't powerful enough to really perform the songs she wanted. So she approached her management company again and asked if they had any singers who weren't in other projects. They then auditioned several singers. Miku heard Saiki rehearsing in a room across the hall and asked if she could be auditioned, the record company then had Saiki audition. Saiki was signed to the same management company and had done some work as a backup singer and dancer and was asked if she would be interested in auditioning for this new group which currently had 4 members and she would be the fifth. She had been a member of a group with 8 other people as a backup singer and dancer, and HATED it. So she listened to the demo and thought "Cool" because she liked the music. Now we come to the tricky part. Miku KNEW that if Saiki was told about the "Maid Outfits" she would say NO WAY!, so they didn't tell her. They told her they would have "Cool/cute Clothes"(I've read it translated either way), and she never met Miku until a few days before they had a contracted performance. She wasn't told about the "Maid Outfits" until the day before the performance, and she had considered backing out, but she had signed the contract. (Saiki also had NEVER met Miku until then as well) So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing. She DIDN'T like the apron she wore so it got ditched after the first performance. And you now have the beginnings of the BEST LIVE HARD ROCK BAND in the WORLD! ALL HAIL BAND MAID!!!!! Now that we have the Full band, it was felt that there needed to be a second guitar. Saiki was like, "Not Me, No Way." So Miku said, "I'll do it.", at first that was literally all she did, was hold the guitar and mime playing it, until Akane said, if you are going to hold it, you NEED to learn to play it. And Miku said, "Ok.", and Kanami started to teach Miku how to play. The Ladies released their first album in 2014 "Maid in Japan" which failed to chart, but later after "Thrill" it was reissued and charted to #26 in Japan.
Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning" On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"... The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. (Little known fact, Miku helped with the lyrics on Thrill but did not get credited) This became the seminal moment of Band Maid. Because their second album charted at #64, the record company was seriously considering disbanding the Ladies and switching them to other projects. (In fact they had Kanami and Akane work with Mochi to Cheese thinking that when Band Maid cratered they could use them in another band. MISA had also just started working with Mochi to Cheese as well). However about 6 months after the video's release, a Facebook page "JRock Radio" posted the video to their timeline. And the video went viral. Having over a million views in just a few short weeks. The Ladies Twitter page got so many hits they thought their page had been hacked. Their RUclips channel also started getting more and more subscribers and views to Thrill. Now the ladies knew where their fans wanted them to go. Harder Rock, less pop. And history was Maid. If you would like any more information, please feel free to ask.
You are very entertaining... So: you have ope ned the floodgates. Why do you love this? Because they may be the best rock group in the world today (I think they are). They are certainly the most creative. You are going to get a lot of suggestions. First, a little background on the girls: Saiki Atsumi - Lead vocals Born Feb 8, 1994 28 years old MISA - Bass Born Oct 15, 1992 30 years old Kanami Tono - Lead guitar Composer and main arranger Born Sept 28, 1991 31 years old Miku Kobato - Rhythm guitar, backing vocal Born Oct 21, 1991 31 years old Akane Hirose - Drums Born Dec 14, 1990 32 years old Miku was working in a Maid Café after being in an idol group that didn’t break through. She envisoned the idea of a maid-band that plays hard rock and metal. She recruited Kanami, after finding a Kanami guitar cover on line; Kanami then recruited Akane, who recruited MISA. Akane and MISA had been students together at the Tokyo Music Academy. The group decided they needed more vocal “oomph”, and collectively recruited Saiki. Miku didn't know how to play guitar when they started, so Kanami has been teaching her. She's become good so fast that she is really adding to the music mix, and Maidiacs are daring to dream of a dual solo. Next, you have to listen to them live. They are that rare band that sound perfect live, even better than in the studio. This is what these four amazing ladies do to give the lead singer a break. With vocals, this band is great! Here Kanami, lead guitar, is doing the singing! The road is long on the Band-Maid journey, but worth every inch!
+1 more for domination, LIVE of course. This band has over 100 songs. I have a hard time finding any songs that I do not like. Their live videos are the bomb.
Band Maid is ranked the #1 Rock/Metal band in Japan. They toured the US in 2022 and will be in the US this year. For vocals - "Freedom" and/or "Domination" There are 200+ Rock/Metal bands Japan with about 45% all female, the rest are generally a mix. So you are way behind the curve. SO here some to checkout; Lovebites - "Holy War" Nemophlia - "Seize the Fate" They will be touring the US in March. Unlucky Morpheus - "Black Pentagram" Hanabie - "We Love Sweets" HAVE FUN
Wait until you hear their vocalist. Every performer in this quintet has a deep talent stack. Composition, Lyrics, Musicianship, Showmanship, the list goes on. They are incredible. They are just starting their tenth anniversary and have a HUGE tour schedule this year. They are in America as I write this. They will be opening act for the the three "The Last RockStars" concerts in NYC and LA. Their first year or two were, well, uh, difficult. Their management almost dissolved the band. Band-Maid did not know this when they made a MV for the song "Thrill". If they had not disregarded the record company and shot "Thrill" instead of the song the record company asked for, and the MV not taken off on FaceBook and RUclips they would have been split up and disappeared. They have written a huge catalog of songs, every one of them good, some of them amazing. Most are hard rockers, but I must warn you that when they slow down and do soft and gentle, they are devastating.
Band Maid, Lovebites and Babymetal are the 3 Top Groups from Japan at the Moment. All playing Metal but different sounds. All 3 are worth it to listen to them
Okay, names, pronunciation, nicknames, and roles, in order that they joined the band. Miku Kobato - mee-koo - Kuruppo, the Little Pigeon, the Little Engine Who Will - band founder, backing (and occasionally lead) vocals, rhythm guitar, principal lyricist, tireless Spokespigeon and PR machine. Wielder of weapons grade cuteness. So determined to see her band succeed that she fired herself as lead singer (she decided her voice wasn't strong enough for hard rock), then went looking for a replacement. Learned to play guitar after the band was formed. Kanami Tono - kah-nah-mee - Kanamincho or just Mincho - lead guitar, keyboards, principal composer and arranger. On stage, she's a savant mad riffer with a room temperature IQ and a huge crush on Saiki. In reality, she's a genius, and not just musically- she has a degree in economics with honors from Tokyo University. Akane Hirose - ah-kah-neh - A-chan, the Gorilla - drums, sequencing, snacks, the leader the band doesn't have. What you see is what you get- a cheerful jock with a huge appetite who burns off the calories murdering her drums. Frequently snacks between songs. MISA - mee-sah - the Barefoot Assassin, MISA MISA MISA! - bass, booze, occasional wet work. Usually stone faced. Barely acknowledges the audience's existence. Always has a beer or a bottle of Jim Beam on her Orange amp. Originally, these were ways of coping with stage fright. These days, that's just how the assassin rolls. Saiki Atsumi - sah-ee-kee (but Psyche is close enough) - the Ice Queen, Sensei, Sai-chan - lead vocals, some lyrics, the "We're done" girl. Fashionista and train nerd. In total command on stage; hides behind Miku off stage (she's actually kind of shy). And, this song being an instrumental, she's not in this video.
Well, Misa (Base guitar)didn't play base guitar in her childhood and if we Look at Minu, she only started playong Guitsr a few Years ago, when she saw that they needed an additional guitar but she didn't want to hire an additional member. Kanami is their real guitar Player Player and the composer. Yes, Misa sometimes uses an additional plektrum that she sometimes hieß in her Hand. But we see if they go instrumental they are one of the tightest Group ever. Thry started in 2013 and then battled themselves through many yeats with limited success. They only stsrted a few yesrs ago to find success. They were offered a few years ago a Chance to play in the US. There they had an electricaö shortcut and had to improvise a bit so that the show could go on. Thrn they were offered the first Chance to play at bigger locations in Japan. Inly then they really started real money, after nearly 10 years.
6:30 - MISA (the bassist) seamlessly alternates between pick and plucking. That's how good she is. You see that closely with Domination. Speaking of which, now you have to react to these as well: Domination (2020 Live) - ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html Freedom (2020 Live) - ruclips.net/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/видео.html Warning! - ruclips.net/video/9yD3IqrLtPk/видео.html Choose me - ruclips.net/video/MZIJ2vFxu9Y/видео.html Onset - ruclips.net/video/mVrN-j_Uc0U/видео.html Influencer - ruclips.net/video/e_bEf1C0spY/видео.html Dice - ruclips.net/video/ZpAYnVJX9CY/видео.html The Dragon Cries - ruclips.net/video/skEkpogsmE0/видео.html
@@PoppaPryce Typically the Live version is better, but that particular one is from an online concert during covid where there aren't fans, so I prefer the video personally.
They consider themselves Hard Rock, but Metal is among their influences. There are 5 of them, but lead vocalist, Saiki, isn't in this one. But Lead Guitarist, Kanami, dosn't just play guitar, when you hear the piano, or other keyboards, that's her too. MISA decided that BAND-MAID songs had to be played with a pick on a 5 String Bass, but when she slaps, she tucks the pick in the crease of her forefinger. Try 'Domination' LIVE next.
There's a host of great female bands in Japan, I've seens a comment from Clive below mentioning just some. Band-Maid are certainly among the best you'll see anywhere, but there's something for everyone's tastes. Lovebites (more metal-oriented) are back in action again after their original bass player and founder Miho left and a couple of members had babies (and all their songs, bar one, are in English). Asterism are actually 2 brothers + an extraordinary girl guitarist, pretty much all instrumental. One band that was missed on that list, as it contains guys, is Unlucky Morpheus, with singer Fuki and violinist Jill. And if you want something really unusual then check out Wagakki Band, who combine modern instruments with traditional Japanese ones. They've had Amy Lee of Evanescence as a guest artist at one of their concerts for a performance of Bring Me To Life, although most of their songs are more traditional.
It's called the kanami slap she's got the whole innocent cute look down pat then goes and slaps you across the face with how good her guitar ability is and misa is just down right dangerous when it comes to playing the bass the best part is she's improved from the 4 string to a 5 string and quite possibly has the capacity to play a 6 string if she could or would be bothered to learn it
It's a weird way to start a BAND-MAID journey with an instrumental...They have so many great songs with vocals, most are (and yeah...some great instrumentals too). The greatest hard rock band around today.
You got to hear the vocal of QUEEN SAIKI first to judge BAND-MAID as a whole Try MANNERS or maybe PUZZLE to fully known what is QUEEN SAIKI capable of Long live BAND-MAID

I cant wait to hear them with vocals!

She is, by the way, the composer of the band, Miku on rhythm being the lyricist.
i could tell she played the piano! look at her fingers move! lol
Really nice breakdown Ed. I was going to say something like this, but you nailed it.
The back story of this band and its members is possibly even better than their music haha
Kanami is literally Bocchi the Rock.

@@sugaanessena3143 Yes, but I never use that on a reactor's first reaction to Band-Maid as they don't know what it means as they have no context. I do the same for Babymetal and their Fox Hole.

The Maids use this song to give Saiki their lead singer a break in the middle of their concert. Domination live will blow your socks off.
@@mlm5150 Watched all their US Tours on RUclips and they only opened with From Now On at Aftershock and when they opened for Guns.

Welcome to Band-Maid Poppa Pryce!
Misa the bass player generally uses a pick, it enables her to play faster and also gives a sharper ( I think chunkier) tone. She also employs slapping as she is very adept at switching between pick and slap and will play fingerstyle when it's appropriate for the song.
yeah i dont think ive seen another bass player using a pick before, but it works for her!
To know BAND-MAID is to love BAND-MAID. Welcome and enjoy.
From JAPAN ■Introducing BAND-MAID and the latest information. Thank you for reaction BAND-MAID. (^^♪
BAND-MAID is a five-member girls rock band.

How did you forget Akane the gorilla on drums?
no no you don't forget about Akane the gorilla
Actually, Kanami started playing guitar in high school...although she has played piano since she was 3. Kanami (lead guitar) and Miku (rhythm guitar/vocals) write the vast majority of BAND-MAID's songs.

Welcome to the Maidiacs!! Believe it or not, that's just the tip of the iceberg and the more you hear from them and get to know them, the more you'll love 'em! También tienen una cantante que está en el mismo nivel que esas 4 genios.
Domination live is a good intro to the vocalist or Freedom , Play, Real Existence also live
wait till you hear them with saiki and miku's vocals lol. "Play" official live maybe?
Domination and Freedom and Dice are great Band Maid songs to start with. Always choose the official live version. They put on a great show.
You should check out another great band from Japan called Nemophila and their song "Adabana"!
Several seconds of stunned silence followed by “What the hell was that?!!!”
Perfection reaction to your first Band-Maid experience - well done!
Since this song is an instrumental song, there are no vocals, but regular songs have strong vocals.
This song was created to raise the awareness of the audience at the opening of the live.
They are working with 5 people.
Vocal: Saiki
Rhythm Guitar & Vocals: Miku Kobato
Lead Guitar: Kanami Tohno
Base: Misa
Drums: Akane Hirose
They always provide songs that don't disappoint the audience.
There are really a lot of songs I recommend, but if I carefully select 3 songs.
1. Blooming (Official Music Video) ruclips.net/video/uUt_JBMocKM/видео.html
2. DOMINATION (Official Live Video) ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html
3. FREEDOM (Official Live Video) ruclips.net/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/видео.html
In addition to the three songs above, there are many catchy, hard and melodious songs, so please enjoy them.
You should react to BandMaid Play(the remastered version has a better intro but the regular is fine too)
Hard rock, not heavy metal, but yea, lots to explore... and aaah...yea...lead guitar, bass and drums are all natural born talents (that also do the grind and put in the work).

But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits like Sense, Glory and Unleash (from their own Anime MV (series?)): ruclips.net/video/7LB_EPS48HE/видео.html)
And many songs are represented with over 45 well produced music videos. ruclips.net/user/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts:

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.
For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009
Band-Maid Members:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies.

(Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
* For your info.
You kept saying "Guys" and I thought you were saying DICE. Which is a great song by Band-Maid. Check it out!
Thank you for reacting to Band-Maid.
Best hard rock band in the world right now. You have a fun ride ahead of you. 😁
These girls rip brother. Tough to find a better band out there. I am a proud Maidiac!
MISA!!! MISA!!! MISA!!! 🥃🥃🥃 Badass Bass Assassin

Best band in the world 🤘🎎🤘🎎
MISA! MISA!
Band Maid Is; (In order of joining band)
Name/Age: Nickname: Position:
Miku Kobato Small Pigeon/ Band Founder, Secondary Lead Vocalist, Rhythm Guitarist, Main Lyricist,
Age: 31 Koba/Kuruppo/ Backing Vocals, Backing Tracks, Arrangements

Kanami Tono Princess/ Lead Guitarist, Primary Composer, Backing Vocals, Keyboards, Backing Tracks

Saiki Atsumi Ice Queen/ Primary Lead Vocalist, Backing Vocals, Lyricist, Backing Vocals on Backing
Age: 28 Sai-Chan/ Tracks, Backing tracks, Arrangements
2/8/94 Sensei (Teacher)
And yes this is one of the Ladies instrumentals.

(Saiki also had NEVER met Miku until then as well)
So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing.
Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning"
On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"...
The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. (Little known fact, Miku helped with the lyrics on Thrill but did not get credited)
This became the seminal moment of Band Maid.
I would recomend Rinne, Play, Manners, Dice for starterd. And they are always amazing live.
You are very entertaining... So: you have ope ned the floodgates. Why do you love this? Because they may be the best rock group in the world today (I think they are). They are certainly the most creative.
You are going to get a lot of suggestions. First, a little background on the girls:
Saiki Atsumi - Lead vocals Born Feb 8, 1994 28 years old
MISA - Bass Born Oct 15, 1992 30 years old
Kanami Tono - Lead guitar Composer and main arranger Born Sept 28, 1991 31 years old
Miku Kobato - Rhythm guitar, backing vocal Born Oct 21, 1991 31 years old
Akane Hirose - Drums Born Dec 14, 1990 32 years old
Miku was working in a Maid Café after being in an idol group that didn’t break through.

🤙🏼
+1 more for domination, LIVE of course. This band has over 100 songs. I have a hard time finding any songs that I do not like. Their live videos are the bomb.
Band Maid is ranked the #1 Rock/Metal band in Japan. They toured the US in 2022 and will be in the US this year.
For vocals - "Freedom" and/or "Domination"
There are 200+ Rock/Metal bands Japan with about 45% all female, the rest are generally a mix. So you are way behind the curve.
SO here some to checkout;
Lovebites - "Holy War"
Nemophlia - "Seize the Fate" They will be touring the US in March.
Unlucky Morpheus - "Black Pentagram"
Hanabie - "We Love Sweets"
HAVE FUN
BAND-MAID is the best band ever. Po!
great reaction / review ty
Freedom live, Influencer, Thrill
Do some more BAND MAID!!! 😁
GUYS! I think he likes it! 😉
Best band!!
6:30 - MISA (the bassist) seamlessly alternates between pick and plucking. That's how good she is. You see that closely with Domination. Speaking of which, now you have to react to these as well:
Domination (2020 Live) - ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html
Freedom (2020 Live) - ruclips.net/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/видео.html

Check out their music video called Different, that one has lyrics.
do u prefer the studio version or live version? im getting alot of live recommendations
Try 'Domination' LIVE next.
the recruitment was more like, "do you know someone good for the band ?"
It's called the kanami slap she's got the whole innocent cute look down pat then goes and slaps you across the face with how good her guitar ability is and misa is just down right dangerous when it comes to playing the bass the best part is she's improved from the 4 string to a 5 string and quite possibly has the capacity to play a 6 string if she could or would be bothered to learn it
GUYS! Haha welcome to japanese rock/metal gotta check out the all female Japanese rock/metal band called Nemophila and their song Adabana or Revive!
It's a weird way to start a BAND-MAID journey with an instrumental...They have so many great songs with vocals, most are (and yeah...some great instrumentals too). The greatest hard rock band around today.
Yup, there's a vocalist you haven't heard yet. You'll get lots and lots of suggestions and they're all good. I'm partial to "Dice" but take your pick.
You got to hear the vocal of QUEEN SAIKI first to judge BAND-MAID as a whole
Try MANNERS or maybe PUZZLE to fully known what is QUEEN SAIKI capable of
Long live BAND-MAID
Domination "LIVE"
❤Miku❤❤Kanami❤❤Misa❤❤Akane❤❤Saiki❤
Love watching people lose their BAND-MAID cherry.... !!!

clever reaction. See what I did here ;-)
I guess you have to react to more Band-Maid to heal yourself from those puny comments ;-)
Kanami besides being self taught guitarist played piano on the backing track
You just discovered the Best Rock Band of Our Time by accident. Make Sure to Check out the Freedon Live Video and the official Video for Warning. Influencer is also pretty Goddamn Good. They actually have No Bad Song hard to believe but True
There's 99 comments so I figured I'd leave the 100th.
And the only thing BAND-MAID are going to clean is your clock. 😜

You mean "best five" - you haven't heard Saiki yet... 👍😎🥰Their channel, for folks who haven't already done so, to bookmark - www.youtube.com/@BANDMAID/featured
You ever watch the movie Slap Shot with Paul Newman? If not, you should. The National Anthem is a great song. Then you will understand. You do not interrupt Kanami when she is speaking.

Dude you haven’t see nothing yet, this is just one of their simplistic instrumentals, their singer kicks ass.
But whilst you’re in Japan you really gotta check out NEMOPHILA, they are harder-stronger-faster and brutal
ill write em down, thanks for the recommendation!
@@PoppaPryce you won’t be disappointed, I’ve recently discovered the Japanese music scene, man they have saved Rock and metal (I assumed it died in the 90s, haha) here’s a few suggestions and a couple of links you might like to check out 👍🇦🇺🤘
NEMOPHILA. These young girls are ready to take on the world ruclips.net/video/lh-dVLKP314/видео.html
YOUSEI TEIKOKU , again like no other. ruclips.net/video/ZZvJY7_gyfw/видео.html
MAXIMUM THE HORMONE My absolute favourite a mash of metal, rock, Ska, jazz, hip hop, disco, and everything else, again I found a bit difficult at first but so worth the effort ruclips.net/video/beN5ep5MrdY/видео.html or ruclips.net/video/IC-wDpwzEt4/видео.html
These few are just the tip of the iceberg of the wild Japanese rock-metal scene, one thing that’s for sure is the style and composition of the music is a little different, surprising in a great way, and the amount of great talented bands is seemingly endless with all girl metal bands dominating
🤘🇹🇭🤭
