- Korean horn bow is historical significance; traditional archers
have been treasuring it over centuries. The bow composed with seven kinds of materials, it needs heat treatment each time
before use it. Demonstration by Master Kim, Dea Han Jung 대한정
Hello master kim. Hope all is well. This is Nazim from new york. I spoke to you on the phone and as you recommend I'm trying to learn as much as possible before I buy a horn bow. question1) does the arrow naturally shoot to the right in kuk gung? Question 2) do you aim with your left eye open and right eye close? I'm a right hand shooter. Thank you for your time
Amazing bows for sure. But the insane amount of adjustments before use just make it less practical. On the other side, it's probably an enjoyable process for anyone who likes bows. Very traditional.
newly made bows need delicate handling and heating to brace, but when an archer get used to his own horn bow, then he does not need to spend time in bracing procedure. As I watched at archery range, experienced archers who own 'tamed' bows does not need such complex procedure. Just string, check balance for a while and ready to shoot.
That's why there's carbon fiber for the rest of us.
@@ianchan8859 I prefer wood laminate 😁
Cool way to string. Will try it. Thanks
So my guess is modern Korean traditional bows are ready to go at any time with out having to use a heating process?
It is call high maintenance .
I guess the authentic materials such as horn needs more treatment than the modern materials used in modern KTB
he is heating the back, not the belly. the belly is the black side, the side facing the string. is it to soften the belly side?
It's not easy to heat the belly because the string is in the way, otherwise you risk damaging the bow. If you use low heat for few seconds the heat will transfer through the bow, since heat has conductive property
Do you store them in a light box or with a heat source?
I'm looking for someone to help me identify two Korean horn bows
So refine !
may I know how much it costs?
how did people heat their bows in wars. this is weird to me.
Body heat .
Im guessing bows made for warfare weren't quite so finicky as this. This bow is probably a very high performance kind of bow. But a lot of severely recurved horn bows seem to require some amount of work to maintain and brace.
anyway they always had fireplace and torch along with the army, maybe.
@@simonphoenix3789 that's a good point. I wonder if they made bows with less recurve and more draw weight that were ready to go
@@틱타알릭-b3x yeah that's a necessity, back then you can't even see without fire
I'll never ever get a horn bow !
