Turns out it was only 2 and a half weeks since my last John Farnham reaction but I just couldn’t help myself! 😆 What did you think of this performance and are there any other duets you’d like me to watch?
When Something Is Wrong With My Baby with Jimmy Barnes . Jimmy Barnes like John isn’t that successful outside Australia . But in Australia like John he is at legend status and has had more number 1 albums than any other artist on the Australian chart solo and counting his on and off again band Cold Chisel . 15 solo number 1 albums 5 Cold Chisel number 1 albums , 20 number 1 albums out numbering the Beatles , Madonna and U2 . Jimmy in the early 90’s recorded a soul music tribute album full of Jimmy’s favourite soul songs Soul Deep . Jimmy invited John to record the Sam & Dave original. This cover just oozes soul . When Something Is Wrong With My Baby also peaked at number 3 on the Australian Aria singles charts in 1991 . The duet also propelled Soul Deep to be Jimmy Barnes highest selling album . ruclips.net/video/ihsfx1LuoKc/видео.html
Hi Nina, there’s a very clear version which explains how the duet came about via Aust. journalist Lisa Wilkinson who’d interviewed Celine in Las Vegas months earlier. The RUclips title is “John Farnham & Celine Dion - The Sunday Project”, on the YT channel Fully Farnham. Celine was absolutely lovely in her praise of John. She was also hilarious when the two of them were planning how to sing “The Voice”.
I love the hell out of these two artists. Actually, Celine Dion is the one who introduced me to John Farnham five years ago when she was doing his song on her tour. And one of the many reasons why I’m so thankful to be a Celine Dion fan, and now a John Farnham fan!
John is so good at harmonising his voice with whoever he is singing with which is why his duets always sound so good . He makes everyone sound good. The most moving duet ever is ‘Please Don’t Ask Me ‘ live with Olivia Newton-John.Their voices are amazing together.
There is a video that shows Celine telling John that she has been listening to him on RUclips for years and what a gift he has and how she respects him so much.
Celine has been following and listening to John Farnham, who she's mentioned numerous times was one of her main inspirations growing up, LONG before RUclips was even a thing!
This was a total surprise to the Melbourne audience. Celine reached out to John knowing she would be playing in Melbourne, and being a massive fan of his, asked if he would sing with her there for a surprise performance. He being a great fan of hers also, he totally agreed straight away. I have seen footage of them getting together planning this....I think it was on Australian 60 minutes for a story on Celine. This fan was genuinely filming Celine, when she inadvertantly captured the extra gold that is The Voice.....and it went viral.....lucky fan....
Thank you for this one 😊. There are so many duos with John that are worth watching ----- I particularly love the one with Olivia Newton John - Please don't ask Me - and anything with Tom Jones ❤
There is a longer version of this. I love these two and you are right they have always been incredibly supportive of everyone around them. Celine has always called herself John’s number one fan. John is 69 years old here and they both went all fan like at each other. John got a little emotional and he doesn’t think anyone knows him, if he only knew. His DVD movie was released today and it’s mine. My husband asked haven’t I seen it twice, no, three times. So much makes me hurt for him in his first years. You can also watch it on RUclips if you aren’t in Australia but it costs us ordinary people. Thank you for this. It always makes me smile.❤
John was 69 here, and his voice was as fine as ever 😊 Celine is a huge fan, and genuinely admires him. The Coldplay/Farnham clip was part of a concert to raise funds for bushfire victims. Great crowd atmosphere. Farnham also did a beautiful live duet with Olivia Newton-John called Please Don't Ask Me around 2003. Definitely worth watching!
LOL! Make room, there are many more of us who are happy to be known as Nina's fans as well. After all, we share her impeccable taste and fine discernment! I'll put in a vote for for Olivia and "Please don't Ask Me". They shared a start on Australia's early music shows before Livvy left for the UK and then Hollywood. She came home often, especially during the 30+ years that she went in & out of remission for breast cancer. Olivia raised tens of millions of $ for a specialised research and holistic treatment facility for cancer (university affiliated) in Melbourne, and John helped whenever he could. For many years John & his family lived on a property just north of Melbourne. He and his wife of 50 years, Jill, learnt how to ride quarter horses in competition to state and national championship level. Love your work.
This is my gen. Why this song is so important, is because our voices have been silenced and we are a silent nation, however silence is also a gift. Many of us, can not sing, and so he sings for us, and sings about what matters to us. So he becomes our voice that is heard, and through him we can also sing together and will be heard. They are both of one of many that have significant health challenges and the incurable, that needs attention and a voice along with an ear that will hear. This is also the song off the album that he really earnt respect from our nation.
Great as usual Nina. I'll add my voice to the chorus of those asking for you to react to John and Olivia Newton John performing "Please Don't Ask Me", Main Event, 1998. It is, in my (biased) opinion, the best male/female duet of all time. The loved each other so much (platonically), it really shows in the performance. Some friendly advice; have a box of tissues handy - you'll need them. It's perfection.
If you're a Celine fan.. check out Tina Arena singing Chains at the WMA awards back in the 90's. Celine in the crowd was one of the few that recognised how good it was. (and you still need to see John singing this with Coldplay). How beloved is that bloke tho. Celine audience, absolutely explodes when John walks out.
Tina Arena is an John Farnham and Céline Dion clone , in a good way . Tina has much bigger belting range than Celine , but both got the French language music careers in common.
@@markjames3522 That's actually not true. Celine has a higher belting range (she belts up to 5G - a soprano belting range, which is reasonably rare) than Tina does (I've only heard Tina belt up to 5D or E - which is a standard mezzo belting range, a common vocal range - unless she belts in French songs), but Tina's tonal sound is wonderfully rounder, stronger, less harsh sounding than Celine's. I used to love belting with both of these women, Tina because she's a emotional powerhouse, Celine because of the vocal technique required to belt up to that high G - my voice was quite similar to Celine in range. I have always loved both these artists for their own unique styles, and find them quite equal, but different.
THE VOICE is Johns song .. He was first to record it in 19856. written by 3 British blokes in 1985 as a nuclear protest song.. No one sings it like our John... AND .. Tina Arena was one of the writers of CHAINS .. ONE OF HER BEST .. it was on her 1994 Album "DON'T ASK"
Gets you in the very heart and soul, doesn't it, Nina? I watch youtube videos of Farnsey every day - live concerts, documentaries, clips from Jesus Christ Superstar, guest appearances in tv shows, An audience with John Farnham, and so on. Can't get enough. Mch'24. UK. E ❤
Ooooh I love this duet. I can't believe that we're facing the bitter fate that we may not hear her sing again. I can't even imagine what she is going through.
That would have been an unforgettable experience for everyone in that audience! As usual, a great reaction to amazing artists. It's so unfortunate that they are both suffering from health issues. It's a sad realisation we may never see either of them perform again....
Absolutely, we can only send them good vibes. Thank goodness we have all these performances on record to celebrate their talents! Thanks so much for watching.
Hey Hey, Its Saturday - Tom Jones sings "My Yiddishe Mama" (feat. John Farnham). Two gentlemen exude gratification singing essentially a love song to mums. It's bliss: I promise.
They do the whole song tegther in concert quite a few years down the track that's even better .. in fact a whole concert of John and Tom together which is totally awesome
Luv your work 👌 I was at that Celine Dion concert and it was absolutely amazing the crowd went nuts when he walked out , you couldn’t actually hear them sing the crowd was so loud lol but Celine was breathtaking ❤
Thanks for your reaction. Your joy and enthusiasm come through so clearly. I couldn't help but smile and laugh along that whole video. I watch a lot of different reaction videos, I gotta say, you are my favourite 😆 Thanks for sharing the reaction.
Would of been such a memorable performance by those that got to witness not one but two legends on one stage together. Even John here as a much older man still slays it
The camera on stage was from a program we have in our country called the 'Sunday project' and they did a little segment on Farnham and Celine, which was pretty awesome for these 2 legends getting together and their admiration for each other.... as for this vid that you're putting up, there are other vids of this that doesn't cut out the end where it has them talking about each other on stage after this song... pretty awesome... here is a video link of that Sunday Project segment on Celine and John... ruclips.net/video/dX12Sa2Et8Y/видео.html
Bravo Nina! I think John's duet with Olivia of "Please don't ask me" is well worth a watch although maybe a little sad since losing Olivia. RIP ONJ !! Please keep smiling Nina.
Celine Dion is more than just supporting John, she's actually a great fan of his! :) He hasn't lost any of his charisma and appeal, and his magnificent voice!
You would probably love John's duet of Please Don't Ask Me with Olivia Newton-John from the Main Event concert in 1998. From the same concert, those two doing You're The One That I Want is a bit of fun, and his comedic take on Granada with Anthony Warlow is also great. :)
There are so many great versions of this song. For example at the Edinburgh Tattoo with massed bagpipes, Coldplay etc. It is a song that touches so many. It seems crazy that the composer refused to allow John to record it, and John recorded it anyway. He made it an anthem for everyone. I love the video of John and Celine meeting for the first time on The Sunday Project. Both of them being fans of each other. And it includes some of the footage from the camera on stage that you saw.
Hi Nina, not sure you are aware that John has been battling cancer but has in the last few days announced he’s clear ❤ I would love it if you can look and react to some of the songs he did touring with Tom Jones. Those two powerful voices together will knock your socks off 😅 love your work ❤
Yeah Coldplay back in 2009 while on tour helped out Sound Relief charity concert held in Sydney and in Melbourne at the same time . We’ll Coldplay halfway through their set Chris Martin said something to the crowd we got John Farnham to sing the Australian National Anthem . This was an epic performance 80,000 people at the Sydney Cricket Ground singing You’re The Voice back at them . John regards the Coldplay team up as a career highlight . Before John got the invitation to join in with Coldplay he was thinking doing his own set either in Sydney or Melbourne joining the rest of who’s who of Australian music industry. At that moment John was keeping a low profile he was enjoying he’s semi retirement . After the Coldplay stint John got the Farnham Band back together and made his last studio Jack 2010 . Céline Dion has stated that John has been major influences . Apparently John was working on a new album before the covid outbreak started he hinted that there maybe a a Céline Dion collaboration on this unfinished project. John has stated that Stevie Wonder is his favourite singer . Nina you have checkout John coving Stevie Wonders Loves In Need singing it a cappella with the Farnham Band on John’s 1990 Chain Reaction tour this performance is brilliant. John was Stevie Wonder support act back when Stevie toured Australia back in the early 80’s Stevie was so impressed he blown away by John he invited John to join him on his own set for a duet . Here’s the link to John’s version of Loves In Need ruclips.net/video/9m8-dc6FlCI/видео.html
Loves in Need with his band a cappella is so very beautiful; well worth watching (as with anything John has done). One you should watch is LISTEN TO THE WIND performed in Brisbane, John can sing anything!
The cameras were for the screens but yes they recorded the full tour. He said this is is bloody fantastic. John's main home is down near Melbourne hence why most released shows are Melbourne. He's loyal to his home town. Celine ended up using this all over the world
You need to find the Fire Aid concert in 2020 where John sung, which may have been the last time he performed like that. He then brought out some fire fighters who had done the hard yards on the front lines to be on stage with him
There's not a lot of people who can be described as a singers singer, John was definitely in that tiny group along with another Aussie Barry Gibb. I love the story about Bazza Gibb and Micheal Jackson, where Jackson, who was good friends with Barry, would ring him up just to ask him if he could sing a certain Bee Gees song down the phone lines to him. Bazza always did it as well.
I was very lucky to be at the Celine Melbourne show. The collaboration happened after Celine did an Australian TV interview re her shows, saying how much she loved Farnham and this song. The presenters suggested he get up and sing it with her and it kinda went from there, the 2 of them meeting (caught on camera) to work it out. She sang the song in every Australian city, but only this show in Melbourne was attended by John himself. Link of them getting together is here ruclips.net/video/dX12Sa2Et8Y/видео.html
Loved this. Look out for any duet between Casey Donovan and Emma Donovan. They are cousins, both power houses as singers. Very popular here in Australia.
I believe the writers didn't want him to record it - they only knew him from his King of Pop days - but he said stuff it and did it anyway. And like pretty much everything he does, he made it his own.
Right up till his recent surgery he was still perfectly in key in his 70's. The only thing that wavered was his ability to hit those long sustained notes with his lung capacity.
Awww thanks for doing this performance Nina. John has such a fanbase amoung other artists and in turn he is often a big fan of theirs - Celine, case in point. There is a video that is a bit longer of this same concert that I'll add here. It shows more of their post performance interaction on the stage and is just beautiful. Do yourself a favour and have a look for more of John's Duets. They are just brilliant. He is so generous with his support. His imromptu with Tom Jones doing My Yiddish Momme is just superb as well as his duet with Olivia Newton-John singing Please Don't Ask Me. ruclips.net/video/6bu-Ff9Ka6w/видео.html
Just thought everyone would like to know that we have just received a major health update here in Australia on John Farnhams health and his family have just made a statement saying that John is now cancer free.
There is a video - DR _KAP, who remasters and uploads videos - of their meeting before the concert where they are discussing the beginning of this song. I felt his appearance was going to be a surprise for the audience? Another great Farnsey song to react to is The Time Has Come. Mch'24. UK. E ❤.
The Manfred Mann songwriter that co-wrote the song did it for the Campaign For Nuclear Disarmament March in England. Nuclear weapons aimed across the world. Staring down the barrel of a gun
You know their is a range of amazing Australian artists that aren't international. The reason there are so many is the Pub rock scene before 2000 or 2010 they then boosted other performers up as well once they had some fame. Seriously should have a look at a few of those people if you want to see some good artist. I am struggling for names atm but sure someone scold me and blurt a few out in the replies 😂
Just point of interest john had been really sick with a chest infection up until a week prior to this so his lung capacity was unfortunately diminished and suffered a little.
If you see the recent cinematic documentary on John's career ups & downs (supposedly soon on DVD) you'll see that John recorded "You're the Voice", found a distributor then asked the writers' permission. If you have a VPN it's viewable on Channel 7 (Syd). His manager (Glen Wheatley) mortgaged his house for John to be able to record & distribute it. John's son told us last week that he's singing under the shower & around the house again. Have a look at a very young John singing Bridge over Troubled Waters accompanied by a piano in the early 1970s on RUclips. Cheers.
HI NINA, I HAVE WATCHED A COUPLE OF YOUR REACTIONS - LOVE IT, ESPECIALLY THE MUSIC FROM MY YOUNG DAYS, LIKE BOBBY HATFIELD's UNCHAINED MELODY 1965 - I WAS 16 and KISSED MY FIRST GIRLFRIEND AT A SCHOOL DANCE ( SOKKIE ) IN UPINGTON RSA - CELINE IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITES, ESPECIALLY WITH HER " MY HEART WILL GO ON " !! PLEASE CHECK OUT KRISIA TODOROVA from BULGARIA SINGING THIS SONG AT AGE 10 and ANASTASIA PETRYK from UKRAINE SINGING " I CAN'T LIVE " AT AGE 10 and AMIRA WILLIGHAGEN SINGING " O MIO BABBINO CARO " WITH ANDRE RIEU ORCHESTRA IN MAASTRICHT HOLLAND - ALL 3 THESE GIRLS WON VERY BIG TALENT COMPETITIONS AT MORE OR LESS AGE 9 !! MUSIC IS IN GOOD HANDS IF YOU HEAR SUCH YOUNG TALENT COMING THROUGH THE RANKS !! BOER BEN from RSA - MY EYESIGHT IS POOR - THAT IS WHY I USE CAPITAL LETTERS !!
These 2 videos are better quality ones The first is when they met up back stage and a bit of impromtu singing m.ruclips.net/video/JEMkuVNAu-8/видео.html The second is the whole performance m.ruclips.net/video/UxWdqk1Suac/видео.html
Wonderful song performed by two top singers. That will always do for me. A joy to watch and listen. You asked for another duet to react on. Here is one I like very much myself: "The Prayer" performed by Lucy & Martha Thomas from the UK.
I don't think the proper version or the official version of this is available anywhere, for the camera you saw, Celine always has that, she once said she loves to record her show as a souvernir
As for duets, I recommend Floor Jansen and Simone Simons in the songs "SanctaTerra" and "Stabat Mater Dolorosa" ruclips.net/video/cx22Yuj2nzg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/nhtOORYTGx8/видео.html&start_radio=1
Another great and beautiful Australian Delta Goodram has a very different and wonderful version of Your the voice It’s a very classy version 🙂 Sending love and good vibes to John and his family 💕💕 Sending love and good vibes to Celine and her family 💕💕 Two beautiful people 😊
The is what the camera was for. It doesn't have the whole song it some behind the scenes and you will love this ruclips.net/video/dX12Sa2Et8Y/видео.html
Thank you Nina for this reaction🙏🙏 Please continue Arijit series....few highly suggested classical songs by Arijit Amije tomar (Arijit audio version) Piya tu Piya Laal Ishq Aayat.....Love from India🇮🇳
Turns out it was only 2 and a half weeks since my last John Farnham reaction but I just couldn’t help myself! 😆 What did you think of this performance and are there any other duets you’d like me to watch?
There's a wonderful duet of Please Don't Ask Me that John sings together with Olivia Newton John. It's worth watching.
Oh yes, @ninaschofield, you MUST react to this one!❤
Please Don't ask Me with ONJ is a definate must watch

Here’s the link to John’s version of Loves In Need

Loves in Need with his band a cappella is so very beautiful; well worth watching (as with anything John has done). One you should watch is LISTEN TO THE WIND performed in Brisbane, John can sing anything!
The cameras were for the screens but yes they recorded the full tour. He said this is is bloody fantastic. John's main home is down near Melbourne hence why most released shows are Melbourne. He's loyal to his home town. Celine ended up using this all over the world
You need to find the Fire Aid concert in 2020 where John sung, which may have been the last time he performed like that. He then brought out some fire fighters who had done the hard yards on the front lines to be on stage with him
That double hand flap hello is so signature of Nina lol, interesting channel interesting melodic content and the most sparkly smile on youtube 😁
Great reaction thankyou. Love them both.
Neither is at their best here but we just want it to never end.
It is our anthem.
Thanks for alerting us to that and posting it. It was great !
Loved this. Look out for any duet between Casey Donovan and Emma Donovan. They are cousins, both power houses as singers. Very popular here in Australia.
Your the Voice was written for John Farnham he recorded it for his Whispering Jack album
There's no official recording sadly. Celine's shows are always filmed, but for her archive.
She’s totally a fangirl
Yes Coldplay. Also John farnham and Anthony warlow singing Grenada.
Just thought everyone would like to know that we have just received a major health update here in Australia on John Farnhams health and his family have just made a statement saying that John is now cancer free.
Umm YES, watch it and react to it. You will love it too!
There is a video - DR _KAP, who remasters and uploads videos - of their meeting before the concert where they are discussing the beginning of this song. I felt his appearance was going to be a surprise for the audience? Another great Farnsey song to react to is The Time Has Come. Mch'24. UK. E ❤.
have a look at JOHN singing WE TWO or REMINSCING live
Nina you are always been, and always be the most beautiful woman on the world ♥️🍀🙏
I recommend Loreen version also of this song (Loreen-You're The Voice (live 2021))
Thanks for the reaction! Would love to see you react to the new Celine songs from the "Love Again" soundtrack.
*Imagine him at about 50 still doing it and sounding like that*
Someone wrote he was 69
@@carokat1111 I can't remember the exact age but that is actually right
@ninaschofield this was the lead up to the 2 of them getting together to perform

OMG!! Where's this been hiding! My search-fu is obviously rubbish!

Interesting to note the different mic techniques. John is holding the mic so far away from his mouth compared to Celine.
These 2 videos are better quality ones
The first is when they met up back stage and a bit of impromtu singing

Here is the coversation after the song for you - ruclips.net/video/seqvE9k-7tg/видео.html
Thank you, I used your gift.
John was 69 and Celine was 50. Who said you lose it when you get older.
The cameras on stage were from an Australian TV show called "The Project" ruclips.net/video/JEMkuVNAu-8/видео.html
Farnham "Gethsemane" Jesus Christ Superstar, Sydney, the final night. Blow yourself away.
John and Tom Jones on hey hey
listen please~ power of love by Sohyang. from Korea ! bye~~~🥰
Wonderful song performed by two top singers. That will always do for me. A joy to watch and listen. You asked for another duet to react on. Here is one I like very much myself: "The Prayer" performed by Lucy & Martha Thomas from the UK.
There is a proper video of this
I don't think the proper version or the official version of this is available anywhere, for the camera you saw, Celine always has that, she once said she loves to record her show as a souvernir
As for duets, I recommend Floor Jansen and Simone Simons in the songs "SanctaTerra" and "Stabat Mater Dolorosa"
ruclips.net/video/cx22Yuj2nzg/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/nhtOORYTGx8/видео.html&start_radio=1
There is another version of this from a different angle and a little more interaction between them, cheers
Another great and beautiful Australian Delta Goodram has a very different and wonderful version of

Hi Nina Nina. It was a bit noisy. But thank you anyway. Be blessed.
John is now cancer free hallelujah!!
Celine has many unreleased official videos from tours and shows… such a shame
You’ve played this plenty of times now go do Kasey chambers!!!!!!!!!! Lose yourself!!! Eminem cover!!! It rises above this and is a masterpiece!!!!
Prefer John singing solo. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
