They make reusable gaskets for the 14 bolt rear ends but I don't know if they make them for the 12 bolt rear ends.

I think the official torque spec is...
"goodensnug". That is what I've always used. LOL

If it was me, since you had the rear cover off. I would have pulled the axels and replaced the axel bearings and seals! But that's just my opinion .
