Got the 990b a few weeks ago. No dropouts as far as I could tell. And the TV/movie performance is awesome. Music performance is OK but would still say book shelf or tower speakers would be better for music.
@@archwaytech I prefer the 990B. The JBL has tighter and deeper bass, but the 990B holds its own and has a better overall performance and balance. JBL has weak vocals and is not as dynamic with mids and highs. JBL offers the unmatched versatility with detachable speakers though. Both are great.
I got the q990b with 65in s95b, and have a smaller room…this thing is so much fun. Mostly game on it and its very impressive. Even the side firing speakers work with series x as it has atmos. And no issues with connection.

I've had the 990 for 2 months in my 10'x12.5' living room. Rears are 8' from bar and 5'ft from listening position about 1' behind my ear level. Zero dropouts. Sounds amazing and I hear sounds in familiar movies I haven't heard before. I set the rear level at -3 as well as the sub. I have a soon to be 3 year old Hisense with just Arc but recently added a Firestick Max 4k as it's Wifi 6 capable. Full Dolby Atmos and Vision and in addition the Firestick and Hisense remote both operate the 990 and surprisingly the Hisense remotes even operates the Firestick with the exception of the Home key which will bring me to the Hisense homescreen. I highly recommend the 990, best sound I've had in my living room.
Anyone looking at buying the Q930b it's very hit/miss as far as subwoofer volume output depending on content. Movies it's great, but if streaming Internet music is your thing, look elsewhere.
I have been following your channel and it has been immense support!! Thank you! I do need a bit of suggestion though. I currently have Q800b 8k and Q990b Soundbar system and Apple TV 4K. I do get a lot of problem of sound disappearing suddenly and it happens literally every 2nd day.. after few times switching the source on sound bar, switching the tv audio output to (tv,bar, bar+ tv) different options and few restarts it picks the sound back up but it happens fairly regularly. Also from yesterday I have noticed sound bar system has started out of sync with tv specially in Q symphony mode. Do you reckon it’s a faulty Tv, Soundbar or both? I have tried all sort of changing of settings, resetting but nothing seems to help :(
I recently picked up the Q990B and I absolutely love it. Zero issues with Dropouts. I'm in an apartment and have a decent sized living room. I've tweaked the settings through the smart things app. I also have a Samsung Q60b 65" TV that pairs with the Qsymphony feature and it sounds fantastic.
Just receved 990b the sound is so loud and i love it but i set it at 20 volume beyond that its too loud.and i was thinking if i shoud have bought 930b, does the sound of the 990b is better than 930b?or it just the same sound but the 990 is just louder?
I have the 930B, first one had all kinds of weird issues and got a free replacement. This one has been perfect, with no drops at all. Sounds is honestly brilliant, not sure how much better the 990B would really get on a day-to-day.

Q930B here - after two weeks of ownership I've had no drop-outs whatsoever. Brilliant soundbar for the money and after the £300 cashback via redemption makes this an absolute bargain. I haven't managed to get the volume above 18 so far as it's so loud, even in my fairly large living room. Love it.

I’ve had the 930B for 2 weeks now and love the overall performance from it . The only problem I’m facing is connectivity issues while using airplay from my iphone and macbook . Need to restart my wifi router every time to get it work with airplay . Currently update latest software update too . Anyone facing this same issue ?
i just bought the q930b from best buy for 719.00 plus tax(open box in excellent condition). im very impressed with the sound but i have a chance to buy the q990b new for 979.00 plus tax. its paired with a 77 inch lg c2. which one do you think is a better value at these prices? I use the sound bar for tv shows/movies.
I currently have the Q930b but really disappointed with a number of things. Lip sync is out on most sources and the slider in the Smart things app doesn’t allow for audio to be sped up, only delayed. Using with LG C9. Also, loads of drop outs using Airplay. Finally, rear speakers are fairly minimal in Atmos impact even when adjusted using channel feature. Swapping for a Sonos Arc and Sub Gen 3. I don't agree with any of the statements.I don't have any such problem.Maybe you're using it wrong.I have been using Q930B it for a 3 week.I'm not saying anything bad. It is a very, very good soundbar.I watched the movie "Prey" ( dolby atmos ).Just great.You'll feel like you're in a movie theater. You will feel the power of this woofer and the vibrations created by the bass.I strongly recommend.But if you have more money you can always buy Q990B. I know that he is a little better, but the difference is very small.I use him with the Sony TV X950H and everything works.

@@jamesg8246 I using a q930b with a TV (Panasonic DX902B) that only has ARC, I use digital optical out connection between soundbar and TV and I don't have any sync issues.
@@jimbrown9542 That's one way to try to mitigate it. It's obviously not ideal because you can't output all the formats the bar supports over optical though. It's a compromise. Best results are eARC to eARC.
I’m glad you did this video! I’ve already commented before on previous videos but long story short; I started out with 990B, returned it and returned the second 990b all due to horrible drop out issues. I should note that I have a fairly small room with my router being on the other side of the house. I have very little interference in my TV room. I personally couldn’t keep something with drop out issues due to the fact, I would constantly be thinking about the damn speakers and wondering if the surround speakers were on or not. I needed a Soundbar with DTS support and I have an LG Oled so I went with LG S95QR. I’m very happy with the s95. I do believe the Samsung subwoofer is just better overall which lends to better sound overall. I also think the Samsung room calibration made more of a difference. I don’t use it for music so for music idk which is better.. also, the LG took more tinkering with channel levels to sound best. I sit close to my surrounds so I dropped those down 2 levels and max out overhead with side channel up 3 levels.. I found the surround sound quality or 3d bubble to be just as good as Samsung 990b. The LG works great in my room! I’d much prefer not worrying about speaker drop outs and have in my opinion a slightly lesser quality in sound. It’s not as if the LG is crazy distorted either, I even like the tonality of it. It’s just unfortunately let down by the subwoofer and subsequent crossover. It almost feels as if LG didn’t put enough effort into the fine tuning which is unfortunate… since it clearly has the power.. Anyways I’m happy with the LG, it great for movies and I’ve had no issues pairing it with my LG Oled. Again, for me so many bars lacking DTS was frustrating also..
Will this serve a long rectangular room with a flat ceiling - 60 sq m in which I am trying to get a sound bar for only one end serving about 25 sq m of the room.
I can't play passthrough audio on my movies with a refresh rate of 23.976hz on my TV, wether I am connected through earc or it's hdmi inputs. I tried with a true HD movie with Kodi on a Linux PC. It works with a refresh rate of 30hz and above, but not below, so not at 23.976hz. I am thinking about sending it back.

Does the PS4 Pro (which I currently still own) and the PS5 (tba lol) also support Dolby Atmos? They do with supported bluerays I suppose. And also heard rumours they do now with some streaming services like Disney+ and HBO Max, or only so on PS5? (No Netflix or RUclips I guess yet :( ) You have by any chance some more info about that?
I had a full Arc system with 2 sub gen 3s and 2 Sl ones as surrounds I just changed to the q990b and so,far no drop outs still fiddling with the sound settings but so far I like it more than the Sonos the bass is crazy set on +3 and it rattles my apartment I have a newer Samsung tv and it just works as a pair better than the Sonos it’s just more seamless and q symphony is pretty cool the Samsung supports way more audio formats than the Sonos and the atmos effect is noticeably better I just put my Sonos Sl ones paired with 1 sub in my bedroom and that sounds really good I do think the Sonos sounds better with music than the Samsung but movies are better with the Samsung

I have the Q950A set up with my 2020 SONY 750H (I think is the tv model number?) and only get issues with the volume through the tv display and my 4k player display. My 4k player is a sony as well and it says a certain volume number on the tv and when i check the samsung smart things app, the volume is a completely different number.
Mate…..I’ve tried and tried to get my rear speakers to stop flashing blue. Disconnect everything. Plugged back in. Still flashing. Speakers aren’t that far away from sound bar. Any ideas. Ta.
i got the 930c on sale for like $800 or $900 and looks like the 990 is $1400 on sale. regularly $1800. the price difference is crazy to me for the 2 extra speakers and different sub
I just bought the Q990B in May 2023. I spent hours trying to get all speakers to pair with my new Samsung TV. With the soundbar and the TV plugged into the same power strip, finally I unplugged it all at once. When I plugged the whole thing back in, it synced up immediately. What a relief. Now, I need some stands for those rear speakers. What do you suggest?

Samsung Soundbar HW-Q7CB w/ Dolby Atmos is on sale at Costco. It's 250$ off the original pirce and expires tomorrow (Nov. 20, 2022) we have never bought a sound bar and have no idea if this is a good sound bar or even a good buy. Can you tell me if this has a good sound and does the sub have good bass? We were using comp speakers & subwoofer and that worked great for years. We upgraded our TV and the new TV does not have the proper hookups for our comp speakers & sub.
I was going to buy the Sonos arc with the sub and Los one sl but when I saw Best Buy's offer of $999 for the complete Samsung I didn't think so since the complete Sonos is the same for $2,300 and I'm happy with the Samsung
Went through 2 Q990B units from Amazon, both manufactured Jan 2022. Both had dropouts (sub and both rear speakers) in a smallish room. Some have claimed units made later in the year fixed the problem but cannot confirm. Went with the Q910B and have had no issues, but the sound quality is obviously inferior.
i have the 990 b i enjoy it so far. my issue is the mounting brackets/holes are 18 inches apart. My studs are 16inches apart. Any suggestions other than a mounting block?
Hi if my TV an LG SK8500 only has 4x 2.0 HDMI ARC not eArc it seems. Would I be able to get proper Dolby atmos with this. I've read something about the eArc and pass through. If I wasn't going to be able to get Dolby Atmos then that would be a deal breaker.
I have this SoundBar connected with my Sony Bravia X900 using HDMI ARC Cable. Problem I'm facing is when I increase the Volume using TV Remote, it goes up nicely. But when I'm reducing the volume using the TV Remote, the volume only reduces to 14 or 12 or 5 and holds there. It never goes down all the way down to Zero. When using the Samsung Remote, it does work as expected. Anybody else having the same issue. Please help.
I can get the Q930B (complete set) for $799, but I just ordered the Bose 900 b/c I think the sound is more crisp. I still have to buy the $700 Bose sub. I’m buying a 65” C2 today. Should I just go with the Q930B and send the Bose 900 back and save the money?
Nice overview of the soundbar 👍 I originally bought a Q800b was great but felt I was missing the rest speakers.. tried being SWA9500s to go with them but Samsung was very slow with them so instead I bought a Q930b.. the rear speakers made a real difference with Dolby atmos and really happy with the purchase .. was lucky as on sale at JB for $810AU now it’s back to $1499 Also it’s paired with my TCl C835 and have no issue with control. Sound can be moved up and down by the Tv remote and also haven’t suffered any drop outs Keep up the quality reviews 👏
Thanks Michael 😁 Great to hear your experience. $810AU for the Q930 is a great price! Here in New Zealand it's $1300AU, and that's on special. I'm working on my big soundbar comparison atm and enjoying the process. There's so many great soundbars on the market it can be hard to choose.
I always reccomend to check on google other shop price, JB is amazing on beating other store price, they were selling the C2 77" at 6800Au$, discounted from way over 7000, and they quoted me 5600 with free delivery because another store was selling it for little more...

@@granthartley the c835 is an amazing tv, i am in love with Oled but at one point, even considering the price crazy low, I was considering this tv on top of all samsung or sony… my only problem are the black bars in this tv, if you warch on imax like Disney plus not a problem they are not there, but everything else they are lit, gray… the blacks on this tv are amazing I don’t understand why the gray bars.. but is something that I can’t stop watching and it will annoying me in the long run
Hello. I recently got this soundbar . And its amazing. The sound the bass everything. Got one problem though and need your help. I have a hisense tv with hdmi earc . When i play dolby atmos content on netflix amazon ot plays it flawlessly. Also when i download a file with compressed dolby Atmos format it play it easily. But when i try to play a download file via usb on the tv which has a high bandwidth dolby atmos with true hd. It just wont play any sound. Pls help me with that
your TV doesn't support the audio format it was encoded in from its native media player. Same thing happens on my LG C2 when I play 4K blu ray rips directly on the TV, I'll occasionally only get video with no sound. If I play it from my PC its perfect from VLC media player.
Do I profit from Samsung's synergy if I have an Ultra Short Throw Projector (LSP9T) instead of a TV, as well? There is literally no information if the LSP9T can do Q-Symphony with the Q990b. I also don't know if I can control its volume with the laser TV's remote. And finally - where do I place an atmos soundbar when using a UST projector? mounting it to the wall is not so easy because I live in Germany, so like most houses there I don't have drywall but reinforced ferroconcrete walls. Hiding the cables is virtually impossible unless I violate the walls with a demolition hammer.
Samsung's UST Projectors still give you most of the features from their TV's. It's got an eARC port so connecting a Soundbar will still give you volume control through the Projectors Remote. I setup one at the end of last year for a customer of mine and was surpirsed at how much it ran like their TV's. It definitely requires a darker room than their Qled's but if you've got that, it looks amazing! Soundbar and Projector placement is a difficult one. Placing them on a deep cabinet could work otherwise the projector can be mounted to the ceiling straight above your cabinet. Re the Q-Symphony: I don't think it has that and I wouldn't worry about it too much as the speakers in the projector aren't spaced out wide like they are on the back of their TV's. The Q990B without Q-Symphony still sounds amazing and in my view Q-Symphony isn't required for a great experience.
Hi Josh, great video there! My current Samsung andriod TV (AU7000) does comes with eARC but it can't decode Dolby ATMOS. If I stream ATMOS content through Netflix from the TV above, could Q990B reproduce ATMOS?
Thanks Wai 😄 Unfortunately since your TV won't send through an Atmos signal no Soundbar will be able to play Atmos from it. Your best bet is to get the Q990B and plug in an Atmos capable streaming device such as an Apple TV or Xbox directly into the Soundbars HDMI IN port. I was reading on reddit that the q990b build after, May I believe, are been fixed, they changed the wireless module inside... anyway, I don't have the soundbar yet, I am still on the market becuase of this problem, but one solution that few ppl said was to change the router channel, don't pick one around 150, don't remember the exact numbers, but stay around the 40... if someone has a problem with dropouts can give it a try
So i'm keen on getting 990b for my media room however house has been delayed with rain ( 6months ) would you go ahead and get this if it's on sale Black Friday or wait till next yrs model comes out which may fix things like the drop outs etc : may improve the system even further ?
Hi. My Q990B is about to be delivered but the Fire TV cube has no eArch (just plain HDMI). Can you still get Dolby Atmos using the Fire TV cube as input source, which is connected to the HDMI (not ARC/eARC) of the TV, in which the eARC of the TV is in turn connected to the eARC of the Q990B? if you have eARC in your tv connect it to Q990B eARC port and all your streaming device to tv's other HDMI inputs and you'll get Dolby Atmos. If you don't have eARC just ARC on your TV then connect two of your most used devices Fire TV Cube in your case to Q990B HDMI input 1 or 2 and another HDMI cable from Q990B's eARC port to ARC port on your TV to get Dolby Atmos.
8:30 can someone explain this to me what he mean by this? I have 930b and i only see 1 hdmi/arc port, what does he mean by in/out??? Cuz I'm not sure I'm getting atmos
There's 2 HDMI ports on the Q930B... 1 of them is HDMI ARC (also known as HDMI Out) and 1 HDMI input. The input is for plugging a gaming console, blu player or streaming device and the soundbar will pass through the video signal to the TV. The HDMI ARC (HDMI Out) is for connection to the TV which lets your TV remote control the soundbars volume and turn it on and off. Hope this clears things up.

Thanks for the kind words. I would go Q800A, Q700B and then Q700A in that order. The Q800A is a higher end Soundbar than the other two even tho it’s an older model than the Q700B. I hope this helps.
Hi, Iam still confused about the placement of rear speakers. I have placed them right next to my sofa as there is a wall behind it. Do I need to point the Samsung logo on rear speakers forward facing soundbar or turn towards my ear. Which is the best way to get the optimal rear and Atmos sound ?
Turn towards your ears, ideally aim them so the front drivers point to a spot in front of you. Keep in mind the side drivers, if you point the front drivers directly at your ears the side drivers send more information forward and less to the sides as it reflects of the walls. Try both and see what you like, depends of your listening room as well and how close the side walls are to the rear speakers.
In my opinion, Yes. Maximising the channels a soundbar has is more important than having the most channels. The other thing to note is that soundbars are limited in size and how far away they can space their drivers whereas a traditional home theatre system you can place the speakers futher apart to get better stereo seperation.
@Archway Tech because I have the q900a and I'm finally pulling the trigger on sonos. But it still worries me that sonos is a 5.1 with the rears and I'm losing channels as the one I got is 9.1.4. But I'm waiting to see if sonos comes out with upfiring rears. Gonna get the arc now the sub later and the rears way later
Hey Josh, first of all, congratulations on your channel. 2 weeks ago I bought the Q990b for my samsung Q80b but I can't get Dolby atmos in the information on the bar. The HDMI cable is connected to the eARC port of the TV and in the TV settings the dolby atmos function is activated, however when viewing any content compatible with atmos when giving information to the control of the bar indicates Dolby Digital😤 I don't know why the dolby atmos isn't activated, any solution?
Thanks man 😊 In the sound settings of the TV is "Digital Ouput Audio Format" set to Auto or Passthrough? (Make sure it's not on PCM) Also, what movies are you trying and on which streaming services?
In sound settings "Digital Ouput Audio Format" is in automatic, HDMI mode -eARC automatic, Dolby atmos is activated, in Anynet+ connection it is activated. I watch movies through streaming on the apple TV app on the TV (top gun maveric, jurasic park Dominion etc.)

Great video and great channel. One question, I have the Samsung s95b tv and the q990b bar and I have an audio delay problem on my xbox series x with the dolby atmos settings. I have the xbox series x connected directly to an hdmi 2.1 port of my tv, but I see that when configuring my xbox with dolby atmos audio format and with the maximum resolution 4k 120fps the audio reaches me with a delay. What solution do I have? Greetings and keep it up.
@@archwaytech Only delay in games, movies and any application from xbox, youtube, hbomax, netflix,…..with the dolby atmos audio configuration and 4k 120fps screen resolution. If you set the xbox to 4k 60fps and dolby atmos i have no lag but i lose image quality in games. I also do not have audio delay if I put uncompressed stereo in audio settings, but I also lose audio quality since it is not dolby atmos. I don't know what solution there will be.

Might be simple to answer, but the on the bar, which is the wide speaker and which is the side. I mean to me, side means the ones on the side and the ones at an angle are the wide....but you could also say side is side of the centre and wide is the ones on the ends of the bar as its the widest part.
Have the drop out issue with the Rear left and Sub. Now in repair since Oktober 25. I have it paired with a Philips 55OLED804 and volume control etc via the Philips remote works perfect. No issues.
@@bradleybrock7477 No, it is send out for a 3rd repair attempt in Jan-23 and has not yet returned. After the first and 2nd repair attempt the speakers would not connect anymore at all :(
@@vilhelmstein2091 For watching movies on OTT platforms its awesome. When you watch movies you dont feel like sound is coming from any small speaker sound system. For music its above average (considering the price). All n all I enjoy a lot while watching movies. I loved it as it has wide front stage unlike JBL 9.1
Just got the q930b. While I'm super happy.. (previously owned a Logitech Z906) the bass and rear speakers lack :( otherwhise it's an very nice sounding system overal.

At first I was disappointed.. because of the rear speakers in standard content (still sounded great) but once I opened up Dolby atmos content or played games that support dolby atmos.. HOLY SHIT. I don't know what else to say. It was really really good.. sounds coming from everywhere 😅👌🏻
@@andrescastanom6267 okay 1 downside to the q930b compared to the z906 is definitely the bass.. It's there but not like the z906 level where it literally shakes the whole house 😂
@@SianCKB I use about 30% of the total bass from Z906 because as you say, it is pretty powerful in that aspect. If you can measure it, the Q930b Bass would have at least half the total bass of the other one. Or how would you measure it?
@@andrescastanom6267 hmm, let's say on a scale of 10 (10 is z906) the q930b is around 5/6 on 10 (with good sub placement I rate mine around 7) It's still pretty good but nowhere near the 906 haha

I bought the Q990B a few weeks ago after buying a QN90B tv, I did look at the Q930B but for an extra £200 I would have regretted not going for the better version, really happy with the sound quality in a 15' by 18' room with the tv and sofa opposite ends without any dropouts you speak of. Also it paired up first time when switched on without any input required from myself it was that easy. Sound quality is excellent too. It's actually quite dangerous as it's keeping me in the house living like a hermit 😂
Any chance you can tell me if this TV + speaker combo has a compressor/night mode that makes speech, music, and explosions all the same volume? I'm thinking about getting this sound bar and thats literally all I care about, but I can't find any info about it
I have the 990B, I dont have delay with the app. I have the S10+ phone. My main concern is to find the good ajustement for each speaker and choose the right sound option. I bought this week so I didnt try that much. Im still waiting for the support for the rear speaker. I would say if you have the money, its worth it especially with rabate like this week. I didnt go over 35(level) sound that things shaked a bit XD... I didnt have lost signal for the rear speaker, at least, I didnt notice. Im coming from a LG SL8YG which lose the signal from the subwoofer. Im not impress with Q-Symphony since you have only 2 sound option (adaptive and gaming). Im using the Q80 75 inch (2020) and everythings work well. Anyway, thank for the original review.

Adaptive Sound is the best option in my opinion. The difference between it and surround is a tightening or better focus and position of dialogue whereas surround spreads out the "stage". Adaptive seems to also have a slightly more pronounced high frequency range, more like an upward slope of frequencies from the midrange and up. Try both and see what you like and game setting too.

Got the 990b a few weeks ago. No dropouts as far as I could tell. And the TV/movie performance is awesome. Music performance is OK but would still say book shelf or tower speakers would be better for music.

@@archwaytech I prefer the 990B. The JBL has tighter and deeper bass, but the 990B holds its own and has a better overall performance and balance. JBL has weak vocals and is not as dynamic with mids and highs. JBL offers the unmatched versatility with detachable speakers though. Both are great.
I got the q990b with 65in s95b, and have a smaller room…this thing is so much fun. Mostly game on it and its very impressive. Even the side firing speakers work with series x as it has atmos. And no issues with connection.
do you also have problem hearing the rears? or are my rears way too far away from where I sit? xD

I've had the 990 for 2 months in my 10'x12.5' living room. Rears are 8' from bar and 5'ft from listening position about 1' behind my ear level. Zero dropouts. Sounds amazing and I hear sounds in familiar movies I haven't heard before. I set the rear level at -3 as well as the sub. I have a soon to be 3 year old Hisense with just Arc but recently added a Firestick Max 4k as it's Wifi 6 capable. Full Dolby Atmos and Vision and in addition the Firestick and Hisense remote both operate the 990 and surprisingly the Hisense remotes even operates the Firestick with the exception of the Home key which will bring me to the Hisense homescreen. I highly recommend the 990, best sound I've had in my living room.

Anyone looking at buying the Q930b it's very hit/miss as far as subwoofer volume output depending on content. Movies it's great, but if streaming Internet music is your thing, look elsewhere.

I do need a bit of suggestion though. I currently have Q800b 8k and Q990b Soundbar system and Apple TV 4K. I do get a lot of problem of sound disappearing suddenly and it happens literally every 2nd day.. after few times switching the source on sound bar, switching the tv audio output to (tv,bar, bar+ tv) different options and few restarts it picks the sound back up but it happens fairly regularly. Also from yesterday I have noticed sound bar system has started out of sync with tv specially in Q symphony mode.
Do you reckon it’s a faulty Tv, Soundbar or both? I have tried all sort of changing of settings, resetting but nothing seems to help :(

I recently picked up the Q990B and I absolutely love it. Zero issues with Dropouts. I'm in an apartment and have a decent sized living room. I've tweaked the settings through the smart things app. I also have a Samsung Q60b 65" TV that pairs with the Qsymphony feature and it sounds fantastic.
Just receved 990b the sound is so loud and i love it but i set it at 20 volume beyond that its too loud.and i was thinking if i shoud have bought 930b, does the sound of the 990b is better than 930b?or it just the same sound but the 990 is just louder?

I have the 930B, first one had all kinds of weird issues and got a free replacement. This one has been perfect, with no drops at all. Sounds is honestly brilliant, not sure how much better the 990B would really get on a day-to-day.

Q930B here - after two weeks of ownership I've had no drop-outs whatsoever. Brilliant soundbar for the money and after the £300 cashback via redemption makes this an absolute bargain. I haven't managed to get the volume above 18 so far as it's so loud, even in my fairly large living room. Love it.

I’ve had the 930B for 2 weeks now and love the overall performance from it . The only problem I’m facing is connectivity issues while using airplay from my iphone and macbook . Need to restart my wifi router every time to get it work with airplay . Currently update latest software update too . Anyone facing this same issue ?

i just bought the q930b from best buy for 719.00 plus tax(open box in excellent condition). im very impressed with the sound but i have a chance to buy the q990b new for 979.00 plus tax. its paired with a 77 inch lg c2. which one do you think is a better value at these prices? I use the sound bar for tv shows/movies.
I currently have the Q930b but really disappointed with a number of things. Lip sync is out on most sources and the slider in the Smart things app doesn’t allow for audio to be sped up, only delayed. Using with LG C9.
Also, loads of drop outs using Airplay. Finally, rear speakers are fairly minimal in Atmos impact even when adjusted using channel feature.
Swapping for a Sonos Arc and Sub Gen 3.

I don't agree with any of the statements.I don't have any such problem.Maybe you're using it wrong.I have been using Q930B it for a 3 week.I'm not saying anything bad. It is a very, very good soundbar.I watched the movie "Prey" ( dolby atmos ).Just great.You'll feel like you're in a movie theater. You will feel the power of this woofer and the vibrations created by the bass.I strongly recommend.But if you have more money you can always buy Q990B. I know that he is a little better, but the difference is very small.I use him with the Sony TV X950H and everything works.

The C9 doesn't support eARC that's why , the issue is with using a new sound bar with an old TV. Works flawlessly with our C1 using eARC.
@@jamesg8246 I using a q930b with a TV (Panasonic DX902B) that only has ARC, I use digital optical out connection between soundbar and TV and I don't have any sync issues.
@@jimbrown9542 That's one way to try to mitigate it. It's obviously not ideal because you can't output all the formats the bar supports over optical though. It's a compromise. Best results are eARC to eARC.
I’m glad you did this video! I’ve already commented before on previous videos but long story short; I started out with 990B, returned it and returned the second 990b all due to horrible drop out issues.
I should note that I have a fairly small room with my router being on the other side of the house. I have very little interference in my TV room. I personally couldn’t keep something with drop out issues due to the fact, I would constantly be thinking about the damn speakers and wondering if the surround speakers were on or not.
I needed a Soundbar with DTS support and I have an LG Oled so I went with LG S95QR. I’m very happy with the s95. I do believe the Samsung subwoofer is just better overall which lends to better sound overall. I also think the Samsung room calibration made more of a difference. I don’t use it for music so for music idk which is better.. also, the LG took more tinkering with channel levels to sound best. I sit close to my surrounds so I dropped those down 2 levels and max out overhead with side channel up 3 levels.. I found the surround sound quality or 3d bubble to be just as good as Samsung 990b. The LG works great in my room! I’d much prefer not worrying about speaker drop outs and have in my opinion a slightly lesser quality in sound. It’s not as if the LG is crazy distorted either, I even like the tonality of it. It’s just unfortunately let down by the subwoofer and subsequent crossover. It almost feels as if LG didn’t put enough effort into the fine tuning which is unfortunate… since it clearly has the power..
Anyways I’m happy with the LG, it great for movies and I’ve had no issues pairing it with my LG Oled. Again, for me so many bars lacking DTS was frustrating also..

Yeah it’ll work great. I’ve been enjoying mine in a roughly 100m2 Woolshed with high ceilings and it sounded awesome.
Subwoofer is terrible on the newer samsung bars. Barely hits like a subwoofer should.
Do you recommend the subwoofer touching the furniture, or a couple millimeters away from it as shown in this video?
I always give a subwoofer a bit of distance from other furniture so it doesn’t rattle whatever it’s touching. It only needs a few millimeters.
I can't play passthrough audio on my movies with a refresh rate of 23.976hz on my TV, wether I am connected through earc or it's hdmi inputs.
I tried with a true HD movie with Kodi on a Linux PC.
It works with a refresh rate of 30hz and above, but not below, so not at 23.976hz.
I am thinking about sending it back.

I had a full Arc system with 2 sub gen 3s and 2 Sl ones as surrounds I just changed to the q990b and so,far no drop outs still fiddling with the sound settings but so far I like it more than the Sonos the bass is crazy set on +3 and it rattles my apartment I have a newer Samsung tv and it just works as a pair better than the Sonos it’s just more seamless and q symphony is pretty cool the Samsung supports way more audio formats than the Sonos and the atmos effect is noticeably better I just put my Sonos Sl ones paired with 1 sub in my bedroom and that sounds really good I do think the Sonos sounds better with music than the Samsung but movies are better with the Samsung

I have the Q950A set up with my 2020 SONY 750H (I think is the tv model number?) and only get issues with the volume through the tv display and my 4k player display. My 4k player is a sony as well and it says a certain volume number on the tv and when i check the samsung smart things app, the volume is a completely different number.

I just bought the Q990B in May 2023. I spent hours trying to get all speakers to pair with my new Samsung TV. With the soundbar and the TV plugged into the same power strip, finally I unplugged it all at once. When I plugged the whole thing back in, it synced up immediately. What a relief. Now, I need some stands for those rear speakers. What do you suggest?

It's 250$ off the original pirce and expires tomorrow (Nov. 20, 2022) we have never bought a sound bar and have no idea if this is a good sound bar or even a good buy. We were using comp speakers & subwoofer and that worked great for years. We upgraded our TV and the new TV does not have the proper hookups for our comp speakers & sub.
I was going to buy the Sonos arc with the sub and Los one sl but when I saw Best Buy's offer of $999 for the complete Samsung I didn't think so since the complete Sonos is the same for $2,300 and I'm happy with the Samsung

Went through 2 Q990B units from Amazon, both manufactured Jan 2022. Both had dropouts (sub and both rear speakers) in a smallish room. Some have claimed units made later in the year fixed the problem but cannot confirm. Went with the Q910B and have had no issues, but the sound quality is obviously inferior.

Hi if my TV an LG SK8500 only has 4x 2.0 HDMI ARC not eArc it seems. Would I be able to get proper Dolby atmos with this. I've read something about the eArc and pass through. If I wasn't going to be able to get Dolby Atmos then that would be a deal breaker.

I have this SoundBar connected with my Sony Bravia X900 using HDMI ARC Cable. Problem I'm facing is when I increase the Volume using TV Remote, it goes up nicely. But when I'm reducing the volume using the TV Remote, the volume only reduces to 14 or 12 or 5 and holds there. It never goes down all the way down to Zero. When using the Samsung Remote, it does work as expected. Anybody else having the same issue. Please help.

I originally bought a Q800b was great but felt I was missing the rest speakers.. tried being SWA9500s to go with them but Samsung was very slow with them so instead I bought a Q930b.. the rear speakers made a real difference with Dolby atmos and really happy with the purchase .. was lucky as on sale at JB for $810AU now it’s back to $1499
Also it’s paired with my TCl C835 and have no issue with control. Sound can be moved up and down by the Tv remote and also haven’t suffered any drop outs

I always reccomend to check on google other shop price, JB is amazing on beating other store price, they were selling the C2 77" at 6800Au$, discounted from way over 7000, and they quoted me 5600 with free delivery because another store was selling it for little more...

@@granthartley the c835 is an amazing tv, i am in love with Oled but at one point, even considering the price crazy low, I was considering this tv on top of all samsung or sony… my only problem are the black bars in this tv, if you warch on imax like Disney plus not a problem they are not there, but everything else they are lit, gray… the blacks on this tv are amazing I don’t understand why the gray bars.. but is something that I can’t stop watching and it will annoying me in the long run

Hello. I recently got this soundbar . And its amazing. The sound the bass everything. Got one problem though and need your help. I have a hisense tv with hdmi earc . When i play dolby atmos content on netflix amazon ot plays it flawlessly. Also when i download a file with compressed dolby Atmos format it play it easily. But when i try to play a download file via usb on the tv which has a high bandwidth dolby atmos with true hd. It just wont play any sound. Pls help me with that
your TV doesn't support the audio format it was encoded in from its native media player. Same thing happens on my LG C2 when I play 4K blu ray rips directly on the TV, I'll occasionally only get video with no sound. If I play it from my PC its perfect from VLC media player.
Do I profit from Samsung's synergy if I have an Ultra Short Throw Projector (LSP9T) instead of a TV, as well? There is literally no information if the LSP9T can do Q-Symphony with the Q990b. I also don't know if I can control its volume with the laser TV's remote. And finally - where do I place an atmos soundbar when using a UST projector? mounting it to the wall is not so easy because I live in Germany, so like most houses there I don't have drywall but reinforced ferroconcrete walls. Hiding the cables is virtually impossible unless I violate the walls with a demolition hammer.
Samsung's UST Projectors still give you most of the features from their TV's. It's got an eARC port so connecting a Soundbar will still give you volume control through the Projectors Remote. I setup one at the end of last year for a customer of mine and was surpirsed at how much it ran like their TV's. It definitely requires a darker room than their Qled's but if you've got that, it looks amazing! Soundbar and Projector placement is a difficult one. Placing them on a deep cabinet could work otherwise the projector can be mounted to the ceiling straight above your cabinet. Re the Q-Symphony: I don't think it has that and I wouldn't worry about it too much as the speakers in the projector aren't spaced out wide like they are on the back of their TV's. The Q990B without Q-Symphony still sounds amazing and in my view Q-Symphony isn't required for a great experience.

Hi Josh, great video there! My current Samsung andriod TV (AU7000) does comes with eARC but it can't decode Dolby ATMOS. If I stream ATMOS content through Netflix from the TV above, could Q990B reproduce ATMOS?
Thanks Wai 😄 Unfortunately since your TV won't send through an Atmos signal no Soundbar will be able to play Atmos from it. Your best bet is to get the Q990B and plug in an Atmos capable streaming device such as an Apple TV or Xbox directly into the Soundbars HDMI IN port. I was reading on reddit that the q990b build after, May I believe, are been fixed, they changed the wireless module inside... anyway, I don't have the soundbar yet, I am still on the market becuase of this problem, but one solution that few ppl said was to change the router channel, don't pick one around 150, don't remember the exact numbers, but stay around the 40... if someone has a problem with dropouts can give it a try

Hi. My Q990B is about to be delivered but the Fire TV cube has no eArch (just plain HDMI). Can you still get Dolby Atmos using the Fire TV cube as input source, which is connected to the HDMI (not ARC/eARC) of the TV, in which the eARC of the TV is in turn connected to the eARC of the Q990B? if you have eARC in your tv connect it to Q990B eARC port and all your streaming device to tv's other HDMI inputs and you'll get Dolby Atmos. If you don't have eARC just ARC on your TV then connect two of your most used devices Fire TV Cube in your case to Q990B HDMI input 1 or 2 and another HDMI cable from Q990B's eARC port to ARC port on your TV to get Dolby Atmos.
8:30 can someone explain this to me what he mean by this? I have 930b and i only see 1 hdmi/arc port, what does he mean by in/out??? Cuz I'm not sure I'm getting atmos
There's 2 HDMI ports on the Q930B... 1 of them is HDMI ARC (also known as HDMI Out) and 1 HDMI input. The input is for plugging a gaming console, blu player or streaming device and the soundbar will pass through the video signal to the TV. The HDMI ARC (HDMI Out) is for connection to the TV which lets your TV remote control the soundbars volume and turn it on and off. Hope this clears things up.

Thanks for the kind words. I would go Q800A, Q700B and then Q700A in that order. The Q800A is a higher end Soundbar than the other two even tho it’s an older model than the Q700B. I hope this helps.

Iam still confused about the placement of rear speakers. I have placed them right next to my sofa as there is a wall behind it. Do I need to point the Samsung logo on rear speakers forward facing soundbar or turn towards my ear. Which is the best way to get the optimal rear and Atmos sound ?
Turn towards your ears, ideally aim them so the front drivers point to a spot in front of you. Keep in mind the side drivers, if you point the front drivers directly at your ears the side drivers send more information forward and less to the sides as it reflects of the walls. Try both and see what you like, depends of your listening room as well and how close the side walls are to the rear speakers.

In my opinion, Yes. Maximising the channels a soundbar has is more important than having the most channels. The other thing to note is that soundbars are limited in size and how far away they can space their drivers whereas a traditional home theatre system you can place the speakers futher apart to get better stereo seperation.
@Archway Tech because I have the q900a and I'm finally pulling the trigger on sonos. But it still worries me that sonos is a 5.1 with the rears and I'm losing channels as the one I got is 9.1.4. But I'm waiting to see if sonos comes out with upfiring rears. Gonna get the arc now the sub later and the rears way later
Hey Josh, first of all, congratulations on your channel. 2 weeks ago I bought the Q990b for my samsung Q80b but I can't get Dolby atmos in the information on the bar.
The HDMI cable is connected to the eARC port of the TV and in the TV settings the dolby atmos function is activated, however when viewing any content compatible with atmos when giving information to the control of the bar indicates Dolby Digital😤
I don't know why the dolby atmos isn't activated, any solution?
Indicate that the multimedia content in atmos was viewed from Apple TV in the TV app and not through physical Apple TV (box)

In sound settings "Digital Ouput Audio Format" is in automatic, HDMI mode -eARC automatic, Dolby atmos is activated, in Anynet+ connection it is activated. I watch movies through streaming on the apple TV app on the TV (top gun maveric, jurasic park Dominion etc.)
I have 2 Q80b ( 2022) TVs, one 65" and one 75" and the same thing happens to me in both.

Great video and great channel. One question, I have the Samsung s95b tv and the q990b bar and I have an audio delay problem on my xbox series x with the dolby atmos settings. I have the xbox series x connected directly to an hdmi 2.1 port of my tv, but I see that when configuring my xbox with dolby atmos audio format and with the maximum resolution 4k 120fps the audio reaches me with a delay. What solution do I have? Greetings and keep it up.

@@archwaytech Only delay in games, movies and any application from xbox, youtube, hbomax, netflix,…..with the dolby atmos audio configuration and 4k 120fps screen resolution. If you set the xbox to 4k 60fps and dolby atmos i have no lag but i lose image quality in games. I also do not have audio delay if I put uncompressed stereo in audio settings, but I also lose audio quality since it is not dolby atmos. I don't know what solution there will be.

Might be simple to answer, but the on the bar, which is the wide speaker and which is the side.
I mean to me, side means the ones on the side and the ones at an angle are the wide....but you could also say side is side of the centre and wide is the ones on the ends of the bar as its the widest part.

Have the drop out issue with the Rear left and Sub. Now in repair since Oktober 25. I have it paired with a Philips 55OLED804 and volume control etc via the Philips remote works perfect. No issues.
I sent mine to get repaired as well today because of the dropouts.. Did you ever get yours fixed without any issues?
@@bradleybrock7477 No, it is send out for a 3rd repair attempt in Jan-23 and has not yet returned. After the first and 2nd repair attempt the speakers would not connect anymore at all :(

@@vilhelmstein2091 For watching movies on OTT platforms its awesome. When you watch movies you dont feel like sound is coming from any small speaker sound system. For music its above average (considering the price). All n all I enjoy a lot while watching movies. I loved it as it has wide front stage unlike JBL 9.1

Just got the q930b. While I'm super happy.. (previously owned a Logitech Z906) the bass and rear speakers lack :( otherwhise it's an very nice sounding system overal.

At first I was disappointed.. because of the rear speakers in standard content (still sounded great) but once I opened up Dolby atmos content or played games that support dolby atmos.. HOLY SHIT. @@SianCKB I use about 30% of the total bass from Z906 because as you say, it is pretty powerful in that aspect. If you can measure it, the Q930b Bass would have at least half the total bass of the other one. Or how would you measure it?

I bought the Q990B a few weeks ago after buying a QN90B tv, I did look at the Q930B but for an extra £200 I would have regretted not going for the better version, really happy with the sound quality in a 15' by 18' room with the tv and sofa opposite ends without any dropouts you speak of. Also it paired up first time when switched on without any input required from myself it was that easy. Sound quality is excellent too. It's actually quite dangerous as it's keeping me in the house living like a hermit 😂
Any chance you can tell me if this TV + speaker combo has a compressor/night mode that makes speech, music, and explosions all the same volume?

I have the 990B, I dont have delay with the app. I have the S10+ phone. My main concern is to find the good ajustement for each speaker and choose the right sound option. I bought this week so I didnt try that much. Im still waiting for the support for the rear speaker. I would say if you have the money, its worth it especially with rabate like this week. I didnt go over 35(level) sound that things shaked a bit XD... I didnt have lost signal for the rear speaker, at least, I didnt notice. Im coming from a LG SL8YG which lose the signal from the subwoofer. Im not impress with Q-Symphony since you have only 2 sound option (adaptive and gaming). Im using the Q80 75 inch (2020) and everythings work well. Anyway, thank for the original review.

Adaptive Sound is the best option in my opinion. The difference between it and surround is a tightening or better focus and position of dialogue whereas surround spreads out the "stage". Adaptive seems to also have a slightly more pronounced high frequency range, more like an upward slope of frequencies from the midrange and up. Try both and see what you like and game setting too.
