- Capris singing "There's A Moon Out Tonight" on The "Harvey Holiday Street Corner Live".
Lyrics:
There's a moon out tonight, whoa-oh-oh, ooh
Let's go strollin'
There's a girl in my heart, whoa-oh-oh, ooh
Whose heart I've stolen
There's a moon out tonight (whoa-oh-oh, ooh)
Let's go strollin' through the park
There's a glow in my heart, whoa-oh-oh, ooh
I never felt before
There's a girl at my side, whoa-oh-oh, ooh
That I adore
There's a glow in my heart I never felt before
Oh darlin'
Where have you been?
I've been longin' for you all my life
Whoa, baby, never felt this way before
I guess it's because there's a moon out tonight
Whoa, there's a glow in my heart, whoa-oh-oh, ooh
I never felt before
There's a girl at my side, whoa-oh-oh, ooh
That I adore
There's a glow in my heart
I guess it's because
There's a moon out tonight
Moon out tonight
Moon out tonight
Moon out tonight
Moon out tonight.
Real talent lasts a lifetime and does not need cheap gimmicks like today.
I fell in love while this song was playing. She is now my wife.
May the sound of DOO WOP live 4 ever in our hearts.
the sound of doowop lives in my soul .
Forever and ever
YES! I AGREE...DOO WOP LIVES ON FOREVER!! GOD BLESS!
Yes.
Doo wops are by far the best and Real songs. I wish I grew up in the 50's and 60's. But it what it is. I'm 19 years old and always be bumping to oldies. No rap
keep it alive bro.
Ogey
Could not agree more
But it’s so wonderful to have access to today’s tech. I’m a doowopper from long ago, and RUclips let’s me see and hear stuff I never had access to before. Be happy for the time we’re in, because it’s brilliant. Doo Wop till ya drop, my friend. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Same here, much more honest, wholesome, and soulful music and era. Simple and sweet.
Nick Santo (Nick Santamaria) died on December 30, 2010 from heart failure, at the age of 69. RIP.
hello from Hollywood Joe
GOD BLESS YOU FOR POSTING THE MEMORY OF NICK SANTO !
And his wife Pina passed shortly afterwards. Both wonderful people and I was happy to know them both. RIP
I remember like it was yesterday 65 years ago... Nice high school reunion also.. ❤️
I really appreciate doo wop music it’s so incredible. I grew in the 60’s and ‘70’s loving doo wop. Many of those singers have passed on, but my, my, my what a musical legacy they all left present and future generations to listen to, and to be able to see the actual artists who created those masterpieces. Just imagine if there were videos in the classical music composers and artists era; now that would so magical.
The most recognizable doo wop song ever.
His ability to hit those falsetto notes at that age is incredible.
what has ever happened to us(a)??? just great music and great times back then...!!
WE ARE STILL HERE - - JUST STAY HEALTHY ! love from Hollywood Joe !
( GREAT TENOR SAX PLAYER< FANTASTIC FALSETTO & GROUP SINGING)MEADOWBROOK JR. H.S. DANCES, SLOW DANCE BASEMENT PARTIES, & "YOU". GOLDEN MEMORIES OF GROWING UP IN EAST MEADOW, LONG ISLAND.
I saw them a few years back at the Woodbridge, NJ summer concerts. I’m 73, nothing beats this music, and I grew up with Rock n Roll
Absolutely fantastic performance! Nicky still had his voice up until he got sick. One of the best
I pray Doo Wop never ends! Love it!
Keep the oldies coming;....always appreciated.
Right!! can someone please sing like this again?? never. ever. this era is gone and it is a shame!!
Thank you so much for those 50 years of Great memories. Bobby,V.
In the 1970's Doo Wop revivals, at 21 years old, I had the pleasure of playing bass with The Capris, Coasters, Ravens, Drifters, Shirelles, Impalas - everybody. Heaven. They could all sing and were real entertainers. But Nick was "It" to me. Later, I met him at a VFW gig in Mt. Vernon, NY, but we had to drag him up to the stage, to a standing ovation. He killed. He told me that he didn't want to get up because he was wearing one brown shoe and the other, black! Absolutely nobody noticed.
So amazingly good! My cousin, a Fresno DJ, turned me onto this song in 1963, singing it to me in my parent's backyard, while visiting. At 14 I was so impressionable and inspired and never forgot that beautiful song. God I love the Internet!!
A sign of a classic - you just never get tired hearing it again and again!
It doesn't get any better than this--solid gold Capris music.
One thing these great groups had that pop music is lacking today: A VOICE!
Now singers today are useing autotune. Doo Wop forever!❤
This music will never die out!!!
In the 60's every paesano in Brooklyn was singing this song on every street corner! At 14 I was one of them! LOL
raoul diblasi I love American music.love from Liverpool England.

Memories of Nicky at ST. Fortunatas and at the archery on cross bay in Queens. So sorry to hear he passed. ❤️❤️🙏🙏He had such a beautiful voice
Yea, when we sang in the bathroom - looking for an echo - "There's a Moon out Tonight" topped the list!
Nick Santo ~ Great lead singer...a retired police officer too ...Rest In Peace Nick
. . . may he rest in peace !!
I like the fact our 'cuzzins' across the pond, the British Roommates, pay tribute to the Capris by doing a fair rendition of their song !
I saw a RUclips video of them, and I agree they did a great cover!
Magnifique!
Beautiful ❤️
Such sweetness! RIP, Nicky…now sing for the angels…your voice was always heavenly.
Same old song bt i never cried before ,never
Wow ! I didnt realize he was hitting the high parts, so it really surprised me at the end. What a powerful voice ! As these groups get older, their voices get better.
This song literally makes me cry. I don't know why and I can't help it..
Can every New York Italian sing great? Yes.
Not me, haha! I’ve tried.
Oh yeah....🇮🇹💜
Thats why its called do WOP
I know zero NYC Italians who can't sing great but...sigh... that's just anecdotal...
This brings back wonderful memories. A romantic, slow-dance song with great harmonies that I will never forget.
I love that song. I vividly remember the late 50's and all the Doo Wop groups like the Capri's and Dion and the Belmont's. I love that music.
IF you don't feel so well listen to this, and at least for a few minutes you will be in heaven !
The singing on this song is so great..pure tone ,stylized & phrasing ...one of my favorites
Yes my era love them & brings tears at same time.
Nick "Santo" Santamaria ... what a lovely voice! I can't stop listening to this song and, even in my 60's, he still makes me swoon! The good old days!
One of the better groups from the day, MY days
Awesome! Wonderful! And the Star Trek uniforms will for sure initiate a whole new generation of baby doo-woppers into the consciousness of LOVE!
Where has all this great music gone to. Keep hitting that great harmony up there Nick you are gone but never will be forgotten
RIP.
Great falsetto as well
Missing this group very much!
I had this record in my teens and I played it over and over. It was just a perfect song. Do wop is the best!
The best music of the 20th century! I love them!
This song is from my era. It feels good and hurts at the same time to hear it. It reminds me of a better time, a better world. The hurt comes from remembering that world compared to what it has become. It reminds me of parents, family members, teachers, neighbors, childhood friends, other songs and traditions. These are the things that made the good ole days good. These are the things I miss so much. They are also the things my children, grandchildren and great grand son have inherited from me. Priceless.
You are so right, never again will we see those days again. I would give anything to go back.
Why can’t we just go back 70 years to when the world was a better place
@@youlose7293 Today will be that better time for the young of today in 50 or 60 years. It was the 1920s for my fathers group, it was always so.

Mike "Mootsie" Mincieli, original first tenor with the Capris died March 15th, 2015 in Largo, Florida. The group had the distinction of having already broken up when their only real hit record charted. The Queens, New York group originally released "There's A Moon Out Tonight" in 1959 to little success and subsequently disbanded. The song was re-released in 1960 and got to #3 the following year, prompting their getting back together. Unfortunately three follow-ups failed to reach the top 70 and by 1963 they dispersed once again. But in 1982 they re-re-formed with Mootsie for the regional hit, "Morse Code of Love." While it didn't chart (except later by the Manhattan Transfer) it became an enduring late doo-wop classic. Mootsie and the Capris were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2007...
May he R.I.P.
sauquoit13456 Are you saying the lead singer in this video died in March of this year?
+sauquoit13456 Thank You. Musical knowledge is good knowledge.
+Dave Wilson Yes, Dave. Of Cancer. But I think it was last year.
+Dave Wilson The lead singer here, on the left, is the original lead - Nick Santo. He passed away as a result of asbestos cancer 2010. The original 1st tenor was Mike Mincieli who passed Mar. 2015. The original baritone Vinnie Narcardo passed away 2007. The singer in the middle is Frank Reina, the original 2nd tenor. The bass on the right is Tommy Ferrara. He and his brother Fred were with the Del Satins
