Related to your last Q to ask is something I’ve utilized to great effect for myself as an ‘end of interview’ Q:
    Do you have any questions?
Yes, thank you. We’ve had a nice conversation, and we’ve both asked and answered a number of questions. Considering everything you’ve heard, is there anything I’ve said or done that would lead you to think I am not the ideal candidate for this position?
I love this question because you get instant feedback on your interview, AND if they’ve developed any hesitancy during the conversation, they can mention it now giving you the opportunity to clarify or enhance your answers to assuage their concerns. It also leaves them with the thought “why WOULDN’T we hire this person?”
As they leave the interview, they are thinking how you’ve explained why you’re ideal, and they have already told you what they might have been worried with, and you addressed those concerns.
I had one interview where I asked that Q, and after they thought for a bit, they said, “no, you have exactly the skills we’re looking for” so I said great, when do I start :)
Full disclosure: I ended up not getting the job because of your Question 2.
I had all of the skills and experience they wanted, but my question about being the ideal candidate failed to ask about culture in the company.
It turned out (as I discovered the next day after an in-depth Q&A with the HR person when she called not to offer me the job, not what I was expecting, but instead to explain what blocked me) they felt I was too aggressive (they asked me how I would manage a factory in another country, and you can’t be passive about that), and they thought my ‘style’ would conflict with the company’s more surfer dude mentality.
I’ve since added a question about “Given what you’ve heard so far, do you see any reason I might not fit in well with the team?” or something like that. This gives them an opportunity to express any concerns they’re keeping in without saying anything negative about you.
In the case of my negative hiring result mentioned, they could have said “well, we’re a very laid back company/team, and you seem to be very forceful which might create conflicts” which would have given me the opportunity to explain apologetically that “I’m sorry if I gave that impression as I’m quite good adapting to different teams.
You asked how I would manage a foreign factory, and in that case I’ve found a more forthright approach works best. I’m sorry if I gave you the impression that’s how I would approach teammates”
So both skill and ability AND cultural fit can be addressed at the end of the interview to help you see how you’ve come across and leave them with the thought that they have no reason NOT to hire you.
    My experience anyway.

This gave me some great ideas for my second interview with my dream fresh-out-of-college type job. Your other videos helped me ace the first one so hopefully this will get me across the finish line!
EDIT: I did get the job! Great advice. Thank you!

    Dear Don,
Thank you so much for always making this video so helpful and valuable. I will choose some of them since asking 10 questions at the end of an interview is tricky.

Another very important question everyone must ask is "May I have your contact information?" or "May I have your business card?" At the end of the interview, we are expected to send thank yous to the people at the interview. That is why I am recommending that everyone ask this question.

If a recruiter (from recruitment firm) reached out and had a chat with me about a position for their client, would it make any sense to apply with the client as they have the job ad online as well? I think the recruiter will feel I betrayed them, but not sure if I did that I can end up in a better offer?

Can I ask them to connect me with someone from the team so I have better idea of the role? Or is this can only be asked after the offer?

Hi Don, does it worth going on an interview if I am already happy with my job? Can I ask questions about salary range and remote work before the interview just to decide whether it makes sense to go for it? I feel you will say keep these after interviewing and to use it as practice, I can practice but I feel if I go through the process and reject their offer, I might not be called for interview in the future with them.

What prompted that question? I can't believe I said anything even remotely similar to that, unless you are twisting my words beyond belief.

@@DonGeorgevich let me review and grab the point your speech that grabbed my attention. Maybe those with A. D. D. are good enough for a BSME but not suitable to be hired as a mechanical engineer because they don't interview well because they process things slower.
