    I’ve had a playbar in my living room for 7 years and a couple 1 SLs around the house. Just upgraded to an arc+sub gen3. These speakers really are incredible and worth the high cost. Planning on buying a couple more 1 SLs for rears now.

    Got my Arc for a solid 6 months now and I am still blown away when watching some movies with how cinema like the sound is. The only thing you are missing without a sub is the sofa shaking bass. Everything above that still has bass so good, it is actually hard to believe, since it's just a long tube in front of the TV. I will most likely get the sub at some point but man it sure is not necessary one bit. Even in our big living room with high ceilings the bass and sound fills the room. Still mad in love with this thing haha

      I like the surround sound with the one SL, but I would love surrounds with up firing speakers.
      Also, as far as things that are not that great that a lot of reviewers don't mention is that Sonos simulated height channels are terrible when compared to it's competition, and channel separation is also lacking

      @@mizzle299same here , but they are working on that apparently. I think Sony's HT - A9 is a great idea but not in the long run. Software will be outdated plus sony's aftersale is terrible. Hopefully Sonos will make a game changer on the surround front.

      Perfectly answered my question. I currently run a traditional 7.2.4 Atmos Surround. Pushing close to 2K Watts of power. Total cost is less than $3K. I have purchased most of my equipment during sales and discounts. I have everything paired to a 100” projector. I do have a Vizio 5.1 soundbar system and I am quite satisfied with its power and clarity output. I was considering a Sonos setup per a recommendation, but for its cost, I believe other options are better. The less expensive brands and models deliver a lot of bang for your money.

    For medium size room and 77 inch TV which option will be logical? Sonos Arc + Sub mini or Sonos Beam Gen 2 + Sub mini + two Sonos Era 100 ?

    • @mrgold3591
      @mrgold3591 Месяц назад +1

      I have a LG OLED 77C1 (Arc/dual Gen 3 subs/Fives) in a large main room and 55C1 (Beam Gen 2/Gen 3 sub/One SL) in medium office. They both sound fantastic because the systems fits the room sizes. The advantage with Sonos is being able to mix/match speakers in the theater group depending on budget and desired listening profile. The Arc "Might" come out with a Arc Gen v2 in the next 6-12 months; but, the Beam Gen 2 hasn't been talked about for a Gen v3 upgrade. I think I would lean towards the Beam Gen 2, Sub mini, and Era 100 for the 77" TV. You would have the option to move the Beam into another room and an option to purchased the Arc Gen v2 1-2 years down the road.

    You dont need e-arc/HMDI 2.1 to get atmos. You will still get atmos over standard HDMI Arc but it will be compressed. Lossless Atmos is available only via e-arc, but if you're using streaming services it doesnt make a huge difference since that will be coded as the lossy Dolby Digital Plus

      Unfortunately lots of TVs made before 2018 won’t pass through Atmos even through a standard ARC connection. But yes, you’re right… if your TV can pass through Atmos with ARC and you only watch Atmos content through streaming services then there’s no need to upgrade your TV to one with eARC.

    As a Sonos Eco System owner of: Arc,Sub,Sonos1x2. I have something to say. The app actually isn't easy to use for non techy owners. I had the system for a year now, and I realized their major flaw... That is the connectivity. This is their best feature; yet it can be the owner's nightmare. Let me explain. The entire system is integrated into the app via your WI-FI network. Router shoots out new Internet Protocol (IP) Address along with DNS, DHCP when it restarts. Let's say that your area had a local power or internet outage or you accidentally plugged out the ARC, or Sub, or anything connected to your Home Theatre System... Your nightmare begins. You now have a NEW Internet Protocol Address. The App won't detect your systems since your DHCP has been resetted. Be prepared to uninstall the App, factory reset the system, reconnect the installation that takes around 30min - 45 min to configure. You try to reconnect your system into the app, and now comes hell. it will not detect your surrounds or fail to connect wi-fi. WTF is going on? Prepare to unlink the TV WI-FI and retype the new password. Restart the phone, and disconnect from wi-fi, and reconnect by typing new password. Now you're ready. But wait... every saved data on your eco system is now gone. Alexa needs to be reconfigured too. It is hell. For price of the entire eco system, go with Sennheiser Ambeo Max. Seriously. Easier to use, and better quality of sound for same price of entire eco 5.1 set. The Pro of this system is that the Atmos is amazing; however, for the amount of problem it can encounter if your internet is down, it is not worth it. Wired Connection is necessary as an option for people that don't want internet system.

    • @mrgold3591
      @mrgold3591 Год назад +1

      @@AzizIzgin I think it really depends on your room set-up and your mix % of movies vs music vs TV? My cable service channels seem to be stereo most of the time and the rear surrounds don't get a lot of work. I have to set the surrounds to full in the Sonos app to get the rears working for music. The sub seems to always work with all kinds of audio from stereo to Atmos. The sub feels like it pulling the bass away from the soundbar/surrounds so they can just focus on the mids/highs for noticeably richer sounding response. The sub will give you very good base and that "rumble" feeling during action movies.

    I’m soon to get a Arc/Sub/Rear combo and am curious about your recommendation to upgrade wifi router. I’m still using an old wifi 5 router, Netgear Nighthawk 1750. I’ve yet to have a good reason to upgrade, since its had rock solid stability and never have any dropped connections. Though all I use with it wirelessly are a MBP, couple iPads, Series X or Switch console, plus an Apple TV via cat5..
    I guess I’ll soon find out if it works with my Sonos and remains stable. Any other reasons I might consider upgrading?

      If you’re getting good speeds throughout your whole house and are happy with its performance then I’d get the Arc and see if it still performs well. I’m a big fan of the Netgear nighthawk routers and have setup 100’s of them over the years for customers without many issues. If it’s working well for you now then I’m sure it’ll work well with Sonos.

      @@archwaytech definitely had to get a new router. Sonos just didn’t like my old beat up nighthawk with missing antenna. Was unexpected, since all my other devices have always connected just fine - maybe it was past the # device connection limit.
      Anyhow it was smooth sailing after picking up a new wifi6 nighthawk router and an Arc. I’m thrilled with it so far, Such amazing sound quality. Music sounds even better and with as much clarity as my $1500 professional monitors.

Some that that you mentioned already but I just feel like it's really built for the future at this time. No hdmi 2.1 in and bluetooth which means you have to have wifi to use this device. Imagine if all your speakers needed wifi to work. I might be pulling the trigger on the Q990B instead as it has most of the things I want for now under $1,000 for BF. You could even get the system for under $750 if you pair it up with with samsung tv! That's crazy for such a system that is very comparable to Sonos at more then half the cost possibly. As long as your TV supports HDMI ARC or eARC (naming is unrelated to the Sonos Arc, HDMI ARC/eARC is a feature of TVs that’s used by many sound bars) you just need to plug your console into your TV and the should go from the console, through the TV (but not the TV speakers) and to the sound bar.

    Hi Josh, I have a Bose Soundtouch 300 and Acoustimass 300. I've been considering the Sonos Arc + Sub combo without the rears. Do you think this is a worthwhile upgrade? We mainly use for streaming services. No physical media. My tv passes DD+ over HDMI ARC, so I'm guessing I should get compressed Atmos? Your thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers

    • @archwaytech
      @archwaytech  Год назад +2

      Hey William. I think that’ll be a massive upgrade. The ARC is a much more powerful Soundbar over the Bose Soundtouch 300 and the Sonos sub should be much better than the acoustimass 300. You should get better dialogue and range in sound. If you can I highly recommend you test it out in store for you to be the judge.
      Regarding your TV playing Atmos… check this website for whether it can pass through Atmos, as my 2018 Samsung can send DD+ to the arc but not Atmos:
      www.flatpanelshd.com/focus.php?subaction=showfull&id=1608282747
      Use the search bar at the top of the page and chuck in your tv model number. It should come up.

    does adding a sub and or Sonos 5s allow the Sonos ARC to be noticeably, cleaner and more dynamic since some of the work goes to other speakers? Or is it just the Sonos software and hardware design that stops it from sounding as good as say a quality pair of studio monitors, like say Yamaha HS8?
