I think you just fixed an issue I've been having since I got the series 8. THANK YOU! one of the main things with the updates and stuff now is making sure the person in your contact list is listed under iPhone. That's the only other setting I didn't know/ check. Then it started working. I couldn't even connect to friends they could invite me, and request a convo, but no one would get my request, or a convo request from me. Ive been on the phone with apple about this problem a handful of times none of them helped me surfed the google, but couldn't find anything in depth about it. THANK YOU this was one feature I was super excited about when I looked at them in the store.

Searching this issue yields the same complaints for over 3 years and I'm suffering it still with iPhone 14 and Apple Watch 8. If Apple can't figure it out, they need to stop offering it because it's just a mess as It is.
THANK GOD someone said it. Literally punching the air right now. I was able to add two contacts that were STATES away from me but you’re telling me trying to add someone sitting right next to me is impossible for some reason? I’ve followed this video, step by step along with others. Nothing will let me add my husband to my list or vise versa. And this dude just keeps saying to people still struggling “idk bro worked for me and literally everyone else make sure you’re doing it right” WE LITERALLY ARE and still nothing? Like thanks for trying to help but it literally doesn’t work for everyone and it sucks 🍑
Why isn’t it as simple as like an airdrop?!! My daughter and I have tried tirelessly with all these steps and more and we cannot get it to work. Everything is up to date with software updates and it’s so frustrating.

I got the invites but when I select the other users name it will try to connect to them and will always say that there unavailable
What fixed it for us, was switching it to apple Iwatch, maybe it’s different for Iwatch SE. This video was big help though!! Thank you!

Hi there I don’t have the option to choose iPhone and iCloud for the email in my contacts app? I have the iPhone 14 pro and most up to date software on both. Please help!
I’ve never seen that and I’m confused how you wouldn’t, are you sure your hitting the mobile option to change it after hitting the edit button at the top of the contact

I found a solution after 1 week struggling.
Just turn off bluetooth on your apple watch. Than is starts to working. If you have done all facetime stuff and still it doesnt work, just turn off bluetooh.
But the point is when you go out if Bluetooth is off than you dont have any connection. So it only works on wifi on my series 4. On series 8 there is no such a bug

Finally got it to work. I made sure the iCloud email was the first one that has the Star next to it. It was trying to connect to my wife’s gmail even though I had her iCloud listed. The iCloud address needs to be first in the contacts and labeled correctly

So nothing including this worked for me. I even contacted apple and nothing. So what i did was go to my settings on my phone, go to facetime and turn it off for about 10 seconds then back on. Fixed my issues immediately 😭😭 it took me HOURS of research just to figure that out on my own 😮💨 hope this helps !!
It worked for me , thanks! But after some time when I tried to send a message to my friend it kept says the contact is not available. But if the same contact tries to walkie talkie me it works fine for them and I can reply perfectly. It’s just I can’t initiate the walkie talkie message first. Is there is fix for this issue.

6/10/23 this worked for me.
I have had difficulty with using my Apple Watch walk-in talkie program for sometime. Following this instruction is helpful. However, I think Apple is missing something very important. If something that is supposed to be a simple tool to use, is so problematic to set up, why is it worth the effort? Nope. Not buying it.

That didn’t work for me. The following works: Turning off Bluetooth on both mine and my wife‘s Apple Watch. But once we turn it on it stops working.

So you need to add the icloud address

Most have not followed the video correctly on both you and your friends phone. As you can see by other comments, it works when followed

This feature has nothing to do with theirs expensive watch lol. And has been a feature on older Apple Watches for forever. And these are for people having issues. Calm down

For the people who this is not working, besides doing this I had to turn off the Bluetooth in the Apple Watches for it to show the invitation, I have no idea why but besides updating the contacts the Bluetooth thing did the trick.

I did all these steps and when I go to call my girlfriend it says checking for availability and then eventually says she’s unavailable. But if she calls me it goes right through. Any ideas? @UrGamingTechie
