Yeah, nice job, he should be paying you for this so I don't have to listen to all the other BS first. Also thank you Ublocker for removing all the ads.
I have a 2021 power wagon. I have been watching your videos forever. You have saved me so much money! From not getting onboard air, to this dual battery thing. You name it. I cannot thank you enough for spending money, than giving empirical evidence on why I shouldn’t. You are the f”$&ing man. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your input and experience on all things Overlanding.
You know what, I really love these Garage Coffee episodes. Its so good to actually see you just yourself and all the mistakes. When you said "Jheee you guys are killing me with the names" I actually laughed, usually everything from you is so proper and it was funny to see the flaws without the outtakes! Keep it up!
Thanx Master Cheif. I'm not a Jeep owner as I own a Suburban. But I get great ideas for trips and modifications through your videos. Now that my health isn't the best I'm living vicariously through your videos. Be safe.
First, let me say I love every one of your "regular" videos, whether they are a gear review, trail adventure, etc. HOWEVER, I think the silver lining in this Covid19 period is the opportunity for these "Garage Coffee" episodes. Episodes like these are something that everyone in a full-time channel like yours always wants to do, but never has the time due to all the other things going on in the channel. I am LOVING all the random topics, insights, fan thoughts, etc in these episodes! Thank you! Side note: after spending many years on backpacking trails deep in some mountains, and my wife and kids worrying about me, I pretty much went through the same "communications" journey. Sat phones seemed great, but often when deep in a valley you are out of the line of sight to the relatively sparse sat network. That doesn't seem to be the issue with the bi-directional text products like the Garmin InReach. I've enjoyed how simple it is to use (paired with my phone), and how well the coverage is. On to Garage Coffee ep 4 !
Just watched and liked the video, (as always) and stayed till the end where you talked about the badge of honor program Jeep has. It’s a really neat program for all of us Jeep owners. I recently bought a 98 Jeep Xj and my badges from my trip to Moab will be here tomorrow! There’s no community like the Off-road/Overland community.
People keep saying the trails are closed in California. I can assure you, the vast majority of trails are completely open. Went Jeeping yesterday, Pilot Rock, 2N17X, up through Lake Arrowhead. We even passed a Ranger on the trail who we waved to as we drove by..
Yep, the Mojave Road is open also.. so are most of the trails in the Shaver Lake area, unless snow has closed them (Late snow storm the last couple of weeks)
I just ordered a not cheap Genesis dual battery for my JL especially with the added international shipping cost. Your title scared me but after watching hopefully it wasn't a bad decision as I only have one car 🤣. Great video and keep them coming please
I love the story about the mud caves. I had something like that happen to me at Black Bear pass. I am from Oklahoma and at the trail head I ran into two parked Jeeps. One was from Oklahoma as well. We tuned our CB's to the same channel and had a blast running it with strangers.
Hello Brad. I always enjoy your channel and the recent coffee sessions are a great distraction from the current events our country and the world is facing. Very excited to hear about the E3 Association (Overland). To me the E3 motto is exactly how I feel about Overlanding. To Empower, Educate, and Entertain. Charlie Mike. Bill
Brad, thanks for providing entertainment and distraction during my covid isolation and recovery. It's kinda funny but I too had a '73 Firebird. Sold it to buy my first Jeep, an '81 Cherokee Chief Widetrack. Coolest vehicle ever. Sold that one when we moved to Thailand. Bought my son almost the exact same Jeep many years later which he still has and has great plans for. I learned to drive and tinker on a '43 Willys on my uncle's ranch as a kid and never got Jeep out of my blood. I've owned 7 wagon format Jeeps over the years and it's time for a Wrangler. Love your JK. Keep the garage coffee coming.
Greatly appreciated your response about adhering to our current stay-at-home precaution. Thank you very much, Brad. BTW, I luv current electronic/digital technology in my 2020 JL, don't think I can live without it, especially ACC.
Have coffee in hand, continuing work on my dual battery and compressor install this morning and listening to coffee garage? That's a good Sunday morning! Good morning Brad :)
Hey Brad, thanks for the post. You have a lot of good info. I built a 69 Jeepster Commando. It took a few years. Just as I was finishing it up, I had to sell it in 08. It was very cool. Loved that thing.
Thanks for all of your insight, much appreciated. Great advice to our brother that will be transitioning in 3. You can never start networking too soon for your transition, I work with a lot of service members in assisting them w/that. Thanks for sharing your story, a great anecdote on how to do it effectively. S/F shipmate
I love your comment about liking the SJ. I have owned 2 in my life. My first was a '73 wagoneer, 4 door.. Believe it had the 340 v8 with automatic and dual tanks. Great range and very easy to drive. So smooth on the highway and cound take some fairly rough terrain. My second was a 1985 Wagoneer 4 door. Again it was a dream to drive. Both had surprisingly tight turning. If I ever have a chance to do another project vehicle, I would look for another SJ.
Great place, your Sunday morning garage, very neat. Most comfortable place where you rule. Thank you for charring the pro,s and cons and what works best for you.
Brad love the video man, it would Be awesome if you did a garage walk around!! Showing us your tools, garage set up, how you set up for repairs, etc.. love the videos man! Thank you for keeping us entertained during the shutdown!
Wish a jeep guy like Brad was one of my neighbors - would have had some help installing my roof rack yesterday (random thought). Thanks for keeping the good content coming during this time.
Yes!!! The XJ for sure! That was my first vehicle in high school and loved it! Owned 3 in fact and my third I went back to after two JKU’s. Awesome vehicle!
I was going to get a 1999 BMW m3 and I went to youtube and I was watching car videos, and then one of TrailRecons videos popped up and I was like huh what's that and so I clicked on it. Now Brad is the reason I want a jeep do badly.
I'm really enjoying this video series. It's a great way to pass some time during quarantine and it's great to hear some of your stories Brad. Thank you for being responsible and hunkering down like the majority of us.
Transiting out of the Military 🤪👍. I remember my Transition was Just after returning from Combat I was standing Guard Duty at an Armory, the Officer Of The Day OOD was checking my post and just noticed my EAS was up that same day 😉👍, then found myself a few hours latter on an Airplane to freedom 🤦♂️🤣👍. Today I always find myself laughing when I here about transition into civilian life because I sure wish I had been so spoiled 👍!
My transitioning from GM2 to Civilian job was walking across the street to So Cal Edison at the Long Beach Generation Station.. sadly that was short lived as Edison's push for deregulation completely screwed things up.. Edison sold all of their steam generation plant..Been working for DWR for 25yrs since the sell off.. I sure loved operating Long Beach Gen Sta, circa 1928 equipment repowered with Combustion Turbines.. In 1994 after the Northridge Earth Quake, our crew/shift saved the day/grid & San Onofre by being the first plant online to send a 230kv line to Lighthipe and then down to San Onofre.. I think I worked 18hrs that day.. I'll never forget that quake, it shook LBGS for 20mins due to the plant is standing on 40ft creosote poles driven into the mud to bedrock side-by-side.. felt like sea state 5 ocean conditions.. lol
@@Future-Preps35 Ha! I lived in Bakersfield for 11yrs after So Cal Ed. and it seems like we're all "ex's" for a lot of us... I got out in 89 ( life mistake #1) lived in Carson which was a short commute to Terminal Island where LBGS is still located at.. it's been is several movies like Next, It's a Mad Mad Mad World, The Last Ship 1st episode season 1, The Italian Job, Star Trek 2009, The X Files ect..
even when things are calmed down and you're able to return to the outdoors, i would love to see this format of video to remain on a monthly basis. ive really enjoyed this garage coffee! you just need a new intro animation for these! keep up the great work, Brad!
I considered going the dual battery mostly for my cooler. However after doing some research I decided to first try an Odyssey Extreme when the OEM battery in my 2017 JK died. I installed an Odyssey Extreme group 34R and it will run my cooler for well over 12 hours in the most extreme heat and there is still sufficient voltage to start the engine. Yes the Odyssey Extreme is expensive but cheaper than 2 qualities batteries and the dual battery conversion kit. Many years ago I had a dual battery setup on my 1980 CJ 5. This was mostly for my winch but batteries have improved a lot since the 1980’s. Yes I carry a small jump start battery just in case.
Hi Brad, I'm Shlomo Merbaum from Israel and I love your channel and especially the way you do things and your wonderful term "RockLanding" which fits perfectly my way of traveling. Anyway there are 2 issues I wold like to know your opinion/ comment: A. Did you consider sleeping in your Jeep arrangment (with sleeping platform) for your JKU, especially when traveling alone? Sleeping in the Jeep has so many advantages Vs rooftop tent- It's much more lighter, it doesn't affect the center of gravity, It's cheaper and a very nice and easy DIY project, It has better insulation especially in windy conditions, It's easy and quick to set up for a night sleep as much as a rooftop tent and even better in that then the soft rooftop tents. The down side of sleeping in a Jeep- it is tighter and more camped and suites only 2 persons the most. It is suitable onle for 4dr. vehicles. Some sleeping in Jeep solutions needs cancellation of the second raw seats if one wants to be able to seat upright and cofortably on the sleeping platform. B. Why overlanding became so popular in U.S.A. only in the last few years when you have such a vast and beautiful country to explore?
Hi Brad, Love Sin Nombre! Back in the early 2000's I went with several friends to the Mud Caves. It was raining and the main wash was flowing like a river...all the way across, but only a few inches deep. We observed for awhile, and decided to cross. Not a huge deal but we all made the crossing with no issues. Such a pretty area in ABDSP! PS...we ran it with my T100 and some Tacomas!!!
Its funny because the 'mud caves' anza borrego area got me into wheeling. I had a 2017 ram rebel when I first went. I ended up flipping it out there, poor line planning and in-experience caused it. but that got me hooked. a few weeks later I went and bought a 2020 Jeep Gladiator rubicon, and I couldn't be happier. Cant wait for the day when I meet you and the boys one day.
Hi Brad.. once this world situation is over and done with, I would love to see you and your sons, do more together, and of course Marco lol.. I can’t wait to meet you guys someday.. you have given myself and family a lot of enjoyment and information ..thank you
Upfront and most importantly, love the channel. Just one comment on this one: "When everything opens back up in a couple of weeks..." Boy, that Cali crow got eaten, huh? 😆 Keep the wonderful vids coming! Really enjoy the way the TR vids are done.
I have a portable battery too, it's actually a solar generator, (battery, mppt, inverter all in one) and a portable solar panel. It can be charger with 12v too.
ROFL! Just after you answered that question about your favorite coffee (Black Rifle Coffee Co.), my RUclips feed cut away for an ad -- for Black Rifle Coffee Co!
Brad, as I suggested on another of your videos, for a classic Jeep look at a 1966-1971 CJ6 with the Buick 225 V6. They're dirt simple and have decent room for gear. If you're really getting a Cherokee Chief look at 1970-1974. Strip all the smog stuff off and install a TBI F.I. Also look into swapping out the Quadatrac T-case for a Dana 300.
Hi Brad! I have a question for "Garage Coffee" ep.4. Have you ever thought about taking a long trip in the United States,or maybe in New Zealand,Australia, for example? It could be alone or with Marco, your wife or your son of course, but I mean a trip of several months. Thanks for making these bad times better for us. Stay safe.
It’s amazing watching this two years later and hearing about CVD. It made me angry all over again that Newsom shut everything down while he was out dining massless. Nevermind the fact California did no better than the states that remained opened. Two years of all our lives wasted for his ego.
Great choice doing Rock Slide Eng. , installed them on my 2017 JKU to help offset wifes short legs....lol.... They are awesome !!! Highly recommend them!
Just ordered my Rock Slide Engineer slides with body armor and lights from Northridge 4x4 for my JKU. Looking forward to installing it got more parts coming for when I finally go home. Really enjoying this series and the other one it's something I look forward to out on the road.
Get the wagoneer or Cherokee chief for your retro build!!. Under rated platform. I spent many years in my dad's as a child then mine back in the 80's and 90's. I would love to build another myself with LS or a early gladiator. Skip the hemi, the LS is such a awesome compact, efficient, powerful, after market supported, dependable platform. Either way do it!!
That's crazy how different Cali is...I'm in AZ where Deucey also did a 'stay at home order' and all the parks dropped their parking fees so people can go enjoy them for free. As for public land its wide open and perhaps busier than usual! Anyway good luck out there bro this cant last much longer #HeardImmunity
In your isolation... and not being on trail adventures with Marco.... which of his meals do you crave? It seems his cooking is always part of the adventures!
My Bose Entertainment Center DVD & voice command still works perfectly in my 2008 Avalanche, so, yeah, electronics will eventually need module replacements etc, but analog stuff goes out sometimes too. Otherwise, you might want to get one of those 20yr old retired Austrian Military G-Wagons imported into Colorado. Those old motors run forever.
I have been watching you for a while and really like your enthusiasm, and only found out today you served. Thank you for your Videos and your service. Funny a retired navy who likes the high country? Were is you boat?
I know you're not a coffee snob. Id love a video of blind coffee taste test all brewed with your favorite method (the percolator). Something different, but something overland. Thank you and E6 Coastie!
My garage is a mess, never been able to find cabinets that I like until now... Will be ordering several of those you linked! Especially like the fact they are on casters...
Brad, thanks for keeping everyone entertained with your videos during the lockdown. Question: what was the first overland trip you took in state and out of state, and is there a place you recommend in Southern California for a first overlanding trip?
Really enjoy your channel: come away a bit smarter and feel inspired to try new things out there. Looking at my 1st dedicated over-landing rig (currently a 97 TJ on 33" is my DD and weekend getaway rig). I REALLY want a Gladiator (because its a Jeep thing), but I can't make the weight work safely. As I look at the kit I'll likely carry (RTT, bigger refrigerator, more water and fuel, etc.) I quickly to get be about 300# over GVWR (w/ 2 adults, 1 teen, and 2 dogs). The Tacoma is even worse. The Ranger is the only one even close - and that's
Hello Brad I have used 2 of those diesel heaters that you showed at the beginning of your video. Both have leaked diesel after using for a few short hours. There is a hole in the casting next to where the fuel pipe is attached. What the hole is for, I have no idea. I plugged the hole in the first one, which stopped the leaking, but after a few short hours of operation the glow plug stopped working. I got a replacement and it started leaking too. Also it keeps shutting down and I have to restart it. I have a plastic container under the heater to catch the leaking fuel. I have a third heater and will install it later today. I’ll let you know how it works out after using it for a few days. It does put out great heat and uses very little fuel, even though it never shuts off. There’s no thermostat control which is not appealing. You can adjust the output of the heater using the panel or wireless remote. The fuel pump is very noisy. It’s a piston pump. If you or anyone else wants more information or photos of my unit or camper trailer you can email me at cdnbvr@gmail.com. I will answer everybody. Keep up your great work sir. I also like seeing the rigs that your viewers submitted. I hope that you’ll keep doing those videos.
I've read that the Method Trail wheels are the next best thing to a beadlock wheel. Have you thought about trying these wheels out? It looks like they have a really nice design to them.
Great vid. Question for next episode. You mentioned in the question about camping with you that don't want to babysit people who are new...which I get. But as new guy in overlanding, wondering have you ever come across a site/group like overlanding 101? Guides, lessons....kinda like adult summer camp???

Great point about the electronic bells and whistles. When I was a teen there was room under the hood to put a tool box and I knew what everything was.

This segment should be called: "CoffeeRecon". ;)
even when things are calmed down and you're able to return to the outdoors, i would love to see this format of video to remain on a monthly basis. ive really enjoyed this garage coffee! you just need a new intro animation for these! keep up the great work, Brad!
Anyway there are 2 issues I wold like to know your opinion/ comment:
Subscribed ! New to off-road and just got my self a defender 110 while in the military.
This channel is pure gold!! Keep up all the good work!
Much appreciated!
Hi Brad.. once this world situation is over and done with, I would love to see you and your sons, do more together, and of course Marco lol..
Coffee of the day, where you feature a new coffee each show 😉 greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
I have a portable battery too, it's actually a solar generator, (battery, mppt, inverter all in one) and a portable solar panel. It can be charger with 12v too.
Great video while drinking my morning coffee. Good job
Staying home vs. outdoors during lockdown. Outof your mind
ROFL! Just after you answered that question about your favorite coffee (Black Rifle Coffee Co.), my RUclips feed cut away for an ad -- for Black Rifle Coffee Co!
Awesome video!! Love these videos with my morning coffee. Keep the videos coming Brad!!
Sunday morning coffee, the only thing that could be better would be out on the trail.
I have a Hikeit throttle controller and I love it! It actually has settings less sensitive that stock as well.
I see trail recon,,, I tap ❤️
Good job building the channel as big as it is.
Excellent content. Real as real can be. Thanks
Best way to start my Sunday.
Cool video. Definitely enjoyed the content as always! Those cabinets are really nice. Thanks for the link. Stay safe!
Love your videos. Always enjoy seeing new content!
In your isolation... and not being on trail adventures with Marco.... which of his meals do you crave? It seems his cooking is always part of the adventures!
Lite brite is giving their gladiator away..... I want yours way more... Lets do it Brad.... Give away contest😂
Thank you and
E6 Coastie!
You know.. your garage and coffee is the best when I have beer! I laugh so hard after a hard night at work, with you trying to pronounce names. Lmfao
Always awesome thanks brother Brad!!! 👍👊
You think you need a haircut? I saw my self in the mirror this morning, I thought I’d found the missing link! It was just me.
Really enjoyed this! 👍👍👍
Loving this new garage series!
Good Morning .... Thank you for a Great Start to My Day! ☕️ 👍
Another awesome video, and I'm looking forward to overlanding. Just purchased a Gladiator.
RE: New axles; Our plan is if there is any maintenance needed then upgrade to the new shiny part.
Love the garage videos! We also have the HD workbenches, love them!😃
Love the videos. You and your family stay safe
I've read that the Method Trail wheels are the next best thing to a beadlock wheel. Have you thought about trying these wheels out? It looks like they have a really nice design to them.
Thank you, Brad
Toyota owner here, but I love the videos man!
@@simonknock4150 Awesome to hear! Fj owner as well!
Great vid. Question for next episode. You mentioned in the question about camping with you that don't want to babysit people who are new...which I get. But as new guy in overlanding, wondering have you ever come across a site/group like overlanding 101? Guides, lessons....kinda like adult summer camp???
