    Just installed my Gen 3. I followed along with this video as I did the install. It went in perfect. There’s only a few things I will add to it. Before putting in the new battery tray, bend your dipstick tube towards the engine. The clearance is a little tight unless you do. The last one is be careful when installing accessory cables, the top plate is grounded. 😅.

    • @GenesisOffroad
      @GenesisOffroad  Год назад +3

      Thank you for the feedback! You are correct about the dipstick, it is easy to bend it towards the engine slightly. Sorry we forgot to mention that in this video. It was included in our original video before the Gen 3 kit was released. And you are correct that the top plate is grounded, since the tray is bolted to the body, and the lid is bolted to the tray, it does conduct to the body ground, but then again, so is the fender, and hood, and engine, etc.

G-screen and new accessory bus cargo outlets next, after Church Sunday.

    I swear this is so awesome that Jeeps should come from the factory like this instead of the ridiculous motorcycle battery system. I can’t imagine how much it would suck to be stranded somewhere and having to screw around with that ridiculous OEM setup in the event of battery failure when a system such as this is so much better.
    It is insane how vehicles are built now. Compare the engine compartment of a JL with that of a YJ for example. There used to be so much more room and everything so much simpler.
    I currently drive a JKU and dread the eventual trade in for a JL and long for the simplicity of my YJ.

    Although this is a nice aftermarket system and provides cleanliness to what could be a mess of wires I just can't see spending basically a grand to have the complete system with digital battery display ... it's a steel battery tray with a multi connection point top tray and a digital tag out for voltage , by the time you buy everything needed to install dual batteries your dam near two G's and I for one can think of plenty of items I'd buy first ... but to each his own right ! Great install video tho .. .

    Your main battery is not monitored by the battery sensor if you put the negative cable on top of the sensor. That cable needs to be on the battery side of the sensor and NOT connected to the bus bar.

  • @WilliamHesson
    @WilliamHesson Год назад +2

    I am a little confused: In the video you state that on the JL the factory accessories run from the factory aux battery. The starter cable is connected to the Factory main battery. When you are wiring the system it looks to me like you are hooking the positive cable that was attached to the aux battery to the cranking battery and the positive cable that was connected to the factory main battery to the main battery as well. Wouldn't you want to connect the cable that was going to the aux battery to the accessory battery so it can run the factory accessories?

    Could I also remove the small box that holding the small aux battery, since it’s not being used, I’m worried rats might create a little nest in there coz the aux battery will no longer be there. Also do you guys ship to Canada? Also I have the new 2024 Jeep Willys, is this battery kit compatible for my Jeep? Currently I don’t have a lot of accessories added on to my Jeep, however during winter, I tend to use more of the heating accessories than any added aftermarket lighting(which I don’t have, everything is stock: including all led lighting that came with the Jeep). Which of these two would you recommend then? Would the Full Throttle one be better since I use up more of the Jeeps interior accessories, or did you mean in terms of other accessories, like winch, refrigerator, air compressor, etc…(I have none of that).

    • @GenesisOffroad
      @GenesisOffroad  Год назад +2

      Yes the entire stock plastic battery tray gets removed including the area that held the small aux battery. You can see that around the 13:08 mark. We do ship to Canada. Our website will show you some shipping rate options before you checkout. Please be aware that our website is not able to calculate any additional import duties or fees that the Customs office may add when it crosses the border. There were no changes to the battery compartment area for the 2024 models, so yours should look just like this video. We have lots of customers that run our dual battery kit even without hardly any aftermarket accessories. You'll still benefit from getting rid of the small aux battery, and be able to jump start yourself if your cranking battery gets too low to start the engine. Then later if you do add some accessories, those things will be able to run from the second battery and will not drain your cranking battery. We carry Odyssey and Full Throttle batteries. Both are excellent high quality batteries, you can't go wrong with either one. The Full Throttle one does have a little bit more capacity than the Odyssey though. Hope this helps! -Shane

    How difficult would it be to rewire the polarity on this kit? In other words, I have 2 Dakota Lithium batteries (135Ah) that fit perfectly in your dual tray, but the terminals are reversed. Are the attached battery cables able to be changed to a longer/shorter size? Any thoughts? Does the entire cover come off to access where the cables attach to your system?

    • @GenesisOffroad
      @GenesisOffroad  2 года назад +1

      The problem is that your factory positive and negative post clamps do not have any slack on them at all, so they will not reach over to the other side of the battery if you have the posts reversed. We have had some customers who added a one foot long battery cable onto the stock post clamps to extend them over to the other side. It will work, but it will look really messy, and you'll have to be very careful that your factory clamps do not touch the wrong posts on the batteries - your factory positive would end up being right next to the negative post on your battery. This is why we specify Group 25 batteries are required. All the wires will fall perfectly into the right place. Also, the top plastic cover is not intended to be removed because there are no end-user serviceable parts under there. Changing any of the wires under the cover will void your warranty.

    • @GenesisOffroad
      @GenesisOffroad  Год назад +3

      @@omarvilla7476 Allow me to clarify. When we say we are eliminating the aux battery, what we mean is we are not reusing the small factory battery under the fuse box. We are adding a second full sized battery which will be the new aux battery in our configuration. The one closest to the fuse box is the cranking battery, and the one towards the front of the vehicle is the new aux battery. The factory negative cable originally went from the small battery up to the big battery's negative post. Our kit comes with a new heavy duty cable that links the 2 negative posts together, so therefore the original cable is no longer needed. You can see more details on that in the video at the 22:12 mark. I hope this helps!

    • @GenesisOffroad
      @GenesisOffroad  Год назад +1

      Based on the brief info here, it sounds like your cranking battery may be low. Do you have the G Screen to check its voltage? If not, a handheld voltmeter would help verify. If it is indeed low, just put it on a battery charger overnight (one that can put out at least 20 amps) and then check it again. Our engine on sensor cable will prevent the smart isolator from separating the batteries while you are driving. If that cable were not working properly, then you may see the accessory battery going low. The cranking battery gets power from the alternator all the time. Hope this helps. If you need to talk through it more, please give us a call. 901-214-5337

    What do you think about lithium batteries?

    • @GenesisOffroad
      @GenesisOffroad  2 года назад +4

      Lithium batteries have several benefits, but also several drawbacks. They do not like high temperatures, and they cannot be charged at below freezing temperatures. They also don't like high amp draws, such as when using a winch. For those reasons, we feel AGM is still the best choice especially for our kits that put 2 batteries under the hood.

      @ronrosenberg4058 Год назад

      The engine compartment is way to hot for lithium batteries. Even more important is that if your "2" batteries are heavily discharged, the current acceptance rate of the lithium batteries will overheat your alternator and destroy it. Excellent question! The reason we made it an optional add on rather than including it in every kit is because most other vehicles do not need it. We have only had a handful of customers with the JL/JT report the issue with the alternator turning down its output low enough to cause the isolator to separate the batteries while driving. Therefore we didn’t want every customer to have to pay for the sensor cable, in an effort to keep the price as low as we could.
