Because of the price, I thought the Sonos Arc was the best out there and I was considering getting the 990C to have a decent system that could make me imagine how the Sonos would sound like, now I see the 990C could actually be better in many situations 😅. Thanks for the review, now I am sure of my purchase
I love this channel for its detailed and honest reviews sprinkled with humor. Very underrated, you should have more subscribers with these quality contents. Keep up the good work man and can't wait to see your next soundbar review!
Why you only have 18.2k subs is beyond me, you are truly one of the best explanatorial channels on youtube ... please share eveyone .... just wonderful and awesome editorial and creative editing 🙂
In India you can get Samsung Q990D for Rs. 80000 (952 $) @ 1$= 84 Rs exchange rate. And you can get the SONOS Ultimate Immersive Set (With Arc Bar, 2 Era 300 and gen 3 Subwoofer) for Rs. 303000 (3607$) making the price ratio = 1 : 3.78. SONOS in India doesn't even make sense cost wise... Unless you are swimming in Money, SONOS is a bad deal in India. I will choose Samsung Q990D anyday over Sonos and may even buy an extra Q990D for my Gaming room and Still save a ton.
No DTS-HD & DTS-X is the biggest dealbreaker for me. DTS is a superior format to Dolby, Sonos claims to be a premium brand and then don’t give you the premium sound format. If you care about physical media, you shouldn’t fall for Sonos.
I agree that lack of DTS support is important for me, because I use Blu-rays, which tend to have DTS soundtracks. However, when I compare between DTS and Dolby tracks, overall I don’t notice much difference. What difference(s) do you notice? The only significant difference I find is that DTS track are noticeably softer than Dolby one, so I just turn up the volume.
@@inigogc Sonos outputs free version of DTS which will sound maybe softer than Dolby TrueHD. But if you do apples to apples comparison, then you truly know how DTS sounds. I find DTS to be more base heavy and more theatrical as compared to Dolby 5.1
@@amanbat1151 I am not referring to Sonos devices. I don’t use their products for the same reason of lacking full DTS support (and a couple others). I do not, however, agree that DTS tracks are better than Dolby ones. - Lossless DTS and Lossless Dolby SHOULD come out exactly the same, since they are supposed to decompress to exactly the same original audio. - Lossy DTS and Lossy Dolby seem roughly the same to me. Sometimes there is strong bass and sometimes there is weak bass. It varies from show to show, with no objective or certain winner to me. DTS and Dolby tracks can both have strong or weak bass. The format doesn’t dictate that. Some shows in DTS-HD MA have really strong bass (Black Sails, for instance), while some Dolby TrueHD shows have the same too (Game of Thrones, for instance). The stuff that have weak bass in Dolby (Pirates of the Caribbean, for instance), come out that way NOT because the Dolby audio format has weaker bass than DTS. It’s just because of the audio created in audio mixing. Additionally, Avengers Endgame (which IS in DTS-HD MA in the Blu-ray) has weak bass too, just like Pirates of the Caribbean. If you also have test files, in both formats, then you realise that there isn’t significant difference in either format. It comes down to the creator of the mix and what they did to it. What kind of system do you have to come to this judgement? Not all systems treat DTS and Dolby the same way. Sometimes, different additional processing may be the culprit for differences in output audio, NOT the selected audio track.
After watching so many audio tech videos, some of which were underwhelming, it's difficult to believe how a relatively new channel has posted such a comprehensive, and non-tiring, vid on audio tech. Extremely detailed, to the point, yet with sprinkles of humor. Keep it up buddy!
I already bought my q990b thanks to your reviews but I continue to watch this channel just for the takes. Making a video comparing these two provides the most value to buyers IMO
Message did reach me in great spirits. Just bought q990d for $1,259.00 from Samsung EDU store . FWIW, the q990c was $700.00 flat. This video convinced me to spend the incremental. Thank you.🎉
I have Sonos Arc + 2 Era 300 and (dual) Sub paired with Samsung S90C and PS5 & Apple TV 4K. Should I ditch Sonos for the Q990C/D and take advantage of Q-Symphony and integration with Samsung S90C? I mainly used it for Atmos movies and 3D audio games. Thank you
I own Sonos Arc and very happy with the sound even after paying the high price tag, I returned HT-A7000 as its sound was not as per my likings even though I have a Sony OLED 77".
I started with a Nakamichi 7.2.4 on my LG OLED 77C1 and wasn't happy with the sound. Spent too much time messing the the Nakamichi remote adjusting the sound with stereo, 5.1, and Atmos content. My Beam, Gen 3 sub, and Symfonisk rears sound much better in spare room and needed zero adjustments after Trueplay. Dumped the Nakamichi and added the Arc, dual Gen 3 subs, and Fives and have been extremely happy (purchased the Fives before the Era 300s were announced).
Now that being said, I bought the Samsung C for just less than $900 on eBay and it sounds phenomenal! I could never have afforded the Sonos so it was never in my bracket to begin with. And I used your review and others of the Sam B to make the choice about the C. Especially since I was able to get it for so inexpensive. It has a couple of cosmetic issues but I didn't buy it cuz of the way it looks. I know that that's one of your categories but it matters little to me! And as far as the fight versus Sonos and it's whole house sound with the Sam which I use the key between 15 and 25 I know can crank it up to 40 and listen to it anywhere I want to! And if I really want to scare the neighbors I can crank it up to 80 or 90!
Samsungs Q990C and Q990B soundbars are the best out there in terms of price/performance if you get them on a deal. You can get them for less than half of the price of anything that even comes close to competing. And well, if you really want the best of the best and are willing to spend over $2000 on a soundbar... might as well go the extra mile and get a Nakamichi Dragon for nearly $4000.
@@hackztor The Sonos is worse than the Samsung... I've seen and read quite a few comparisons. The result is pretty clear. Some soundbars have a minor advantage above the Samsung in 1 or a few areas, but other than the Nakamichi Dragon no other soundbars are as good as the Q990B and C in terms of overal experience. And for movies it's not even a contest, the Q990B and C beat out every other soundbar that isn't the Dragon.
First of all thank a lot for the great work done in preparing these detailed reviews and comparisons. I wonder if in relation to the good analysis done on the Sony HT-A9 system, you will ever find the time to compare it with the Sonos kit that includes surround with the Era 300. in any case thanks thanks again.
That was a great throwdown review... thank you. I have the Samsung Q800C soundbar and added the 9200S rear speakers for surround sound so your video was clearly outside my weight class but I very much enjoyed it nonetheless. Very nice work.
They don't need a new bar, they just need to let us use the era300 as front channels. So instead of the Arc with two era 300s we use four era300s and the sub
I added my Sonos ones with the Arc side to side, with my 300 s and sub makes my forward sound 10 times better, I know it’s not the sound bar but it’s an improvement, great video 👍
I currently have the HT-A9 with SW5. Really like this review of these units as I'm kinda looking around for maybe a change. What I don't understand with these companies is why they can't come out with the ultimate solution? That would be a slim center channel unit (2.5 inches max height) that would contain center channel and all the electronics necessary for wireless, processing, etc.. I don't even care if it only has one eARC port. There would then be four speakers that are spread out that contain necessary drivers and upfiring atomos drivers included. Sort of like the imaginary Sonos ARC with four ERA 300s that you rigged. Of course it would be much simpler and cost a hell of lot less! Gerry
Absolute great video, but for all this complications, terms & especially ridiculous price($2,500 sonos) a 7.1 home theater will actual 7 speakers seems easier 😂. Your channel is super thorough & very funny thats why i watch.
I disagree, these sound bars are so simplistic in a great way. Do you like fiddling with your gear or watching movies easily? The SB lets you get great sound, with great bass so easily and that can’t be understated. I own Kef towers and receiver with a 5.1.2 system and it does sound better in the mids but the Q990c is so darn fun to listen to, if I didn’t know it could sound a little better the Q990c would be easily the way to go. For the price is a steal.
lovely. Sonos to me wins for the ecosystem. I love its expandable nature and knowing i can retire pieces to other rooms as they roll out new modular pieces… chefs kiss. I will put my one SLs in two rooms and add 300s
Great video. I bought both the arc and Q990C and preferred the consistency on the arc for things like regular satellite tv and stereo content. The Q990C was great with Atmos, but as a house we all preferred the Arc
This was my experience as well. I initially bought the Sonos setup, then returned it for the Samsung. The Samsung blows the Sonos out of the water with Atmos movies, especially blue ray disc. And dialogue is much more clear. But everything else, regular tv watching, music etc, the Sonos is much better. The Sonos to me has more of a HI-Fi sound from the speakers. But in my case this is a basement setup on an 85” and we do watch movies with the volume cranked up
I bought 300s for my rears based on your last video about them and WOW, the difference between the One SL's and the 300s is night and day. Definitely recommend.
This video review really makes me want to wait until next year to buy anything. The small sub on the Samsung and the weaker Arc sound bar makes it seem like there's a compromise when choosing either one of these sets. For $1500 or more, I'm not sure I'm willing to do that.
Because of the sound signature , I chose the Sonos Arc . I spent mouths comparing audio quality ( which is more important to me) for me ,Sonos has the best sound among the several other brands.
You make the best reviews period. I watch all the RUclipsrs please keep the good work!!! Show your wife you can get millions of subs without taking your shirt off
Samsung is cheap with the licensing fees, however, Samsung does discount their products as the year progresses. Sony has very little price decreases and LG doesn’t have much more. It’s amazing that you can buy a Samsung S90C 65” QD OLED for less than a LG C3 or Sony A80L. That makes zero sense.
Just bought q990d for $1,259.00 from Samsung EDU store . FWIW, the q990c was $700.00 flat. This video convinced me to spend the incremental. Thank you.🎉
@@tuolumne9 I picked up the q990c for $760 from samsung EDU. It's one heck of a deal. Why didn't u grab the 990c for $700? Instead of the 990D for $1259?
samsung has 0 fiability. Many poeple complain about issues just after the end of the warranty. Sonos is more expensive, but it's work like a swiss watch after many years of uses.
Great review - thank you for that 🙂 I get the Sonos system with all its benefits, BUT, and it's a big but, in Denmark the Sonos cost 19.006 dkr and the Samsung 7.750 dkr. That is a massive difference, and I can't see how Sonos can justify that 🤔
I watched your previous B video, bought the C, Sono's price for this package is ridiculous it costs as much as 3 sets of the C in retail in Malaysia, and I have lots of blu-ray with DTS, so Sammy wins
That's all I'm saying. I don't even do soundbars anymore(my last was Nakamichi 2019 system). Sonos gonna be smoking crack for $2500 more like $2900 with insurance & shipping
@@o.c.g.m9426 Sono's arc has this issue that seems to be affecting atoms playback that the company failed to fix and no RUclipsr wana talk about, so my decision was sound to skip the Sonos and get the Samsung, i tried the sony a, but it kept crashing due to high interference
Great review. A shame you did not test this with a modern Samsung Q-Symfonie TV. Sonos is now even less interesting since Q-Symfonie gives a far better sound experience with voices coming from the actual mouths of the people you are watching. Sonos will never be able to do this if they dont get a dedicated Sonos TV or partner and its speakers to integrate with it. That sound experience is mind blowingly good to me. It really takes things up a whole level. The sound quality on tv’s especially top of the line versions has massively improved to the point that they should be part of any complete high level cinema experience.
I bought the Q950T but after two years of use I encountered a problem where the sound would automatically increase to an unbearable volume level, after googling the issue I found out that this is a problem that has always occurred with Samsung's soundbar products and that they have not made any changes to their design to improve the problem, a warning to all who want to buy Samsung's soundbars to be prepared for this, not every product has a problem with this! , but you may be one of them!
Hi, first of all congratulations for the video, very clear and forceful. I have a 77" Samsung Oled S90C and I'm looking for the best option. I am currently considering buying the Samsung Q990C, versus buying a 1 Sonos ARC + 1 Sub + 4 ERA 300. But the price difference in my country is 600€ versus about 3.000€. Do you think I will notice the difference in the Sonos or better to go for the safe value of Samsung? Also, I could take advantage of the TV speakers. Thanks in advance
Ok, because Sonos may make big changes in the future - including updating a soundbar … maybe officially enabling 4 300s … (too up in the air) … and the price … I would just get the C and determine if you think it works for you. I would hold off on Sonos products at least until the new SB is announced and maybe other capabilities
I trust you more than AR. AR sounds like a salesman trying to convince you to buy just about everything. Meanwhile you are helping us make an informed decision with your pure, unfiltered reviews. Thanks so much!
I laughed out loud when you got to the part where you said you had two Arcs because I also have two (one in bedroom and one in living room). I’m researching a replacement for a 10 year old AVR system in my basement and if pressed to pull the trigger today id go with the Sony A9s. Based on reviews from you, Andrew Robinson, Digital Trends, and many others they will provide the immersive souls I’m craving. But like you, I’m really hoping Sonos will legalize the system you proposed with a bunch of Era 300s so I’m waiting to see what they do in 2024. Thanks for the great info!
Just bought q990C because of this review. I never watch videos more than 20 minutes but this review made me stay till the end. Entertaining and mind blowing!
I gave up on all the brands siundbars and finally got the arc and sub when they got discounted last year and I'm happy as hell. Best sounding sub. Now I'll just wait 5 years when they discount the era 300
For the price of sonos bar alone i can pick samsung full set here in India, I'd say nobody can beat samsung in terms of bang for buck Also loving my q990b for movies over a9 at my friends house
I got 990 c after watching your video and this is best soundbar system i can get with this price. Yes you was right about plugging stream devices to hdmi 1 or 2 to get dolby atmos if your tv does not have eArc. I am using google chromocast with my old tv but it did not give me performance from soundbar because chromocast was connected to TV. After watching your video and searching on internet, i have connected chromocast to soundbar and it changed the game.
Well that was confusing. & frustrating....but with all your listening..comparing..grouping components...editing...when do you get the chance to watch a movie all the way thru on one set of speakers 😮😮😮
I agree the Arc is the weak link in the Sonos. Currently I have the Arc with 300s and 2 Subs (built over time, not all at once). The Arc is still a fantastic bar, but still leaves me wanting more. Hopefully an Arc 2 can improve the front soundstage and I can move my Arc to another room. Good video!
I’m kind of hoping for not an Arc 2 but something completely different … I don’t think a version update is going to be all that satisfying … appreciate the comment!
@@Scruffy04Sonos does not allow this. It would be the best solution, if we can now use the soundbar and just use era 300's for the front and side channels
For now you can build your system like this, which I'm sure Sonos will release software to coordinate the effect. I have the arc system with 2 subs and 2 era 300. But i also have another paired era 300's in the front. It's paired, and then I grouped together the sonos arc system with the front pairs. The front pairs are just stereo, but they produce height and atmos effects. It widens the sound stage of the arc and pretty much solves every complaint addressed in this video. The bubble that you are engulfed in is pretty insane...@@ms3862
Haven’t heard the Q930C but I suspect you will be annoyed with yourself if you didn’t go for the best … the space … I think it will sound great - and just the one guy for this channel and the occasionally hand me something from the floor five yo helper
Thanks for this wonderful review. The Samsung Q990C is a mighty soundbar, not just in size but also in sound. Just heard it in the store with movies and music and it was an amazing experience. However, I felt the surrounds were not very powerful and most of the work was done by the soundbar. Is that normal or that’s how the Q990C is supposed to sound? Another consideration is the room size. Our room is not that big, around 13’ by 12’ (so about 150 sq. ft.). Do you think the Samsung Q990C will be a good option for this room size l? Or should I go for another option? Btw, the Samsung Q990C is available for around $900 on a deal. Should I go for it or do you suggest some other option at this price? Thanks again for this in-depth and amazing content. Your channel will grow at a rapid rate with this level of content and review. Hands down, your reviews are the most detailed and unbiased out of all the soundbar reviews I’ve seen on RUclips. Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks for the comment. About the surrounds you can adjust their level to be quite noticeable - also quality of audio has an impact - for instance they will sound much more pronounced from Dolbt THD than Dolby Digital +. While the surrounds are meaty in the soundbar space they are fairly minute in the separates space … so they will never be monsters but they can get plenty pound with the right content and settings. This bar will easily overwhelm a room of that size - and much bigger. This means you will just not be able to use a lot of its sound volume potential - for $900 it’s a very good purchase. And I’m sure you can find the right sound settings for it to compliment the room
@@neverenoughtech Hey Daniel, thanks for your comment. I guess I'll have to tinker with the settings a bit to get the right sound. And yes, I do agree with you that I won't be able to explore the full potential of this sound bar in a relatively smaller room. The plan was to have it installed in my room and then move it to a much bigger living room when the living room ones don't work as expected. I would like to see a comparison of the Q990C with the Bose Soundbar 900 with the rear surrounds and the base module if you already have those. I had heard the Bose in the store and they sounded incredible. Maybe because of the demo content but they sounded awesome nevertheless. Thanks again for your hard work and dedication to the world of soundbars. You're doing an amazing job. Keep up the good work.
I've already gone down the Sonos rabbit hole and probably stick with them for the next +5 years (18 total from Symfonisk, Beam, Arc, Fives, One SL, subs, Era 100). The ease of use with minimum frustrations from my non tech savvy family, my current/old iPhones or iPad can be a Sonos remote, being able to upgrade and repurpose individual componentes is a huge plus, don't do DVD/Bluray/XBox/Playstation, and it sound fantastic to me with any audio source. I replaced my Nakamichi 7.2.4 with the Arc, dual sub, & Fives after X-mas and haven't regretted the upgrade. I can wait for the Arc v2 or Era 500s and hand down my Arc v1 or Fives to a family member, sell, or use in a spare room.
You should try Blu-rays/4K blurays cz that’s how you’ll get the best sound compared to streaming platforms so you’ll get to use ur sonos system to its full potential(:
@@ishkapiska4516 I did Blu-ray with Netflix; but, stopped because of the slow turnaround time and reduced selection over time compared to streaming. I think we will see an increase in streaming audio quality that will take full advantage to be very similar to Blu-ray in a few years. I'm beginning to think all physical media will go away in favor for streaming with faster data speeds.
Hi, I have a 18ft ceiling in my living room which is a challenge for sound bars that need to bounce the sound off the ceiling… can you recommend a solution for this? Thanks
I’d say much of the Atmos effect is in the Eqing and side wall bouncing. My general advice is to just higher quality components … they tend to shine (sound better) in bigger spaces where lesser systems get exposed. Leaving the dragon off to the side due to price and not enough reviews - I’d suggest the q990B/C , arc with 300s and Sub … the A9 … and may consider the cinema 1200 … you will want surrounds to help preserve the 3D effects.
if the entire world says 1+1=2 but you say its = 3 then i will believe you because you are always right. you are always so right that if you become a judge, you would solve all the cases in the world and do it so fast becasue no matter what happens, you are right
While my brain tells me to go with the Q990C, my heart (and my wife) tells me to go with the the Sonos Arc + Era 300s + Sub. Add us to the "looks matter" crowd for all of the reasons you stated plus you can get the 300s in white to blend in better with the walls. I think my strategy will be to simply move the Arc to the bedroom when Sonos releases their next version and swap the bar. One question about the Q990C - Would it look odd mounted to the wall? It is over a fireplace for me so no console to put it on.
I don’t think the C is going to look great on the wall over the fireplace … aesthetically it’s best served sitting on a surface … the white Arc is a much more friendly wall attachment. And thanks for this comment for more proof that people care about looks 👍
I am in the exact same boat as you. I want the Q990C but my wife and I hate how it only comes in black... guess you can't be too picky at this price point.
I just think OEMs should ditch soundbar design at this point. All that spatial software tech and number of speakers crammed in one unit means nothing if they all result in a distinct wall of sound that lacks distinct separation - inless you have a stupidly long sound bar to achieve this. I mean, just comparing the separation between the rears and the bar itself with any soundbar package that bundles them in is night and day in regards to what the benefits are of individual moduels. This is exactly why Samsung, sonos, or any other soundboard manufacturer should take notes on the Sonys' recent HT-A9 speakers that are stupidly good, and powerful to boot, especially with their virtual surround and acoustic room calibration. The only downside is the lack of a centre channel - while still impressive virtually - could be improved with a physical module that doesn't have to be massive. Still, the power and size of the drivers inside them offer some distinct omph that most sound bars lack due to the constraints of the soundbar form factor.
Thanks for having the balls to say that the Samsung bar sounds better than the Sonos bar. Agree with your points about the narrow soundbarlike soundfields of the Samsung. I have mine mounted below my screen and pointed up towards the ceiling instead of towards the audience. Much wider, more expansive, better sound mounted this way IMO that covers my entire 120 inch screen.
What r u talking about this guys is an idiot he never says Sonos r good lol r u serious there’s nothing better than the Sonos than especially now with the 300
Makes zero sense, with the soundbar pointed up at the ceiling, the upward firing speakers would be pointed at the wrong place. And these speakers are designed to be listened to on axis. I call BS.
I have both of these sound systems at my house. The Samsung rear surround speakers are NOT GOOD. The only time they ever "lit up" and show case it's power is only when the source contains Dolby ATMOS from either a Netflix or Amazon Prime shows. When that happened, they sound GREAT. Otherwise you can barely hear any sound coming out of them even when the sound level for them are set to the highest level at 6. The Sonos ones are completely diffierent and very active regardless of the incoming sources.
That’s a fair though my view is not quite as negative as yours … do not perceive it quite as quiet as you perceive … I tend to watch almost exclusively atmos content when show or movie … if it’s not atmos then the audio is probably pretty bad and I don’t have all that high expectations
@neverenoughtech It's just strange that the Samsung sound level is so low that it's almost inaudible but yet Sonos is quite loud regardless of the incoming source. Not trying to be negative lol. I watch TV every day with the Samsung sound bar and just experienced it.
Hi, great content. Very detailed, its not "fancy" but packet with information. Congrats. I live in Poland and I bought q990 for about 900$. In case of sonos, only Arc costs ~1k$ not mentioning the rest of the set so I dont think that this is fair battle ;) Sonos sound very dry and cold for me... Something like JBL
We have both a Samsung Q930B and a Sonos Beam Gen2 on two LG OLEDs here so very familiar with the limitations mentioned. The "apple phone only" restriction is easy to get around. Just borrow a friend's apple device for 10 minutes to set up their room tuning feature, uninstall the Sonos app from their phone and then you can enjoy it without an Apple device. It's a set it once affair unless you move/change room setup. But the Samsung is definitely a superior product.
@@jamesg8246 yes, thanks :) I missed a sale on the q930c here in France but there is still one on the q800c I'm thinking about going for it, hope there is not to much difference with the q930c (apart from rear speakers)
@@bridew If it has the rear speakers that are wired to a remote amp, I'd pass. The models with wireless surrounds that have their own amp and only need ac power are better.

I appreciate the sentiment … I’m of the mind that you have exactly as many as you deserve (assuming YT is being fair). But maybe I can figure out how to deserve more.
After watching your 990B review I bought the 910B as a more friendly budget option. But I was never able to figure out if the bar itself is identical to the 990b?> Are they? Thanks you
Thanks! Firstly, you're damn hilarious, and I love your style and snarky attitude. Secondly, I emailed you once needing advice, and within 6 to 8 hours you got back to me, and that was astonishing! Keep it up. I'll spread the word!
My video recommendations would not change based on that tv model - Sonos may release a new soundbar and more functionality this year so it may be worth waiting . ruclips.net/video/UCnY0bGPpB8/видео.htmlsi=JslYwn-bDHxkGcJM
Two 300 Eras cost more than I paid for the Q995B (Q990B) here in Sweden :) it's very difficult to justify the price difference for a total system. The 990C can be had for 100 USD more than two 300 Eras so even if the 990C comes in a bit higher the price difference is huge for a complete system. On Black Friday the 990C will most likely be possible to get for around 800-ish USD here in Sweden at least. Thank you for the review, not sure why I watched it as I am not buying the Sonos :D
Prudent doesn't mean best though. Of course Samsung is the "budget" winner or the best bang for buck. For people invested in the Sonos system where money isn't the biggest object, surely the Sonos is the better choice, no?
That’s my issue. I can get the 990C for $900 tax included. Two era 300s not currently on sale are 900 before tax. Then I’d still need the sub and arc. And from everything you read the arc is very meh. I’m lost. Haha. I debated the dragon but also wondering about the other Nakamichi offerings.
My wife suggests you change the channel name from: #NeverEnoughTech to: #StopEncouragingMyHusbandToBuyMoreTech 🤓 Another fantastic video ... thanks for the advice 'n tips !

Samsung 990c costs $750 through Samsung EPP site whereas Sonos Arc + 2xEra 300 + 1 Sub Gen 3 costs around $2000 with all discounts during offer period. Understand the Sonos provides a more seamless Wifi based experience, but if you don’t have additional Sonos products to take advantage of the Sonos ecosystem, Samsung system is a very very good system to opt for.
Q990D (2024)is just like the Q990C (2023) but with HDMI 2.1 (4k 120 Hz) passthru. Since I don't play games it makes no difference, just hope there will be some discounted Q990C deals once the D is out. Thanks for the review, although the real good stuff is after minute 30 :D
Because of the price, I thought the Sonos Arc was the best out there and I was considering getting the 990C to have a decent system that could make me imagine how the Sonos would sound like, now I see the 990C could actually be better in many situations 😅.

I buyed Q990c for 800 dlls days ago and I'm surprised the detail of sound. Thanks for the review. Greatings from Mexico.
I sense 80-90 is a good way to get the police’s attention 😬
Samsungs Q990C and Q990B soundbars are the best out there in terms of price/performance if you get them on a deal. You can get them for less than half of the price of anything that even comes close to competing. And well, if you really want the best of the best and are willing to spend over $2000 on a soundbar... might as well go the extra mile and get a Nakamichi Dragon for nearly $4000.
Samsung are great if you get them for the discount. Sonos/Dragon are if you want best of the best.
@@thenonexistinghero How about Sony a7000? I want to know your experience of using it.
You should’ve chosen the 9500s they are better for that soundbar

I can barely tell q symphony is turned on my 990d completely overwhelms my 77 inch s 90c
I tend to agree - that it’s a neutral to negative for a big system. I think it has a larger impact on smaller bars
Well, I've just subscribed your channel because you have great reviewing skills. Keep up the good work.
They don't need a new bar, they just need to let us use the era300 as front channels. So instead of the Arc with two era 300s we use four era300s and the sub
Well you will need to plug into something to feed the 300s so that might as well be a center channel as opposed to the A9 box
@@neverenoughtech Perhaps a very small bar then just to act as the center channel and datafeed
I added my Sonos ones with the Arc side to side, with my 300 s and sub makes my forward sound 10 times better, I know it’s not the sound bar but it’s an improvement, great video 👍
Next time you can, get a second sub for your setup and put that in the back of the room. It will shake the roof.
Your video is perfect. Thanks! Earned a sub, even though I came here for one time purchase advice about Q990C
I’ll take all the support I can get. Thanks!
Awesome video!! Now we need to see the new nakamichi dragon 😊
I did my part - paying them a bunch of money - they need to send it to me
lovely. Sonos to me wins for the ecosystem. I love its expandable nature and knowing i can retire pieces to other rooms as they roll out new modular pieces… chefs kiss. I will put my one SLs in two rooms and add 300s
The lack of bass is a deal killer for me. If there's one thing that makes a home audio system, it's that deep, rich bass.
Great video. I bought both the arc and Q990C and preferred the consistency on the arc for things like regular satellite tv and stereo content. The Q990C was great with Atmos, but as a house we all preferred the Arc
Arc stands for family - how it goes at our house
Ugh, I don't want to hear that. I bought an arc system with sl ones at the beginning of the year.
😬 oops
The 300’s are so capable, it’s kind of a waste of their talents using them as only surrounds.
@@sobeautifulsrilankatotal waste but they are awesome rears
This video review really makes me want to wait until next year to buy anything. The small sub on the Samsung and the weaker Arc sound bar makes it seem like there's a compromise when choosing either one of these sets. For $1500 or more, I'm not sure I'm willing to do that.
why did you not add the 2 era 300s as a stereo pair to the arc
I did that in other videos - wacky to do it every time

Samsung is cheap with the licensing fees, however, Samsung does discount their products as the year progresses. Sony has very little price decreases and LG doesn’t have much more. It’s amazing that you can buy a Samsung S90C 65” QD OLED for less than a LG C3 or Sony A80L. That makes zero sense.

You could sell the C for a less total loss if you wanted to upgrade

I agree the Arc is the weak link in the Sonos. Currently I have the Arc with 300s and 2 Subs (built over time, not all at once). The Arc is still a fantastic bar, but still leaves me wanting more. Hopefully an Arc 2 can improve the front soundstage and I can move my Arc to another room. Good video!
I’m kind of hoping for not an Arc 2 but something completely different … I don’t think a version update is going to be all that satisfying … appreciate the comment!
Can you simply use two 300's in the front and two 300's as rears? Or would that not achieve what the Arc is currently providing?
@@Scruffy04Sonos does not allow this. It would be the best solution, if we can now use the soundbar and just use era 300's for the front and side channels
For now you can build your system like this, which I'm sure Sonos will release software to coordinate the effect. I have the arc system with 2 subs and 2 era 300. But i also have another paired era 300's in the front. It's paired, and then I grouped together the sonos arc system with the front pairs. The front pairs are just stereo, but they produce height and atmos effects. It widens the sound stage of the arc and pretty much solves every complaint addressed in this video. Hi guys. I need help. For a 24 square meters living room Q990C is overkill? Or should i go for Q930C? Thanks
@@neverenoughtech
Hey Daniel, thanks for your comment.

Yeah, plus the Arc comes in white as well and the fireplace brick is floor to ceiling white. @@neverenoughtech

btw, amazing breakdown, but it would have been helpful to the viewer to see the breakdown in text after each segment, just saying.

I’ve argued very similar points in many videos . Chiefly got to explode the SB up front into multiple pieces to really move the performance forward
Also mention this a lot in my various A9 vids - 3 of them
Thanks for having the balls to say that the Samsung bar sounds better than the Sonos bar.
I bought samsung 930b and save huge money.... 😂
Hi, great content. Very detailed, its not "fancy" but packet with information. Congrats.
I live in Poland and I bought q990 for about 900$. In case of sonos, only Arc costs ~1k$ not mentioning the rest of the set so I dont think that this is fair battle ;)
Sonos sound very dry and cold for me... Something like JBL
I love all of your content thank you!
Is the sonos comparable?
@@bridew comparable to what? The Samsung Q930b? Not even in the same category.
Shouldnt this be more balanced with only the Era300+ Sub? They should still do good simply a speaker pair for movie watching.
Part 2: Arc, Era 100, Era 300, Five, HomePods (Home Theater Performance)

I talk about that arrangement in this video
I appreciate your dark humour. Good stuff. Keep it up!
I thought I was just grumpy … hadn’t realized it went dark …. Either case … will do 😎😀🌧️
haha love the humor
Forwarded to my wife
I just bought samsung q990b for roughly below $800 in India.
That is a very good price - less than the arc bar by itself - and you are a certified member of the “I found a good deal” Braggy Bunch. It’s a prestigious community.
Your channel deserves more subs!
Thanks you
I’m very confident that the driver array is identical - I’m not sure if there are less visible hardware differences
I have the sonos arc with the sonos 1, is it worth getting the era 300 speakers just for atmos surround sound?
Yes - total game changer - no doubt
Finally a q990c indepth analysis and camparison. Thank you .
Thanks for watching!
These have been the battle for me on which first Soundbar to get for my new apartment. I think I'm definitely going with the Q990c. Amazing video BTW.
They make for an interesting choice for sure. Appreciate the comment!
Your neighbors will hate you hahah
Denon AVR-X8700H+samsung q990c and 2 more speakers you have imersive sound my opinion ..
Thanks! Firstly, you're damn hilarious, and I love your style and snarky attitude. Secondly, I emailed you once needing advice, and within 6 to 8 hours you got back to me, and that was astonishing! Keep it up. I'll spread the word!
Many many thanks!
Sucky muy ball now
Those 48 minutes flew by. Very entertaining to me, and don't worry my son fed him self while I was watching. Win Win.
Ohhh your kid is awesome
I'm just here to justify my impulse purchase 😂😂😂
That works
Serious work, i have some disagreement but you did everything with care. new subscriber.
I rarely allow dissenters but I’ll make an exception. Appreciate the comment.
Thank you for doing quality soundbar reviews. This space on RUclips needs it!
Thanks so much … it means a lot
Yes he does the best reviews, and the man knows his stuff
Im a sonos owner and idc what the score ends up being, this is a great video and I like this dude. New sub 👍🏽
Excellent review! Thank you 🙏 what system would you recommend for Tv LG OLED C3?
My video recommendations would not change based on that tv model - Sonos may release a new soundbar and more functionality this year so it may be worth waiting . ruclips.net/video/UCnY0bGPpB8/видео.htmlsi=JslYwn-bDHxkGcJM
Thank you!
Customer service is there such a thing. lol
Yeah, I definitely name the C/(B more so) the prudent purchase for a flagship bar
My wife suggests you change the channel name from: #NeverEnoughTech to: #StopEncouragingMyHusbandToBuyMoreTech 🤓
Another fantastic video ... thanks for the advice 'n tips !
I thought it was well understood that you should not let wives know you watch NET videos. I appreciate the comment … though I hold the greatest level of sympathy for my wife 🤦♂️😬
@@neverenoughtech 👍
The 990C is now on special on Amazon @ $899! Just snagged one to replace the Sony HT-ST5000 I’ve never been impressed with. 🤞🏻
