It's upsetting to see. And why did she let her daughters weight get to that point in the first place? Wasn't she worried about her health? She could have made an effort to clean up their diets and be active together. But it seema like she didn't care until it came to the point where she needs to be "shown off to the community". She doesn't even care about her healthy and happiness, it's just about how she looks. So awful.

@@evergreen_juno but she did say that she was emotionally not up for it because of her appearance, not any other factor, so encouraging self worth isnt going to actually help her long run cause it will only last temporarily and when she gains more weight she will naturally revert back into her state of depression. having the experience of losing weight and looking beautiful could most possible be one of the best experiences for her, she liked exercising and she felt great losing the weight. so in the future if she does gain weight she wont feel bad about it cause she knows she can work out have fun and lose the weight.

I've seen this a lot from women in communities/environments that encourage competition in women. Those environments are ones that pretty women fall into. Then guys want babies with them. But if those guys want daughters they better get to know the women first because...
With moms like that there can be a double edged sword.
She hates it when you look better than her. If your skinny, she will brings you down and only be happy when she fills you with food.
So you give in and destroy yourself before you even know why your doing it.
Then you're bigger and (even though she's constantly belittling you), she's happier with herself because she looks better than you.

      1. Try to avoid eating before sleeping. That's when metabolism kicks in hard. If you eat before bed you weaken it. The more you fast the better.
      2. Try to avoid carbs. Focus on protein, and plant based foods, fat, and fiber. And try to eat less in general. Alcohol and fastfood can make you gain weight nonstop, so they're no. 1 to avoid.
      3. Build muscle. Muscle speeds up metabolism. Legs are biggest muscle in body, so do squats.

Fast forward; 3 and a half years later; and I took off 60 pounds at the age of 21, and NOT because it was my mother's decision, but my OWN. This culture is definitely harmful! When it came time for the Prom my tomboys were the most girly, beautiful looking young ladies in gorgeous, appropriate dresses!
