I am 78 years old and I grew up with this music. We had a lot of Pittsburgh groups back then. I hope that future generations keep this music 🎶 going on and on.
25 and i’ve been listening to this since i was 19, so grateful for youtube and this channel for being able to share memories like this, you’re incredibly lucky to have lived through these times! I often wish i could have lived through those times
I am a 82yo gramma. I was 13 when I found JOCKO, a disk jockey from philly(?). Heard BO DIDDLEY . I NEVER LOOKED BACK. I went thru all other bands and singers, British Invasion, fell in love with the guitar solo, hated rap, cause you can’t dance to it! I still LOVE do wop because I become a Bobby soxer again when I hear it. LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL! God bless all the artists.
Thank you for your service from a Vets Wife, daughter, niece and granddaughter and of course I grew up listening to this music…. Wish we had music like this still
My husband passed away 2 days before Christmas Eve , 2 yrs ago. Tears in my eyes . We grew up with this music ! Married 29 yrs. Skyliners were fantastic. I miss you babe!!!!!
I have been listening to TJ Doo Wop 50 show and many more. I even supported PBS and got the 2 Tapes. I recently bought the Doo Wop 50 in DVD from Amazon cuz my VCR eats my tapes.
This should have tens of millions of views and committed to the National Archives / Library of Congress.... We are losing our culture if we do not fight for it. Back in the 90s, there used to be plenty of golden oldies (pre-1964 British Invasion) radio stations. Now they are extinct.
When you think about it all started with kids on the street singing rock and roll in the 1950’s. So many of them had such good singing voices. That, in itself is amazing! It’s true American culture. No where else in the world was this happening. It’s home grown American exceptionalism! This is the music that spawned the Beatles and everything else that followed....
billmitchell3329, PLEASE! The drugged out Beatles couldn't handle this kind of music. I seriously doubt any from the British invasion would have a clue what this real music was all about. Clean, great harmonies, no foul language, just straight music at it's finest!
My Mom was a teenager back in the 50's (class of '57), and she remembers this great music. I was born in 1968, and all of my teen years were in the 80's, (class of '86), but I absolutely love the great doo wop music of the 50's and early 60's. I wish we could bring this music back! It would be a welcome relief from the garbage on the radio that people try to pass off as music in this day and age! I told my Mom that she and everybody in her generation are lucky to have grown up in such a great era of music.
....loved each other' & The days, when >TRUE Singers didn't NEED the WHOLE 'gimnastics /aerobic teams' behind Them to >Sound GREAT. JUST Their Amazing Voices... Greetings from Poland.
But it had white and black kids starting to hang out an find common ground in music, cars, clothes. We idolized black cats. The Commies inspired riots and The Civil Rights act of 64 put a damper on the progress made in 50s and 60s
Takes me back to my high school days 1952-1956! Got a class reunion coming up on Aug 27-wonder how many of us are still around and a so blessed to show up
Might have been when oldest sister started High School, she and an older brother bought the 78RPM's to replace records that came with jukebox, dad bought used. This was one of them. (The Platters was playing when I typed this) I liked it, but was more fond of the fast songs ~ Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Fats Domino.
The way they harmonize, their outfits, and their sound puts these groups in a class of their own. Unlike today, where most of the groups lóok and sound like they just crawled out from under a rock. These groups are pure perfection... Simply eye and ear candy!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Born in 81, and had radio Stations 93.5 and 100.9 that would play late 50s thru late 60s as "my oldies". Blessed to know them all by heart. Jimmy Beaumont of The Skyliners has one of my favorite voices of all time.
I was born in1956 and love these songs .My aunt was 13 years older then me and when I visited my grandparent we would dance in her room to these songs. Good memories.

I did not know that The Brooklyn Bridge recorded 16 Candles, so did a google search, actually it was first recorded when Johnny Maestro was with The Crests. I was more a 50's child, with 5 older siblings, the first 3 of those 50's so I grew up listening to their music.
The oldies but goodies music will never die when I was cruising down Hotel Street in Honolulu 1958 with my 55 Chevy listen to the oldies until today it still sound the same I have it all on a track and full track tapes believe it or not we used to hang out at the Ala Moana Drive-In down at Waikiki Beach area I will never forget these oldies but goodies kept me happy all through the years 6550 thank you so much for keeping it on LBJ Nowinski thank you so much

I'm almost 72 and I feel like I grew up in the greatest time for music. We had it all. Doo Wop, early R&R and R&B, girl groups, folk music, the British Invasion, American folk rock, soul music, psychedelic and the beginning of heavy metal. This was wonderful !!! I knew all the songs. :o)

I Love This Music It Takes You Back When Families Were Always Together And Listen To The Best Music That Was Ever Made Thank You So Much For Taking Me Back To The Oldies But Always Goodies Love It
I love, love love this music....I have a massive wide taste in music of several eras but you just cannot beat this stuff! My teens was spent in the 80s and I loved that but I am envious of all you folk who spent their teenage years listening to this music! Soo talented and amazing harmonies! Just one big wow! ❤
Correction on the track tape is a 8-track and four track that I still have it since 1958 and it still plays like new believe it or not I think I'll be Nowitzki so much for what he does might not pronounce his name right but he's polish so that's where we at thank you so much for keeping the doo-wop on my cell phone
When it comes to music, our generation was the best. This is memory lane.
You got that right.
Preach my brother. Call me an old soul. True talent.
The BEST damn music ever! That's WHY people are still listening to it for more than 50 year plus. The singers will pass away BUT not their music.!
